Larry Dean Brack 1939-2001
GORHAM - Larry Dean Brack, 62, died Dec. 18 at his home in Gorham. He was
born June 22, 1939, in Great Bend, the son of Jacob W. and Bonita Brack. He
was a graduate of Russell High School. A resident of Gorham, he worked as a
heavy equipment operator for pipeline construction.
Brack was a member of American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his mother of Russell; and one sister, Jacquelyn Monroe
of Great Bend.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pohlman's Mortuary Memorial Chapel
in Russell, with the Rev. Earl Haggard officiating. Burial will be at 1
p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran cemetery in Otis. Friends may call from
noon to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary. Casket will be closed. Memorials are
suggested to Russell Vet Clinic - Alley Cat Program, in care of the
mortuary.

Blanche Mikulecky 1914-2001
WILSON - Blanche Mikulecky, 87, died Dec. 21 at Wilson Nursing Center in
Wilson. She was born May 20, 1914, in Russell County, the daughter of
Vaclav and Mary Pospisil Soukup. She married
Merrine Mikulecky. He preceded
her in death. A resident of Wilson, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Ann Homeier and Carol Petz, both of
Wilson, Donna Super of Russell and Rita Mikulecky of Shawnee, Okla.; one
sister, Dorothy Claussen of Alma; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by one sister, Matilda Mallas.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Foster Mortuary Chapel in Wilson, with
the Rev. Elaine Lord officiating. Burial will be at Wilson City Cemetery.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. today at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested
to Wilson Opera House, in care of the mortuary.

Mary Elizabeth Briggs Flick 1920-2001
PAWNEE ROCK - Mary Elizabeth Briggs Flick, 81, died Dec. 21 in Topeka. She
was born June 25, 1920, in Hutchinson, the daughter of John Horton and Meda
Gabrielson Briggs. She married
Thomas Alvin Flick in Nov. 1947. He died
Dec. 24, 1984. A resident of the Dover area, coming from Pawnee Rock, she
was a school teacher at Pawnee Rock and Kiowa and a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, John Flick of Trousdale, and Philip Flick of
Dover, and Doug Flick of Great Bend; and six grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pawnee Rock United Methodist Church
in Pawnee Rock. Friends may call from noon until service time Thursday at
the church. Memorials are suggested to Friends of Library, Topeka and
Shawnee County Public Library or the donor's choice, both in care of
Beckwith Mortuary in Larned.

Norlene Gladys Stevenson Flickinger 1918-2001
SAFFORDVILLE - Norlene Gladys Stevenson Flickinger, 83, died Dec. 18 at
Holiday Resort Care Center in Emporia. She was born July 16, 1918, in
Emporia, the daughter of Ray G. and Izora Maude Cowen Cooley. She was a
graduate of Emporia State University. She married
Herbert E. Stevenson Dec.
24, 1939. He died Nov. 19, 1991 in Plymouth. She married
Elmer Flickinger
May 12, 1994, in Saffordville. A resident of Saffordville, coming from
Emporia, she was a bookkeeper and school teacher in Saffordville and Toledo.
Mrs. Flickinger was a member of United Methodist Church and Order of the
Eastern Star, both of Saffordville.
Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, John R. Stevenson of
Oxford, Ohio; two daughters, Nola Hively-Bewley of Waverly and Marjorie I.
Guesnier of Westminster, Colo.; five grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ione Yenzer.
Memorial service was Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Rita Joy
Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Grandview cemetery at a later date.
The deceased donated her body to the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Parkinson's Disease Greater Kansas City Chapter, all in care of
Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.

Bill D. Spreier 1939-2001
LARNED - Bill D. Spreier, 62, died Dec. 19 at his home in Larned. He was
born Nov. 17, 1939, in Spearville, the son of Adam and Ruby E. Knoefler
Spreier. He married
Margaret Ann Hagerman June 4, 1960, at Peace Lutheran
Church in Albert. A lifelong resident of Larned, he was a farmer-stockman
and former Doerr Metal Products manager.
Spreier was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, church elder and treasurer,
4-H leader and past president of Larned Chamber of Commerce, all in Larned.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Jeff Spreier of Salina and
Tim Spreier of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and one brother, Eugene Spreier of
Oklahoma City, Okla.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ash Valley cemetery in
Ash Valley, with the Rev. John Drosendahl officiating. Friends may call
until 8 tonight at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned. Memorials are suggested to
Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice, in care of the mortuary.

Adolph Hiebert 1919-2001
LARNED - Adolph Hiebert, 82, died Dec. 19 at Salem Nursing Home in
Hillsboro. He was born June 14, 1919, in Marion County, the son of Peter E.
and Agnethia Schmidt Hiebert. He married
Eva Augusta Boese Nov. 12, 1940, in
Barton County. She died Oct. 31, 1990. A longtime resident of Larned, coming
from Pawnee Rock, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Pawnee County
and he was a farmer.
Hiebert was a member of Assembly of God Church in Larned.
Survivors include one son, David C. Hiebert of Broken Arrow, Okla.; one
daughter, E.R. "Angy" Parker of Larned; three sisters, Linda Klassen of
Goessel, Susie Lohrentz of Newton and Hilda Ratzloff of Hillsboro; and three
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Rudolph Hiebert; and
four sisters, Margaret Woelk, Anna Schmidt, Agnes Flaming and Helen Jantz.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned, with the
Rev. Richard Martin officiating. Burial will be at Larned City Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time
Saturday, all at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the church, in

Allen J. Petz 1928-2001
LA CROSSE - Allen J. Petz, 73, died Dec. 19 at his home in La Crosse. He was
born June 15, 1928, in Great Bend, the son of Richard J. and Mary A.
Weisenberg Petz. He married
Pat Petz June 9, 1980. A resident of La Crosse
for six years, coming from Ellinwood, he worked as a meat cutter.
Petz was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in La Crosse, and
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5657 and American Legion, both of Ellinwood.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include five sons, Allen Petz Jr. of Inman, Ted Petz of Salina,
Danny Petz of Aurora, Colo., Richard Petz of Denver, Colo., and Steve Petz
of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Connie Oetken of Olmitz and Cathy Castor
of Denver; one stepson, Tino Vieyra Jr. of Mobile, Ala.; six stepdaughters,
Terry Wilson of Independence, Mo., Brenda Vieyra of Clarksville, Tenn.,
Deidre Baker of Kinsley, Lisa Frame of Los Angeles, Calif., Sissy Saindon
and Mary Hughes, both of Great Bend; 11 grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers; and one granddaughter.
Rosary service will be at 7 tonight at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Benjamin
Martin officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Lakin Comanche
Cemetery in Ellinwood. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today at the funeral

Minnie Marie Cummins 1916-2001
DODGE CITY - Minnie Marie Cummins, 85, died Dec. 20 at the Hill Top House in
Bucklin. She was born March 4, 1916, in Eugene, Ore., the daughter of John
W. and Hattie Van Sickle Henry. She married
George R. Cummins Dec. 28, 1933,
in Dodge City. He died Aug. 1, 1995. A resident of Dodge City, coming from
California, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Cummins was a member of First Church of God in Dodge City.
Survivors include two sons, Harry Leroy Cummins and Robert E. Cummins, both
of Dodge City; and one daughter, Cheryl 'Ron' Hewes of Dodge City; 18
grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City,
with the Rev. Wilbert Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove
Cemetery in Dodge City. Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and

Mildred Flynn 1929-2001
MACOMB, Okla. - Mildred Flynn, 72, died Dec. 19 in Shawnee, Okla. She was
born July 28, 1929, in Sacred Heart, Okla., the daughter of Johnnie and
Beatrice Casteel Bruno. She was a graduate of Chillocco Indian School in
Chillocco, Okla. She married
Stanley Flynn Dec. 16, 1950. He preceded her in
death. A resident of Macomb, coming from Oxnard, Calif. and Ellinwood, she
worked as a cook, Native American cultural advisor in the Central Coast area
of California and a Citizen Potawatomi Tribal elder.
Survivors include three sons, Johnny Flynn of Muskogee Okla., Mike Flynn of
Denver, Colo. and Wes Flynn of Flagstaff, Ariz.; one daughter, Celesta Moody
of Moline, Ill.; one brother, J.B. Bruno of Great Bend; five sisters, Ruby
Withrow of Shawnee, Okla., Bobbie Shawn of Follette, Texas, Dorothy Hammonds
of Madill, Okla., Jenny Winsor of Cyril, Okla. and Theresa Hudson of Kansas
City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery, southwest
of Harjo, Okla., with the Rev. Leon Bruno officiating. Wake will be tonight
and continue through Saturday at Harjo School Community Center in Harjo. No
memorials are suggested, Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh, Okla. is in charge
of funeral arrangements.

Mary Ann Nather 1928-2001
TIMKEN - Mary Ann Nather, 73, died Dec. 20 at Rush County Nursing Home in La
Crosse. She was born July 25, 1928, in La Crosse, the daughter or Charles
and Elizabeth Oborny. She married
Edward Nather Aug. 27, 1947, at Holy
Trinity Catholic Church in Timken. He died Dec. 16, 1979. A lifelong
resident of Rush County, she was a homemaker and worked at Rush County
Nursing Home before she retired.
Mrs. Nather was a member of the church and St. Ann's Altar Society, both of
Timken.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Nather Jr. of Hutchinson and Paul Nather
of Timken; two daughters, Annie Pechanec of Hays and Linda Hampton of
Larned; three brothers, Charles Oborny of La Crosse, Leonard Oborny of Rush
Center and Larry Oborny of Hazard, Neb.; one sister, Betty Skillet of Hays;
10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
two brothers, John Oborny and Louis Oborny; and one sister, Agnes Pechanec.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse.
