Raymond C. Fox 1925-2000
LARNED - Raymond C. Fox, 75, died May 8 at Santa Rosa, N.M. He was born
March 2, 1925, at Offerle, the son of Michael M. and Mary Ann Smith Fox. He
married Virginia Lee Cubbage Wilson May 7, 1977, at Lincoln, Mo. A resident
of Larned since 1944, he was a custom harvester and a carpenter.
Fox was a member of Larned United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Ronald Fox of Seattle,
Wash., Richard Fox of Great Bend, and Steven Fox of Larned; two daughters,
Elaine Musgrove and Susan Welsch, both of Larned; three step-daughters,
Betty McCord of Great Bend, Judy Luplow of Riley and Linda Reichert of
Hays; four brothers, Eugene Fox of Great Bend, Leo Fox of Larned, Robert
Fox of Nickerson and Melvin Fox of Wilson; 26 grandchildren; 16
great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by one granddaughter.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Charles Grant
officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Friends may call until 8
tonight at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned. Memorials are suggested to
the church scholarship fund, in care of the funeral home.

Irene I. Steele 1922-2000
JETMORE - Irene I. Steele, 78, died May 10 at her home in Jetmore. She was
born March 19, 1922, at Jetmore, the daughter of Ted and Lula Mary Sinclair
Rankin. She married
Wilbur "Bill" Steele in Texas. A lifetime resident of
Jetmore, she was a retired teacher of 35 years.
Mrs. Steele was a member of United Methodist Church, American Legion
Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Senior Center, Wagon Wheel Rounders and Homemaker
FCE Unit, all of Jetmore. She was also a member of Area Association of
Retired Teachers and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Don Steele of Dodge
City and Kim Steele of Wichita; and one grandson. Funeral will be at 2 p.m.
Friday at the church with the Rev. Mitch Reece officiating. Burial will be
at the Fairmount cemetery in Jetmore. Friends may call until 8 tonight and
from 9-11 a.m. Friday at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore. Memorials are
suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.

Lois M. Webb 1921-2000
LARNED - Lois M. Webb, 79, died May 10 at Hospice Residential Care Center
in Hutchinson. Survivors and funeral arrangements will be announced by
Morell Funeral Home in Larned.

Charles D. Mitchell 1916-2000
OVERLAND PARK - Charles D. Mitchell, 84, died May 8 at Villa St. Joseph in
Overland Park. He was born Feb. 6, 1916, at Belpre, the son of Allie and
Pearl Ivy Mitchell. He married
Catherine Maxine Land Sept. 11, 1938, at
Belpre. She died Sept. 6, 1994. He was a graduate of Fort Hays State
University in Hays. A 60-year resident of Mission, he was employed by
Mobile Oil Corporation.
Mitchell was a member of Countryside Christian Church in Mission, and was a
Mason for 44 years.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Mitchell of Olathe; and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned with
the Rev. Richard Martin officiating. Burial will be at Belpre cemetery in
Belpre. Friends may call until 8 tonight, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday
and from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the mortuary. Memorials are
suggested to the Heart of America Hospice, in care of the funeral home.

Ruth A. Shocklee 1916-2000
STAFFORD - Ruth A. Shocklee, 84, died May 8 at Stafford District Hospital.
She was born April 30, 1916, in Stafford County, the daughter of Earl B.
and Ethel J. Newell Davis. She married
Reginald Shocklee July 25, 1939, at
Stafford. He died Dec. 29, 1974. A resident of Stafford County for most of
her life, she had been a secretary for Stafford High School, a nurse aide
for Drs. Longwood and Brown and most recently was the curator for the
Stafford County Historical Society in Stafford.
Mrs. Shocklee was a member of First Christian Church, VFW Women's Auxiliary
and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, all of Stafford.
Survivors include one son, Rollin R. Shocklee of Stafford; two
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Stafford cemetery with the
Rev. Karen Ault officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Minnis
Chapel in Stafford. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice, in care
of the funeral home.

Lora Luella Heinze 1914-2000
STAFFORD - Lora Luella Heinze, 85, died May 7 at Evergreen Chehalem House
H&R Center in Newberg, Ore. She was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Stafford County,
the daughter of John Curtis and Myrtle Converse Adams. She married
Samuel
W. Heinze Oct. 6, 1935, at Seward. He died July 28, 1991. A past resident
of Fort Worth, Texas, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Heinze was a member of Wescliff Methodist Church of Fort Worth.
Survivors include one daughter, Jan Heinze of Denver, Colo.; and her
caregiver, Dixie Apperson-Marsh of Tigard, Ore. She was preceded in death
by three brothers, Earl Adams, Arthur Adams and Donald Adams; and three
sisters, Eleanor, Thelma and Dorothy.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Stafford cemetery with the
Rev. Karen Ault officiating. Minnis Chapel in Stafford is in charge of the
funeral arrangements.

Eugene 'Harry' Brack 1927-2000
OTIS - Eugene "Harry" Brack, 73, died May 8 at Hoisington Rehabilitation
Center in Hoisington. He was born Jan. 15, 1927, in rural Rush County, the
son of Henry H. and Mary Maier Brack. A lifetime resident of Rush County,
he was a farmer.
Brack was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea.
Survivors include one brother, Fredrick L. Brack of Emporia. He was
preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Brack; one sister, Vera
Cunningham; six half brothers; and eight half sisters.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse
with the Rev. Margaret Gary officiating. Burial will be at La Crosse City
Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 4 p.m. Friday and until service
time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the donor's

Florentine 'Tina' Rathbun 1925-2000
SALINA - Florentine "Tina" Rathbun, 74, died May 7 at Salina Regional
Medical Center. She was born Nov. 25, 1925, at Hays. She married
Clarence
E. Rathbun. He died in 1985. A longtime resident of Salina, she was a
homemaker.
Mrs. Rathbun was a member of St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church
in Salina.
Survivors include one son, Mark Rathbun of Salina; one daughter, Brenda
Brazil of Hydesville, Calif.; one brother, Wendelin "Buddy" Dinges of Hays;
four sisters, Isabella Koerner of Hays, Elizabeth Wolf of Denver, Colo.,
Leona Burnett and Henrietta Hoser, both of Great Bend; and three
grandchildren.
Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary in Salina. Funeral
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Barry Brinkman
officiating. Private burial will be at Mt. Calvary cemetery in Salina.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials are
suggested to the church building fund, in care of the funeral home.

Mary G. Karber 1902-2000
GYPSUM - Mary G. Karber, 97, died May 9 at her home southwest of Gypsum.
She was born Aug. 2, 1902, at Dubuque. She married
Henry M. Karber. He died
in 1977. A resident of the Gypsum area since 1925, she was a homemaker and
assisted her husband with farm work.
Mrs. Karber was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Church Altar
Society, Gypsum Senior Citizens Organization and the EHU Club, all of
Gypsum.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Karber and Jim Karber, both of Gypsum;
one daughter, Mary Jo Meyer of Gypsum; one sister, Isabelle Rome of
Wichita; 11 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by one son, Bernard Henry Karber; and one granddaughter, Theresa Kuhn.
Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary in Salina. Funeral
Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in
Salina with the Rev. John Wolesky officiating. Burial will be at St.
Patrick's Catholic cemetery southwest of Gypsum. Friends may call from 9
a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the
Bishop's Endowment for Education Fund, in care of the family.

Elsie M. Cummins 1905-2000
HOLYROOD - Elsie M. Cummins, 95, died May 6 at the Good Samaritan Center in
Ellsworth. She was born Jan. 2, 1905, at Holyrood, the daughter of Carl and
Bertha Frohrcich Russmann. She married
John W. Cummins Jan. 16, 1924, at
Holyrood. He died Aug. 2, 1940. A lifetime resident of Holyrood, she was a
retired telephone operator for the Holyrood Telephone Company and former
cook at St. Peter Lutheran Parochial School of Holyrood.
Mrs. Cummins was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Holyrood.
Survivors include three daughters, Bertha Dresden of Athens, Ga., Vida C.
Stanton of Milwaukee, Wis., and LaDene Terry of Fresno, Calif.; four
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
one brother, John Russmann; three sisters, Hertha Bilson, Olinda Hays and
Emma Schmidt.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. John Sharp
officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery in Holyrood. Friends may
call from 3-9 p.m. Thursday at Hays Funeral Home in Lindsborg and from 9
a.m. to service time Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the
church or Good Samaritan Center in Ellsworth, in care of the funeral home.
