JETMORE - Mae Ashley, 92, died Dec. 2 at Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center in Jetmore. She was born Dec. 17, 1907, in Jetmore, the daughter of Lloyd and Ida McGee Scothorn. She married Gerald Ashley Aug. 10, 1929, in Jetmore. He died Jan. 10, 1985. A resident Jetmore since 1997, coming from Cheyenne Wells, Colo., she was a homemaker. Mrs. Ashley was a member of E.H.U. in Cheyenne Wells. Survivors include five sons, Arlyn Dwane Ashley of Cheyenne Wells, Glenn Dale Ashley of Dodge City, Gailard Milton Ashley of Webster, N.Y., Lavern K. Ashley of Jetmore and Jerald Clinton Ashley of Lamar, Colo.; one sister, Mildred Bean of Great Bend; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raleigh Scothorn and Roy Scothorn; and one great-great-grandson. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore with the Rev. Mitch Reece officiating. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. MST Wednesday at Fairview cemetery in Cheyenne Wells. Friends may call until 8 tonight and until service time Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center, in care of the funeral home. Dec. 4, 2000

Irene Velma Poage 1917-2000

JEFFERSON, Ga. - Irene Velma Poage, 83, died Nov. 30 at Bjc Medical Center in Commerce, Ga. She was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Oilton, Okla., the daughter of James Thomas and Edna Phillips Dotson. She married Marion M. Poage Oct. 27, 1934, in Seminole, Okla. He died Nov. 8, 1989. A resident of Jefferson, coming from Great Bend, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Paoge was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Eagles Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Great Bend. Survivors include one son, Richard Poage of Bangkok, Thailand; one daughter, Marilyn K. Bertrand of Jefferson; two sisters, Florene T. Sausedo of Sheridan, Wy. and Lenora Ring of Shawnee, Okla.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bryant-Christians Chapel in Great Bend with the Rev. David Hartsell officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 tonight, from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday, and the family receiving friends from 7-8:30 tonight, all at the funeral home. Anna Mae Carey 1907-2000

ELLINWOOD - Anna Mae Carey 93, died Dec. 2 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. She was born Aug. 9, 1907, in Reading, the daughter of Francis Martin and Ella Frances Gray Carey. She was a 1929 graduate of Kansas State Teacher's College in Emporia. A resident of Ellinwood since 1943, she was a public school teacher. Mrs. Carey was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Altar Society, Kansas Retired Teachers Association and Barton County Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include two nephews, Leo Francis Carey, Jr. of Minneapolis, Minn. and Patrick William Carey of San Jose, Calif.; and two great-nephews, Ryan James Carey and Joel Francis Carey, both of Minneapolis. Altar Society rosary will be at 3 today at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Parish rosary will be at 5:30 today at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. David Flagor officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Calvary cemetery in Reading. Friends may call until 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or Heritage Senior Center or Ellinwood Public School and Library Foundation, all in care of the funeral home. Dec. 4, 2000

Adrian E. Randolph 1920-2000

MCPHERSON - Adrian E. Randolph, 80, died Dec. 1. a resident of McPherson, he was a handyman and vacuum cleaner salesman. Survivors include two sons, Ray Randolph of Indianapolis, Ind. and Larry Randolph of Prescott, Ariz.; three daughters, Mary Randolph of Denver, Colo., Sharon Randolph of Glasco and Ruth Randolph; one brother, Richard Randolph of Lawrence; two sisters, Margaret Bohannon of Ruydoso, N.M. and Sarah Murrell of Topeka; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Bible Church in McPherson. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of Cochran Mortuary in Wichita. Dec. 4, 2000

Roy R. Helus 1926-2000

HUTCHINSON- Roy R. Helus, 74, died Dec. 2 at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson. He was born February 26, 1926, in Salina, the son of Anton and Flossie Root Helus. He married Marie Galliardt Oct. 16, 1950, in Clovis, N.M. A resident of Hutchinson since 1969, coming from Wilson, he was a equipment supervisor for J.H. Shears and Company. Helus was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wilson. MSGR. John F. McManus American Legion Post 262 and DDR Black Powder Society. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife Marie, of the home; one son, Raymond Helus of Milan; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Louis Helus. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson City cemetery in Wilson with Andy Heer officiating. Friends may call until 8 tonight and until service time Tuesday, both at Foster Mortuary in Wilson. Memorials are suggested to the Hutchinson Boys and Girls Club, in care of the mortuary. Leo W. Anschutz 1917-2000

WILSON - Leo W. Anschutz, 82, died Dec. 2 at his home in Wilson. He was born Dec. 18, 1917, in Dorrance, the son of Ernest and Lena Koetkemeyer Anschutz. He married Gerry Cross Dec. 21, 1947. She died in 1986. He married Jeanne Baker Dec. 12, 1987. A lifetime resident of the Wilson area, he was a farmer and stockman. Anschutz was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wilson, Wilson Lions Club, Russell Elks Club and Msgr. John F. McManusAmerican Legion Post 262. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Warren Anschutz of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one daughter, Priscilla LoPresti of Leavenworth; two step-daughters, Eileen Grauer of Hoisington and Linda Baker of Garden City; one brother, Paul Anschutz of Russell; one sister, Frances Jackman of El Dorado; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son; four brothers, Willis Anschutz, Harold Anschutz, Louie Anschutz and George Anschutz. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. at Wilson City cemetery in Wilson with military honors by Msgr. John F. McManus American Legion Post 263. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. James Wagner officiating. Friends may call until 8 tonight at Foster Mortuary in Wilson. Kay Wesley Moses 1941-2000

Kay Wesley Moses, 59, died Nov. 30 in rural Great Bend. She was born Aug. 10, 1941, in Great Bend, the daughter of Ralph Wesley and Isbell M. Moses . A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was a homemaker, elementary-school teacher and a medical records librarian. She was a member of PEO and a volunteer at the Family Crisis Center, both in Great Bend. Survivors include one son, Kyle Burnett of Lawrence; one brother, Charles "Jack" Wesley Moses of Great Bend; and one sister, Ann Van Winkle of Wichita. She was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Sidebottom. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Diana Coberly officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday at Great Bend Family Mortuary and from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Family Crisis Center, in care of the funeral home. Dec. 3, 2000

Nettie E. Turnby 1906-2000

Nettie E. Turnby, 94, died Dec. 1 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. She was born Aug. 17, 1906, in Gretna, Neb., the daughter of John and Elsie Sponagle Eggers. She married Harvey Turnby March 23, 1943, in Omaha, Neb. He died Sept. 27, 1978. A resident of Great Bend since 1993, coming from Omaha, she was a secretary and bookkeeper for Mastercraft Furniture in Omaha. Mrs. Turnby was a 70-year member of First Lutheran Church and a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Omaha Benson Post 112. She was a member and chapeau of 8 and 40 Douglas County Salon 254 and Nebraska State Chapeau and a long time volunteer at Omaha Veterans Hospital. Survivors include one son, Conrad Olsson of Great Bend; three daughters, Virginia Weiland and Mary Jean Cammarata, both of Littleton, Colo., and Luella Thomas of Englewood, Colo.; one brother, Carl Eggers of Napa, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Emil Eggers, William Eggers, Elvin Eggers, August Eggers and John Eggers; two sisters, Anna Harden and Clara Kluge; one grandson, Dennis Thomas; one great-grandson, Zachary Phillips; and one great-granddaughter, Lisa Thomas. Funeral and burial will be at Omaha. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of Bryant-Christians Funeral Home. Dec. 3, 2000

Carl M. Meitner 1918-2000

OLMITZ - Carl M. Meitner, 82, died Dec. 1. He was born April 11, 1918, in Olmitz, the son of Frank and May Meitner. He married Sue VanValkenberg Jan. 4, 1941, in Wichita. She preceded him in death. Survivors include one son, Gregory Meitner of Wichita; two daughters, Carla Meeds and Nikki Nelson, both of Wichita; two sisters, Frances Healy of Denver, Colo., and Josephine Gerber of Hagerstown, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Meitner. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Olmitz. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Anne Catholic Church Renovation Fund or Catholic Charities, in care of St. Anthony's Shelter. Watson Funeral Home in Wichita is in charge of arrangements. Dec. 3, 2000

Helen Louise Kraisinger 1911-2000

Helen Louise Kraisinger, 89, died Dec. 1 in Great Bend. She was born Nov. 18, 1911, in Saline County, Neb., the daughter of Vaclay C. and Emma Vnoucek Koci. She was a 1928 graduate of Bison High School. She married Robert Stephen Kraisinger March 2, 1933, in Larned. He died June 24, 1967. A resident of Great Bend for 10 years, coming from Timken, she was a cook for Timken Grade School and Larned State Hospital, a reporter for Rush County News, Larned Tiller and Toiler and the Great Bend Tribune, and a nurses aide for Great Bend Manor. Mrs. Kraisinger was a Methodist and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles. Survivors include four sons, Kevin J. Kraisinger of Hays, Robert L. Kraisinger of Timken, James J. Kraisinger of Scottsburg, Ind., and Gary W. Kraisinger of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Sylvia Oliverius of La Crosse; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse with the Rev. Kathy Bannister officiating. Burial will be at La Crosse Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. Monday, both at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Association, in care of the funeral home. Dec. 3, 2000

Eva Lea Routh 1909-2000

Eva Lea Routh, 91, died Dec. 1 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. She was born Jan. 25, 1909, in Port Hudson, La., the daughter of John L. and Mary Arizona Borskey Pickens. She married Benjamin I. Routh June 1936, in Baton Rouge, La. He died March 5, 1985. A resident of Great Bend for 47 years, coming from Calgary, Canada, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Routh was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and was a volunteer at Central Kansas Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include two sons, Benjamin Lee Routh of Idaho Springs, Colo., and Charles L. Routh of Denver, Colo.; one brother, Woodrow Wilson Pickens of Baton Rouge, La.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse Pickens and Joseph Guidry; and one sister, Mary Leona Hurley. Vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Warren Stecklein officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, both at the funeral home. Harold Lee Stout 1910-2000

HOISINGTON - Harold Lee Stout, 90, died Dec. 1 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. He was born June 18, 1910, in Forbes, Mo., the son of Francis Lee and Sarah Smith Stout. He married Myrtle L. Faris Sept. 10, 1931, in Ness City. She died Sept. 23, 1990. A resident of Hoisington, coming from Ness City, he was an engineer with Missouri Pacific Railroad and owned and operated Stout's Service Station in Hoisington. Stout was a member of United Methodist Church in Beeler and a member of United Transportation Union. Survivors include two sons, Dean M. Stout and Lyle E. Stout, both of Hoisington; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, Francis Stout; two brothers, Herb Stout and John Stout; one sister Ethel Whipple; two grandsons, John Stout and Roy Stout; and one great-grandson Zachary Stout. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Hoisington with the Rev. Wayne Flanders officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington Cemetery. Delena Kenyon 1913-2000

BOGUE - Delena Kenyon, 87, died Nov. 30 at Dawson Place Nursing Home in Hill City. She was born April 27, 1913, in rural Graham County, the daughter of Isadore and Lula Conyac. She married Ivan R. Kenyon May 14, 1934, in Damar. He died Sept. 24. A longtime resident of Bogue, she was a homemaker and teacher. Mrs. Kenyon was a member St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Anns Sodality in Damar. She was founding member of Bogue Pinochle Club. Survivors include two sons, Gary Kenyon of Great Bend and Alan Kenyon of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Marilyn Kay Pozas of Glendale, Ariz., and Jolene Alexander of Ottawa; four sisters, Lillie Stiever of Mesa, Ariz., Zelia Brin and Genevieve Belisle, both of Damar, andIda Conyac of Hill City; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Wake will be at 7:30 tonight at the church. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Revs. Don McCarthy and Bill Kilian officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery in Damar. B. Paul Carlile 1913-2000

HOISINGTON - B. Paul Carlile, 87, died Dec. 1 at Hoisington Rehabilitation Center in Hoisington. He was born April 22, 1913, in Prairie Grove, Ark., the son of Hardin and Stella Felton Carlile. He married Dora Belle Jones July 24, 1936, in Great Bend. She died Jan. 4, 1986. A resident of Hoisington for 67 years, coming from Prairie Grove, he was a retired employee of the city of Hoisington. Carlile was a member of American Legion Post 286 and Odd Fellow Lodge, both of Hoisington. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include one son, Jim Carlile of Colwich; two daughters, Jean Gnam of Lenexa and Paula Schwein of Overland Park; one sister, Cora Jones of Spokane, Wash.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill Carlile, Richard Carlile, Dean Carlile, G.E. "Curly" Carlile; and two sisters, Eva Lena Kendall and Ida Layman. Graveside services will be at 2 today at Hoisington cemetery with the Rev. Paula Bell officiating. Military graveside rites will be by Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 7428 and American Legion Post 286. Ralph William Button 1912-2000

Ralph William Button, 88, died Dec. 1 in Great Bend. He was born April 4, 1912, the son of Dr. Edward C. and Edna Lewis Button. He was a 1930 graduate of Great Bend High School and attended University of Kansas. He married Margaret Charlotte Smith Sept. 11, 1936, in Golden, Colo. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a farmer, owner of the driving range and a landman in the oil industry. Button was a Sunday school teacher, trustee, usher, deacon and member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Great Bend. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Edwin Quentin Button of Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Charlotte Ann Button of Franksville, Wis., Jan Iota Button of LaMar, Mo., and Patricia May Button of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Edwina Speers of Conroe, Texas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son and one sister, Ruth Ames. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Diana Coberly officiating. Friends may call until 9 tonight at Fryberger Mortuary in Great Bend. Family will receive friends from 3-5 tonight at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the mortuary. Dec. 3, 2000

Jonathan R. 'Rex' Mayo 1924-2000

HAYS - Jonathan R. "Rex" Mayo, 76, died Dec. 1 at Hays Medical Center. He was born March 25, 1924, in Lemming, Texas, the son of Charles E. and Mary W. Hobrock Mayo. He married Mary W. "Billy" Stoner Aug. 25, 1946, in Plainville. She died Aug. 27, 1993. He married Eulalia Berls May 6, 1995, in Hays. A resident of Hays, coming from Pratt and Plainville, he was a retired drilling superindendent and tool pusher for Red Tiger Drilling Company. Mayo was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 6th Armored Division. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Stephen Mayo of Hays and Philip Mayo of Olathe; one brother, Charles Merrill Mayo of Phillipsburg; one sister, Marjorie Moore of Bourbonnais, Ill.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Leah Pooley, Norine Mayo, Maxine Spaulding and Lois Stevenson. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Brock's North Hill Chapel in Hays with the Rev. Paul Abell officiating. Graveside sevice will be at noon Monday at the Natoma cemetery in Natoma. Friends may call from 3-8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday, at the chapel. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, in care of the chapel. Dec. 3, 2000
