LARNED Center, St. Joseph Campus in Larned. She was born Jan. 28, 1909, at Rosalia, Wash., the daughter of Benjamin and Dora Payne Siler. A resident of Larned since 1999, coming from Cleveland, Okla., she was a homemaker. She married
Ralph H. Steele, Feb. 6, 1930, at Kingfisher, Okla. He died in 1962. Mrs. Steele was a member of the Christian Church and Eastern Star both of Tonkawa, Okla. Survivors include three sons, Ralph E. Steele of Stockton, Mo., Benny R. Steele of Stillwater, Okla., and Ronald W. Steele of Austin, Texas; one daughter E. Joan Reep of Larned; one brother, Merle Siler of Oklahoma City, Okla.; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Everett Siler and three sisters, Letha Poole, Edith Gaddis, Wilma Hayes. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the International Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tonkawa, Okla., with the Rev. Edward Zickefoose officiating. June M. Revel 1915-2002
LYONS - June M. Revel, 86, died Jan. 29 at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson. She was born June 10, 1915, at Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of James Louis and Nettie Easly Tucker. She married
Wilbur B. Revel, June 7, 1932, at Great Bend. A resident of Hutchinson since 1997, coming from Lyons, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Revel was a member of First Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary both of Lyons. Survivors include her husband of the home; one daughter, Rosalie Danks of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Gene Revel; one daughter, Joan Ramella; three brothers, Dick Tucker, Mark Tucker, and Lowell Tucker; five sisters, Mae Nelson, Ethel Oden, Velma Schafer, Zell Hayden, and Edith Braton. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sillin Funeral Home in Lyons, with the Rev. Robert Friesen officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal cemetery in Lyons. HANSTON in Jetmore. He was born Oct. 16 at Hanston, the son of George and Maidie Hoff Powell. A lifetime Hanston resident, he was a farmer stockman. He married

Powell was a member of United Methodist Church, church board member, serving as lay leader, trustee, and on the finance committee, Farmers Coop board, and school board member, all of Hanston. Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Coleen Cure, of Hanston; one son Eugene Powell of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two sisters Berniece Dixon of Larned; Sylvia Hoagland of Burdett; six grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Birdie Macy, and Hazel Salmans; four brothers; Chester Powell, Lester Powell, Merle Powell and George Powell. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church, with the Rev. Mitch Reece officiating. Charles J. Schiller, Nov. 25, 1947, at Olmitz. He died Oct. 6, 1994. A resident of rural Odin, coming from Beaver, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Schiller was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and St. Ann Altar Society, both of Odin. Survivors include one son, Joseph C. Schiller of Hoisington; one daughter, Elizabeth Klima of Columbus, Ga.; one brother, Bernard Stos of Otis; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Schiller; and three brothers, Joseph Stos, Leo Stos, and Leonard Stos. Family rosary will be at 7 p.m. tonight; Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday followed by a St. Ann Altar Society rosary, all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. LA CROSSE - Leah E. Erbes, 91, died Jan. 28 at Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in La Crosse. She was born Jan. 14, 1911, in Bison, the daughter of John and Marie Elizabeth Lindt Erbes. She was a graduate of Bison High School and attended beauty school in Enid, Okla. A life long resident of Rush County, she was a retired cosmetologist. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Bible study group, Rebecah Lodge, United Methodist Women and Sixty Plus, all of La Crosse. Survivors include one brother, Clarence Erbes of La Crosse. She was preceded in death by one sister, Bertha Bailey. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Janousek Funeral Home Chapel in La Crosse, with the Rev. Marilyn Christmore officiating. Ruth E. Smalley 1914-2002
JETMORE - Ruth E. Smalley, 87, died Jan. 28 at Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center in Jetmore. She was born April 18, 1914, in rural Hodgeman County, the daughter of Oscar and Rebecca Duncan Smalley. A longtime resident of Jetmore, she worked as a bookkeeper for W.W. Virtue Mercantile Company, Coca Cola Bottling Co. and Dodge City Globe. She also was a school teacher in Hodgeman, Sumner and Cowley counties. She was a member of United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, both of Jetmore and Dodge City, Business Professional Women and Delivered Meals on Wheels. Survivors include two sisters, Grace Watt of Winfield and Mary Wilson of Jetmore. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Jetmore, with the Rev. Mitch Reece officiating. Wanda I. Morris Pryor, 86, of Great Bend, died Jan. 28 at her residence. She was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Augusta, the daughter of Roy Ward and Leora Jackman Morris. She was a graduate of El Dorado High School. She married
M.F. "Hap" Pryor Oct. 8, 1936, in El Dorado. He died Oct. 26, 1979. A resident of Great Bend since 1937, coming from El Dorado, she worked as a secretary for her husband's geological consulting business and was a homemaker. Mrs. Pryor was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus Auxiliary, both in Great Bend. Survivors include one son, Kenneth Pryor of the home; one daughter, Connie Strobel of Great Bend; one sister, Inez Hamilton of Corpus Christi, Texas; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Brenton Morris. Altar Society rosary will be at 3 today at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Vigil service will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home. Preston Maynard Dickens Jr., 78, of Great Bend, died Jan. 28 at Integrated Health Services in Great Bend. He was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Springfield, Mo., the son of Preston Maynard Sr. and Alta Lois Calahan Dickens. He married
Mary Jane Young Oct. 12, 1946, in Pratt. A resident of Great Bend since 1953, coming from Pratt, he worked as a welder and salesman before he retired. He worked as a pizza deliveryman in his retirement years. Dickens was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Great Bend. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Dale LeRoy Dickens of Great Bend and Ronald Preston Dickens of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Cynthia Jane Dolechek of Albert; one sister, Dorothy Helen Mills of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Dickens and Phillip Leon Dickens; and two sisters, Gale Dickens and Gwendolyn Banta. WILSON - David J. Miller, 22, died Jan. 8. He was born Dec. 10, 1979, in Russell, the son of Gary and Joyce Kraus. A college student at Kansas State University, he worked at Wilson Wildlife and Parks and at KSU Alumni Association. Miller was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity at KSU. Norma Louise Briel, 92, of Great Bend, died Jan. 29 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. She was born Aug. 21, 1909, in Clarence Township, Barton County, the daughter of William Frederick and Meta Marie Clara Schuster Dunekack. She married
Edwin Gustave Briel May 1, 1938, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Barton County. He died Nov. 22, 1995. A lifelong resident of Barton County, she worked as a deputy clerk for the Barton County District Court. Mrs. Briel was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Deborah Circle and BPW, all of Great Bend. Survivors include two sons, Jonathan E. Briel of Great Bend and James J. Briel of Pratt; one daughter, Joyce M. Gallo of Washington, Mich.; one sister, Marie Isern of Ellinwood; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith M. Maness; and two brothers, Wilbur Dunekack and Vernon Dunekack. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Revs. Dr. Gary W. Teske and David E. Carlson officiating. William Robert Grove 1908-2002
LARNED - William Robert Grove, 93, died Jan. 18 at his home in University Village, Va. He was born Feb. 26, 1908, in Larned. He was a 1940 graduate of the University of Michigan's Architecture School of Design. He married
Jessie Blackwell in 1946. A resident of University Village, coming from Omaha, Neb. and Larned, he was a building contractor. Grove was a U.S. Navy Seabee veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater of operations. Survivors include his wife of the home; one stepdaughter, Betty Lou Middleditch of Charlottesville, Va.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and their is no visitation. Inurnment will be at a later date in Larned, with Beckwith Mortuary in charge of local arrangements. Jan. 29, 2002

WICHITA - Kenneth F. "Tiny" Dolecek, 81, died Jan. 26 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born July 1, 1920, in Holyrood, the son of John H. and Helen Agnes Jurenka Dolecek. He married
Lavena McNeil. She preceded him in death. A resident of Wichita, coming from Holyrood, he was a retired employee for Coleman Company in Wichita. Dolecek was a member of Albert Pike Masonic Lodge of Wichita and American Legion Post of Holyrood. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include one son, Bruce Dolecek of Andover; one daughter, Mary Helen Gleason of Genesee, Pa.; one sister, Marjorie Steen of Wichita; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Doris Knop Aug. 16, 1936, in Ellinwood. She died Dec. 18, 1999. A lifelong resident of Ellinwood, he was a farmer and former owner of DeWerff Hardware and Plumbing and Culligan Soft Water, both of Ellinwood. DeWerff was a member of St. Johnıs Lutheran Church in Ellinwood. Survivors include three sons, Duane L. DeWerff of Albuquerque, N.M., Lloyd H. DeWerff of Vancouver, Wash., and Glen H. DeWerff of Kansas City; one daughter, Linda S. Lebbin of Scott City; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lena DeWerff Wise.
