Marjorie Alreice Brock 1935-2000
ST. JOHN - Marjorie Alreice Brock, 65, died April 20 at Hutchinson Hospital
in Hutchinson. She was born Jan. 28, 1935, at Great Bend, the daughter of
Alva A. and Marjorie Louise Stalcup Scheib. She married
John E. Brock Nov.
19, 1983, at Great Bend. She was a graduate of St. John High School. A St.
John resident since 1977, she was a homemaker and past owner of Margie's
Pub in St. John.
Mrs. Brock was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Rebekah
Lodge and the Stafford County Country Club, all of St. John.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Michael E. Nolte of
Hutchinson and Kurtis J. Brock of WaKeeney; five daughters, Debra J. Eden
of Gold Canyon, Ariz., Victoria L. Cline of Florissant, Colo., Pamela J.
Krankenberg of Hays, Jody G. Updegrove of Arlington, and Karla M. Gleason
of St. John; two sisters, Amy Dudrey of St. John and Carol Bird of Oklahoma
City, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Rosary is at 7 tonight at Minnis Chapel in St. John. Funeral Mass will be
at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Rene Guesnier officiating.
Burial will be at Fairview Park cemetery in St. John. Visitation will be
from 3-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the
church or the country club.

Aletha Mae Farmer 1939-2000
CLAFLIN - Aletha Mae Farmer, 60, died April 21 at Via Christi Regional
Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. She was born Oct. 27, 1939,
in Phillips County, the daughter of Thomas and Virginia Richardson
Ragsdale. She married
Melville Farmer May 11, 1956, in Hoisington. A
resident of Claflin for 30 years, coming from Hoisington, she was a
homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of the home; four sons, Lee Farmer of El
Reno, Okla., Dale Farmer of Claflin, Marty Farmer of Clairemore, Okla., and
Raymond Farmer of Kidder, Mo.; her mother of Claflin; two brothers, Kenneth
Ragsdale of Grover, Colo., and Scott Ragsdale of Las Vegas, Nev.; one
sister, Myrna Herrod of Wynnewood, Okla.; and six grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie Ragsdale.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in
Hoisington with the Rev. Matthew Price officiating. Burial will be at
Hoisington cemetery in Hoisington. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and
from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are
suggested to Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus Stroke
Unit, in care of the funeral home.

GUTHRIE, Okla. - The Rev. E. Val Bridenstine, 85, died April 20.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Friends Chapel Church in Coyle,

Sheryl K. Ward 1945-2000
ST. JOHN - Sheryl K. Ward, 54, died April 20 at Wesley Hospital in Wichita.
She was born Dec. 28, 1945, in Great Bend, the daughter of Samuel Lee and
Maurine Higgins. She married
Kenneth L. Ward April 1, 1961, at Great Bend.
He died March 9, 1994. A resident of Great Bend since 1999, coming from St.
John, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Ward was a member of First Nazarene Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth E. Ward and Kip E. Ward, both of St.
John; two daughters, Kelly Gonsalez and Kimberly Frydendall, both of Great
Bend; her mother, Maurine Walker of St. John; three brothers, Maurice L.
Higgins and Stephen E. Higgins, both of Sarasota, Fla., and Howard Higgins
of Kansas City, Mo.; one stepbrother, Jim Walker of Topeka; one stepsister,
Shirley Gabrielson of Wichita; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Minnis Chapel Inc. of St. John with the
Rev. Richard Ogle officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Park cemetery in
St. John. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Irene Macgirvin 1915-2000
HUTCHINSON - Irene Macgirvin, 85, died April 22 at Mennonite Friendship
Manor in Hutchinson. She was born Jan. 3, 1915, at Columbus, Neb., the
daughter of Roy and Nellie Lininger Stansill. She married
Harry D.
Macgirvin Sept. 2, 1932, at Pratt. He died Feb. 26, 1983. She was a
graduate of Pratt High School in Pratt. A resident of Hutchinson since
1983, coming from Pratt, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley Macgirvin and Emery Macgirvin, both of
Hutchinson; three daughters, Dorothy Whyte of Cottage Hills, Ill., Jean
Peevyhouse of Great Bend and Peggy Crupper of Haven; one brother, Richard
Stansill of Bend, Ore.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Dean
Macgirvin and David Mcgirvin; two brothers, Leroy Stansill and Neil
Stansill; and one sister, Vesta Marie Stansill.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Hutchinson
with the Rev. Jim Autrey officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery
in Pratt. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson & Sons

Doris E. Koch, 82, of Great Bend died April 22 at Cherry Village Nursing
Home in Great Bend.

John Thomas Hannah Jr. 1911-2000
John Thomas Hannah Jr., 88, died April 19 at Wichita. He was born Oct. 25,
1911, at Springfield, Ohio, the son of John Thomas and Blanche Aurelia
Harbor Hannah. He married
Dorothy Margaret Wilson Oct. 30, 1953, at
Jetmore. He attended Berkley High School in Michigan and received an
associate of arts degree from Barton County Community College. A resident
of Great Bend since 1953, coming from Wichita, he was an investigator for
the State of Kansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Department.
Hannah was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Great
Bend; president of Great Bend Council of Churches in 1973, a member of
Masonic Temple 15 AF&AM and York Rite Bodies, both of Great Bend; and Isis
Shrine Temple of Salina. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Tom Hannah of Florissant,
Colo.; one daughter, Katherine Souter of Kechi; one brother, Robert Hannah
of Berkley; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by an infant brother, Billy Hannah; and one sister, Donna Van
Buskirk.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. R.
Laney Kuhn officiating. The family will receive friends following the
service at the church. Memorials are suggested to Barton County Community
College Foundation, in care of Fryberger Mortuary in Great Bend.

Kenneth Dale Williams 1927-2000
LARNED - Kenneth Dale Williams, 73, died April 18 at his home. He was born
March 25, 1927, in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Kenneth Vernon and Virginia
Lucille Stanley Williams. He was a 1943 graduate of Wichita North High
School and a 1963 graduate of Air Capital Business College in Wichita. A
resident of Larned since 1978, coming from Wichita, he was a retired
custodian for St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned.
Williams was a Christian and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Larned cemetery in Larned
with the Rev. Dan Lundgren officiating. Friends may call from noon to 8
p.m. Saturday and from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned.
Memorials are suggested to Larned Emergency Medical Service, in care of the
funeral home.

Estel Arthur Zook 1912-2000
LARNED - Estel Arthur Zook, 88, died April 18 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Joseph Long Term Care in Larned. He was born Jan. 12, 1912, in
rural Pawnee County, the son of Charles Albert and Viola Cynthia Grubb
Zook. A lifetime resident of Pawnee County, he delivered LP Gas for the
Pawnee County Cooperative for several years, retiring in 1975.
Zook was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include four brothers, Charles Zook of Lakewood, Calif., Willard
Zook of Azel, Texas, Howard Zook of Rozel and Ronald Zook of Salem, Ore.;
and one sister, Hazel Deane Query of Palo Alto, Calif. He was preceded in
death by one sister, Wilma Jennings.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Valley Cemetery
south of Larned with the Rev. Rob Schmutz officiating. Friends may call
until 8 p.m. today at Morell Funeral Home in Larned. Memorials are
suggested to American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
