Living Center.

Hannah Mae Peschka 1906-2000
Hannah Mae Peschka, 93, died Nov. 11 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St.
Rose Campus in Great Bend. She was born Nov. 20, 1906, in Wilson, the
daughter of James E. and Hannah Driscoll Zamrzla. She married
Wilbert J.
?Bud? Peschka Oct. 9, 1941, in Wilson. He died July 13, 1983. She was a
graduate of Fort Hays State University with a masters in elementary
education. A resident of Great Bend since 1983, coming form Susank, she was
an elementary school teacher for 42 years, including 30 years in the Susank
area, until her retirement in 1977.
Mrs. Peschka was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society,
Daughters of Isabella, Association of Retired Teachers of Barton County,
AAUW, American Association of Retired Persons and Fort Hays state University
Alumni Association.
Survivors include one brother, Ernest Ike Zamrzla of Oklahoma City, Okla.;
three sisters, Georginna Vopat of Plainsville and Margaret Soukup and Julia
Ann Zamrzla, both of Wilson. She was preceded in death by four brothers,
James Zamrzla, John Zamrzla, George Zamrzla and Joe Zamrzla.
Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Bryant-Christians Funeral
Home in Great Bend. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with
the Rev. Warren Stecklien officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend
Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 tonight and 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday
at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the
funeral home.

Helen M. Cross 1922-2000
PRATT - Helen M. Cross, 78, died Nov. 10 at Pratt Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 15, 1922, at Medicine Lodge, the daughter of John F. and
Grace M. Jones McGovney. She married
Elmer E. Cross Dec. 28, 1941, at
Cunningham. She was a graduate of Emporia State College. A resident of
Pratt since 1951, coming from Cunningham, she was a retired bookkeeper at
Pratt Community College.
Mrs. Cross was a member of First United Methodist Church, Esther Guild,
Pratt Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, Retired Teachers Association,
Business and Professional Women, and was a local American Cancer Society
treasurer and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; five sons, John Cross of Great
Bend, Larry Cross of Denver, Colo., David Cross of Shorncliffe, Queensland,
Australia, and George Cross and Steven Cross, both of Pratt; three
daughters, Carol Freund of Cunningham, Kathleen Pugh of Sylvia and Susan
Parsons of Pratt; one brother, Albert McGovney of Penalosa; 19
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
one brother, Franklin McGovney; one sister, Esther Elliott; and one
grandson, Eric Cross.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Kendall Utt
and the Rev. Mike McGovney officiating. Burial will be at Greenlaw Cemetery
in Pratt. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Monday at Larrison Mortuary in Pratt. Memorials are suggested to the church
or Pratt Regional Medical Center auxiliary, both in care of the mortuary.

Ralph Charles Elliott 1917-2000
TEAGUE, Texas - Ralph Charles Elliott, 83, died Nov. 10 at Temple, Texas. He
was born Oct. 1, 1917, at Dew, Texas. He married
Mary Ann Elliott. He was a
operator for Union Carbide.
Elliott was a member of Odd Fellows of Teague and Veterans of Foreign Wars
of Texas City. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his spouse, of the home; two daughters, Mary E. Rose and
Carol A. Burch, both of Texas City, Texas; three brothers, Mervyn Elliott,
Bill Elliott and Clyde Elliott, all of Teague City; one sister, Gloria
Geppert of Conroe, Texas; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by one son, Ralph Elliott Jr.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Ricks Chapel in Teague with the Rev. Karl
Tewold officiating. Burial will be at Salem cemetery in Teague.

Sister Angela Leiker 1915-2000
Sister Angela Leiker, 85, died Nov. 10 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St.
Rose Campus in Great Bend. She was born March 10, 1915, in Walker as Lucy
Mathilda Leiker, the daughter of Peter and Angela Befort Leiker. She entered
the Dominican Sisters? Community May 24, 1930, and pronounced her first vows
Aug. 17, 1933. She celebrated 55 years of religious profession in 1998.
Sister Angela ministered in domestic work on Dominican Sisters? mission; in
1983, she became the receptionist in the surgery waiting room at CKMC. She
also cared for the aged in homes and in the convent infirmary and was a
teacher?s aide in Schulte.
Survivors include one brother, Henry Leiker of Salina; six sisters, Leona
Zerr of Hays, Alma Stevenson of Montrose, Colo., Mary Thiel of Hotchkiss,
Colo., Wilda Brack of Wellington, Colo., Alice Espinosa of Lafayette, Colo.,
and Lynn Henry of Fort Morgan, Colo.
Wake service will be held at 7:30 tonight in the Dominican Chapel of the
Plains in Great Bend. Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the convent
with the Rev. Frank Jordan officiating. Burial will be in the Sisters?
Calvary cemetery in Great Bend. Friends may call at the convent from 11 a.m.
until 8:30 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday. Bryant-Christians
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to
Dominican Sisters, Office of Mission and Ministry, 3600 Broadway, Great

Rogelio Ramirez 1958-2000
Alejandro "Alex" Ramirez 1988-2000
Maira Lorena Ramirez 1989-2000
JUAN ALDAMA, MEXICO - Rogelio Ramirez, 43, his son Alex, 12, and his
daughter, Maira Lorena, 10, of 2115 Monroe, died Nov. 5 near Juan Aldama,
Zac., Mexico, as a result of an automobile accident. Rogelio was born Dec.
6, 1958 in Juan Aldama, the son of Margarito and Antonia Ramirez. A resident
of Great Bend, he worked for 15 years in the production department at Great
Bend Packing.
Alejandro ?Alex? was born March 9, 1988, in Great Bend. He attended the
sixth grade at Park Elementary School.
Maira Lorena was born Dec. 26, 1989, in Great Bend. She attended the fourth
grade at Park Elementary School.
Survivors include their wife and mother, Carmen, of the home, four sons and
brothers, Fernando Ramirez and George Ramirez, who attend Fort Hays State
University in Hays, and Anthony Ramirez and Miguel Ramirez of the home; and
father and grandfather Margarito Ramirez, of the home. Also lost in the
accident were Rogelio?s mother Antonia and brother Pedro.
Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Rose Catholic Church in Great
Bend. Funds to help defray the family?s expenses are established at First
Christian Church, 5230 Broadway, Landmark Federal Savings or Farmers Bank
and Trust, all of Great Bend.

Gary P. Sokola 1941-2000
DODGE CITY - Gary P. Sokola, 59, died Nov. 8 at Via Christi Regional Medical
Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born Aug. 31, 1941, at
Detroit, Mich., the son of Peter and Marie Kobielski Sokola. A Dodge City
resident for two years, coming from Indianapolis, Ind., he was a self
employed machinist.
Sokola was deputy director of competition at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
from 1987 to 1998, president and business manager of Southern California
Racing Association from 1978 to 1987, and former general manager and
promoter of Dodge City Raceway Park.
Survivors include one son, Mark Sokola of Costa Mesa, Calif.; one daughter,
Lauraie Simon of Laguna Beach, Calif.; parents, of Grass Valley, Calif.; and
one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one sister.
The body was cremated and a service will be held at a later date in Grass
Valley, Calif. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. today at 1818 Fairway Drive in
Dodge City. Memorials can be sent to the Gary Sokola Memorial Fund, 1818
Fairway Drive, Dodge City. Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore, is in charge of
local arrangements.

Ervin J. Linsner 1916-2000
HOISINGTON - Ervin J. Linsner, 84, died Nov. 8 at his home in Hoisington.
He was born May 1, 1916, in Barton County, the son of Robert W. and Anna
Werner Linsner. He married
Edna B. Esfeld June 26, 1941, in Wichita. She
died Sept. 19, 1990. A lifetime resident of Barton County, he was a farmer,
cattleman and salesman for McPherson Insurance.
Linsner was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the
Knights of Columbus, both of Hoisington; board of directors of United
Agriculture in Galatia and the recipient of Conservation Bankers Award. He
was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Kirby Linsner and Don Linsner, both of
Hoisington, and Elwyn Linsner of McPherson; seven grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert
Linsner; and two sisters, Mary Debes and Helen Pratt.
Vigil services will be at 7 tonight at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in
Hoisington, followed by Knights of Columbus rosary. Funeral will be at 10
a.m. Saturday at the church in Hoisington with the Rev. Pascal Klein
officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Catholic cemetery in Hoisington,
followed by military graveside services by the Veterans of Foreign Wars
7428 and American Legion Post 286. Friends may call until 9 tonight at the
funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or Ervin J. Linsner
Fund, both in care of the funeral home.
