Martha E. Zindler
De Soto - Memorial services for Martha E. Zindler, 91, De Soto, were Tuesday, May 19, at Hillside Village. She was born July 16, 1916, in New Castle, Ind., the second of five daughters of Chester & Ruth Gold. She resided in St. Joseph, Mich., for 84 years before moving to Hillside Village, De Soto.
She married
Charles Zindler in 1938, who preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by a daughter, Charlene Zindler of St. Joseph, and a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Zindler, of De Soto, two grand children, and 2 great grand children.
Memorials can be made to the Hillside Village Activities Department.
Ruel E. Rousselo
1919 - 2008
Funeral services for Ruel Edmond "Sheny" Rousselo, 88, Gardner, were Wednesday, April 30, at Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe.
Mr. Rousselo died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Royal Terrace Nursing Home in Olathe.
He was born May 18, 1919, in Edgerton, the son of Alfred and Daisy Waddel Rousselo. He graduated from Edgerton High School in 1937.
Mr. Rousselo served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He worked as a mechanic and millwright. He was a maintenance supervisor for Hercules Ammunition Plant in De Soto and retired in 1982 after 31 years. He and his wife were sponsors for Teen Town in late 1950s and early 1960s.
He was a member of Edgerton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and building things, including a motorized buggy for the Roy Bruce family. He enjoyed cruising around town on his yellow Mr. Rousselo married
Margaret Lucy Hoyle on Jan. 17, 1942, in Olathe. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Hendrix, Gardner, Sharon Alsdurf, Collinsville, Okla., and Linda Turner, St. George; a son, Harold J. Rousselo, Claremore, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and three grandchildren.

Ruby Francis Arnold
1931 - 2008
Graveside services for Ruby Francis Arnold, 77, Lawrence, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park cemetery in Lawrence.
Mrs. Arnold died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Olathe Medical Center.
She was born April 8, 1931, in Polo, Mo., the daughter of Elzie and Edith Starcher. She was a resident of Polo, Mo., Kansas City, Kan., Tonganoxie, De Soto and Lawrence.
Mrs. Arnold was a homemaker and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
She married
Joseph Arnold on Aug. 27, 1973, in Miami, Okla. He died Feb. 25, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Arnold and William Arnold; seven daughters, Evelyn Laurence, Sharon Cutburth, Cathy Purcell, Fran Bousselot, Mary Glenn, Sue Marshall and Paula Wagner; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Randy Allen Kraus
1961 - 2008
Memorial services for Randy Allen Kraus, 47, of De Soto will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner. Inurnment will follow at De Soto Cemetery. He died Sunday, Nov. 30, at the home.
Mr. Kraus was born Oct. 22, 1961, in Olathe to John Laymon and Carmon Carnell Webb Kraus. He was a lifelong De Soto resident. Mr. Allen was a self-employed drywall worker. He was a fisherman who enjoyed entering tournaments and was a member of the USA Crappie Busters.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Kraus is survived by four brothers, John “Buddy” Kraus of De Soto, Harry “Wayne” Kraus of De Soto, Donald Kraus of El Dorado Springs, Mo., and Rodney Kraus of Kansas City, Mo.; and two sisters, Louise Kraus of De Soto, and Carolyn McClanahan of Olathe.
Frances Zimmerli
1912 - 2008
Gravesides services for Frances Zimmerli, 95, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mt. Sydney cemetery in Linwood.
Mrs. Zimmerli died June 28, 2008, in Mountain Home, Ark.
She was born Sept. 2, 1912, in Ceresco, Neb. She graduated from Ceresco High School and worked in defense plants during World War II. She and her husband, John, moved to De Soto in 1946. She was a cook at De Soto High School for many years, a member of the De Soto United Methodist Church and member of the Easter Star.
Mrs. Zimmerli was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by a son, Dale Zimmerli, Columbia Falls, Minn.; and two daughters, Donna Alman, Mountain Home, Ark., and Carol Jackson, Overland Park.
Virginia R. White
1928 - 2007
Funeral services for Virginia Ruth White, 79, Lansing, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth. Burial will follow in Glenwood cemetery in Basehor.
Mrs. White died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at her home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1928, in Elgin, the daughter of Robert Oscar and Ruth Isabel King Powell.
Mrs. White became a member of Eastern Star Lansing Graham Chapter 395 in 1953 and was past matron of Graham Chapter 395 and De Soto 78. She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and past president of the Kansas Rebekah Lodge.
She married
Edward White on Dec. 8, 1946. He died in 2003.
Mrs. White was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas White.
Survivors include two sons, Robert E. White, Leavenworth, and James F. White, Baldwin City; a brother, Wayne Powell; a sister, Betty Kujawski; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Mary Lou Simmons
1932 - 2007
Services for Mary Lou Simmons, 75, De Soto, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at De Soto Baptist Church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at East Lawn cemetery in Springfield, Mo.
Mrs. Simmons died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at her home.
She was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of John Thomas and Sara Frances Melton Swearengin. She attended KC Business College and moved to De Soto in 1952.
Mrs. Simmons was an accountant/bookkeeper for WP Stark Lumber in Olathe for 34 years. She was most recently an activity leader for the assisted living organization at Hillside Village of De Soto.
She was active in her church, serving as a Sunday school teacher for all levels, a deaconess and she was a choir member. She was also a member of the American Baptist Women.
She married
Kenneth R. Simmons on June 21, 1951, in Springfield. He died in 2002.
Survivors include two sisters, Gladys Danelenko, Bakersfield, Calif., and Anna Lo Lathem, Springfield, Mo.
Three brothers, Dories "Jack" Swearengin, Charles William Swearengin, and John Robert Swearengin; and two sisters, Rosalie Dorothy Harris and Mildred Pauline West, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends from noon Saturday until the service.

Cynthia A. Olson
Funeral services for Cynthia Anne Olson, 66, Houston, Texas, were March 20 at Christ the King Episcopal Church of Houston.
Mrs. Olson died March 15, 2008.
She was the first school psychologist hired by De Soto USD 232 and held that position of 18 years before moving to Houston, where she worked as a school psychologist for the Houston Independent School District until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by infant twins. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Ronald Olson; son Benjamin Olson and his wife, Erin; four brothers and sisters and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Cynthia Olson Memorial Fund, care of Christ the King Episcopal Church, 15325, Houston, Texas.
Barry A. Cooper
1957 - 2007
Services for Barry Allen Cooper, 50, Council Grove, were Saturday, Dec. 15, at Council Grove United Methodist Church. Burial was in Sunny Slope cemetery in Council Grove.
Mr. Cooper died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Newman Memorial County Hospital in Emporia after a short illness.
He was born July 3, 1957, the son of Robert and Betty Cook Cooper. He attended schools in De Soto and Council Grove.
Mr. Cooper married
Debbie Adams on March 20, 1982, in Council Grove. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Matt Cooper; a daughter, Breann Cooper; a sister, Sandra Cooper, Kansas City, Mo.; six brothers, Terry Cooper, Claremore, Okla., Tim Cooper, Eudora, David Cooper, Omaha, Neb., Jeff Cooper, Kansas City, Kan., and Kirt Cooper and Ben Cooper, both of Kansas City, Mo.; his parents-in-law, Jack and Una Adams, Council Grove; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert "Randy" Cooper.
