Edwin A. "Eddie" Stremel, 72, died this morning at Central Kansas Medical
Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. Survivors and funeral arrangements
will be announced by Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend.

Earl Wayne Vick 1938-2000
MOORE, Okla. - Earl Wayne Vick, 62, died March 21. He was born Jan. 23,
1938, at Kingston, Okla., the son of Earl and Ludie Beth Vick. A resident
of Moore, coming from Ponca City, Okla., and Oklahoma City, Okla., he had
taught school in Ponca City and was retired from Rainbo Baking Company.
Survivors include his wife Judy Vick of the home; two sons, Robert Vick and
Jason Thomas, both of Moore; two daughters, Sabrena Vick and Kathryn
Schein, both of Moore; stepmother, Ciddy Vick of Great Bend; one sister,
Betty Willoughby of Oklahoma City; one stepbrother, Greg Vick of
Farmington, N.M.; and two stepsisters, Donna Gales of Ellinwood and Kathy
Ellis of Midwest City, Okla. He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry
Thomas, and a granddaughter, Jennah Hayes.
Funeral was held March 23 at Easter Avenue Baptist Church in Moore.

Ben Fritzemeyer 1903-2000
STAFFORD - Ben Fritzemeyer, 96, died March 29 at Stafford District
Hospital in Stafford. He was born Oct. 17, 1903, at Stafford, the son of
Henry and Mary Priess Fritzemeyer. He married
Gertrude Shaft April 1933, at
Hutchinson. He was a 1928 graduate of Emporia State Teachers College. A
lifetime resident of Stafford, he was an accountant and farmer.
Fritzemeyer was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Stafford.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Joe Fritzemeyer of
Stafford and Ray Fritzemeyer of Wichita; one daughter, Irma Ethridge of
Glasco; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
and five stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at
Stafford cemetery in Stafford. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. at Minnis
Chapel in Stafford. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the
funeral home.

Byron 'Butch' Basye 1960-2000
STAFFORD - Byron "Butch" Basye, 39, died March 27 at Stafford. He was born
Oct. 13, 1960, the son of Marvin and Eunice Brack Basye. He married
Janeen
Lohrenz Aug. 10, 1984, at Sylvia. He was a 1979 graduate of Stafford High
School. A lifetime resident of Stafford, he was owner of Basye Well
Servicing.
Basye attended the Methodist Church in Stafford and was a member of AESC.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Calvin Basye of the home;
two daughters, Jennifer Basye of Stafford and Stephanie Basye of the home;
his father and stepmother, Marvin and Pam Basye of Stafford; his mother and
stepfather, Eunice and Melvin Dreher of Great Bend; grandmother, Velma
Basye of Sylvia; two sisters, Kim Hessman of Newton and Gina Gould of
Cheney; one stepbrother, Aaron King of Nickerson; and two stepsisters, Amy
Harris of Stafford and April Green of Nickerson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Kasey Crosby
officiating. Burial will be at Stafford cemetery in Stafford. Friends may
call until 7 tonight at Minnis Chapel in Stafford. Memorials are suggested
to the church, in care of the funeral home.

William Felix Belanger 1926-2000
William Felix Belanger, 74, died March 27 at Great Bend. He was born Feb.
24, 1926, the son of Felix and Florence Alfoncine Baker Belanger. A long
time resident of Great Bend, he was a blackjack dealer and chef in Las
Vegas, Nev.
Belanger was a member of the Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include two sisters, Marie Ruiter of Barstow, Calif., and Connie
Creel of Sun City, Calif. He was preceded in death by three brothers,
Leonard Belanger, Louis Belanger and Joseph Belanger; and two sisters,
Katherine Osbourn and Lee Temple.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Golden Belt cemetery in
Great Bend with the Rev. Charles Mazouch officiating. Friends may call
until 5 tonight and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Fryberger Mortuary in
Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to the William Belanger memorial fund,
in care of the funeral home.

Virginia J. Russell 1924-2000
Virginia J. Russell, 76, died March 22 at her home. She was born March 4,
1924, at Seward, the daughter of Kibble J. and Frances Christina Hamilton
Brown. A resident of Great Bend, she was a teletype operator for Western
Union.
She was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include two brothers, Andrew J. Brown of Salinas, Calif., and
Ernest R. Brown of Olympia, Wash.
Inurnment will be in California. There will be no visitation. Great Bend
Family Mortuary and Crematory in Great Bend is in charge of arrangements.

William Bellanger 1926-2000
William Bellanger, 74, died March 27 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St.
Rose Campus in Great Bend. Survivors and funeral arrangements will be

Rita Estella Roach 1906-2000
LARNED - In the March 27 obituary of Rita Estella Roach, 94, who died
March 24, a surviving sister's name was misspelled. She is survived by
sister, Clara Irene Blackwell of Larned.

Mary D. Dinkel 1909-2000
RUSSELL - Mary D. Dinkel, 90, died March 26 at Russell Regional Hospital
in Russell. She was born Sept. 12, 1909, at Walker, the daughter of John
and Anna Mary Brungardt Mermis. She married
Edmund J. Dinkel May 29, 1928,
at Victoria. He died Dec. 9, 1993. A resident of Russell, coming from the
Walker area, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Dinkel was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Russell and
Daughters of Isabella at Gorham.
Survivors include one son, Loren Dinkel; one daughter, Mary Nowak of
Russell; two half brothers, Robert Mermis of Salina and John Mermis of
California; four half sisters, Irene Berens of Quinter, Celesta Vonfeldt of
Albert, Remegia Quint of Denver, Colo., and Joan Vonfeldt of Victoria; 10
grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one
son, Gerald Dinkel; three infant children; brothers, Alfred Mermis and
Edmund Mermis; one half brother, Clarence Mermis; two sisters, Matilda Rome
and Ann Koerner.
Parish vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday with a Daughters of Isabella rosary
to follow at Pohlman's Mortuary in Russell. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Charles Steier officiating. Burial
will be at the church cemetery in Gorham. Friends may call until 9 tonight
at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church or Russell
Regional Hospital, both in care of the funeral home.
