LARNED - Glen Dale Gilmore, 85, died June 29 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph Long Term Care at Larned. He was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Ford County, the son of Samuel and Clara Tullis Gilmore. He married
Nadine Deets Nov. 25, 1979, at Larned. She died March 29, 1985. He married
Etta Wilson Ward on April 4, 1986, at Larned. A longtime resident of Larned, he was a farmer. Gilmore was a member of the Christian faith, and belonged to Fort Larned Lions Club and Welcome Inn Seniors, both of Larned, and Good Sams Camping Club. Survivors include his wife of the home; three stepsons, Dwayne Ward of Boise, Idaho, Wesley Ward of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Don Deets of Hays; seven stepdaughters, Marietta Miller and Carol Cheetsos, both of Gothenburg, Neb., Donna Sever of Modesto, Calif., Mona Johnson of Wichita, Diana Echard of Oklahoma City, Okla., Janet Deets of Dodge City and Bonnie Bird of Garfield. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dee Gilmore; and three sisters, Verna Jones, Ruth Barnes and Lucy Gilmore. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned with the Rev. Royce Jones officiating. Burial will be at Farmington cemetery in Macksville. Dearold 'Deen' Bigelow 1929-2001
CHANUTE - Dearold "Dean" Bigelow, 72, died June 28 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was born April 15, 1929, at Mildred, the son of Jess and Olive M. Cubbison Bigelow. He graduated from Moran High School. He married
Linda Ivins Oct. 6, 1990, at Iola. He was a businessman and retired as a fire and casualty claims adjustor from State Farm Insurance after 20 years. Bigelow was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Larry D. Bigelow of Chase and Curtis A. Beckwith of Tulsa, Okla.; four daughters, Debbie S. Cowhig of Tulsa, Theresa G. Bigelow of Wichita, Debbie B. Burchett of Paola and Sherry R. Liesemeyer of Sedalia, Mo.; one brother, Lawrence R. Bigelow of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five sisters, Melva Lincicome of El Dorado, June Green of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Wanda Sell of Frontenac, Karen Fritchey and Bonnie Weast, both of Joplin, Mo.; and 12 grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Chanute with the Rev. Richard Qualls officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park cemetery in Chanute. Karl 'Ed' Wuller Sr. 1947-2001
Karl "Ed" Wuller Sr., 53, of Great Bend, died Aug. 28 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born Oct. 5, 1947, in Wichita, the son of Warren Exon Sr. and Madge Bernice Evans Wuller. He married
Rose Clothier Oct. 7, 1977, in Great Bend. He was a resident of Great Bend for 23 years.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Karl E. Wuller Jr. of Hoisington; his mother of Augusta; one brother; two sisters; and one granddaughter.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Fryberger Mortuary Chapel in Great Bend, with the Rev. Don Paden officiating. There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Karl Wuller Sr. memorial fund, in care of the mortuary.

Ida May Slaymaker 1902-2001
Ida May Slaymaker, 99, of Great Bend, died Oct. 29 at Integrated Health Services of Great Bend. She was born Jan. 14, 1902, in Admire, the daughter of Jay and Nellie Bair Jarvis. She married
Lawrence A. Slaymaker Sept. 23, 1922, in Admire. He died March 27, 1977. A resident of Great Bend since January 2000, coming from El Dorado, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Slaymaker was a member of First Christian Church in Potwin. Survivors include two sons, L.J. Slaymaker of Grove, Okla. and Marvin Slaymaker of Pampa, Texas; two daughters, Helen L. Morgan of Great Bend and Joyce Austin of Afton, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray Jarvis, Curtis Jarvis and Clive Jarvis. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Rick McNary officiating. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Prairie Lawn cemetery in Peabody. GARNETT - Alma K. Throckmorton, 96, died Oct. 30 at Anderson County Long Term Care in Garnett. She was born Dec. 14, 1904, in Amiot, the daughter of John and Minnie Gilliland Riser. She married
Warren Throckmorton Nov. 26, 1942. He died June 28, 1985. A resident of Garnett, coming from Hoisington, she was an elementary school teacher. Mrs. Throckmorton was a member of United Methodist Church and International Chapter P.E.O. Sisterhood, both of Garnett, UNA Chapter 119 and Eastern Star, both of Hoisington, Alpha Gamma Kansas Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and past member of National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees, Incorporated, Unit 142. Survivors include several cousins. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Garnett, with the Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. NORMAN, Okla. - Lester Maxwell Berry, 81, died Oct. 27 at Stillwater Medical Center in Payne County, Okla. He was born Oct. 30, 1919, in Bunker Hill, the son of James Walter and Ethel Goldie Meharg Berry. He attended Shannon Grade School and Bunker Hill High School. He married
Neva Bridenstine Jan. 8, 1943, at Friends Chapel. A resident of Norman, coming from Bella Vista, Ark., and Russell County, he was a farmer, business man, and reserve deputy sheriff in Russell County and reserve police officer for the city of Hoisington. Berry was a member of Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Good Sams Club, GCGšers of Goodrich UMC, all in Norman, Veterans of Foreign Wars 6240 in Russell and 3rd Armored Division Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a tank commander in the 3rd Armored Division. Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Stuart Berry of Talala, Okla., David Berry of Tyler, Texas, and Dr. Galen Berry of River Falls, Wis.; two daughters, Maryl Berry of River Falls and Cindy Pennington of Norman; one sister, Julia Alexander of Surprise, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. LA CROSSE - Eva Felton Engel, 95, died Oct. 28 at Rush County Nursing Home in La Crosse. She was born May 10, 1906, in Great Bend, the daughter of Albert and Maude Hurt Korn. She married
Samuel Felton Oct. 20, 1923, in Great Bend. He died in 1943. A resident of La Crosse, she worked as a nursešs aid before retirement. Mrs. Engel was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Salina. Survivors include one son, Jim Felton of Loveland, Colo.; one daughter, Alyce Allen of Bison; one sister, Hazel Lindenmeyer of Salina; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Randall Korn; and three sisters, Virgie Hargrave, Margaret Wooster and Velma Waite. RUSSELL - Kellis Counts, 92, died Oct. 29 at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell. He was born March 24, 1909, in Peru, the son of Fred M. and Sophia Ellen Peeler Counts. He married
Sylvia Josephine Weese Sept. 17, 1929, in Russell. She died June 14, 1986. A resident of Russell, coming from Fairport and southeast Kansas, he worked as an oil field pumper for T.C. Johnson Estate for 60 years, as well as owning and operating Fairport Well Service for a few years. Counts was a member of First Christian Church in Russell. Survivors include one son, Marion Counts of Russell; one daughter, Vinita Finnesy of Goodland; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Merle Counts and Kellis Counts Jr.; two brothers, Elba Counts and Frank Counts; five sisters, Lottie Mills, Loretta Newman, Lucille Warner, Vida Schmidt and Rosie Brady; and one granddaughter, Stephanie Seirer. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pohlman's Mortuary Memorial Chapel in Russell with the Revs. Louie Encinias and Harlan Kaden officiating. Burial will be at Russell cemetery in Russell. William N. "Bill" Debes June 1, 1938, in Great Bend. He died Feb. 21, 1986. A lifelong resident of Stafford County, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Debes was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111 Auxiliary, all of Great Bend, and longtime member of Lincoln EHU in Stafford County. Survivors include two sons, William E. Debes of Hutchinson and Herman L. Debes of Great Bend; one daughter, Caroline F. Moeder of Rose Hill; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Loren Thomas Debes; and one sister, Irene Sparkman. Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m. Thursday and Scriptural Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, both at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend.. A resident of Stafford, coming from Brownsville, Texas, he worked as a terminal manager of oil transportation for Champlain and Citgo companies. Roush was a member of Stafford County Country Club, where he was on the board of directors for the golf course, American Legion of Stafford and Moose Lodge of Hutchinson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include one son, Mike Roush of Stafford; one daughter, Sandi Koster of St. John; one brother, Frank Roush of Stafford; two sisters, Lois Guthrie of Midland, Texas, and Lucille Keller of Arlington; and one grandson.
