Luella E. Rein 1906-2000
RUSSELL - Luella E. Rein, 94, died July 19 at Beverly Health Care Center in
Lucas. She was born April 12, 1906, at Russell, the daughter of George Jr.
and Beatrice Keil Rein. A lifetime resident of the Russell area, she was a
homemaker and self-employed seamstress.
Miss Rein was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Russell.
Survivors include one brother, Leon Rein of Longmont, Colo.; and three
sisters, Marie Ford of Salina, Helen Lockyer of Junction City and Darlene
Woodson of San Diego, Calif. She was preceded in death by three brothers,
Herman Rein, Elmer Rein and Alvin Rein; and one sister, Hilda Michel.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Earl Haggard
officiating. Burial will be at Russell City Cemetery. Friends may call from
2-9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, all at Pohlman's Mortuary
in Russell, and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.

Janet R. Bieberle 1939-2000
Additional survivors of Janet R. Bieberle, 61, who died July 19 at Via
Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita, are eight
grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by one
grandchild.

E.L. 'Red' Schuster 1911-2000
ELLIS - E.L. "Red" Schuster, 88, died July 20 at Ellis Good Samaritan
Center in Ellis. He was born Oct. 13, 1911, in Trego County, the son of
Ferdinand and Klara Baumgartner Schuster. He married Iva Withers Feb. 27,
1938, at Ellis. A resident of Ellis, he was a farmer, stockman and was
employed by Federal Crop Ins. for 31 years as an adjustor.
Schuster was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis and Knights of
Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Mike Schuster of Ellis;
two daughters, Gwen Wiesner of Great Bend and Lois Brinker of Abilene; nine
grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four
brothers and five sisters.
Rosary service will be at 7 tonight at Wasinger Funeral Chapel in Ellis.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Kevin
Weber officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call
from 2-8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church
or Ellis Good Samaritan Center, both in care of the funeral home.

William D. Hoberecht 1909-2000
William D. Hoberecht, 91, died July 20 at Central Kansas Medical Center,
St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born June 17, 1909. Survivors and
funeral arrangements will be announced by Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in
Great Bend.

Wayne Smith 1928-2000
RAYMOND - Wayne Smith, 72, died July 20 at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born
July 18, 1928. Survivors and funeral arrangements will be announced by
Kimple Inc. Funeral Home in Ellinwood.

Roman Joseph Hein 1912-2000
ANDALE - Roman Joseph Hein, 88, died July 18 at Wichita. He was born May
28, 1912, at Andale, the son of Joseph J. and Mary Ann Horsch Hein. He
married Barbara Boor Sept. 15, 1941, at Odin. She died Oct. 11, 1995. A
resident of Andale, he was a farmer and a retired employee of Andale
Farmers Co-op.
Hein was a member of Andale Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include six sons, Joseph Hein of Wichita, Thomas Hein of
Hoisington, David Hein of Austin, Texas, Leonard Hein of Mount Hope, Roman
Hein Jr. and Bernard Hein, both of Andale; four daughters, Rosemary
Pawloski of Derby, Marilyn Guy of Forsyth, Mo., Elfrieda Boehnke of Great
Bend and Margaret Schoch of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Sally Bray of
Fredonia; 39 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Rosary service will be at 7:30 tonight at St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Andale. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev.
Reinhard Eck officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends
may call until 5 tonight at Wulf-Ast Mortuary in Mount Hope. Memorials are
suggested to American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.

Janet R. Bieberle 1939-2000
Janet R. Bieberle, 61, died July 19 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center,
St. Francis Campus in Wichita. She was born Jan. 9, 1939, at Beaver, the
daughter of Matt and Irene Reif Polzin. She married Clifford C. Bieberle
Oct. 19, 1957, at Dubuque. A resident of Barton County for most of her
life, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Bieberle was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Altar
Society, both in Great Bend.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Daniel J. Bieberle of
Medicine Lodge and James A. Bieberle of Great Bend; three daughters, Linda
K. Francis, Victoria L. Woodral and Donna M. Eshleman, all of Great Bend;
her father; three brothers, Eldon "Butch" Polzin of Emporia, Ronnie Polzin
and William Polzin, both of Hoisington; and one sister, Maxine Olivier of
Danville.
Rosary service will be at 7 tonight at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in
Great Bend. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with the Revs.
Warren Stecklein and Victor Bieberle officiating. Burial will be at Great
Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Kidney Foundation or St. Francis Dialysis
Center-Victory in the Valley, both of Wichita, in care of the funeral home.

Mary E. Helm 1928-2000
CHASE - Mary E. Helm, 71, died July 15 at Hutchinson Hospital. She was born
Sept. 19, 1928, at Jonesboro, La., the daughter of H.L.D. and Hattie
Frances Lanham Scott. She married Kenneth A. Helm Sept. 27, 1963, at Haven.
He died Oct. 4, 1999. A resident of Chase for 34 years, she was a homemaker
and former cook for Chase school district.
Survivors include four sons, Otis Wayne Smith of San Diego, Calif., Kenneth
A. Helm of Fort Scott, James Carlis Smith and Richard Allen Smith; two
daughters, Mary Ellen Steele of Chase and Lola Frances Huskey of Aztec,
N.M.; one brother, J.L. Scott of Wichita; two sisters, Dorothy Roof of
Ellinwood and Sue Brower of Lyons; 10 grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Theo Scott;
and one sister, Lona Mae Potter.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sillin Funeral Home in Lyons with
the Rev. Tom Eastman officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal
Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral
home on Thursday. Memorials are suggested to Center for Basic Cancer
Research, Kansas State University, in care of the funeral home.

Allan Charles Wittman 1942-2000
BAZINE - Allan Charles Wittman, 58, died July 17 at his home in Bazine. He
was born July 6, 1942, at Bazine, the son of Jacob and Pauline Wittig
Wittman. A lifetime resident of Bazine, he was employed by Marshall Auto
Sales for 24 years.
Wittman was a member of St. Paul's Congregational Church in Bazine.
Survivors include two brothers, Melvin L. Wittman of Ness City and Fred
Wittman of Mesquite, Nev.; and one sister, Helen Olmstead of South Colton,
N.Y. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Glen Wittman, Jerry
Wittman and Vernon Wittman.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bazine cemetery with the
Rev. Buzz Lambrecht officiating. Friends may call until 9 tonight at
Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City. Memorials are suggested to Allan
Wittman Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Agda Evelyn Berglund 1915-2000
LARNED - Agda Evelyn Berglund, 84, died July 16 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Joseph Campus, in Larned. She was born Nov. 6, 1915, in
Nettleton, the daughter of Andy and Clara Polson Carlson. She married Earl
W. Berglund June 28, 1936, at Garden City. He died Aug. 31, 1991. A
resident of Larned, she was a retired self-employed painter and wallpaper
hanger.
Mrs. Berglund was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Larned.
Survivors include one daughter, Vicki Dipman of Larned; two brothers, John
Carlson Sr. of Howell and Nelson Carlson of Tecumseh; two granddaughters;
and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned
with the Rev. David Parks officiating. Burial will be at Garfield Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time
Wednesday, all at the chapel. Memorials are suggested to the church, in
care of the chapel.

David Edward Bishop 1919-2000
SUN CITY, Ariz. - David Edward Bishop, 79, died June 12. He was born Dec.
29, 1919, in Elden, Mo. He married Hellen Fradd in 1940. He was a resident
of Sun City, coming from Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, David Bishop Jr. and
Richard Bishop; and three grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Best Funeral Services in Peoria, Ariz.

William Grant Smith Neal 1923-2000
ALTAMONT - William Grant Smith Neal, 77, died July 9 at Wesley Medical
Center in Wichita. He was born Jan. 22, 1923, at Utica, the son of Jesse
Glen and Bessie Omelia Smith Neal. He was a 1941 graduate of Hoisington
High School, attended Wichita State University and was a 1950 graduate of
Kansas State University. He married Natalie Anne Baker Dec. 23, 1947. A
resident of Altamont. he was a district claims representative for Farm
Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. for 34 years.
Neal was a member and past ruling elder of First Presbyterian Church in
Oswego. He was a member of Altamont Library Board, Parsons Country Club,
Masonic Lodge, Acacia Fraternity and Third Marine Division Association. He
served on the Altamont Grade School board, was past president of Altamont
Lions Club and past district commissioner of Boy Scouts of America. He was
a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Bill Neal Jr. of Parsons;
one daughter, Candise Fountain of Falls Church, Va.; two brothers, Cecil
Neal of Oregon, Wis., and Willis Neal of Overland Park; five sisters,
Glenna Schneider of Tribune, Twyla Miller of Broken Arrow, Okla., Sally
Hager of Dighton, Phyllis Leurman of Hoisington and Penny McClung of
Attica; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by one sister, Jessie Kasselman.
Funeral service was July 14 at First Presbyterian Church in Oswego.
Memorials are suggested to Altamont City Library or Parsons Country Club-
Parsons Katy Junior Golf Programs.
