Vernon Leon Gee 1927-2000
ST. JOHN - Vernon Leon Gee, 72, died April 27 at Hutchinson Hospital. He
was born Oct. 23, 1927, at Kellyville, Okla., the son of James Ernest and
Cora Edith Gee. He married
Helen Juanita Gibson Nov. 30, 1948, at Bristow,
Okla. A resident of St. John since 1953, he was the owner of Gee Oil
Service in St. John until it sold in June, 1999. He also was past Co-op
manager, and operated Gee Hay Service and Gee's Diner, all of St. John.
Gee was past councilman and mayor of St. John, a member of St. John Saddle
Club, Elks Lodge, Stafford County Gun Club and St. John Lion's Club, all of
St. John. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, he was honorably discharged in
1947.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Darrel Leon Gee of
Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters, Carol Elizabeth Siefkes of Hudson and
Susan Diann Call of Lowell, Ark.; three sisters, Francis Cunningham and
Shirley Zanella, both of Montague, Calif. and Evelyn Gramm of Bristow,
Okla.; three stepsisters, Viginia VanDalsen and Mary Cordell, both of
Tulsa, Okla., and Opal Lucas of Sapulpa, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and
one grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earnest LeRoy
Gee, James Lewis Gee and Jimmy Ray Gee; one grandchild, Lisa Diann Call;
his parents; and step-parents.
Funeral was today at Minnis Chapel in St. John with the Rev. W. Harlan
Rittgers officiating. Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at
Kellyville cemetery in Kellyville, Okla. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to
2 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home in Sapulpa, Okla. Memorials are
suggested to Sunrise cemetery Fund in Kellyville.

Henry Herman Haberman 1915-2000
LARNED - Henry Herman Haberman, 85, died April 29 at Via Christi Regional
Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born June 15, 1915,
in Olmitz, the son of Joseph F. and Mary Weiser Haberman. He married
Eunice
LaVern Osborn May 23, 1956, at Larned. A resident of Larned since 1956,
coming from Hutchinson, he was a United States Postal Service worker.
Haberman was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign
Wars and American Legion, all of Larned; and a member of Fraternal Order of
Eagles of Great Bend. He was U.S Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Sandy Cutler of
Kingman; one brother, Emil Haberman of Larned; one sister, Frances Gasser
of Larned; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in
death by five brothers, Frank Haberman, Jule Haberman, Anton Haberman, Leo
Haberman and Joe Haberman; and three sisters, Mary Kevan, Amelia Gumbir and
Helen Boyd.
Vigil service will be at 7 this evening at the church. Funeral will be at
10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Dennis Reed officiating.
Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call until 6 tonight and
from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned.
Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.

Monte 'Ric' Metro 1951-2000
CONCORDIA - Monte "Ric" Metro, 48, died April 28 at his home in Concordia.
He was born Dec. 29, 1951, in Concordia, the son of Alfred and Della Mae
Monty Metro. He was a graduate of Concordia High School and later attended
Salina Area Technical School. He was a lifetime resident of Concordia.
Metro was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Knights
of Columbus, American Legion Post 76 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
588, all of Concordia.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula Metro of Lenexa, and Kayla Metro of
Concordia; his parents of Concordia; four brothers, Michael Metro of
Salina, Steve Metro of Albuquerque, N.M., Larry Metro of Great Bend and Jim
Metro of Concordia; five sisters, Julie O'Donnell of Salina and Sandra
Hittle, Jolene Clark, Geralyn Strait and Joyce Dutton, all of Concordia.
Vigil service will be at 7 this evening at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel
in Concordia. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the
Revs. Steven Heina and LeRoy Metro officiating. Burial will be at St.
Concordia Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 this evening at the funeral
home and from 9 a.m. to service time at the church. Memorials are suggested
to Kayla Metro Educational Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Ina Mae Roberts 1925-2000
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Ina Mae Roberts, 75, died April 29 at Poudre Valley
Hospital in Fort Collins, Colo. She was born March 10, 1925, in Quail,
Texas, the daughter of Herbert James and Beatrice Mae Furgeson Winegart.
She married
W.L. Roberts May 27, 1942, in Hollis, Okla. A resident of Fort
Collins for nine years and a one-time resident of Otis, she was a homemaker
and worked for several different greenhouses and florists.
Mrs. Roberts was of the Christian faith and attended both Methodist and
Baptist churches.
Survivors include her husband of the home; four sons, James Roberts of
Gulfport, Miss., Wilton Lee Roberts of Metropolis, Ill., Billie Roberts of
Fort Collins, Colo., and Kenneth Roberts of Littleton, Colo.; one daughter,
Mary Meisenheimer of Thornton, Colo.; one sister, Ruth Holland of Fort
Sumner, N.M.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by six siblings.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lutheran Campus Ministry, St. Thomas
Chapel in Fort Collins with the Rev. Connie Winter-Eulberg officiating.
Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Salvation

John Jasper Teel 1947-2000
ATWOOD - John Jasper Teel, 53, died April 28 in Ellis County following a
motor vehicle accident. He was born Feb. 8, 1947, in Quinter, the son of
Herbert Harold and L. Ethel Turner Teel. He was a graduate of Rexford High
School and Fort Hays State College. He married
Pearl Mason Aug. 28, 1970.
He married
Anna Hafer Knapp May 26, 1995, at Burlington, Colo. He was a
farm laborer, employed by Sweet Farms.
Teel was a member of United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 164 AF&AM and
Eastern Star Radiant Chapter 229, all of Atwood; and Veterans of Foreign
Wars in Whiting. He was U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Jasper Teel of Lawrence;
one daughter, Carla Warriner of Atchinson; one step-son, Michael Knapp of
McDonald; five step-daughters, Cynthia Owens of Kansas City, Mo., Cathleen
Loop of McDonald, Cheryl Colson of Colby, Connie McCain of Atwood and
Barbara Knapp of Beatrice, Neb.; one brother, James Teel of Hutchinson; two
sisters, Lois McMahan of Burlington, Colo., and Ann Zalewski of Colorado
Springs, Colo.; seven step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral was today at the church with Rev. Wayne Stephens officiating.
Burial was at Rexford cemetery in Rexford. Memorials are suggested to the
church or Atwood City Library, both in care of the funeral home.

Elizabeth Foos, 95, died April 30 at Indian Meadows Nursing Home in

Emilie Bitter Demek 1906-2000
HOISINGTON - Emilie Bitter Demek, 93, died June 17 at Central Kansas
Medical Center, Long Term Care in Ellinwood. She was born Oct. 24, 1906, in
Golga, Russia, the daughter of Ferdinand and Katherine Keil Schmidt. She
came to America from Russia in 1912. She married
Julius Bitter July 25,
1926, in rural Barton County. He died Feb. 3, 1953. She married
Robert
Dumler July 14, 1957. He died July 4, 1967. She married
Carl Demek Oct. 29,
1982. He died July 14, 1985. A resident of Barton County since 1921, she
was a homemaker.
Mrs. Demek was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Quilters of the
church, both of Hoisington.
Survivors include two sons, Harry Bitter and Eugene Bitter, both of
Hoisington; one daughter, Ruth Howard of Utica; eight grandchildren; 17
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two
step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild. She was
preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.
Prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home
in Hoisington. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church with
the Rev. Kelly Taylor Schaus. Burial will be at Hoisington Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and
from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Memorials are
suggested to the church or donor's choice, both in care of the funeral home.
Alta Faye Blanke 1938-2000
RUSSELL - Alta Faye Blanke, 61, died June 17 at Via Christi Regional
Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. She was born June 29, 1938,
at Athens, Ark., the daughter of Elbert and Pauline Tollett Golden. She
married Kenneth Blanke March 17, 1967, at Borger, Texas. A resident of
Russell since 1968, coming from Great Bend and Plainville, she was a
homemaker.
Mrs. Blanke was a member of Calvary Chapel Assembly of God Church in Russell.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, Jerry Mayberry of
Borger, Ricky Mayberry of Russell and Ronny Mayberry of Natoma; one
daughter, Lynn Smith of Hoisington; two step-sons, Eugene Blanke of
Claremore, Okla., and David Blanke of Florissant, Mo.; two step-daughters,
Heidi Blanke of St. Louis, Mo., and Star Blanke of Wichita; 17
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pohlman's Memorial Chapel in
Russell with the Rev. James Alexander officiating. Burial will be at
Russell City Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m.
until service time Tuesday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are
suggested to the church or Shrine Hospitals, both in care of the funeral
home.
