MILFORD, Iowa - Jack Keener, 69, died Feb. 18 at a hospital in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He was born July 3, 1932, in Hoisington, the son of John and Lyda White Keener. Keener was a resident of Arnolds Park, Iowa, coming from the Great Bend area. Survivors include his wife, Kay, of the home; and two daughters. Funeral will be at 1:30 pm. Friday at Good News Community Church in Okoboji, Iowa. Burial will be at Riverside cemetery in Spencer, Iowa. Clyde Wendell Durheim 1909-2002
Clyde Wendell Durheim, 93 of Great Bend, died Feb. 19 at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas. He was born Jan. 8, 1909, in Hoisington, the son of Ferdinand and Fannie Ridlen Durheim. He married
Edith Louise Cook Aug. 2, 1930, at Great Bend. She died April 18, 1994. Durheim was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge and Elks BPO Lodge 1127, all of Great Bend. Survivors include one son, Harold Skip Durheim of Prairie Village; one daughter, Susan Richards of Arlington; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, James Edward Durheim; one brother, Clifford Durheim; and two sisters, Lucille Kindsvater and Frances Taylor. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, with the Rev. Diana Coberly officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. SALINA - Emma Marie Bean, infant, died Feb. 17. She was born Feb. 17, the daughter of Mike and Angela Bean. Survivors include her parents of Salina, formally of Great Bend; her grandparents, Ken Bean of Garden City, Barbara Bean of Salina, and Steve and Sherilyn Pientka of Abilene; and her great-grandparents, Ruby Bean of Sedalia, Mo., Geraldine White of Kansas City, John and Edna Pientka and Vernon and Dorcas Brandt, all of Abilene. Howard H. Reukauf 1920-2002
LARNED - Howard H. Reukauf, 81, died Feb. 21 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph Long Term Care in Larned. He was born May 14, 1920, in Cheektowata, N.Y., the son of Fred and Johanna Stradtman Reukauf. He married
Wanda K. Moore Nov. 15, 1945, in Topeka. She died Jan. 21, 2002. A Larned resident since 1920, he was a retired installation manager for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Reukauf was a member of First Christian Church and Jack Kreiger Post Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Larned. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include one son, Greg Reukauf of Liberal; one daughter, Kathy Mikols of Wichita; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned with the Rev. Dan Lundgren officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. RIDGWAY, Ill. - Pamela Ann Blake Miller, 41, died Feb. 20 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ill. She was born Oct. 12, 1960, in Winfield, the daughter of James and Ella Lee Duke Blake. Survivors include two sons, Blake Moore and Matthew Moore, both of Ridgway; her stepfather, Donald Bender of Winfield; four brothers, Bill Blake of Chula Vista, Calif., Rick Blake of Larned, Michael Asbury of Winfield and Ken Massie of San Francisco, Calif.; and two stepsisters, Pam Bener and Angela Bender, both of Winfield. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Miller; one brother, James Blake Jr.; and one sister, Connie Beaumont. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, Ill. James H. Thornburg 1939-2002
WICHITA - James H. Thornburg, 63, died Feb. 21. A resident of Wichita, he was a retired Pinkerton security guard. Survivors include two brothers, Robert Thornburg of Olivehurst, Calif., and Connie Thornburg of Clinton, MO.; one sister, Kay Staab of Wichita, and one adopted sister, Misty Thornburg of Wichita. Graveside service, with full military honors will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery in Great Bend. Visitation was Saturday. There are no memorials suggested. JACKSONVILLE, Texas - Duwaine K. Pinkard, 87, died Feb. 23 at Jacksonville. She was born Nov. 3, 1914, in Ellinwood. She married
William T. "Bill" Pinkard Sr. He preceded her in death. A resident of Jacksonville, she was a Texas Bank secretary for 35 years. Mrs. Pinkard was a member of Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church, Lady of Lasalette Altar Society, secretary of the church, all of Jacksonville, and National Council of Catholic Women. Survivors include one son, William T. Pinkard Jr. of Plano, Texas; three daughters, Beth Long of Rusk, Texas, Nancy Tucker of Arlington, Texas, and Mary Hanley of Sugar Land, Texas; two sisters, Pauline Berscheidt of Great Bend and Catherine Cranton of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Charles H. Thompson Sr., 85 of Great Bend, died Feb. 20 at Integrated Health Services of Great Bend. He was born June 4, 1916, at Columbia, Tenn., the son of Willie D. and Callie Alexander Thompson. He married
Margaret A. Mitchell on Nov. 30, 1992, in Great Bend. A lifelong resident of Barton County, he was a career military person. Thompson was a member of Myers Chapel of Great Bend and a former member of American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife of the home; five stepdaughters, Monica Givens of Monticello, Ark., Tisa Jones of Rockhill, Mo., Lisa Daniels and Tricia Johnson, both of Great Bend, and Kristina Johnson of Hyattsville, Md.; and nine step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles H. Thompson Jr.; two brothers, William A. Thompson and Robert D. Thompson; and one sister, Virginia I. Guliford. PRATT - Darrell Dean Dover, 75, died Feb. 23 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born March 8, 1926, at Dodge City, the son of William Lou and Bonnie Kathlene Hendricks Dover. He was a graduate of Dodge City High School. He married
Glennas Gum on June 20, 1948, at Dodge City. A longtime resident of Pratt, he was a retired insurance salesman. Dover was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Pratt. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Philippines in World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Kim Lee Dover, Kris Dean Dover and Kerry Lynn Dover, all of Pratt; two daughters, Melody Ann Siroky of Pratt and Melinda Kay Koonce of Newton; four brothers, Billy L. Dover of Borger, Texas, Robert L. Dover of Benton, Norman E. Dover of Pueblo, Colo., and Larry L. Dover of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Donna Farrington of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild. HOISINGTON - Judy K. Ochs, 63, died Feb. 24 at her residence in Hoisington. She was born July 19, 1938, in Enid, Okla., the daughter of John and Mary Croxtan Sherman. She married
Robert G. Ochs on March 10, 1956, in Colorado. He died Dec. 13, 1988. A longtime resident of Hoisington, she was a certified nurses aid at the nursing home in Hoisington. Mrs. Ochs was a member of First United Methodist Church, active in the church choir and Stephen's Ministries, all of Hoisington. Survivors include three sons, Dan Ochs of Bolivar, Mo., Robert Ochs of Del Rio, Texas, and Jason Ochs of Wichita; four daughters, Merri Basque and Melody Unrein, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., Esther Hughes of Hoisington and Linette Rhodes of Redmond, Wash.; two brothers, Richard Sherman of Enid, Okla., and Mike Sherman of Denver, Colo.; four sisters, Gwen Godfrey of Albuquerque, N.M., Iris Hammond of Midland, Texas, Pam Sherman of Denver and Linda Todd of Kansas City, Mo.; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jack Ochs and Randall Ochs; and one granddaughter, Kirsten Ochs. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Wayne Flanders officiating. CAMERON PARK, Calif. - Mary Eleanor Harris, 84, died Feb. 22 in Cameron Park, Calif. She was born Feb. 23, 1917, in St. John, the daughter of John and Ella Stroble. She married
William W. Harris. He preceded her in death. She then married
George Hahn. He also preceded her in death. A resident of Cameron Park, she worked with her father in his veterinary practice in Madison, S.D., for many years and was a business teacher. Mrs. Harris was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in El Dorado Hills, Calif. Survivors include one son, Jim Harris of El Dorado Hills; one sister, Merle Traylor of Albuquerque, N.M.; and two grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. LARNED - Nadine Pearl Smith, 80, died Feb. 23 at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater. She was born Jan. 19, 1922, at Larned, the daughter of Lindie S. and Martha E. Bradley Roberts. She married
Ray Ross Smith Jr. on Nov. 5, 1942, in Great Bend. He died July 9, 1992. A lifetime resident of Larned, she was a retired secretary at Larned State Hospital. Mrs. Smith was a member of First Christian Church of Larned. Survivors include four daughters, Karen Hooker of Nashville, Tenn., Kay Booth of Rittman, Ohio, Karyle McMannama of BeaverCreek, Ohio, and Kathy Keller of Marshall, Mich.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur Roberts, Raymond Roberts, Earl Roberts and Otis Roberts; and one sister, Lora Williams. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Larned Cemetery, with the Rev. Dan Lundgren officiating.
