MACKSVILLE — Edna Zuriah Suiter, 98, died Jan. 29 at Stafford District Hospital in Stafford. She was born June 3, 1904, at Macksville, the daughter of Oliver Scott and Lillie Althea Waddle. She graduated from Macksville High School. She married
Ralph Leroy Suiter March 24, 1927, at Pratt. He died Oct. 25, 1987. A lifetime resident of Macksville, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Suiter was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Macksville. Survivors include two sons, Donald Suiter of Macksville and Charles Suiter of Edmond, Okla.; one daughter, Phyllis Reimer of Loveland, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Eugene L. Suiter; one daughter, Bernice McMillen; two brothers, Everett Waddle and Joe Waddle; and two grandchildren. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. David Upp officiating. Burial will be at Farmington cemetery in Macksville. Stanley E. Jones on July 26, 1955, at Tucumcari, N.M. They later got a divorce but remained good friends. A resident of Amarillo since 1992, coming from Dodge City and Jetmore, she was a manager of Westwind Trailer Park in Amarillo. Survivors include three sons, Gene Jones of Amarillo, and Jeff Jones and Chad Jones, both of Jetmore; three daughters, Debi Smith-Pontius of Macksville, Marty DeRusseau of Amarillo and Phyllis Appel of Jetmore; three brothers, Raymond DuPree of Dodge City, Rex DuPree of Mount Home, Ark., and Donnie DuPree of Bucklin; one sister, Rowena Steele of Kinsley; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Loyd DuPree; and one sister, Phyllis DuPree. Memorial service will be at 2 today at BSA Hospice Chapel in Amarillo with Jeff Messer officiating. Georgia M. Feil 1930-2003
RUSSELL — Georgia M. Feil, 72, died Jan. 30 at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell. She was born March 21, 1930, the daughter of George and Mary Bender Mai. She graduated from Russell High School. She married
Willis L. Feil on Sept. 17, 1950, at Dorrance. A longtime Russell resident, she worked for the Russell Telephone Company, Duckwalls, Boogaarts from 1966 to 1970, and the Russell Hospital until her retirement in 1992. Mrs. Feil was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both of Russell. Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, Allan Feil of Salina, James Feil of Russell and Robert Feil of Carwin, Texas; one brother, Lawrence Mai of Three Rivers, Calif.; one sister, Selma Harris of Tempe, Ariz.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Kay; two brothers, Emil Mai and Edwin Mai; and two sisters, Rozella Mai and Luella Bender. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Revs. Henry Hartman and Harlan Kaden officiating. Burial will be at Russell City Cemetery. BAZINE — Velma D. Antenen, 92, died Jan. 28 at Ness County Hospital in Ness City. She was born Sept. 26, 1910, at Bazine, the daughter of Henry and Lydia Kindsvater Reinhardt. She married
Durward Antenen on June 21, 1936, at Ft. Lupton, Colo. He died April 15, 1982. A lifetime resident of Bazine, she was a homemaker and taught school at Bazine Grade School. Survivors include two sons, Terry Antenen and Alan Antenen, both of Bazine; one daughter, Dixie Stenzel of Ogallala, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Mickey Lee Antenen; and one sister, Corrine McClintock. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Bazine with the Rev. Louise M. McCormick 1923-2003
RUSH CENTER — Louise M. McCormick, 79, died Jan. 30 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. She was born June 23, 1923, at Timken, the daughter of Walter and Amy Mae Lewis Erb. She married
Charles W. McCormick on Nov. 7, 1946, at La Crosse. He died Oct. 2, 1991. A lifelong Rush County resident, she was sales clerk in the retail industry before her retirement. Survivors include two sons, Larry Don McCormick of Carbondale and Denny EuGene McCormick of Timken; one brother, Melvin Erb of Bison; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin Erb; and two sisters, Arlene Klein and Waltetta Sankey. Theodore J. “Ted” Armatys 1922-2003
CEDAR RAPIDS, Neb, — Theodore J. ”Ted” Armatys, 81, died Jan. 27 at his home north of Cedar Rapids, Neb. He was born Jan. 11, 1922, on his familiy’s farm southwest of Cedar Rapids, the son of Stanley and Valeria Micek Armatys. He married
Leona Redler on March 26, 1951, in Albion. A resident of rural Cedar Rapids, he was a farmer, a rancher and a school bus driver for 32 years. Armatys was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and a lifetime member of Dan Cox American Legion Post 44. He was a U.S. veteran, having served as an automotive mechanic with 3881 Quartermaster Trucking Company transporting supplies to troops in France, Belgium and Germany during World War II. He was recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the European Theatre Ribbon. Survivors include his wife of Cedar Rapids; four sons, Jim Armatys of Great Bend, John Armatys of Fullerton, Neb., and Tom Armatys and Bill Armatys, both of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Mary Fehr of Columbus, Neb., Cathy Pelster of Petersburg, Neb., and Diane Kovar of David City, Neb.; two brothers, Stanley “Bud” Armatys Jr. and Ed Armatys, both of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Frances Ziemba of Cedar Rapids; and 13 grandchildren. LARNED — Effie Bank, 93, died Jan. 28 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned. She was born April 20, 1909, at Larned the daughter of Thomas F. and Mattie Line Banks. She married
Lowell W. Bank on Oct. 21, 1933 at Great Bend. He died March 27, 1981. A lifetime resident of Larned, she and her husband owned of Pawnee Printing from 1939-1975 and she was a registered nurse and a homemaker. Mrs. Bank was a member of Fathers House of New Covenant Church, Garden Club and Fort Larned Historical Society, all of Larned, and was a Kiwanis Queen. Survivors include one son, Ric Bank of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Pat Morrison of Versailles, Mo.; and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Foy Banks, Roy Banks, Charles Banks and Walter Banks; three sisters, Elsie Christopher, Edith Upheber and Ethyl Steele; and one grandson, Dennis Weymuth. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned with the Revs. Brett Hill and Judy Tabler officiating. Cremation has taken place. Sister Dorothy Felder 1917-2003
Sister Dorothy Felder, 86, of Dominican Sisters of Great Bend, died Jan. 28 at the Dominican Sisters’ convent infirmary in Great Bend. She was born Jan. 9, 1917, in north Ellinwood, the daughter of Andrew and Stefanne Proksch Felder. She entered the Dominican Sisters’ community Aug. 25, 1932, and pronounced her first vows Aug. 20, 1935. She celebrated 65 years of religious profession in 2000. Sister Dorothy gave most of her ministerial life as a teacher and principal of Catholic elementary schools of Kansas and Oklahoma. Her teaching career began in 1937 and spanned 65 years and 15 schools. She also served as Supervisor of Catholic Schools of the Wichita Diocese from 1964-1972. Following her retirement from teaching and administration of schools in 1997, Sister Dorothy returned to the location of her last ministry as teacher and principal to serve as a home visitor and pastoral minister among the people of St. Leo, Zenda and Willowdale. Sister Dorothy was a member of the St. Leo Daughters of Isabella 644. Survivors include three brothers, Joseph Felder of Kinsley, Vernon Felder of Nekoma and Louis Felder of Wakeeney; and three sisters, Pauline Oborny of Derby, Bertha Johnson of Derby and Marie Vondracek of Timken. Sister Dorothy’s body will lie in state in the hospitality area of the Dominican Chapel of the Plains, 3600 Broadway, Great Bend, until the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Gerald Hammeke, presider, and the Rev. John Miller homilist. A wake service will be at 7:30 tonight at the chapel. Burial will be at the Sisters’ Resurrection cemetery in Great Bend. Both the wake and the funeral will be at the convent. Friends may call at the convent until 7 tonight and Friday from 8 a.m. until service time. OLMITZ — Frederick J. Bahr, 78, died Jan. 28 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. He was born Dec. 18, 1924, at Olmitz the son of Williaim F. and Anna M. Hickey Bahr. A lifetime resident of Olmitz, he was a farmer. Bahr was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, both of Olmitz. Survivors include four brothers, Charles Bahr and Don Bahr, both of Olmitz, Marion Bahr of Claflin and Bob Bahr of Spring, Texas; and one sister, Rose Ann Wondra of Claflin. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Bahr and Francis Bahr; and one sister, Catherine Oborny. KINGSPORT, Tenn. — Sgt. Mickey Michael Moffett, 64, of Kingsport, died Jan. 25 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born Aug. 13, 1938, at McGhee, Ark., the son of James and Mary Adams Moffett. He married
Brenda. A resident of Kingsport, he was a bus driver for Knoxville City, Tenn. Moffett was a member of the Baptist faith and Knoxville Rescue Ministries. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the AFCS Honor Flights Society. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Brian Moffett of Kingsport and Mickey Michael Moffett Jr. of Houston, Texas; four daughters, Felicia Collins of Ludington, Mich., Kimberly Moffett of Knoxville, Candy Hawks of Kingsport and Brenda Fox of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, George Washington Moffett of McGhee; one sister Mary Lee Reed of Great Bend; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Herschele E. Giles 1918-2003
WINFIELD — Herschele E. Giles, 84, died Jan. 26 at Good Samaritan Village at Winfield. He was born Dec. 26, 1918, in rural Wellington, the son of Earl and Anna Glick Giles. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1936 and attended Wichita State University. He married

A resident of Winfield, coming from Hutchinson and Great Bend, he worked as a salesman for Reed Roller Bit Oil Company for 25 years and for Dresser Oil Co., both of Hutchinson, until his retirement in 1985. Giles was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Masonic Lodge, all of Great Bend, and Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association (KIOGA). He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a corporal until his retirement on Jan. 17, 1946. Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Pam Herrenbruck of Winfield, Sharon Johnson of Lawrence and Kris Jay of Santa Barbara, Calif.; one sister, Lucille Railsback of Overland Park; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Miles Funeral Home in Winfield. Cremation has taken place. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Frances Keller 1928-2003
YUMA, Ariz. — Frances Keller, 74, died Jan. 28 at Central Kansas Medical Center of Great Bend. She was born Nov. 18, 1928, at Montreal, Canada, the daughter of Wilfred and Jessie Fletcher Grenier. She married
Frank Keller at Great Bend. He died Oct. 11, 2002. She was a resident of Yuma for 10 years, coming from Albert. Mrs. Keller was a member of the Methodist faith. Survivors include two sisters, Virginia Jones of Utica and Marjorie Glenn of Island Pond, Vt. There is no visitation. LARNED — Jodie Meers Davis, 75, died Jan. 27 at Hays Medical Center of Hays. He was born March 12, 1927, at Detroit, Texas, the son of James Edgar and Clara Bell Griggs Davis. He married
Edna Ruth Piland on March 1, 1952, at Rockwell, Texas. A resident of Larned since 2000, coming from Garfield, he was a retired farmer and stockman. Davis was a member of Assembly of God Church and a past member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Larned. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Joe Bradley Davis of Lewis; one daughter, Dyann Twitchell of Larned; one brother, Charles W. Davis of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Beda J. Unruh of Garland and Irene Threadgill of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, C.E. Davis and E.L. Davis; and two sisters, Opal Huff and twin Jimmy Curry. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned with the Rev. Richard Martin officiating.
