Smith III, Daniel Conlee
SMITH, DANIEL CONLEE, III, 74, of Andover, retired engineer, died Thursday, October 3, 2002 at a local hospital.
Memorial service, 1:00 P.M., Monday, Oct. 7, Downing & Lahey Mortuary East Chapel.
Dan was born December 8, 1927 in Wichita to the late Daniel Conlee, Jr. and Helen (Gerhart) Smith.
He served in the Army in the Pacific during World War II. Dan graduated from Wichita University, married Abbie Frances (Troup) in 1951, and worked in the family business as Vice-President of the Wichita Union Stockyards through 1974. He later applied his engineering degree and retired from Boeing in 1995. He had a life-long love of aviation and aircraft modeling, which provided many opportunities to travel, fly the aircraft he created, and enjoy a network of like-minded friends before and after his retirement.
Preceded in death by his second wife, Coral (Tait) Smith
Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Reid and Dr. Patricia Smith of Kansas City, MO; Kendall and Julie Smith of Ft. Worth, TX; daughters, Dana Smith of Towanda, KS; Annette Smith of Hollywood, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Darrell Kincaid of Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Rachel, Abbie, Amy and Ben Smith all of Kansas City, MO; Jennie and Joanna Smith of Ft. Worth, TX.

Mould, Edna May Hunter
Mould, Edna May Hunter, 101, of Benton, homemaker, died Monday, March 3, 2003. Memorial service 3 p.m. March 21, St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church, Albuquerque, N.M.
Edna was born Dec. 30, 1901 in the village of South Bishopwearmouth, Counties of Sunderland & Durham, England, to William George Hunter and Lydia (Kirsopp) Hunter. She wed Edward Combie Mould on Aug. 9, 1921. In 1926, Edna transited the Atlantic aboard the Samaria with her son Douglas, entered through Ellis Island, and joined her husband Ted in Pittsburgh, Pa. Subsequently, she bored Edward Conrad Mould. After 20 years in Pittsburgh, Edna and Ted moved to
Albuquerque when Ted took a position with Sandia Corporation. Ted preceded her in death in 1974, but she remained in her home until moving to Kansas and living with a grandson and his family in 2000. Edna was a long-time member of St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church, and remained active in Eastern Star well into her nineties. She was commanded by her mother Lydia to live to be one hundred years old; she did her one year better. She is preceded in death by her son Douglas.
Surviving Edna is her son Ed and his wife, Joyce, of Oklahoma City, along with eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Alma Johnston and her husband, Jim of Bath, Avon, England and Reta Tupper of Heswall, Wirral, England.

Salmans, Marion K. "Sam"
SALMANS, MARION K. “SAM”, 92, of Wichita, banker at Intrust Bank in Haysville and sales representative for Burroughs Corp., died Tuesday, March 18, 2003.
Service, 10:00 A. M., Saturday, March 22, 2003, College Hill United Methodist Church.
Sam was born January 20, 1911 in Rozel, Kansas and grew up in Larned before his family moved Garden City where he attended high school and what is now Garden City Community College. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1934.
For 42 years, interrupted only by service as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy in World War II, he was with Burroughs Corp., now Unisy, as one of the few sales people who successfully made the transition into the computor age, selling to the First National Bank of Wichita the largest computor Burroughs had then installed between the Mississippi and the West Coast.
In 1976, Sam embarked on a second career lasting 17 years, retiring at the age of 83 as a Vice-President of Intrust Bank in Haysville, formerly Haysville State Bank.
