Debra Sue Dixon 1957-2000
Debra Sue Dixon, 43, died June 11 at her residence in Great Bend. She was
born Feb. 5, 1957, in Great Bend, the daughter of Lee Ray and Lois Marie
Smith Dixon. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was co-owner and
operator of Dixon Rental and former owner of Poodle Grooming by Debi.
She was a member of Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include her father of Great Bend; one brother, Nathan A. Dixon of
Great Bend; and one sister, Glenda I. Short of Great Bend.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bryant-Christians Chapel in Great Bend
with the Rev. Julius C. Ellis officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend
Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. Wednesday, from 9 a.m. until 9
p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday, all at the funeral
home. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, in care of the
funeral home.

Lena Mae Bennett 1924-2000
HOISINGTON - Lena Mae Bennett, 76, died June 10 at Integrated Health
Services in Great Bend. She was born April 25, 1924, in Barnsdale, Okla.,
the daughter of Euna H. and Violet M. King Hollingsworth. She married
George Amos Bennett March 23, 1941, at St. John. He died Oct. 14, 1976. A
resident of Hoisington since 1940, coming from Barnsdale, she was a nurse's
aide and homemaker.
Mrs. Bennett was a member of First United Methodist Church, past president
of Hoisington Hospital Auxiliary, NARVE, Heritage Association, past
president of Rebecca Lodge 478, volunteer for Hoisington Food Bank and past
president of Victory EHU, all of Hoisington. She was district coordinator
of Kansas Hospital Association, past president and district vice president
of Christian Women's Fellowship and a graduate of Menninger Bible Class.
Survivors include two daughters, Raynetta Ruth Manweiler of Great Bend and
Marilyn Jane Koch of Austin, Minn.; one brother, Dr. Howard Hollingsworth
of Hutchinson; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by one sister, Imogene Kimbro.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral
Home in Hoisington with Gary Manweiler officiating. A private family burial
will be at Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Clara Barton
Foundation, in care of the funeral home.

Edward Wayne Messner 1952-2000
ELLINWOOD - Edward Wayne Messner, 47, died May 27 at Logan, Okla. He was
born Aug. 15, 1952, at Darrouzett, Texas, the son of Wayne and Pauline
Messner. He was a 1970 graduate of Beaver High School, attended Cameron
University in Lawton, Okla., and graduated from Texas State Institute in
1977 in auto mechanics. He married
Susan Foster Aug. 19, 1978, at
Darrouzett. A resident of Logan, Okla., he was employed by Enron Gas Co.
for the past 16 years and also worked with cattle and farming.
Messner was a member of American Legion 635 in Darrouzett. He was a veteran
of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam War on the USS Coral Sea
during the evacuation of American troops at the end of the Vietnam War. He
also served on the USS Ticonderoga during the recovery of the Apollo 17.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Darryl Messner and Donnie
Messner, both of the home; his mother of Logan; and three sisters, Texanna
Ollenberger of Paola, Deanna Rogers of Ellinwood and Coleen Bradley of
Sherida, Wy.
Funeral was June 1 at Darrousett. Burial was a Darrouzett Cemetery. Local
arrangements were handled by Kimple Inc. Funeral Home in Ellinwood.
Memorials are suggested to donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.

Eugene O. Morsbach 1926-2000
LYONS - Eugene O. Morsbach, 74, died June 11 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born April 18, 1926, in
Salina, the son of Roy and Laura A. Moore Morsbach. A longtime resident of
Lyons, he was retired from Cessna.
Morsbach was a member of Assembly of God Church in Lyons. He was a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two brothers, Jesse Morsbach of Hoisington and Harry
Morsbach of Spokane, Wash. He was preceded in death by one brother, Lester
Morsbach; and one sister, Iva Boese.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lyons Municipal
Cemetery with the Rev. Travis Dumond officiating. Friends may call from 10
a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sillin Funeral Home in Lyons. Memorials are
suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.

Alfred H. Hildebrand 1920-2000
STAFFORD - Alfred H. Hildebrand, 79, died June 11 at his home in Stafford.
He was born July 26, 1920, in rural Stafford, the son of Henry and Margaret
Witt Hildebrand. He was a 1938 graduate of Stafford High School. He married
Wanda Carleton Feb. 5, 1943, at Stafford. A lifetime resident of Stafford,
he was a farmer.
Hildebrand was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Stafford. He was a
U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II from 1942-1946 as an
ambulance driver for the Army Medical Corps.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Gerald "Jerry" Hildebrand
of Pratt and Jeff Hildebrand of Turon; one sister, Lucille Moore of
Stafford; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. David
Vetter officiating. Burial will be at the Stafford Cemetery. Friends may
call from 1-8 tonight at Minnis Chapel in Stafford. Memorials are suggested
to the church, in care of the chapel.

Bonnie Ruth Flowers 1935-2000
Bonnie Ruth Flowers, 64, died June 11 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St.
Rose Campus in Great Bend. She was born Dec. 14, 1935, at Otis, the
daughter of Daniel E. and Lydia M. Muth Brack. She married
Richard R.
Flowers June 4, 1953, in Las Vegas, Nev. He died May 7, 1994. A lifetime
area resident, she was a sales clerk for Komarek Jewelers in Great Bend.
Mrs. Flowers was a member of Hart's Corner Baptist Missionary Church.
Survivors include one son, Ronald R. Flowers of Paola; one daughter, Orella
Lucas of Little River; three brothers, Dan Brack and Wibur Brack, both of
Farmington, N.M., and Tom Brack of Great Bend; five sisters, Evelyn Deines
and Dolores Fricks, both of Great Bend, Marlyn White of Royce City, Texas,
Wilma Cody of Welaka, Fla., and De Anna Robinson of Lee's Summit, Mo.; and
five grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. A.J.
Owens officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend.
Friends may call from 6-9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday,
both at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend, and from 9:30 a.m.
until service time Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials
are suggested to Leukemia Society, in care of the funeral home.

Elizabeth Walter 1910-2000
SALINA - Elizabeth Walter, 90, died June 9 at Sterling House Assisted
Living in Salina. She was born Jan. 15, 1910, at Blackwolf, the daughter of
William and Bessie Homolka Bartonek. She married
Leo Walter Aug. 14, 1940,
at Lincoln. A lifetime resident of the Wilson area, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Walter was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wilson.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three daughters, Shirley Walter,
Elsie Wendell and Betty Rigney, all of Salina; two sisters, Sylvia Kratky
of Wilson and Elsie Foran of Ellsworth; four grandchildren; four
step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five
step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, William
Bartonek.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Jim Wagner
officiating. Burial will be at Wilson City Cemetery. Friends may call until
8 tonight at Foster Mortuary in Wilson and from 9 a.m. until service time
Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church or to Hospice
of Salina, both in care of the funeral home.

Emilie LaVerne Steitz 1919-2000
NESS CITY - Emilie LaVerne Steitz, 80, died June 7 at Ness County Hospital
in Ness City. She was born Nov. 14, 1919, near Claflin, the daughter of
Wenslow and Annie Rous Mateyec. She married
Richard Steitz Aug. 7, 1938, at
Otis. He died Oct. 11, 1987. A resident of Ness City since 1959, she was a
homemaker.
Mrs. Steitz was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ness City.
Survivors include two sons, James P. "Jim" Steitz of Great Bend and Daniel
R. Steitz of Aurora, Colo.; one sister, Frances Evans of Modesto, Calif.;
five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Yvonne
Marshall officiating. Burial will be at the Ness City Cemetery. Friends may
call from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness
City. Memorials are suggested to the church or Ness County Hospital
Foundation, both in care of the funeral home.
