Vida Mary Fleming 1908-2000
LARNED - Vida Mary Fleming, 92, died Sept. 27 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, Long Term Care, Larned. She was born Aug. 15, 1908, at Albert, the
daughter of Thomas and Dena Budde Brady. She was a graduate of Salt City
Business College in Hutchinson. She married
James Eugene "Gene" Fleming at
Larned. He died July 29, 1989. A lifetime resident of Rush and Pawnee
counties, she was engaged in farming and ranching with her husband.
Mrs. Fleming was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned.
Survivors include one son, Jim Fleming of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; two
daughters, Jeanne Keith of Potomac Falls, Va., and Dorace Smith of Fort
Wayne, Ind.; one brother, Calvin Brady of Albert; eight grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers,
Delevand Brady, Glen Brady and Milton Brady; and two sisters, Mable Brady
and Julia Hagerman.
Parish vigil will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev.
James Roth officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call
from 9 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested
to Fort Larned Historical Society or Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund,
both in care of the funeral home.

Kathryn Wilson 1954-2000
Kathryn Wilson, 46, died Sept. 27 at Wichita.

Walter C. 'Wally' Giebler 1912-2000
HAYS - Walter C. "Wally" Giebler, 88, died Sept. 26 at Hays Medical Center,
St. Anthony Campus. He was born Aug. 10, 1912, at Hays, the son of Joseph
J. and Lucy Gauss Giebler. He was a 1930 graduate of Hays High School. He
married Aileen Weigel Feb. 17, 1941, in Hays. A lifetime resident of Hays,
he was a retired plumber for Glassman-Staab.
Giebler was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign
Wars, both of Hays. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Philip Giebler of Garden
City and Christopher Giebler of Burley, Idaho; two daughters, Nancy
Williams of Great Bend and Marlene Brown of Mankato; one brother, Ralph
Giebler of Hays; one sister, Rita Marie Frederickson of West Covina,
Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by one brother, Alfred Giebler; one sister, Victoria; and one
grandson, Patrick Brown.
Parish vigil will be at 7 tonight at Brock's North Hill Chapel in Hays.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Earl
Befort officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's cemetery in Hays with
military graveside honors by Hays VFW. Friends may call from 2-8 today and
from 8:30-9:45 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to
youth baseball programs of Hays Recreation Commission.

Ruth L. Carter 1905-2000
RUSSELL - Ruth L. Carter, 94, died Sept. 13 at Boswell Hospital, Sun City,
Ariz. She was born Oct. 26, 1915, at Eureka, Calif., the daughter of Oscar
William and Lottie Lydia Redell Lord. She married
McKean Carter April 23,
1927, at Reno, Nev. He died in 1971. A resident of Sun City since 1983,
coming from the Russell and Gorham area, she was a homemaker and assistant
postmaster in Gorham for several years.
Survivors include one son, Bill Carter of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter,
Susan Curtis of Great Bend; five grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, McKean Carter
Jr.; one brother; one sister; and one granddaughter, Peggy Fischer.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Russell City cemetery with
the Rev. Martha Hartman officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials
are suggested to Russell County Food Pantry, in care of Pohlman's Mortuary
in Russell.

Romain M. Barrow 1936-2000
Romain M. Barrow, 64, died Sept. 27 at her home in rural Great Bend. She
was born Jan. 3, 1936, at Hudson, the daughter of Herman and Emma Fischer
Hullman. She was a 1953 graduate of St. John High School and a graduate of
Salt City Business College in Hutchinson. She married
Robert D. Barrow June
12, 1955, in Hudson. A lifetime resident of Stafford and Barton counties,
she was a housewife.
Mrs. Barrow was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and WSCS, both
of Ellinwood, and Barton County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, Ronnie Barrow and
Terry Barrow, both of Great Bend, and Tom Barrow of Baltimore, Md.; one
brother, Don Hullman of Pratt; one sister, Norma Blakeslee of St. John; and
five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Loren Hullman.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Satuday at the church with the Rev. Larry Young
officiating. Burial will be at Lakin-Comanche District cemetery in
Ellinwood. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Friday at Kimple Funeral Home in
Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral

Anna B. Ozbun 1928-2000
WICHITA - Anna B. Ozbun, 72, died Sept. 26 in Wichita. She was born June
28, 1928. She married
Charles E. Ozbun Jr. of Great Bend. He preceded her
in death. A resident of Wichita, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Gregg Ozbun of Valley Center and Brent Ozbun of
Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Linda Hunsaker of Warrensburg, Mo.; one
sister, Mary Hampton of Joplin, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita.

Lillian M. Wishnuck 1926-2000
ELLIS - Lillian M. Wishnuck, 74, died Sept. 26 at Hays Medical Center. She
was born March 6, 1926, at Ellis, the daughter of Jacob and Otillia Bittel
Kinderknecht. She married
Joseph F. Wishnuck March 5, 1946, at Ellis. He
died Dec. 30, 1987. A lifetime resident of Ellis, she was a homemaker and
worked for Ellis Good Samaritan Center.
Mrs. Wishnuck was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Ladies
Auxiliary, both of Ellis and AARP.
Survivors include one son, Joseph L. Wishnuck of Norman, Okla.; seven
daughters, Diane Boos and Karla Wishnuck, both of Ellis, Darlene Williams
of Wichita, Lenora Staab and Vera Kinderknecht, both of Hays, Karen
Wishnuck of Stafford, Tammy Shelton of Jasper, Ark.; five brothers, Walter
Kinderknecht of Kimble, Neb., Ralph Kinderknecht and Alan Kinderknecht,
both of Ellis, Victor Kinderknecht of Wakeeney and Richard Kinderknecht of
Colby; two sisters, Beatina Weber of Great Bend and Ione Dinkel of Ellis;
15 grandchildren; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
three brothers, Eugene Kinderknecht, Herman Kinderknecht and Charles
Kinderknecht; one sister, Ragina Goff; and one grandson, Lonnie Boos.
Rosary service will be at 7 tonight at Wasinger Funeral Chapel in Ellis.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mike
Suchnicki officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's cemetery in Ellis.
Friends may call from 6:30-8 tonight and 8:30 a.m. until service time
Thursday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Lillian
Wishnuck Memorial Fund, for the purpose of purchasing medical equipment for
Hays Medical Center Oncology Unit, in care of the funeral home.

Betty Lou Thornton 1933-2000
Betty Lou Thornton, 67, died Sept. 25 at Hutchinson. She was born June 3,
1933, at Overland Park, the daughter of Olus Guthrie and May Juanita Seal
Brough. She attended Great Bend High School. She married
Calvin "Cotton"
Thornton. He died June 30, 1968. A longtime resident of Great Bend, she was
a homemaker.
Mrs. Thornton attended First Christian Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Thornton of Great Bend and Greg Thornton
of Thibodaux, La.; one daughter, Rosie Woods of Great Bend; and two
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred Brough,
Robert Brough and Albert Brough.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fryberger Mortuary in Great Bend
with the Rev. Don Paden officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial
Park. Friends may call until 9 tonight at the funeral home. The family will
receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral

Dolores G. Herrman 1933-2000
LIEBENTHAL - Dolores G. Herrman, 67, died Sept. 25 at Rush County Nursing
Home in La Crosse. She was born June 18, 1933, at Pfeifer, the daughter of
Paul and Genevive Breit Burghart. She married
Elmer Herrman Feb. 6, 1951,
at Hays. A resident of Liebenthal since 1958, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Herrman was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar Society,
both of Liebenthal.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Kenneth Herrman and Gerald
Herrman, both of Liebenthal, and Elmer Herrman, Jr. of La Crosse; two
daughters, Karen Williams of Liebenthal and Connie Conner of Alexander; one
brother, Mark 'Shorty' Burghart of Hays; two sisters, Mary Nichols of
Victoria and Marcella 'Celia' Staab of Hays; 10 grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester
Burghart and Victor Burghart; and one sister, Thelma Dreher.
Rosary will be at 7:30 tonight at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev.
Benjamin Martin officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's cemetery in
Liebenthal. Friends may call until 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.
