Ralph E. Gisick 1908-2000
BISON - Ralph E. Gisick, 92, died April 9 at Rush County Memorial Hospital
in La Crosse. He was born Jan. 23, 1908, on a farm west of Timken, the son
of John and Emma Albright Gisick. He married
Augusta M. Seuser April 18,
1933, at Bison. A lifetime Rush County resident, he was a farmer active in
soil conservation.
Gisick was a member of Bison Methodist Church, Wet Walnut Watershed Board,
Rush County Fair Board and was on the last Lone Star school board.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Betty L. Seuser; two
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Melvin Gisick, Earl Gisick,
Harland Gisick and Clarence Gisick; and two sisters, Mabel and Edna.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Kathy
Bannister officiating. Graveside services will follow at Lone Star
Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 tonight and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday,
all at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, and 11 a.m. until service time
Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church or Bison
EMT, both in care of the funeral home.

Margaret Louise Wilhelm 1926-2000
LAWRENCE - Margaret Louise Wilhelm, 74, died April 7 at Lawrence
Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence. She was born March 9, 1926, at Kansas City,
the daughter of David and Anna Barnett Wilhelm. She was a 1947 graduate of
St. Rose School of Nursing in Great Bend. A resident of Lawrence since
1948, coming from Great Bend, she was a registered nurse at Watkins
Memorial Hospital at KU, until retiring in 1974.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Lawrence.
Survivors include one brother, Paul Wilhelm of San Diego, Calif.; and one
sister, Nadine Wegner of Mundelein, Ill.
Inurnment will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest cemetery in Great Bend with
Nancy Mitchell, PMA, officiating. Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan
Fund at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in
Lawrence.

The family of Karen Cook Becker, 62, who died April 8, will receive callers

Juanita Welch 1915-2000
ST. JOHN - Juanita Welch, 84, died April 8 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. She was born April 16, 1915, at
Kingman, the daughter of William H. and Ethel Haen. She married
Marion
Welch July 29, 1933, at Blackwell, Okla. He died June 2, 1982. A resident
of St. John, she was a municipal judge for St. John and a nurse's aide for
St. John Hospital.
Mrs. Welch was a member of Mother's Club and Bridge Club, both of St. John;
and Kansas Municipal Judge's Association.
Survivors include one son, Larry Welch of Lawrence; two daughters, Jana
Williamson of Casper, Wyo., and Marcia Koelsch of St. John; one brother,
Bill Haen of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Haen; and one sister, Mildred
Morgan.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Minnis Chapel in St. John. Burial
will be at Fairview Park cemetery in St. John. Friends may call from 1-8
p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's
Disease Research or American Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral
home.

Faye Rozella Beaver 1912-2000
HUTCHINSON - Faye Rozella Beaver, 87, died April 8 at Hutchinson Hospital
in Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 2, 1912, at Mullinville, the daughter of
Fay Robinson and Pearl Treasure Vosburgh. She married
Harley Beaver March
29, 1940, at St. John. He preceded her in death. She attended Hutchinson
and McPherson Junior Colleges. A resident of Hutchinson since 1994, having
lived in Tacoma, Wash., for 29 years and St. John for 25 years, she was a
supervisor for Goodwill Industries for 12 years and taught rural school in
Stafford County for four years.
Mrs. Beaver was a member of Eden Valley Church of the Brethren and past
president of the church Missionary Group and Ladies Aide Group, BPW,
Veterans of Foreign Wars, EHU-Kennelworth, 4-H Leader for Eden Valley
Hustlers Club, all of Stafford County.
Survivors include 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four
brothers, Clarence Vosburgh, Donald C. Vosburgh, Ed Vosburgh and Neil
Vosburgh; and three sisters, Leila Frederiksen, Lois Garrison and Florence
Riggs.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. W. David
Albright officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Park cemetery in St. John.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Minnis Chapel in St. John.
Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association or American Heart
Association, both in care of the funeral home.

Mabel Sarah Deckert 1907-2000
LARNED - Mabel Sarah Deckert, 92, died April 7 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Joseph Campus in Larned. She was born May 13, 1907, at
Portland, Ore., the daughter of James J. and Grave Mary Bennett Johnson.
She married
Albun P. Deckert Aug. 24, 1928, at Pawnee Rock. He died July 9,
1984. A lifetime Pawnee County resident, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Deckert was a member of United Methodist Church of Larned.
Survivors include four sons, Marvin Deckert of Blue Springs, Mo., Ronald
Deckert of Napa, Calif., James Deckert of Kansas City, Mo., and Kenneth
Deckert of Wichita; one daughter, Marcia Rider of Olathe; seven
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
one brother, Emery Bennett; and one sister, Mary Longwell.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned
with the Rev. Charles Grant officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery
in Larned. Friends may call until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Granville M. 'Mac' Bush 1920-2000
LYONS - Granville M. "Mac" Bush, 79, died April 7 at his home. He was born
July 15, 1920, at Kansas City, Mo., the son of Granville M. and Helen
Deford Bush. He married
Letha Epperly Jan. 31, 1943, at Lawrence. He was a
graduate of Southwest High School in Kansas City, Mo., received his BA from
the University of Kansas in 1942, and his LLB from University of Kansas in
1948. A resident of Lyons for 52 years and seasonal summer resident of
Meeker Park, Colo., he was an attorney for more than 50 years, senior
partner with Bush, Bush and Shanelec, with offices in Lyons and Sterling,
was former Rice County Attorney and Lyons City Attorney and was counsel for
Lyons Hospital and numerous schools, including Sterling College in
Sterling.
Bush was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lyons, a former Elder and
Trustee and member of Kappa Sigma and Phi Delta Phi. He was a World War II
U.S. Navy veteran, a communications instructor at Fort Schuyler, N.Y., and
was an officer aboard the USS George A. Johnson, serving in the Pacific and
Atlantic Theaters.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Granville M. Bush IV of
Sterling and John S. Bush of Lawrence; one daughter, Helen Louise Frick of
Kensington, Md.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church in Lyons with the Rev.
J. David Worthen officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal cemetery in
Lyons. Friends may call 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the church. Memorials
are suggested to Lyons District Hospital Foundation or USD 405 Educational
Foundation, both in care of Kimple Funeral Home.

John R. Winder Jr. 1921-2000
NEWTON - John R. Winder Jr., 78, died April 7 at his home. He was born
Sept. 17, 1921, at Abbeyville, the son of John Reuben Sr. and Amy Belle
Schnurr Winder. He married
Evelyn Hoyt Nov. 25, at Wichita. A resident of
Newton, he was a farm worker, worked for the War Department in Washington,
D.C., was a Reno County Courthouse Clerk, Santa Fe Passenger Agent and a
certified master gardener.
Winder was a member of St. Matthew's Church, serving as vestry clerk. He
was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a sergeant during World War II
from 1942-1946, and was a member of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, David James Winder of
Claremore, Okla.; two daughters, Lynda Diane Hurley of Livingston, N.J.,
and Debra Lynn Winder of Great Bend; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Joyce W.
Holmes officiating, with a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at
Abbyville cemetery in Abbeyville. Friends may call until 9 tonight with
family receiving friends from 7-8:30 p.m. tonight at Petersen Funeral Home
in Newton. Memorials are suggested to the church OEF Fund or American
Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral home.

Mrs. Casper A. (Loretta A.) Heinz 1907-2000
BUSHTON - Loretta A. Heinz, 90, died today at Ellinwood District Hospital
in Ellinwood, after a long illness. Survivors and funeral arrangements will
