Peggy Summers 1951-2002
WICHITA - Peggy Summers, 51, died April 28. She was born Jan 24, 1951, the daughter of Wilbur and Lela Mabel Bettes. She married Wesley Summers Feb. 13, 1971. A resident of Wichita, coming from Great Bend and raised in Burdett, she was retired as an assistant director of nurses at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Darrel Summers of Wichita; three daughters, Sandra Palmer, Cathie Mooney and Renee Summers, all of Wichita; her mother of Great Bend; five brothers, Clyde Bettes and Alvin Bettes, both of Salina, Jim Bettes of Greensburg, Kenny Bettes of Pratt and Donnie Bettes of Great Bend; two sisters, Mary Thompson of Dodge City and Nancy Garland of Ukiah, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Kara, Kurtis, Krista and Sean, all of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur Bettes. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at River of Life Church, 1219 Main St., in Great Bend. There is no visitation. Send flowers and cards to the church. May 1, 2002

Joseph B. Rohling 1911-2002
CUNNINGHAM - Joseph B. Rohling, 90, died April 29 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita. He was born Sept. 21, 1911, at Waterloo, the son of Herman and Anna Kruep Rohling. He married Lucy Ebencamp Aug. 27, 1935, at Cunningham. A longtime resident of Cunningham, he was a retired production and drilling superintendent for Skelly Oil. Rohling was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Leo Knights of Columbus, both of Cunningham. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Richard Rohling of Pratt; four daughters, Mary Kummer of Great Bend, Marlene Miller of Ingalls, JoAnn Clouse of Goodland and Janet Schield of Spearville; one brother, Herman Rohler of Kingman; one sister, Pauline Depenbusch of Zenda; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry Rohler, Leo Rohler, Raymond Rohler and Vic Rohler; three sisters, Anna Detmer, Mary Meng and Cecilia Epp; and one grandson, Christopher Miller. Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today at the church in Cunningham with the Rev. John Miller officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church or Pratt Regional Medical Center Home Health, both in care of Livingston Funeral Home in Kingman. May 1, 2002

Florene B. Bradshaw 1932-2002
JETMORE - Florene B. Bradshaw, 70, died April 28 at Wesley Medical Complex in Wichita. She was born Jan. 1, 1932, at Okmulgee, Okla., the daughter of Abe and Sallie Maloney Smith. She married Paul I. Bradshaw Sr. Aug. 12, 1950, at Independence. A longtime resident of Jetmore, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Bradshaw was a member of Riverside Church of God in Christ of Garden City. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Rodney Bradshaw of Jetmore; seven daughters, Corellia Sue Johnson and Debra Weaver, both of Wichita, Janice Hamilton of Houston, Texas, Pamela Bell of Sterling, Carole Middlton of Wichita Falls, Texas, Cheryl Buckner of Dodge City and Joyci Bradshaw of Jetmore; one brother, Leo Gullick of Independence; two sisters, Pauline Boyce and Flossie Jones, both of Wichita; and 30 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Paul Bradshaw Jr., and several brothers and sisters. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Jetmore with Bishop J.C. Gilkey officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount cemetery in Jetmore. Friends may call until 8 tonight, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, all at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore. Memorials are suggested to Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center of Jetmore, in care of the funeral home. May 1, 2002

Edythe Marie Cochrane 1945-2002
TULSA, Okla. - Edythe Marie Cochrane, 57, died May 29 at her residence in Tulsa. She was born Jan. 4, 1945, at Great Bend, the daughter of George and Ruth Pohlman Whitsel. A resident of Tulsa for 10 years, coming from Great Bend, she was a homemaker. Cochrane was a member of Pentecostal Way Church of Tulsa. Survivors include one son, Larry Cochrane of Tulsa; two daughters, Sonja King of Monet, Mo., and Sally Potts of Ellensburg, Wash.; two sisters, Evelyn Allen of Siloam Springs, Ark., and LeaAnn Gruber of Tulsa; and seven grandchildren. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Great Bend cemetery with the Rev. David Leroy officiating. Cremation has taken place by Cremation Society of Oklahoma in Tulsa. No memorials are suggested. June 28, 2002

Charles W. Sessler 1919-2002
ELLINWOOD - Charles W. Sessler, 82, died June 25 at Ellinwood District Hospital. He was born Nov. 9, 1919, at Ellinwood, the son of Charles August and Rosa Kaufman Sessler. He was a 1937 graduate of Ellinwood Rural High School. He married LaVon C. Soeken on Jan. 21, 1940, at Ellinwood. A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, he was a farmer. Sessler was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rotary Club, Optimist Club, Lions Club, Gideon's International, International Flying Farmers and Lutheran Laymen's League. He was also a former Barton County commissioner, former member of Barton County Rural Schools Board of Education, former member of USD 355 Board of Education and former member of Wheatland School 105 School Board. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Marvin Sessler of Ellinwood; one daughter, Rosalyn Borchers of Great Bend; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jolene Brauer; three brothers, Martin Sessler, Everett Sessler and Lawrence Sessler; and one sister, Johanna Rinker. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lakin-Comanche District cemetery in Ellinwood. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church in Ellinwood with the Rev. Andy Keltner officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to the church building fund or The Lutheran Hour, both in care of the funeral home. June 27, 2002

Diana M. Kirkham 1952-2002
Diana M. Kirkham, 50, of Great Bend, died June 24 at her residence in Great Bend. She was born Feb. 2, 1952, at Larned, the daughter of Loris E. and Joyce Lamb Kirkham. A resident of Great Bend, she was owner of All-Way's Mobile Pet Grooming. Kirkham was a member of Livingway Christian Church in San Antonio, Texas. Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins, via long term friendships. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Clyde Snyder. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Free Methodist Church in Osborne with the Rev. Roberta Ganzer officiating. Burial will be at Kill Creek cemetery in rural Osborne. Friends may call from 2-8 tonight at Clark-Gashaw Mortuary in Osborne. Memorials are suggested to Great Bend Animal Shelter, in care of the funeral home. June 27, 2002

Sister Camillus Bayer 1926-2002
Sister Camillus Bayer, 75, of Great Bend, died June 24 at the Dominican Sisters' convent infirmary in Great Bend. She was born Sept. 12, 1926, at Willowdale, as Clara Cora Bayer, the daughter of William and Margaret Gehlen Bayer. She entered the Dominican Sisters' Community on Aug. 24, 1943, and pronounced her first vows on Aug. 13, 1946. She celebrated 50 years of religious profession in 1996. Sister Camillus was a registered nurse and pioneer physical therapist in the Dominican Sisters' Community. For much of her ministerial life she was very active in ministry to the handicapped and to the visually impaired. She received her Library of Congress certification in Braille transcribing in 1980. Sister Camillus was a member of Central Kansas Association for the Visually Impaired, Kansas Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the American Council of the Blind and Lions Club Evening. She was instrumental in starting CKAVI in Great Bend in 1985 and served as its first president. In 1991 she received the Eleanor A. Wilson award for her accomplishments in the ministry to the visually impaired. Survivors include six brothers, Daniel Bayer of Great Bend, Walter Bayer of Norwich, Ralph Bayer of Laurens, Iowa, Herman Bayer of Mountain Grove, Mo., Leonard Bayer and Marion Bayer, both of Kingman; and four sisters, Sister Corona Bayer of Great Bend, Genevieve Klein of Charleston, Ark., Joan Payne of Lyndon and Martina Young of Satanta. Sister Camillus's body will be brought to the hospitality area of the Dominican Chapel of the Plains in Great Bend at 3 p.m. Thursday, where it will lie in state until the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at the convent. A wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the convent. Burial will be at the Sisters' Resurrection cemetery in Great Bend. Friends may call from 3-9 tonight at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend and from 3-9 p.m. Thursday at the convent. Memorials are suggested to Dominican Sisters Retirement Fund or CKAVI, in care of the funeral home. June 26, 2002

Floyd T. Ramsey 1907-2002
BUSHTON - Floyd T. Ramsey, 95, died June 24 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. He was born April 12, 1907, at Stillwater, Okla. He married Agnes. She died May 10, 1988. A resident of Bushton, coming from Wichita and Valley Center, he was a retired Local Union 83 boilermaker. Ramsey was a member of Boilermakers Local 83 in Kansas City, Mo. Survivors include two sons, Roger Ramsey of Valley Center and Stan Ramsey of Bushton; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita. No memorials are suggested. June 26, 2002

Terry Joe 'T.J.' Suchy 1952-2002
EMPORIA - Terry Joe "T.J." Suchy, 49, died June 25 at his residence in Emporia. He was born Nov. 8, 1952, at Great Bend, the son of Elmer and Esther Ruth Daubert Suchy. He married Faye Ellen George on Nov. 27, 1989, in Emporia. A resident of Emporia since 1966, coming from Great Bend and Westphalia, he was a heating and air conditioning technician for Burlington Comfort Center of Emporia. Suchy was a member of Rock of Life Church in Emporia. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Samual Suchy of the home and James Suchy of Emporia; three daughters, Crystal Suchy of the home, Maranda Suchy and Jamie Gurney, both of Emporia; one brother, Robert Daubert of Virginia; two sisters, Shirley Weimer and Sharon Meyer, both of Emporia; and one grandchild. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of Charter Funerals of Emporia. June 26, 2002

Roxanne Teel 1954-2002
GERALD, Mo. - Roxanne Teel, 47, died June 23 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo. She was born July 2, 1954, at Stafford, the daughter of Milton R. and Darlene Mae Bowden. She was a 1972 graduate of St. John High School and a 1974 graduate of Brown Mackey College in Salina. She married Walter Lee Teel on Sept. 20, 1975, at St. John. He died Sept. 28, 1986. A resident of Gerald since 1999, coming from St. John, Oklahoma and Wyoming, she was a transcriptionist for 20 years at Sweetwater Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri. Mrs. Teel was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Green River, Wyo. Survivors include her father and stepmother, Milton R. and Estella Bowden of St. John; two brothers, Rick Bowden of Topeka and Rex Bowden of Hutchinson; and one sister, Rita Shain of Gerald. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview Park cemetery in St. John with the Rev. W. Harlan Rittgers officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 tonight at Minnis Chapel in St. John. Memorials are suggested to the Rev. Billy Graham Foundation, in care of the funeral home. June 25, 2002

Harriet Elizabeth Ford 1915-2002
LARNED - Harriet Elizabeth Ford, 87, died June 24 at Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse. She was born June 11, 1915, in Pawnee County, the daughter of Harry and Edna Louise McDowell Grandy. She married Malvin Wilhelm Ford on Sept. 18, 1938, at Garfield. He died Oct. 4, 1983. A lifetime resident of Larned, moving to La Crosse three years ago, she was a secretary for Larned State Hospital for 25 years until her retirement. Mrs. Ford was a member of United Methodist Church of Rozel and Fairfield Grange of Larned. Survivors include two sons, Edward Ford of Great Bend and Arlyn Ford of Ft. Lupton, Colo.; five daughters, Sandra McConnaughhay of Kechi, Nelda Pakkebier of Rush Center, Treva Johnson of Littleton, Colo., Twyla Holley of Kingman and Oveta Ford of Hays; one sister, Dorothy Shottenkirk of Salina; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Truman Grandy; and two sisters, Glenna Dougan and Mary Carden. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned with the Rev. Marilyn Christmore officiating. Burial will be at Garfield Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, all at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association or donor's choice, both in care of the mortuary. Leo A. Wondra 1930-2002
CLAFLIN - Leo A. Wondra, 72, died June 23 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita. He was born May 29, 1930, at rural Odin, the son of Alfred and Regina Kirmer Wondra. He married Rose Ann Bahr on Aug. 29, 1956, at Olmitz. A lifetime resident of the Odin and Claflin areas, he was a self-employed contract pumper and worked many years as assistant manager of Holyrood Co-op, until his retirement in 1995. Wondra was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, past member of Claflin Fire Department and an emergency medical technician with the Claflin Ambulance service, all of Claflin. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Gary Wondra of Olmitz; three daughters, Lois Demel of Claflin, Cheryl Klepper of Ellinwood and Bernetta Burkhart of Hutchinson; his mother of Ellinwood; four brothers, Bernard Wondra of Hoisington, Ambrose Wondra and Jerome Wondra, both of Claflin, and Norbert Wondra of Erie, Pa.; five sisters, Mary Rose Oberle and Ann Oberle, both of Claflin, Leona Canfield of Great Bend, Theresa Schremmer and Doris Morgan, both of Wichita; and eight grandchildren. Family rosary will be at 7:30 tonight at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. David Flagor officiating. Burial will be at Claflin Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church, Claflin Ambulance Fund or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, all in care of the funeral home. June 25, 2002

Eva Mae Prosser 1916-2002
MEDICINE LODGE - Eva Mae Prosser, 85, died June 21 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. She was born July 29, 1916, at Crescent, Okla., the daughter of Jacob and Annie Harned Campbell. She married Marl L. Prosser on Jan. 1, 1935, at Crescent. He died July 8, 2001. A resident of Medicine Lodge for 36 years, coming from Bushton, she was a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters, Marlene of Wichita and Linda of Mission; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary L. Prosser; three brothers; and three sisters. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Highland cemetery in Medicine Lodge with the Rev. Bill Evans officiating. Friends may call until 8 tonight at Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home in Medicine Lodge. Memorials are suggested to Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, in care of the funeral home. June 24, 2002
