Florence Libby 1922-2000
LITTLE RIVER - Florence Libby, 78, died Oct. 5 at the Lyons District
Hospital. She was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Sweet Springs, Mo., the daughter of
George and Grace LaRue Lemmons. She married
Lawrence Griffitt April 20,
1940, at Sweet Springs. She then married
Robert Libby Nov. 25, 1977, at
Little River. He died June 22, 1991. A resident of Rice County since 1948,
she worked at Gibson Discount Store and was a custodian at Rockville
School. She also worked as a nurse's aide and medical aide at Sandstone
Heights Nursing Home before retiring in 1992.
Mrs. Libby was a member of United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women,
Senior Center and Worthwhile FHU, all of Little River.
Survivors include one son, Larry Griffitt of Lyons; three daughters, Grace
Gillespie of Chase, Debbie Konen of Little River and Pam Griffitt of Lyons;
one step-daughter, Janis Stremel of Ellinwood; four sisters, Polly Elsea,
Georgia Mae Neece, Opal Griffitt, all of Sweet Springs, Mo., and Alma
Sevier of Strong City; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 10
step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by one step-son, Dick Libby.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Revs. Marc
McDonald and Grant Davis. Burial will be at Beau Memorial Cemetery. Friends
may call from 2-7 p.m. today at Sillin Funeral Home in Lyons. The family
will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Memorials
are suggested to Sandstone Heights Nursing Home or Hospice of Reno/Rice
County, in care of the funeral home.

John S. 'Steve' Doherty 1942-2000
HUTCHINSON - John S. "Steve" Doherty, 58, died Oct. 5 at Hutchinson
Hospital. He was born Sept. 2, 1942, in Great Bend, the son of John H. and
Lillian "Margie" Hannegan Doherty. He was a graduate of Great Bend High
School. He married
Sandra S. Nicoll Dec. 28, 1972, in Great Bend. A
resident of Hutchinson since 1998, coming from Webster, Texas, he was a
maintenance electrician and former employee of Tony's Pizza.
Doherty was a member of Knights of Columbus Council and was of the Catholic
faith. He was a veteran of U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, David Doherty of
Hutchinson and Brian Doherty of Newton; his mother of Mulvane; three
brothers, Bernard Doherty of Vacaville,Calif., Mike Doherty of Great Bend
and Daniel Doherty of Gering, Neb.; four sisters, Christine Mohn of
Lawrence, Katherine Sanford of Harlingen, Texas, Paula Slone of Derby and
Susan Beck of Mulvane; and one granddaughter.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary with the
Rev. Ned Blick officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley
Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Reno County, in care of
the mortuary.

Earl Wayne Ringeisen 1934-2000
WICHITA - Additional survivors of Earl Wayne Ringeisen, 66, who died Sept.
30 in Houston, Texas, are one daughter, Shawn Immediato of Ellinwood; and
three grandchildren.

Richard J. Sutton 1921-2000
HOISINGTON - Richard J. Sutton, 79, died Oct. 3 at Hoisington
Rehabilitation Center in Hoisington. He was born May 27, 1921, in
McCracken, the son of Frank L. and Virginia Hardgrove Sutton. A lifetime
resident of Hoisington, he was a farmer and a former employee of
Missouri-Pacific Railroad.
Sutton was a member of American Legion 286 in Hoisington and was a veteran
of World War II.
Survivors include many cousins.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in
Hoisington, with the Rev. Daniel Trickey officiating. Burial will be at
Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from
9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are
suggested to Clara Barton Foundation or the Hoisington Ambulance Fund, in
care of the funeral home.

Roy E. Carder 1912-2000
JETMORE - Roy E. Carder, 87, died Wednesday at Maranatah Manor in
Springfield, Mo. He was born Oct. 27, 1912, in Texas County, Okla., the son
of Jacob and Grace Lovelace Carder. He married
Lolita Hertel June 2, 1940,
at Ness City. A lifetime resident of the Jetmore area, he was a farmer and
stockman.
Carder was a member of First Assembly of God in Dodge City.
Surviors include his wife of the home; three sons, Royce Carder of Aurora,
Colo., Cleon Carder of Peoria, Ariz., and Varlyn Carder of Springfield,
Mo.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by two brothers, Theadore Carder and Albert Carder; three sisters
Bell Carder, Faye Swagerty and Fairy Taylor.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. David Graves
officiating. Burial will be at Fairmont cemetery in Jetmore. Friends may
call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore.
Memorials are suggested to First Assembly of God Foreign Mission Program,
in care of the funeral home.

Charles Rees 1922-2000
Charles Rees, 78, died Tuesday. He was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Columbia,
Mo., the son of Charles T. and Mary Etta Dennis Rees. He attended high
school in Columbia. He married
Arlene Kelley March 23, 1940, in Columbia.
She died Jan. 14, 1996. A 20-year resident of Great Bend, he was a
Commonwealth Theater manager for 50 years.
Rees was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, AF & AM No. 15, All York
Rite Bodies Consistory and a life member of BPOE of Elks 1127.
Survivors include one son, Harold Rees of Great Bend; and one daughter,
Mary Jo Rees of Brooklyn Center, Minn. He was preceded in death by one son,
Charles Terrill Rees; and one sister, Florence Meade.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Jerry Jones
officating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call until 9
p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Fryberger Funeral Chapel, and
from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. The family will receive
friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to

Herman Karst 1906-2000
HOISINGTON - Herman Karst, 93, died Oct. 2 at Hoisington Rehabilitation
Center in Hoisington. He was born Nov. 22, 1906, in Galatia, the son of
Henry and Maria Schengel Karst. He married
Tabea Steinert Nov. 6, 1927, in
Milberger. A lifetime resident of Galatia, he was a retired farmer and
stockman.
Karst was a member of United Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Milberger.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Herman L. Karst of
Casper, Wyo., and Wayne Karst of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters,
Christabelle Cuthrell of Otis and Nadine Deutsch of Hoisington; one
brother, Henry A. Karst of Hutchinson; 14 grandchildren; and 23
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Sigmund
Karst; seven sisters, Hannah Popp, Marie Kramer, Amelia Nuss, Katie Radke,
Bertha Piel, Natalie Lang and Mollie Nuss; one granddaughter, Kathryn
Cuthrell Jones.
Prayer services will be at 8 tonight at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in
Hoisington. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thurday at the church with the Rev.
Garry Dassow officiating. Burial will be at Milberger Cemetery. Friends may
call from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the
funeral home and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Earl Wayne Ringeisen 1934-2000
WICHITA - Earl Wayne Ringeisen, 66, died Sept. 30 in Houston, Texas. He was
born May 9, 1934, in Independence, the son of Clarence and Francis
Ringeisen. A former resident of Wichita, he was the vice-president of 3TEC
Energy Corporation in Houston.
Survivors include his wife, Char Ringeisen, of the home; one son, Rodney
Ringeisen of Bartlesville, Okla.; one daughter, Vicki Ringeisen of Oklahoma
City, Okla.; one step-daughter, Kenda Falley of Topeka; three
granddaughters; one step-grandson; one step-grandaughter; and one sister,
Jean Frick of Derby. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry
Ringeisen and Bill Ringeisen; and one sister, Kay Metzner.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi
Catholic Church in Wichita. Inurnment will be at Resthaven cemetery in
Wichita. SouthPark Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas, is in charge of
arrangements.

Ivan R. Kenyon 1910-2000
HILL CITY - Ivan R. Kenyon, 90, died Sept. 24 at Dawson Place Nursing Home
in Hill City. He was born March 11, 1910, in rural Graham County, the son
of Benedict Claudsley and Belle Boys Kenyon. He married
Delena Conyac May
14, 1934, in Damar. A lifetime resident of the Bogue area, he was a farmer
and stockman.
Kenyon was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Damar Knights of
Columbus, Mens Service Club of Bogue and Farm Bureau. He was a founding
member of Bogue Pinochle Club and had been a member of the Bogue School
Board.
Survivors include his wife of Hill City; two sons, Gary Kenyon of Great
Bend and Alan Kenyon of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Marilyn Kay Pozas
of Glendale, Ariz., and Jolene Alexander of Ottawa; one sister, Eleanor
Ekman of Mesa, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by three brothers, Everette Kenyon, Melvin Kenyon and
Wilbur Kenyon; and one sister, Mary Stephen.
A Christian wake will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Funeral will
be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Revs. Donald McCarthy and
Bill Kilian officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery in Damar.
Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Wednesday at Spencer Chapel of Hill City and
from 7 p.m. until wake service at the church. Family will receive friends
from 7 p.m. until the wake on Wednesday, followed by fellowship in the
church basement. Memorials are suggested to Dawson Place, in care of the
funeral chapel.
