Gary N. Mead 1940-2001
HUTCHINSON - Gary N. Mead, 60, died Sept. 7 at Hutchinson Hospital. He was
born Sept. 9, 1940, in Cedar Vale, the son of Elmer O. and Aldine L. Randel
Mead. He was a graduate of Pawnee Rock High School. He married
Deanna Minor
June 26, 1964, in Miami, Okla. A resident of Hutchinson since 1985, coming
from Austin, Colo., he was self-employed, owning various businesses.
Mead was a member of Pawnee Rock Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Shane Mead of Topeka; one
daughter, Misti Kroeker of Inman; his mother of Great Bend; two brothers,
Bob Mead of Pawnee Rock and Bill Mead of Herndon, Va.; and two
grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson and Sons Memorial
Chapel in Hutchinson with the Rev. Bob Dalke officiating. Cremation has
taken place. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends prior to the service. Memorials are
suggested to the Cancer Council of Reno County or American Heart

Faith Alexandria Chambers 2001-2001
Faith Alexandria Chambers, infant, ofGreat Bend, died Sept. 7 at Central
Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. She was born Sept. 7
, the daughter of Dustin B. and Stephanie L. Cheney Chambers.
Survivors include her parents of the home; two half-brothers, Trenton Brown
and Noah Brown, both of the home; one stepbrother, Lane Chambers of Ottawa;
two stepsisters, Chelsea Chambers and Riley Chambers of Ottawa;
grandparents, Phyllis Mann of Ottawa, Robert and Janie Cheney of Great Bend
and stepgrandfather, Charles Mann of Phoenix, Ariz.; great-grandparents,
Charlotte Chambers of Baldwin, Norman Chambers of Woodward, Okla., Fern
Master of Garnett, Lucy Alice Cheney of Houston, Texas, and Leon and Lois
Spence of Chanute.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday atGreat Bend Cemetery. There
will be no visitation. Bryant-Christians Funeral Home of Great Bend is in
charge of funeral arrangements.

Karen R. M. Atsaides
CATONSVILLE, Md. - Karen R. M. Atsaides, died Sept. 5.
Survivors include two daughters, Amy L. Atsaides and Stacey M. Atsaides,
both of Catonsville; her parents, Robert and Alice McDonald of Great Bend;
and one sister, Linda VanderVelde of Emporia.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Catonsville Presbyterian
Church in Catonsville. There is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to
the Maryland affiliate of the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in
care of Cremation Society of Maryland in Baltimore, Md.

Fredrica Leach 1919-2001
ARLINGTON - Fredrica Leach, 82, died Sept. 4 at Hospice Residential Care
Center in Hutchinson. She was born March 14, 1919, in Tonkawa, Okla., the
daughter of Fred and Alma Busby Hutto. She married
Robert L. Leach Nov. 5,
1941, in Winfield. He died March 8, 1993. A resident of Arlington for 28
years, coming from Alburquerque, N.M., she was a retired training
supervisor for Mountain Bell Telephone Company.
Mrs. Leach was a member of Rainbow Girls, serving as Grand Worthy Advisor
for the state of Kansas and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, John Leach of Tahsis, British Columbia and
Robert Leach of Arlington; one brother, William "Bill" Hutto of Belle
Vista, Ark.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Stafford cemetery in
Stafford, with the Rev. Kasey Crosby officiating. There is no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Reno County, in care of Minnis Chapel
in Stafford.

Clarence Herman Paden 1908-2001
HARRISON, Ark. - Clarence Herman Paden, 93, died Sept. 4 in Harrison. He
was born July 1, 1908, in Olvey, Ark., the son of W.W. and Hattie Estes
Paden. He was a 1929 graduate of College of the Ozarks Academy in
Clarksville, Ark. He married
Walsie Bryan Cook, March 7, 1932, in
Harrison. She died Nov. 9, 1994. A resident of Boone County for 50 years,
coming from Siloam Springs, Ark. he worked with the U.S. Engineers, Soil
Conservation Service, sang in his college's quartet, Ozarks Stamps Quartet
and was The Singing Troubadour for KUOA, Family Quartet and other various
groups. He was commercial manager of KUOA in Siloam Springs, worked with
funeral homes in Siloam Springs and was a licensed funeral director. He
worked for Pet Milk Company, Allen's Canning Company, school bus driver,
owner/operator of Paden's Flower and Gift Shop and Paden's Sales and
Service, all in Siloam Springs. He served the city of Siloam Springs as
civil defense director, fireman, fire chief and police night watchman. He
served as minister of Christian Church's in Westville, Okla., Gentry, Ark.,
Siloam Springs, Fayetteville, Ark., Olvey, Ark., Olvey Bible Church and was
a supply preacher for other churchs. He was retired from the State of
Arkansas Revenue Department in 1982.
Survivors include one son, Donnie E. Paden of Great Bend; one daughter,
Doris Pennigton of Harrison, Ark.; six grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Harrison,
with the Revs. Dr. Jim Robinson, Tommy Turner and Ron Hutchcraft
officiating. Burial will be at Grubb Springs cemetery in Harrison. Friends
may call from 6-8 tonight at Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison. Memorials
are suggested to Hospice of the Hills, Claude Parrish Radiation Therapy
Institute or the church of choice, all in care of the funeral home.

Naomi Clark Schmiedeskamp Seagle 1914-2001
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Naomi Clark Schmiedeskamp Seagle, 87, died June 7
in North Little Rock. She was born May 10, 1914, in Enterprise, Iowa, the
daughter of Edgar Oral and Crissa Belle Southern Clark. She married
Walter
D. Seagle. He preceded her in death. A resident of North Little Rock, she
was a homemaker and retired bank teller.
Mrs. Seagle was a member of Spring River Presbyterian Church, Honey Bees
Quartet, and Cherokee Village Community Chorus. She was the 1929 Kansas
State Debate Champion and freshman queen at Phillips University.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Lynn Reed of North Little Rock and
Elizabeth Eloise Foster of Littleton, Colo.; one step daughter, Jean Seagle
of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Gwendolyn Cline of Blackwell, Okla.; and
three grandsons.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 15 at Hoisington cemetery in
Hoisington. There is no visitation and no memorials are suggested.

Madelyn Wittig 1916-2001
WICHITA - Madelyn Wittig, 85, died Sept. 5 at Sandpiper Bay Health and
Retirement Center in Wichita. She was born June 5, 1916, in La Crosse, the
daughter of Earl Franklin and Ecil Ruth Miller Harmon. She married
Samuel
Wittig April 12, 1936, in Great Bend. He died May 3, 1979. A resident of
Wichita for two years, coming from Great Bend, Hoisington, Susank,
Alexander and La Crosse, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Wittig was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Hoisington.
Survivors include one son, Edward Eugene Wittig, Sr. of Honolulu, Hawaii;
two daughters, Irma Jean Van Scyoc of Wichita and Evelyn Marie Wittig of
Honolulu, Hawaii; two brothers, Wayne Harmon of Canon City, Colo. and Dan
Harmon of Wichita; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by one son, Franklin James Wittig; one stillborn
daughter; two brothers, LeRoy Harmon and Harley Harmon; and one sister,
Irene Jones.
Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in
Hoisington.Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with
the Rev. Garry Dassow officiating. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran
Cemetery in rural Susank. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and
from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday, all at the funeral home. Memorials

Nicholas M. 'Nick' Weber 1911-2001
Nicholas M. "Nick" Weber, 89, died Sept. 3 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born Dec. 10, 1911, in
Dubuque, the son of Nicholas John and Mary Anna Dolechek Weber. He married
Viola Dorothy Lang Oct. 22, 1946, in Beaver. A resident of Great Bend for
14 years, coming from Dubuque, he was a farmer, stockman and oil producer.
Weber was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Dubuque, St. Rose of
Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend, Knights of Columbus in Odin, Veterans
of Foriegn Wars in Hoisington and lifetime member of Topeka American Legion
Post 58. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific
Theater of operations.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Nicholas NR Weber and Roy
J. Weber, both of Dubuque; two daughters, Karen K. Weber of Great Bend and
Shirley Zink of Newton; two sisters, Francis Bieberle of Great Bend and
Matilda Schartz of Kansas City, Mo.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by three sisters, Edna Weber, Anna Weber and Mary Schartz.
Family Rosary will be at 7 tonight at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in
Great Bend. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home,
followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Friday at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Dubuque, with the Rev. Angel Dy
officiating. Burial will be at St. Catherine cemetery in Debuque. Friends
may call until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thusday all at the
funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Catherine of Dubuque Heritage
Association, Dubuque Catholic cemetery Trust of Sunflower Diversified
Services, all in care of the funeral home.

Nicholas Gray Joslin 2001-2001
WICHITA - Nicholas Gray Joslin, infant, died Sept. 2. He was born to Dr.
Charlie and Denise Joslin.
Survivors include his parents of the home; one brother, Peter Joslin of the
home; his grandparents, Gene and Mary Bess Joslin of Parsons and Tony and
Rosalie Urban of Seward; and his great-grandmother, Josephine Urban of
Hoisington.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church

Scott Lee Mason 1949-2001
PRATT - Scott Lee Mason, 52, died Sept. 2 at his home in Pratt. He was born
March 18, 1949, the son of Herb L. and Frances E. Walls Mason. He was a
graduate of Pratt High School. He married
Susan Hoener Sept. 4, 1976, in
Pratt. A resident of Pratt, he was an oilfield worker.
Mason was a member of Pratt Presbyterian Church, Albert Pike Masonic Lodge
303 and Consistory and Midian Shrine, all of Wichita.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Dee Dee Lunt of
Austin, Texas, Denae Sullins of Dumas, Texas, and Shannon Mason of the
home; his father of Bryan, Texas; one brother, Terry Mason of Houston,
Texas; one sister, Karen Walters of Bellville, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Revs.
Thomas D. Sutter and Donald Mutton officiating. Friends may call until 5
tonight and from 9 a.m. till noon Wednesday, all at Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary
in Pratt. Memorials are suggested to Shriner's Plane of Mercy or donor's

Amelia Henry 1907-2001
HOISINGTON - Amelia Henry, 93, died Sept. 2 at Hillsboro Community Medical
Center in Hillsboro. She was born Sept. 10, 1907, in the Buckeye community
of Ellsworth County, the daughter of Wesley and Maude Black Huggins. She
married Lawrence H. Henry Aug. 7, 1930, in Salina. He died Aug. 2, 2001. A
resident of Hoisington, coming from Ellsworth, she was a country school
teacher at Langley School, homemaker and nurses aide at Ellsworth Good Sam.
Mrs. Henry was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian
Women's Group, both of Ellsworth.
Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Lindsay of Hoisington; one sister,
Avis Reed of Geneseo; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and
three stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Eugene
Earl Henry; two brothers; and one sister.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth,
with the Rev. Don Ray officiating. Burial will be at Buckeye cemetery in
rural Kanopolis. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 8 a.m. until
service time Wednesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to
