Dolores Marie DuBois-Parmele 1934-2000
WICHITA - Dolores Marie DuBois-Parmele, 65, died March 5 at Wichita. She
was born Aug. 8, 1934, at Great Bend, the daughter of Rice Ernest and Verda
Jewel Gentry Coffee. She married
Bob Parmele Jan. 8, 1993. A resident of
Wichita, coming from Great Bend, she was retired from JC Penney, having
been a sales clerk.
Mrs. DuBois-Parmele was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Craig DuBois of
Wichita; one daughter, Jeanamarie Schuster of Park City; one brother,
DeVerna Coffee of Coolidge, Ariz.; and four sisters, Carmetta Lollar of
Derby, Helen Walker of Colfax, Opal Wehnes of Yucapia, Calif., and Yvonne
Sherwood of Los Alamitos, Calif.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Smith Mortuary in Derby. Burial will
be at El Paso cemetery in Derby. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 pm.
Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to
Hospice Inc., in care of the funeral home.

Jack Cornwell 1921-2000
ST. JOHN - Jack Cornwell, 78, died March 4 at Stafford District Hospital
in Stafford. He was born Nov. 19, 1921, at St. John, the son of Courtney
and Naomi Koelsch Cornwell. He married
June Breckenridge June 6, 1948, at
rural Woodston. He was a 1939 graduate of St. John High School and a 1943
graduate of Kansas State University, earning a degree in animal husbandry.
A lifetime resident of St. John, he was a farmer and stockman.
Cornwell was a member of United Methodist Church of St. John, Kansas
Livestock Association, past president of Farm Bureau of Stafford County,
past member of Dillwyn Grain and Supply Board, past board member of St.
John Hospital, past 4-H Club leader for several years and 22-year member of
USD 350 Board of Education.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Rick Cornwell and Joe
Cornwell, both of St. John; one daughter, Martha Riddell of Georgetown,
Ky.; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnis Chapel in St. John with
the Rev. W. Harlan Rittgers officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Park
Cemetery in St. John. Friends may call until 7 tonight at the chapel. The
casket will remain closed. Memorials are suggested to Youthville or donor's
choice, both in care of the funeral home.

Henry Schneider 1910-2000
LA CROSSE - Henry Schneider, 90, died March 5 at Rush County Nursing Home
in La Crosse. He was born Feb. 5, 1910, at Schaffer, the son of Jacob and
Elizabeth Schaffer Schneider. He married
Helen Ilene Appel Nov. 7, 1937, at
Otis. She preceded him in death March 31, 1999. A lifetime resident of Rush
County, he was a farmer and stockman.
Schneider was a member of First Lutheran Church of La Crosse.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Schneider of La Crosse and Eldon
Schneider of Overland Park; two daughters, Donna Luft of Bison and Emma
Curnette of Garden City; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Maurice
Schaus officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran cemetery in Otis.
Friends may call from 2-9 p.m., with hymns being sung at 7 p.m. Tuesday at
the church, and 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church. Memorials
are suggested to Rush County Hospital or the church, both in care of Great
Bend Family Mortuary in Great Bend.

Gary Dean Piland 1948-2000
Gary Dean Piland, 52, died March 4 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St.
Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born Jan. 17, 1948, at Great Bend, the
son of Albert and Margie L. Harley Piland. A lifelong resident of Great
Bend, he had worked for Kansas Department of Transportation.
Piland was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 3111 and Elks Lodge 1127. He was a Vietnam veteran.
Survivors include three brothers, Basil Piland of Great Bend, Kenneth
Piland of Las Vegas, Nev., and Troy Piland of Garden City; and one sister,
Claudia Biles of Heizer. He was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda
Conaway.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Revs. Gary W.
Teske and Arlo Lehmann officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery
in Great Bend. Friends may call until 9 tonight at Bryant-Christians
Funeral Home in Great Bend and from 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the
church. Memorials are suggested to the church or Leukemia Foundation, both
in care of the funeral home.

Ned R. Darr 1913-2000
Ned R. Darr, 86, died March 5 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Joseph
Campus in Larned. He was born June 2, 1913, at Herington, the son of
Charles A. and Abbie Lillian Welch Darr. He married
Adeline Grace Feldman
Feb. 25, 1934, in Great Bend. She died June 13, 1996. A resident of Great
Bend since 1933, he owned and operated Darr Aerial Spraying in Great Bend.
Darr was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, having served during World War II.
He had been a U.S. Airforce instructor.
Survivors include one son, Ned Darr of Edmonds, Wash.; two daughters, Carla
Anne Hooks of Santa Maria, Calif., and Dana Adel Darr of Great Bend; three
sisters, Edith Milberger of Auburn, Wash., Edaree Campbell of Dodge City
and Sharon Rae Jones of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren; and
seven great-grandchildren.
Inurnment services will be announced by Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in
Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to donor's choice, in care of the
funeral home.

Clifford A. Link 1925-2000
CHASE - Clifford A. Link, 74, died March 2 at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born Nov. 6, 1925, the son of
Louis C. and Bertha M. Gregory Link. He married
Haroldeen Worswick on June
14, 1952 at Bushton. A lifelong Rice County resident, he was a retired
farmer.
Link was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lincoln Township Board,
life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, past member of
USD 401 Board of Education, Chase Co-op Board, St. Mary's church committee,
and a graduate of Chase High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World
War II, having served in the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Brad of Wichita and
Malcolm of Chase; one daughter, Angie Deckert of Wichita; two brothers,
Vincent Link of Aurora and Kenneth of Great Bend; one sister, Teresa Owens
of Brookfield, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
Rosary will be at 7 tonight at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Funeral
will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Joseph Slomski
officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Chase.
Friends may call from 1-8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials are
suggested to the church cemetery or American Lung Association, in care of
the funeral home.

Edgar J. Schmidt 1918-2000
WAKEENEY - Edgar J. Schmidt, 81, died March 3 at Trego Lemke Memorial
Hospital Long Term Care Unit in WaKeeney. He was born May 13, 1918, at
Catherine, the son of John J. and Anna Marie Schuetz Schmidt. He married
Mary F. Flax on Aug. 22, 1944, at Catherine. A resident of WaKeeney since
1953, he was a farmer.
Schmidt was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in WaKeeney, and
National Farmers Union.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, E. Dwayne Schmidt of
WaKeeney and Delwyn Schmidt of Bennington; two daughters, Marylin Schneider
and Marla Pfannenstiel, both of WaKeeney; one brother, Harold Schmidt of
Great Bend; three sisters, Laurita Karlin of Hays, Clara Schmidt and
Florene Froelich, both of Victoria; 10 grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Norbert
Schmidt, Francis Schmidt, William Schmidt, Robert Schmidt and infant Edgar
Schmidt; and three sisters, Alexia Sander, Angela Rohr and infant Mary
Schmidt.
Wake service is at 7 tonight Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney. Funeral
will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Donald F.
Pfannenstiel officiating. Burial will be at Christ the King Catholic
Cemetery in WaKeeney. Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. today at the funeral
home. Memorials are suggested to Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term
Care Unite or to the church.

Mabel L. Carter 1907-2000
GAYLORD, MICH. - Mabel L. Carter, 92, of Gaylord, Mich., died Feb. 19 at
Benson House in Johannesburg, Mich. She was born Sept. 7, 1907, at Rogers,
Ark. She married
John H. Carter, who preceded her in death. She was a
resident of the Gaylord area in 1995, coming from Springdale, Ark.
Survivors include one son, Frank of Kaneohe, Hawaii; one daughter, Janet
Reed of Gaylord Mich., who passed away shortly after her mother; four
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services were Feb. 26 at Benton County Memorial Gardens in
Rogers, Ark. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Michigan, in care of
Nelson Funeral Home, 135 N. Center, Gaylord, Mich., 49735.

Janet M. Reed 1928-2000
GAYLORD, MICH. - Janet M. Reed, 71, died Feb. 20 at her home. She was born
Aug. 15, 1928, at Maud, Okla., the daughter of John H. and Mabel L.
Carter. She married
Robert "R.J." Reed Jr. He died in 1976. A resident of
the Gaylord area since 1970, she was employed by Advance Electric.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheryl Frederick Scherf of South Boardman,
Mich.; one brother, Frank Carter of Kaneohe, Hawaii; one grandson,
Frederick Robert Scherf of Alden; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral was Feb. 23 at First United Methodist Church in Gaylord with the
Rev. John Naile officiating. Interment was at Fairview cemetery in Gaylord.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Michigan, the American Lung
Association or the American Cancer Society through Nelson Funeral Home, 135
N. Center, Gaylord, Mich., 49735.
