Fausto Lerma Vega, 23, of Great Bend, died Oct. 26 in McPherson County. He was born Sept. 6, 1979, at Obregon, Sonora, Mexico, the son of Valentin Lerma Ochoa and Consuelo Vega Fuentes. A resident of Great Bend for two years, coming from Phoenix, Ariz., he was a self-employed roofer. Lerma Vega was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Great Bend. Survivors include his parents of Mexico; and two sisters, Mirna Guadalupe Lerma Vega and Irma Lerma Vega, both of Obregon. Funeral service will be at Obregon. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home of Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to Fausto Lerma Vega Funeral Expense Fund, in care of the funeral home. Oct. 31, 2002

Donald L. ‘Don’ Bahr 1946 - 2002
RURAL OLMITZ — Donald L. “Don” Bahr, 56, died Nov. 25 at his residence. He was born Nov. 16, 1946, at Great Bend, the son of Leonard and Clara Birzer Bahr. He married Paulette Sellers on June 10, 1993, at Great Bend. She died July 29, 2002. A resident of rural Olmitz, coming from Great Bend, he worked at Straub International and Gibson, Titus and Stafford, both of Great Bend. Bahr was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Hoisington and a member of the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. Survivors include one son, Jamie Bahr of Morresvile, N.C.; his mother of Olmitz; five sisters, Pat McConnell of Hoisington, Jenelda Moore of Valdez, Alaska, Louella Call of Rolla, Mo., Rita Bahr of Jones, Okla., and Jane Dietz of Russell; two stepsons; three stepdaughters; one grandchild; and one stepgrandchild. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Pascal Klein officiating. Burial will be at St. John cemetery of Hoisington. Friends may call from 1-8 tonight at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home of Hoisington. Memorials are suggested to Salvation Army, in care of the funeral home. Nov. 29, 2002

Edna Margreet Foster 1916 — 2002
LARNED — Edna Margreet Foster, 86, died Nov. 27 at Larned Healthcare and Living Center. She was born July 27, 1916, at Lamar, Colo., the daughter of John and Jessie Albert Mulvaney. She graduated from Larned High School in 1934 and attended Phillips University at Enid, Olka. She married Roy W. Monger July 25, 1937, at Larned. He died Sept. 4, 1983. She married Don Foster Sept. 24, 1984, at Larned. He died dec. 15, 1990. A longtime Larned resident, she was a dental assistant for 45 years and at the Larned State Hospital. She was a member of First Christian Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship and a past member of Li-Ar-Mu Club, all of Larned, and General Federation of Women’s Club. She was honored as the State Dental Assistant of Kansas in 1982. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Anne Steiner of Kit Carson, Colo.; one sister, L. Hope Brown of Troy, Mich., and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Ted Gardner and John Gardner; and one sister, Ruth Fertig. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned with the Rev. Dan Lundgren officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or American Cancer Society both in care of the funeral home. Nov. 29, 2002

Edna Mae Harper 1910-2002
HUTCHINSON — Edna Mae Harper, 92, died Nov. 25 at Hutchinson Good Samaritan Village. She was born May 10, 1910, at Medford, Okla., the daughter of William Allen and Mary Jane “Jennie” Haskins Shepherd. She attended Medford High School and was a 1928 graduate of South Haven High School. She married James E. Harper on Dec. 7, 1932, at Enid, Okla. He died June 2, 1979. A resident of Hutchinson since 1975, coming from Newton, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Harper was a member of First Baptist Church of Hutchinson, Daughters of Union Veterans where she served as Kansas Department president from 1964-1965, and a member of Rebekah Assembly of IOOF where she served as Kansas Assembly president from 1967-1968. Survivors include one son, William H. Harper Sr. of Great Bend; one daughter, Nyrna M. Setty Kelley of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Shepherd; two sisters, Zetta Bailey and Evelyn Furnish; and one great-grandson, Tommy Harper. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Johnson and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel of Hutchinson with the Rev. Jim Autrey officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 tonight and from 1-9 p.m. Thursday, all at the funeral home. LDean Fox 1936-2002
LARNED — LDean Fox, 66, died Nov. 25 at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born Aug. 18, 1936, at Larned, the son of Robert Earl and Thelma Orene Guffey Fox. He married Sharon Kay White on Oct. 26, 1958, at Kinsley. She died Oct. 12, 1999. A lifetime resident of Larned, he was a farmer. Fox was a member of United Methodist Church, National Farmers Union and past Walnut Township board member, all of Larned. Survivors include one son, Kevin Earl Fox of Larned; one daughter, LaDena Kay Haremza of Larned; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Nealan Fox. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary of Larned with the Rev. Dan Lundgren officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight, from 3-8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday, all at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the church or American Cancer Society, both in care of the mortuary. Nov. 27, 2002

Marjorie C. Howard 1909-2002
Marjorie C. Howard, 93, of Great Bend, died Nov. 25 at Cherry Village Nursing Home of Great Bend. She was born Feb. 14, 1909, at Vliets, the daughter of John Andrew and Anna Anderson Casper. She attended Kansas Wesleyan College of Salina and Kansas State University, receiving a BS in home economics. She married Earl Thomas Howard on June 10, 1945, at Larned. He died June 13, 1959. A resident of Great Bend, she was a high school teacher at Clifton, Agenda and Great Bend, and was owner of Howard’s Apparel Shop of Great Bend. Mrs. Howard was a member of First Presbyterian Church, First Barton County Community College Foundation Association and a 50 year member of FS Chapter of PEO. Survivors include one brother, Harlan Casper of Wichita; and two sisters, Phyllis V. Casper and Audrey C. Hall, both of Great Bend. She was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette E. Livingston. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Hal Staats officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, all at Bryant Funeral Home of Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to the church or BCCC Foundation Association, both in care of the funeral home. Nov. 27, 2002

Charles H. Petersilie 1919-2002
LA CROSSE — Charles H. Petersilie, 83, died Nov. 26 at Rush County Memorial Hospital of La Crosse. He was born April 19, 1919, in Franklin Township of Ness County, the son of Charles W. and Pearl Reynolds Petersilie. He married Gertrude. She preceded him in death. A resident of Rush County for seven years, coming from Hutchinson, he was a retired farmer. Survivors include one stepson, Marlin Beshore of Utah; two brothers, Arthur Petersilie of Lecompton and Ory Petersilie of Otis; and four sisters, Wanda Labonte of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dana Rees of Delia, Arlene Riegle of Wichita and Barbara Schumacher of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by two stepdaughters, Jeannie Latham and Margie Davis; one brother, Floyd Petersilie; and two sisters, Edith Dewberry and Ida Wenick. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Janousek Funeral Home Chapel of La Crosse, with the Rev. Marilyn Christmore officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ness City Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Rush County Nursing Home in La Crosse, in care of the funeral home. Nov. 27, 2002

Clarence E. Perrin 1916-2002
OBERLIN — Clarence E. Perrin, 86, died Nov. 23 at Cedar Living Center of Oberlin. He was born Oct. 29, 1916, at Allison, the son of Dillard H. and Nancy M. Thayer Perrin. He attended school in Jennings. He married Bernice Edgell on Feb. 13, 1939, at Mt. Pleasant. She died July 1, 1994. A resident of Oberlin since 1979, he was a farmer. Perrin was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Willard Perrin of Oberlin; three daughters, Betty Lee of Pawnee Rock, Carolyn Brockway of Salina and Eula Doggett of Saugerties, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Perrin; one brother, Glen Perrin; and two sisters, Bertha McConell and Ruber Bainter Johnston. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin. Burial will be at Oberlin Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday, all at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Viola M. Baldwin 1932-2002
LA CROSSE — Viola M. Baldwin, 70, died Nov. 24 at Hays Medical Center of Hays. She was born Feb. 29, 1932, at La Crosse, the daughter of Christopher and Bertha Schaffer Moeder. She married Beverly B. Baldwin on Aug. 28, 1952, at Hoisington. A lifetime resident of Rush County, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of La Crosse, past member of St. Michael’s Altar Society and a religious education teacher for many years. Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Richard L. Baldwin of McCracken and Robert D. Baldwin of La Crosse; two daughters, Karen A. Aufdemberge of Hays and Sharon K. Nottingham of Lawrence; four brothers, Delbert Moeder of Hartsel, Colo., John Moeder of Hays, Robert Moeder of Arvada, Colo., and Raymond Moeder of Oklahoma City. Okla.; one sister, Delores Bongartz of Ellis; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna M. Lobmeyer; two brothers, Willard Moeder and Gary Moeder; and one sister, Anita Halling. Vigil service and rosary will be at 7 tonight at Janousek Funeral Home of La Crosse. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Charles Mazouch officiating. Burial will be at La Crosse City Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until 8 tonight at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6-7 tonight at the funeral home. Melvin H. Steinle 1930-2002
DORRANCE - Melvin H. Steinle, 72, died Nov. 23 at his residence at Dorrance. He was born April 27, 1930, at Dorrance, the son of Henry T. and Irene P. Coffey Steinle. He married Fern Wire on Sept. 17, 1949, at Dubuque. A lifetime resident of Dorrance, he was a farmer and stockman. Steinle was a member of First Lutheran Church of Dorrance. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Alan Steinle of Stockton; one daughter, Barbara Trickle of Bonner Springs; one brother, Dean Steinle of Kimberling City, Mo.; one sister, Vera Luker of Parkville, Mo.; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Diane Wagner officiating. Burial will be at Dorrance City Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight at Foster Mortuary and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Nov. 25, 2002

Arthur S. Jenisch 1918-2002
ODIN - Arthur S. Jenisch, 84, died Nov. 24 at Central Kansas Medical Center of Great Bend. He was born March 4, 1918, at Odin, the son of Joseph and Frances Tinkel Jenisch. He married Leona L. Schneweis on Oct. 16, 1946, at Odin. A lifetime resident of Odin, he was a retired farmer. Jenisch was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, both of Odin. He was a U.S. veteran, having served during World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Melvin Jenisch of Wichita; one brother, Frank Jenisch of Odin; and four sisters, Ann Boor, Mary Wondra and Eleanor Ille, all of Odin, and Hilda Ille of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joeseph Jenisch and Albert Jenisch; and three sisters, Gertruede Gerritzen, Olivia Debes and Frances Zorn. Family rosary, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary, will be at 7 tonight, both at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home of Hoisington. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Pascal Klein officiating. Burial will be at Holy Family cemetery of Odin. Friends may call from 1-9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home. Nov. 25, 2002

Diane Jackson 1941-2002
Diane Jackson, 60, of Great Bend, died Nov. 19 at Cherry Village Continuum of Care Facility of great Bend. She was born Nov. 23, 1941, at Bartow, Fla., the daughter of Robert Eli and Audrey McBride Peacock. A resident of Great Bend since 1968, she was a homemaker. Survivors include three sons, Phillip Jackson of Great Bend, Bob Jackson of Geneseo and Garry Jackson of Gig Harbor, Wash.; one brother, Robert V. Peacock of Naples, Fla.; one sister, Wanda Tyson of Bartow; and seven grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held. Cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Cherry Village Assisted Living of Great Bend, in care of Parsons Funeral Home of Ellsworth. Nov. 21, 2002

Walter Whitney Reynolds 1937-2002
Walter Whitney Reynolds, 65, of Great Bend, died Nov. 15 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Wichita. He was born March 1, 1937, at Holly, Colo., the son of Israel and Lola Marie Cope Reynolds. He married Gloria Rankin on May 1, 1959. A resident of Great Bend for 41 years, he was a handyman, worked at Sears, and was a longtime employee of Kelly's Water Well Service. Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons, Walter D. Reynolds and John W. Reynolds, both of Great Bend, Robert L. Reynolds of Abilene and Clyde E. Reynolds of Lawrence; one daughter, Annie M. Whaley of Great Bend; four brothers, Jim Reynolds of Stockheim, Germany, Wesley Reynolds of Marlow, Okla., Morris Reynolds of Hermiston, Ore., and Leonard Reynolds of Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Clara Marie Allen of Denver, Colo., Idella Hill of Sacramento. Calif., and Alice Barnes of Canon City, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and one step grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Reynolds and infant, John Wesley Reynolds. Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Fryberger Mortuary Chapel of Great Bend with the Rev. Don Paden officiating. Private family burial will be at Holly cemetery of Holly. Memorials are suggested to Walter W. Reynolds Memorial Fund, in care of the mortuary. Nov. 21, 2002
