Nathan Reece 1931-2000
Nathan Reece, 69, died Dec. 9 in Hutchinson. He was born June 12, 1931, in Plainville, the son of Ocenus Sr. and Emmaline Reed Reece. He was a graduate of Palinville High School. A longtime resident of Great Bend, he was a landscaper. Reece was of the Christian faith. Survivors include one brother, Richard Reece of Great Bend; and one sister, Martha Ann Reece of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Efie May Johnson, Janette Cherry and infant Jacqueline Reece. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Golden Belt cemetery with the Rev. Loyse Clay officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at Fryberger Chapel in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to the Nathan Reece Memorial Fund, in care of the mortuary. Nathan V. Fuller 1912-2000
RUSSELL - Nathan V. Fuller, 88, died Dec. 9 at Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell. He was born Aug. 6, 1912, in Little River, the son of Fred and May Banister Fuller. He married
Esther Marie Strouse Feb. 14, 1934, in Little River. She died Sept. 2, 1994. A resident of Russell since 1963, coming from Hoisington, he worked for Skelly Oil Company for 42 years. Fuller was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell, Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star in Bunker Hill. Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Claussen of Russell; two sisters, Elaine Walstrom of McPherson and Emagene "Dickie" Sherman of Burrton; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother, Keith Fuller; and one sister, Margaret Popp. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pohlman's Memorial Chapel in Russell with the Rev. HOISINGTON - Mildred I. Lindquist Weeks, 89, died Dec. 8 at Eudora Nursing Home. She was born March 17, 1911, in Wichita, the daughter of Blaine and Maryon Shanks Bowers. She married
Lee O. Lindquist Nov. 18, 1932, in Wichita. He died Nov. 30, 1966. She married
Marion B. Weeks Nov. 26, 1976, in Hoisington. He died Jan. 25, 1995. A resident of Eudora, coming from Susank and Hoisington, she was a retired postmaster in Susank for 37 years and a former city clerk for Susank. Mrs. Lindquist was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and OES Una Chapter 119, both of Hoisington. Survivors include three sons, Jerry L. Lindquist of Sun City West, Ariz., Jack D. Lindquist of Taylors, S.C. and Jay A. Lindquist of Lawrence; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington with the Rev. Garry Dassow officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Natoma City cemetery in Natoma. HAYS - Thelma G. Riedel, 81, died Dec. 8 at Hays Medical Center. She was born Jan. 30, 1919, in Hays, the daughter of Joseph and Theresia Quint Sander. She married
Arthur R. "Art" Riedel June 3, 1941, in Victoria. A resident of Hays, she was a retired waitress and clerk. Mrs. Riedel was a member of St. Jospeh's Church, St. Joseph Altar Society and Christian Mothers, the Daughters of Isabella and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Hays. Survivors include four sons, Ken Riedel of Lakewood, Colo., Art Riedel, Jr. of Larned, Bill Riedel of Aurora, Colo., and Bob Riedel of Bellevue, Neb.; one daughter, Kathy Petr of Wichita; one brother, Robert Sander of Victoria; three sisters, Sister Sarah Sander of Fond du Lac, Wis., Laurine Drazic of Ellsworth and Celeste Schmidtberger of Victoria; and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ed Riedel, Alfred Riedel and Hubert Riedel; and two sisters, Georgine Dreiling and Virginia McCardwell. Altar society and Christian Mothers rosary will be at 4 p.m., a VFW Auxiliary service at 6 p.m., a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., all today at the Brock's North Hill Chapel in Hays. A. Micheal "Mike" Keating Oct. 15, 1954, in Ada. He died Nov. 30, 1995. A resident of Great Bend for 42 years, coming from Barnard, she worked in accounting for Massey Ferguson. Survivors include one son, Kevin Keating of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Rebecca Murray of Shawnee, Okla. and Susan Bieberle of Coldwater; one brother, Neil Maholland of Barnard; and six grandchildren. Doris Irene Martin Nov. 5, 1942, in Rozel. She died Dec. 27, 1988. A resident of Rozel, he was a mechanic. Survivors include one son, Nolan Spreier of Rozel; one daughter of Phyllis Romo of Sacramento, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Frank Langdon. He died in 1992. A resident of Beloit, coming from Versailies, Mo., she was a teacher. Mrs. Langdon was a member of Beloit New Life Christian Center and a volunteer for the a Solomon Valley Hospice, Meals on Wheels and the Mitchell County Hospital Economy Shop. Survivors include one son, R.G. Lamkins of Linclon, Neb.; three brothers, Harold Adams of Mt. Hope, James Adams of Great Bend and Paul Adams of Versailles; three sisters, Ruth Stone of Newton, Margaret Ikerd of Newton and Esther Spangenberg of Hudson; and one grandchild. Fred Gerstner Jan. 6, 1977, at Raton, N.M. He died Nov. 3, 1994. A Barton County resident since 1968, having moved from Kendall, she was a homemaker. Survivors include one son, Robert Willinger of Stockton, Mo.; two daughters, Roberta Stull of Garland Texas and Janet Ramsey of Holyrood; one brother, Jim Dennis of Satanta; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Willinger; and five brothers, Sam Ruble, John Ruble, Herb Ruble, Bill Ruble and Ray Ruble. Orville Biles in 1934 at El Dorado. He died in 1961. She married
Dan Herbel at Larned. He died in 1995. She lived in central and south central Kansas, Palco and Larned before moving to Russell in 1967. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Gary Biles of Hoisington and Rick Biles of Russell; one daughter, Sara Jane Billinger of Hill City; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son John Lee Biles; one brother; and one sister. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Pohlman's Memorial Chapel in Russell with the Rev. Henry Hartman officiating. Solomon "Sam" Maier Sept. 24, 1947, in Lubbock, Texas. She was a resident of Great Bend since 1963, coming from Susank. Mrs. Maier was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a past state president of Business and Professional Women and president of Barton County Youth Care, all of Great Bend. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Bob Maier of Newton; one daughter, Judy Messersmith of Great Bend; one brother, Arthur Leonard Mangum Jr. of Lubbock; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Maurice Edwin Osborne Aug. 20, 1929, in Blue Mound. He died Sept. 22, 1974. A resident of Hanston, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Osborne was a member of United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, organist, Home Maker Extension Homemaker Unit, Cowbells, Silver Haired Legislature representative and Senior Center, all of Hanston. Survivors include one son, Eldon Osborne of Dodge City; two daughters, Pat Housman of Hanston and Marvelle Riggs; three sisters, Hazel Passe of Sun City, Ariz., Marguerite Elyard and Margaret Mayer, both of Ocala, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
