Ralph William Wilson 1907-2000
LARNED - Ralph William Wilson, 93, died Oct. 26 at the Larned Health Center
and Living Center in Larned. He was born May 30, 1907, in Irving, the son
of Henry C. and Myrtle B. Wilburn Wilson. He married
Lucile Forbes on July
11, 1930, in Marysville. She died Nov. 21, 1997. Wilson operated a service
station in Clay Center. He coached the Clay Center All-Stars baseball team
in the 1950's. He served on the Clay County School Board for several years.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center. He was a
U.S. army veteran of War War II.
Survivors include one son, Richard 'Dick' Wilson of Westcliffe, Colo.; one
daughter, Colene Holmberg of Larned; one sister, Helen Beach of Clay
Center; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by two brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church in Clay Center with
the Rev. Rudy Cerullo II officiating. Burial will be at the Greenwood
Cemetery in Clay Center. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the
Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the church or
the New Covenant Church in Larned, in care of the funeral home.

Robert Dicus "Bob" Caraway 1927-2000
Robert Dicus 'Bob' Caraway, 73, died Oct. 25 at the Hutchinson Hospital. He
was born July 4, 1927, in Great Bend, the son of Leslie James and Ethel
Dicus Caraway. He married
Constance 'Connie' Gaunt on June 10, 1949, in
Kansas City, Mo. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a master
electrician, farmer, and co-owner of Caraway Enterprises.
Caraway was a member of the First Congregational, the United Church of
Christ, a past commander of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars,
Eagle Lodge of Great Bend, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers 661 of Hutchinson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviors include his wife of the home; two sons, Pat Caraway and Robert
Shanks Sr., both of Great Bend; one daughter, Janice Battin of Broken
Arrow, Okla.; one sister, Betty J. Drennon of Leavenworth; six
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one
brother, Jack Caraway.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bryant-Christians Chapel
with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the Great
Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.
until service time Saturday. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart
Association or the American Cancer Society, in care of Bryant-Christians
Funeral Home.

Margaret "Babe" Sarah Selle 1907-2000
Margaret 'Babe' Sarah Selle, 93, died Oct. 26 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Rose Campus. She was born Jan. 27, 1907, in Hesston, the
daughter of Jacob and Helena Wenger Heckens. She married
Otto Selle Feb.
24, 1929, in Great Bend. He died Feb. 12, 1980. A resident of Great Bend
since 1917, coming from Hesston, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the First Church of God, both of
Great Bend.
Survivors include one sister, Anna Gutierrez of Larned; two nephews,
Richard Gutierrez of Wichita and John Gutierrez of Larned; three neices,
Wanda Keenan of Pawnee Rock, Rita Ritter of Houston, Texas, and Virginia
Emmons of Ark.; She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Heckens
and Peter Heckens.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Great Bend cemetery with
the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Cremation has taken effect. Memorials are
suggested to the Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice or Great Bend Humane

Lindy G. Scheuerman 1928-2000
LIBERAL - Lindy G. Scheuerman, 72, died Oct. 25 at St. Francis Hospital in
Wichita. He was born March 3, 1928, in Rush County, the son of Conrad and
Rose Matel Scheuerman. He married
Frances Keslar on Oct. 14, 1953, at
Tucumcari, N.M. He attended school in Alexander and worked in bridge
consruction. He began his career in the oilfield with BS & B in Ellinwood.
He later worked for the O'Neal Tank Company of Great Bend. He worked for
the C&G Roustabout for 2 1/2 years. In 1978, he began the L&D Oilfield
Service and retired in 1988.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Dale Scheuerman of
Liberal and Gene Scheuerman of Valley Center; one daughter, Sharon Pool of
Carolton, Texas; five brothers, Marvin Scheuerman of Joplin, Mo., Gilbert
Scheuerman of Great Bend, Merle Scheuerman of Ellinwood, Donald Scheuerman
of Kalkaska, and Arlyn Scheuerman of Dodge City; two sisters, Clarinetta
Scheuerman of Otis and Maryann Prose of Chetopa; and five grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Miller Chapel with
the Rev. Fred Littlefield officiating. Burial will be at the Restlawn
Memorial Gardens. Friends may call until 8 p.m. tonight and 8 a.m. until
service time Saturday. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart
Assocaition or the Diabetes Association, in care of Miller Mortuary.

Betty R. McAllister 1930-2000
NICKERSON - Betty R. McAllister, 70, died Oct. 24 at her home in Nickerson.
She was born May 17, 1930, the daughter of Clark and Lanetta Carr
Faulkerson. She was a graduate of Nickerson High School. She married
Zack
McAllister Aug. 15, 1948, in Fort Collins, Colo. A longtime Nickerson
resident, she was a 25-year employee of Ark Veterinary Clinic in Sterling.
She also worked with A.D. Rayl Ford for 13 years before retiring in 1987.
Mrs. McAllister was a member of Nickerson United Methodist Church, Women of
the Moose Lodge 982, and served on the Nickerson Library Board.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Mike McAllister of
South Hutchinson and Stan McAllister of Hutchinson; two brothers, Jack
Faulkerson of Arvada, Colo., and Clark Faulkerson of Grand Junction, Colo.;
one sister, Marion Shuey of Great Bend; three grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four
stepgreat-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park in
Hutchinson with the Rev. Linda Louderback officiating. Memorials are
suggested to the Hospice of Reno County, Nickerson Public Library or
Nickerson United Methodist Church, all in care of Elliott Mortuary of
Hutchinson.

James Baker Adee 1916-2000
MILTONVALE - James Baker Adee, 83, died Oct. 23 at Salina Regional Health
Center. He was born Oct. 24, 1916, in Oak Hill, the son of Richard and
Olive Baker Adee. He married
Edith Gaines on Feb. 9, 1946, in Phillipsburg.
She died Jan. 6, 1991.
He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bethany
Free Methodist Church and Mount Liberty United Methodist Church. He was a
U.S. veteran of War War II.
Survivors include one son, Merlyn Adee of Miltonvale; two daughters, Maryln
Benfer of Longford and Jacq'ue King of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother,
Richard Adee of Great Bend; three sisters, Glenys LaQuay of Silver Springs,
Md., Bernys McCoy of Miltonvale and Ferne Johnson of Delphos; six
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at F.C. Hill Memorial Weslyn Church of
Miltonvale with the Rev. Ralph Helsel officiating. Burial will be at the

Albert A. Hayden 1920-2000
STAFFORD - Albert A. Hayden, 80, died Oct. 23 at his home in Stafford. He
was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Stafford, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Sheeks
Hayden. He was a graduate of Stafford High School and Hutchinson Community
College, where he played football. He married
Deloris May Christie Corby
Dec. 25, 1952, in St. John. She died Oct. 13, 1978. He married
Jane Randel
June 16, 1984, in Peculiar, Mo. A lifetime resident of Stafford, he was a
driller in the oil field.
Hayden was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, both
of Stafford; National Rifle Association and Odd Fellows Lodge of St. John.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sons, David Corby of Stafford and Danny Corby of St.
John; two step-daughters, Sherri Meyers of Wichita and Tammy Ward of St.
John; four brothers, John Hayden and Chet Hayden, both of Stafford, Trenton
Hayden of Mechanicsberg, Ind., and Sam Hayden of El Paso, Texas; two
sisters, Norraine Keton of Swifton, Ark., and Naomi Rundell of Ulysses;
eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by one sister, Billie Munden, and one brother.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Minnis Chapel in Stafford. Burial
will be at Stafford Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday at
the chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Stafford Educational Foundation,
in care of the chapel.

Floyd O. Kraus 1914-2000
TOPEKA - Floyd O. Kraus, 85, died Oct. 21 in Topeka. He was born Dec. 28,
1914, in Eskridge, the son of William A. and Pearl Rock Kraus. He married
Doris Irene Mack March 20, 1943, in Lawrence. She died May 19, 2000. He
worked for Kopps Flooring as a flooring installer and for Ray Beers Clothing
Company as a tailor until his retirement. After retirement, he worked for a
short while for Sears as a tailor, then for the Topeka Tent and Awning
Company.
Kraus was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Topeka. He was in the Radio
Command Platoon of the 114th Cavalry.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet L. Kraus of Topeka; one sister, Lola
Ackerstrom of Topeka; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel in
Topeka. Cremation will take place with a private family inurnment. Memorials
are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, 3625 SW 29th St.,
Topeka, KS 66614.
