LARNED - Fern H. Carr, 85, died Oct. 27 at Willow Wind in Prescott, Ariz. She was born Jan. 4, 1916, in Seward, the daughter of C. Emil and Julia Conner Dralle. She married
Earl W. Carr Jr. Oct. 15, 1932, in Larned. He died Jan. 29, 1976. A resident of Prescott, coming from Larned, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Carr was a member of First Christian Church and Faith Circle, both of Larned. Survivors include one son, Rex Carr of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Jeanette Moore of Prescott, Ariz.; two sisters, Pauline Omlar of Great Bend and Elva Wiles of Hutchinson; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Dralle and Virginia Smith; and one granddaughter, Melanie Carr. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Larned Cemetery, with the Rev. Bessie Boyle 1913-2001
DODGE CITY - Bessie Boyle, 88, died Nov. 6 at Halsey Hall in Dodge City. She was born July 26, 1913, in Dodge City, the daughter of Fred L. and Anna M. Fisher Cummins. She married
Don Boyle June 18, 1950, in Dodge City. A resident of Dodge City, coming from San Diego, Calif., she was a homemaker. Mrs. Boyle was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Dodge City. Survivors include her husband of the home; one daughter, Janice Tunnell of Roswell, N.M.; one sister, Margie Watkins of Great Bend; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Funeral was Friday at the church, with the Rev. David Clipson officiating. Royce L. Kaiser 1928-2001
CLAFLIN - Royce L. Kaiser, 73, died Nov. 10 at his residence in Claflin. He was born April 15, 1928, in rural Ellinwood, the son of Walter A. and Anna M. Heinz Kaiser. He married
Pauline M. Adams June 2, 1948, in Plainville. A lifelong resident of Claflin, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for DS&W Well Service for 17 years, was a former foreman at Marlette Homes in Great Bend, and was owner/operator of Kaiser Trash Service of Claflin for the past 29 years. He also worked for Logan Township. Kaiser was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Claflin and Knights of Columbus in Odin. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Curtis Kaiser of Claflin; six daughters, Coletta Gisick Debes and Cindy Wheeler, both of Claflin, Connie Hatten of Ellinwood, Christine Morrison of Arkansas City, Clara Oborny of Rush Center and Camille Straub of Salina; three brothers, Melvin Kaiser and Jerry Kaiser, both of Great Bend, and Jack Kaiser of Preston; two sisters, Carmen Kaiser of Ellsworth and Mary Lou Kaiser Erhlich of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 27 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jerrica Ann Straub and Jayden Craig Straub. Vigil service followed by Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 5:30 tonight at the church. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. David Flagor officiating. Burial will be at Claflin cemetery in Claflin, with military graveside rites by Ralph B. Praeger Post 8668. RUSSELL - Harry E. "Bud" Hudnall Jr., 73, died Nov. 10 at his home in Russell. He was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Fairport, the son of Harry Elmer and Laura Miller Hudnall. He was a 1946 graduate of Paradise High School. He married

Dolores Krause Bisterfeld Oct. 24, 1980, in Russell. She died March 15, 1997. A resident of Russell, coming from California, he served for 20 years in the U.S. Navy before retiring in 1967. Hudnall was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post, both in Russell. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Survivors include two sons, Gary Hudnall of California and John Hudnall of San Leandro, Calif.; two daughters, Lola Hudnall of Hayward, Calif., and Gina Abercrombie of Livermore, Calif.; one brother, Harold Hudnall of Great Bend; three sisters, Dorothy Wilson of Lincoln, Neb., Karen Jakub of Derby and Connie Steinle of Denver, Colo.; and three grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pohlman's Mortuary Memorial Chapel in Russell, with the Rev. Henry Hartman officiating. Burial will be at Fairport cemetery in Fairport. Orvin Lloyd Estes, April 14, 1947. He died Jan. 14, 2000. A resident of Stafford, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Estes was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City. Survivors include one son, Donald Sligar of Garden City; one stepson, Lloyd Estes of St. John; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Minnis Chapel in St. John with the Rev. Randy Caddel officiating. OLATHE, Colo. - Ivan L. Burton, 74, died Nov. 8 at his home in Olathe. He was born July 29, 1927, in Hoisington, the son of Walter G. And Myrtle Bradshaw Burton. He married
Shirley Jean Riggs, July 11, 1950, in Clayton N.M. A resident of Olathe since 1964, he was a carpenter. Burton was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Wars. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Randy Burton of Olathe; three daughters, Iva Jacobs of Clifton, Colo., Dixie Maupin of New Castle, Colo., and Pamela Nickerson of Gilbert, Ariz.; one twin brother, Irvin Burton of Great Bend; one sister, Lois Wright of Topeka; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Olathe Cemetery, with Ted Cole officiating and military graveside rites will be performed by VFW. Edward Carl Schmidt 1916-2001
CHASE - Edward Carl Schmidt, 85, died Nov. 7 at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson. He was born June 12, 1916, in Garfield, the son of Frederick and Lena Brenn Schmidt. He married
Shirley Evelyn Sutton July 6, 1938, in Great Bend. A longtime resident of Chase, he worked as an independent oil pumper, retiring in 1998. Schmidt was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder and trustee, Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star, all of Chase. He was a retired volunteer fireman of the Chase Fire Department and was grand marshall of Chase Day Parade in 2000. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Curtis Schmidt of Great Bend and Douglas Schmidt of Holcomb; four daughters, Martha Kassin of Branson, Mo., Margaret Snyder of Watertown, S.D., Debby Steffan and Denice Sledd, both of Chase; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Alvin Schmidt, Fredrick Schmidt, Russell Schmidt and Elmer Schmidt. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, with the Revs. Arlene Patrick and Jesse Patrick officiating. Burial will be at Lakin-Comanche District cemetery in Ellinwood. Adams of Windsor, Calif.; five stepsons, Sean Thornley of Santa Rosa, Calif., Tyson Jacobs and Aaron Jacobs, both of Great Bend, Kenneth Davis of Andale and Daniel Davis of Ames, Iowa; his mother of Hoisington; two brothers, Larry Adams of Belpre and Jim Adams of Hoisington; and four grandchildren. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home Chapel in Great Bend, with the Rev. Gerald Martin officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington cemetery in Hoisington. Clayton C. Steiner, 76, of Great Bend, died Nov. 7 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born June 20, 1925, in Ellsworth, the son of Joseph E. and Doris Bisterfeldt Steiner. He married
Barbara J. Foote June 1, 1948, in Ellsworth. A resident of Great Bend since 1953, coming from Ellsworth, he was a retired engineer, having worked at the Arthur Mullergren Plant. Steiner was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Great Bend. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Jim Steiner of Great Bend and Dan Steiner of Stilwell; two daughters, Susan Steiner of Great Bend and Laurie Cooke of Junction City; one brother, Everitt Steiner of Hendersonville, N.C.; one sister, Joyce Brown of Citrus Heights, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Delorn Steiner and Franklin Steiner; and one sister, Ethel Zahradnik. Marion Louise Trickey, 77, of Great Bend, died Nov. 7 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. She was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Minden, Neb., the daughter of Eugene Raymond and Vera Maude Brown Lesher. She was a college graduate. A resident of Great Bend since 1992, coming from Denver, Colo., she worked as an opinion poll surveyor. She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Denver and Crossroads Foursquare Gospel Church in Hoisington. Survivors include one son, Rev. Daniel R. Trickey of Great Bend; one sister, Laurel Hagen of Hot Springs, S.D.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sons, Marcus R. Trickey and Glenn E. Trickey. Anna Eulala Ockerby July 1, 1937, in Claflin. She died Feb. 13, 2000. A resident of Arkansas City after he retired, coming from Wichita and Great Bend, he worked for Walnut Creek Milling Company and Home Appliance Store, both in Great Bend and the Coleman Company in Wichita. Burris was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Great Bend and American Legion. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include one brother, Glenn Burris of Arkansas City; one sister, Doris Amrein of Great Bend; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one stepson, Alvin Daniels. Memorial service will be in Great Bend at a later date. There is no visitation, cremation has taken place. There are no memorials suggested.
