WILSON -- Vera L. Nuss, 88, died March 26 at Wilson Nursing Center. She was born Dec. 8, 1912, in Ellsworth County, the daughter of Frank H. and Mary J. Horejsi Kraft. She married Ezra Nuss, Sept. 1, 1931, in Ellsworth. He died July 24, 1982. A resident of Wilson, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Nuss was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Wilson and Sunrise EHU of Ellsworth County. Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Purma of Scott City and Donna Greeling of Wilson; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Foster Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev Tim Harlan officiating. Burial will be at Wilson City Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the mortuary. March 28, 2001

Barbara J. Lemmons 1948-2001
WICHITA -- Barbara J. Lemmons, 63, died March 25 in Wichita. She married Max W. Lemmons. A resident of Wichita, she was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Jay Whittle of Great Bend; one brother, James Bean of Seattle, Wash.; four sisters, Wanda Ecker of Buckley, Ill., Shirley Theobold and Mary Zuckermann, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Kathryn Stumbo of Tulsa, Okla.; two stepsons, Patrick Lemmons of Haysville and Rusty Lloyd of San Antonio, Texas; one stepdaughter, Delores Teinert of Wichita; two grandchildren; and eight stepgrandchildren. Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today. Memorials are suggested to Wichita Children's Home, in care of Old Mission Mortuary in Wichita. March 28, 2001

Naomi Carol Sutton 1931-2001
NESS CITY -- Naomi Carol Sutton, 69, died March 25 at the Ness County Hospital. She was born Dec. 24, 1931, in Ness City, the daughter of Lemuel B. and Pearle Kanaga Burditt. She married Robert L. Sutton Feb. 7, 1954, at Ness City. A resident of Ness City, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Sutton was a member of First Baptist Church and American Baptist Women, both of Ness City. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Bryan Sutton of Ness City; one daughter, Norma Ann Coplin of Crestwood, Mo.; two brothers, Earl Burditt of Ness City and Dwayne Burditt of Grangeville, Idaho; two sisters, Vera Pember of Springfield, Mo., and Valdah Klitzke of Ness City; and six grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the church with the Rev. Russell King officiating. Memorials are suggested to Ness County Hospital in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City. Mary E. Burns 1923-2001
JETMORE -- Mary E. Burns, 77, died March 27 at the Good Samaritan Center in Lyons. She was born April 24, 1923, in Goodwill, Okla., the daughter of George and Myrtle Henderson VanVleet. She married Lawrence Burns June 12, 1943, in Jetmore. He died on May 5, 1991. A resident of Jetmore, she was a farmer. Mrs. Burns was a member of United Methodist Church and T.O.P.S., both of Jetmore. Survivors include one son, Harry Burns of Jetmore; two daughters, Mary Keiley of Jetmore and Betty Romero of Lyons; one brother, George VanVleet of Jetmore; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Nathan Burns; two brothers, William VanVleet and Nathan VanVleet; two sisters, Lena Yost and Rosa Larkin; one grandson, Sonny Burns; and one great-grandson, Spencer Bergmann. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Mitch Reece officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount cemetery in Jetmore. Friends may call until 8 tonight, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9-11 a.m. Friday, all at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore. Memorials are suggested to the Mary E. Burns Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home. March 28, 2001

Merle Hattie Hardwick 1900-2001
LA CROSSE - Merle Hattie Hardwick, 101, died March 24 at Rush County Nursing Home in La Crosse. She was born Feb. 12, 1900, the daughter of Lonson and Hattie Perkins Helvie. She married Francis M. Hardwick June 3, 1925, in Leoti. He died June 20, 1968. A resident of Rush County, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Hardwick was a member of First Christian Church, Home Demonstration Unit and U & I Sunday School Class, all of La Crosse. Survivors include one son, Richard Hardwick of La Crosse; two daughters, Jo Ann Neidenthal of Oberlin and Jean Oelkers of McCracken; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Bill Hardwick; four brothers, Bryan Helvie, Lynn Helvie, Carol Helvie and Beach Helvie; two sisters, Ina Denney and Josephine Jarnigan; and one grandson, Daylin Frank Neidenthal. Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church in La Crosse with the Rev. Troy Schroeder officiating. Burial will be at La Crosse City Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse. Family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Rush County Nursing Home, in care of the funeral home. March 27, 2001

Dolores F. Craghead 1929-2001
JETMORE - Dolores F. Craghead, 71, died March 25 at Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center in Jetmore. She was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Jetmore, the daughter of Raleigh and Nola Burdue Scothorn. She married Maurice B. Craghead Dec. 15, 1945, in Jetmore. A resident of Jetmore, coming from California, she was a homemaker and co-owner of Jetmore Motel. Mrs. Craghead was a member of United Methodist Church and was a Brownie Girl Scout leader, both Jetmore. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Jesse L. Craghead of Jetmore; two daughters, Maureen Hammond of Copeland and Linda F. Terry of Fresno, Calif.; three brothers, Lloyd Scothorn of Tawas City, Mich., Leon Scothorn of Pampa, Texas, and Dallas Scothorn of Burlington; three sisters, Sharon Rudzik, Shirley Pfaff and Janice Scothorn, all of Jetmore; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis L. Craghead. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at United Presbyterian Church in Jetmore with the Revs. Jo Clipson and Mitch Reece officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount cemetery in Jetmore. Friends may call until 8 tonight and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore. H.E. 'Hank' Zoller, Jr. 1928-2001
DENVER, Colo. - H.E. "Hank" Zoller Jr., 72, died March 12 in Long Beach, Calif. He was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Ponca City, Okla., the son of Henry E. and Paula DeBois Zoller. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas. A resident of Denver since 1954, coming from Wichita, he was active in the oil and gas industry as a partner in Zoller-Danneberg Inc. and Zoller Resources. Zoller was a leader in the Men's Fellowship Group at Cherry Hills Country Club and active in "Friends in Transition Prison Ministry" program. He was a supporter of "Whiz Kid" tutoring program. Survivors include three sons, Henry E. Zoller IV of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Jeffrey R. Zoller of Hoisington and Todd A. Zoller of Englewood, Colo.; two daughters, Michelle Nocera of Long Beach, Calif., and Monique Zoller of Great Bend; one brother, Dr. David D. Zoller of Blue Springs, Mo.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia McEwen; and one grandson, Christopher Elliot. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. April 12 at Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver, Colo. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Denver Leadership Foundation, 5500 E. Yale Ave., Denver, CO 80222, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. March 28, 2001

Dennis M. Huslig 1947-2001
LAGRANGE PARK, Ill. - Dennis M. Huslig, 53, died Jan. 11 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Ill. He was born March 1, 1947, in Great Bend, the son of Leonard E. and Margaret Sauber Huslig. He married Mary Ann Hubbel July 11, 1970, in Basehor. A 17 year resident of LaGrange, he was director of Lisle Public Library District in Lisle, Ill. Huslig was an active deacon at St. Louise de Mariliac Church in LaGrange, ordained deacon of Archdiocese of Chicago, member of Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club of Lisle, American Library Association, Illinois Library Association and a board member for National Marriage Encounter, all of Illinois. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Mark Huslig of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Dawn Huslig of Arlington, Texas; his mother of Salina; one brother, Eldon Huslig of Lombard, Ill.; and one sister, JoAnn Maddox of Salina. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington with the Rev. Pascal Klein officiating. Inurnment will be at St. John cemetery in Hoisington with a military flag presentation by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7428. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. March 27, 2001

Nattie J. Shaffer 1908-2001
HUTCHINSON - Nattie J. Shaffer, 92, died March 25 at Hester Care in Hutchinson. She was born May 16, 1908, in Sallisaw, Okla., the daughter of John P. and Victoria Myers Cargill. She married Carl D. Shaffer on June 21, 1925, in Drumright, Okla. He died Dec. 10, 1966. A resident of Hutchinson, coming from Medicine Lodge, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Shaffer was a member of First Baptist Church, FBC Circle, Order of Eastern Star and a 50-year member Silver Leaf Chapter 464. Survivors include four daughters, Dorothy Hartman and Exie McPherson, both of Hutchinson, Wanda Sieker of Ellinwood and Shirley Walker of Bedford, Texas; one brother, John Cargill of Great Bend; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew Cargill and Albert Cargill; one sister, Georgia Land; and one granddaughter, Vicki Curtis. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel in Hutchinson with the Rev. Jim Autrey officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park cemetery in Hutchinson. Friends may call until 9 tonight at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the mortuary. March 26, 2001

Leta J. Weld 1925-2001
CLAFLIN - Leta J. Weld, 75, died March 25 at Hoisington Rehabilitation Center. She was born Aug. 19, 1925, in Sublette, the daughter of Olivier and Flossie Parker Barger. She married Vernon I. Weld on Jan. 5, 1955, in Pueblo, Colo. A resident of Claflin, coming from Great Bend, she was the owner of 156 Lounge in Claflin. Survivors include her husband of the home; and one brother, Harold Barger of Canon City, Colo. No services or visitation will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. March 26, 2001

Musetta Curtis 1927-2001
STAFFORD - Musetta Curtis, 73, died March 22 at her home in Stafford. She was born Oct. 20, 1927, in Stafford, the daughter of Merle Ray and Maggie Priscilla Morlan Yingst. She married Jack Tedder Curtis June 1, 1945, in Stafford. He died May 13, 2000. A resident of Stafford, she was a homemaker and co-owner of Curtis Cafe. Mrs. Curtis was a member of First United Methodist Church of Stafford, Sunday School teacher and a member of the American Bell Association. Survivors include three daughters, Cindy Creager of LaCygne, Ruth Wiltshire and Barb New, both of Stafford; one brother, Victor Yingst of Crosby, Texas; one sister, Willa Buehler of McAllen, Texas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Minnis Chapel in Stafford with the Rev. Kasey Crosby officiating. Burial will be at Stafford Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today at the chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Stafford County Historical Society, American Heart Association or KPTS Public Television, all in care of the chapel. March 25, 2001

Matthew James 'Matt' Bond 1988-2001
LAWTON, Okla. - Matthew James OMatt' Bond, 12, died March 22 at Lawton Hospital. He was born Aug. 5, 1988, in Great Bend, the son of Barry and Janie Bond. He attended Central Junior High School in Lawton. He was a resident of Lawton, coming from Kentucky. Bond was a member of Dayspring Community Church of Lawton and was a Cub Scout. He played football, soccer and track while being involved in leadership courses at Taft Academy and being a member of the Rifle Drill Team, all in Lawton. Survivors include his parents of the home; one brother, Jeremiah Bond of the home; grandparents, Dennis E. Bond of Missouri, Shirley Sanders of Colorado, James E. and Betty J. West of Fresno, Calif.; and two great-grandmothers, Lucille Nichols of St. John and Marjorie McVey of Larned. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Frontier Chapel Center at Fort Sill in Lawton, with the Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Burial will at the Post cemetery at Fort Sill. Funeral arrangements were handled Becker Funeral Home in Lawton. March 25, 2001
