Helen Matus, 81, Basehor, KS, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, KS.
Helen was born December 19, 1927 in Viola, KS, the daughter of John and Ella Nighswonger Johnson. She was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. She was united in marriage to Frank Matus on October 20, 1951 in Roslyn, Long Island, NY. He preceded her in death June 5, 1996. Helen worked as a secretary for the Department of Defense, Ft. Leavenworth, KS, until retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Basehor Baptist Church.
Survivors include 2 sons, David Matus, Overland Park, KS and Frank Matus, II, Kansas City, KS; 3 daughters, Peggy McAfee, Troy, IL, Karen Loomis, Kansas City, KS and Susan Matus, Basehor, KS; 1 brother, Gary Johnson, Pleasanton, KS; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Jeremy Elliott
Jeremy Eugene Elliott, 17, died Friday, April 17, 2009 of natural causes at his home.
Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday at the Tonganoxie Christian Church, Tonganoxie, KS. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Church.
Jeremy was born Feb. 18, 1992 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Rex and Lisa (Patton) Elliott. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of First Baptist Church, Leavenworth and a Junior at Tonganoxie High School. He was a member of the American Honor Society and a member of the Tonganoxie Football, Track, and Wrestling teams.
Survivors include, his parents Rex and Lisa Elliott, Easton, KS; two sisters, Ashley Elliott, of the home, Amanda Lieber, Okmulgee, OK; Paternal Grandparents, Jim and Janet McBroom, Phoenix, AZ; Maternal Grandmother, Marty Patton, Tonganoxie, a Great Aunt, Jean Clemens, Granby, MO; and adopted grandparents, Jim and Gayle Kaighin, Tonganoxie.

Charles C. Miller, Jr.
Charles C. Miller, Jr., 68, Basehor, KS, passed away Saturday April 18, 2009 at his home.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Charles was born May 28, 1940 in Holliday, KS, the son of Charles C. and Mary (Beil) Miller. He was a veteran of the US Navy, and worked as a salesman. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Miller; five brothers, Paul, Raymond, Leroy, August, and Louis; three sisters Helen, Claira, and Isabella.
Survivors include, Ex wife, Patricia Folk, Mission, KS; one son, Richard E. Miller, Kansas City, KS; one daughter, Cynthia M. Miller, Lenexa, KS; two brothers, John Miller, Basehor, and Ralph Miller, Tonganoxie; two sisters, Dorothy Kramer, Basehor, Ann Wagner, Tonganoxie; two grandchildren, Caitlin Miller, Blue Springs, MO, and Logan Miller, Lenexa, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Sharon Kelley
Sharon Kelley, 51, Kansas City, KS, formerly of Tonganoxie, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in Kansas City, KS after a motorcycle accident.
Funeral service will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, 4th and Delaware, Tonganoxie. Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lanape Cemetery, Linwood, KS.
Sharon was born March 20, 1958 in Wichita, KS, the daughter of Cecil Williams and Lorice Mintz. She was a 1976 graduate of Lansing High School. Sharon worked for Central States Emblem, Basehor, KS. If you knew Sharon, you knew her heart because she wore it on her sleeve for all to share. Wear your leather and ride your bikes.
Survivors include her fiancé, James Weaver, of the home; children, Jon Dyerson, Drexel, MO and Lori Dyerson, Leavenworth; mother, Lorice Haraughty, Rantoul; brothers, Ed Williams, Rantoul and Clark Williams, Bonner Springs; sister, Carol S. Beard, Wichita and two granddaughters.

William L. Trieb
William L. Trieb, 83, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Veterans Administration Nursing Center, Leavenworth, KS.
Funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday April 29, 2009 at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, KS. Friends may call for one hour before service time.
William was born March 27, 1926 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Otto and Sara (Scott) Trieb. He was a US Navy Veteran who served in WWII. He was a Rancher, and a maintenance worker for Rock Island Rail Road and Children’s Mercy Hospital. Robert was united in marriage on October 25, 1945 in Kansas City, KS to Darlene Trieb; she preceded him in death on October 23, 2005.
Survivors include, three sons; Gary Trieb, Kearney, MO, Tim Trieb, Bothell, WA, Steve Trieb, Tonganoxie; two daughters, Nancy Millison, Basehor, Sarah Marshall, Bonner Springs, KS; 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ann Keller
Ann Keller, 53, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at her home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, Basehor, KS.
Ann was born June 8, 1955 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of George and Dorothy McClain Chappell. She was united in marriage to Dave Keller on June 7, 1975 in Boscobel, WI. She owned and operated Chappell Hill Sewing, Tonganoxie, KS.
Survivors include her husband, Dave, of the home; three sons, Lucas, Merriam, KS, Justin and Clint Keller, both of Tonganoxie; two brothers, Tom Chappell, Fennimore, WI and Carl Chappell, Mt. Zion, WI; two sisters, Donna Young, Boscobel, WI and Ramona Pape, Dyersville, IA; one half sister, Mary Mauntz, Cedar Rapids, IA and three grandchildren.
Marilyn J. McNulty
Graveside services for Marilyn J. McNulty, 76, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maple Grove Cemetery, Tonganoxie.
Mrs. McNulty died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at her home.
She was born Dec. 16, 1932, in Argentine, the daughter of Frank and Jennie Hall Miers. She graduated from Tonganoxie Rural High School in 1950. Before retirement, she worked as an Escrow Officer for First State Bank & Trust, Tonganoxie.
She married
Ransley McNulty on July 11, 1951. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Henderson.
Survivors include a son, Tom, Lawrence; a daughter, Vicki McMullin, Tonganoxie; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie.

Richard Charles Wolfe
Richard Charles Wolfe, 57 years old, resident of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2009 at his home. He was born March 26, 1952 in Leavenworth, the son of Glenn Wolfe and Betty Cheasbro Wolfe. He was united in marriage to Judi Bowles on June 3, 1973 in Lawrence.
Richard graduated from the University of Kansas in 1978 with a Bachelor’s degree in Botany. He was owner and president of Wolfe’s Landscape & Irrigation, Inc. of Lawrence and Topeka, which he founded in 1979 and operated for 30 years. Richard was active in public policy at both the local and state level. He was instrumental in drafting Senate Bill 611 in 1994 for the state of Kansas concerning innovations in irrigation systems and regulations. Richard was a member of the Professional Lawn Care Association of Mid-America, Kansas Turf Grass Foundation, American Landscape Association, and Mid-America Green Industry Council. He was listed as an Honored Professional in the National Register’s Who’s Who In Executives and Professionals, and featured in the nationally publicized Landscape and Irrigation Magazine for his accomplishments.
He had an affinity for antiques, golf, and history of the United States. Richard was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of the American Civil War. He loved animals, especially dogs and horses.
He is survived by his wife, Judi, of the home, daughter, Tara Wolfe and partner AJ Stolfus, Olympia, WA, and daughter Laura Wolfe and husband Jeremy Hess, Lawrence, KS.
A memorial service will be held at Quisenberry Funeral Home on Friday, May 8th at 4:00pm, where friends may call one hour before. John Lillig, III
John Phillip Lillig, III, 56, Basehor, KS, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2009 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 15410 Leavenworth Rd., Basehor, KS, where friends may call one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Holy Angels Cemetery, Basehor, KS. Visitation will be held from 4:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Holy Angels Parish Hall, 15410 Leavenworth Rd., Basehor.
John was born on February 26, 1953 in Kansas City, KS, the son of John and Judy Lillig, Jr. John (Phil or J.P.) was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Ward High School and truly enjoyed coaching football for the CYO. John was united in marriage to Vicki Alfino on October 24, 1975. He was employed by the Kansas Department of Transportation for over 35 years and was a valuable inspector, working out of the Bonner Springs office. John’s love of life and outdoor activities included gardening, hunting, fishing, smoking meat and watching KU Basketball games. J.P. was very devoted to the Holy Angels cemetery Association for many years, as well as the Knights of Columbus and Parish Council.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki, of the home; two daughters, Christy Dow and Carrie Handy; one son, Shawn Lillig; his mother, Judy Lillig; one brother, Mike Lillig; one sister, Colleen Mann and five grandchildren.

Betty L. Stephenson
Betty L. Stephenson, 81, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away, Saturday May 16, 2009 at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center.
Funeral service will be 11 am Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Tonganoxie United Methodist Church.
Betty was born January 31, 1928, the daughter of Myril and Lila (Eliff) Irick. She worked for Hartzfelds department store, Kansas City, MO, and Franklin Creamery, Tonganoxie, and retired after 31 years as a teller for First State Bank and Trust, Tonganoxie. She was a member of the Tonganoxie United Methodist Church, U.M.W., Chapter HS, P.E.O., Parental Study Club, TLC Club and Ladies Bridge Club, all of Tonganoxie. She was united in marriage to William J. Stephenson, Jr. on May 28, 1950 in Tonganoxie, KS. He preceded her in death, as well as a brother, James Irick and her sister and brother in law, Juanita and Carl Walters.
Survivors include; one son, R.J. and wife, Karen Stephenson, Tonganoxie; two daughters, Sheri and husband, Charles Ussery, Tonganoxie, and Martha and husband, Robert Schiltz, Tonganoxie; one sister, Reva Irick, Lawrence, KS; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
