George Ikerd
George Ikerd, 81, Kansas City, KS, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2008 at his home.
Funeral service will be 11 am Friday December 26, 2008 at the West Haven Baptist Church, Tonganoxie. The family will receive friends for one hour before service time.
George was born October 29, 1927 in Gassaway, LA, the son of Charlie and Margaret (Williams) Ikerd. George worked as a concrete finisher and was a member of Cross Roads Church, Mission, KS. He was united in marriage June 19, 1998 in Kansas City, KS to Shirley Bell, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include; one son, Robert Ikerd, KC, MO, one stepson, Manuel George, Raytown, MO; four step-daughters, Mary Martin, Denver, CO, Clara Williams, and Yvonne Carter, both of Omaha, NE, and Venita Evans, KC, KS; and one brother, Esau Washington, KC, KS.
Lydia F. Woods
Lydia F. Woods, 74, Tonganoxie, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at her home.
Funeral service for Lydia will be 10 am Monday, December 15, 2008 at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. The family will receive friends for one hour before service time. Burial will follow in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.
Lydia was born April 25, 1934 in Ft. Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Althea (Tollman) Arnold. She was united in marriage on June 4, 1953 in Mountain Home, Arkansas to James R. Woods who survives of the home. Mrs. Woods was a homemaker and a farm wife.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert Woods, Tonganoxie, and Michael Woods, Lenexa; two brothers, Fred and Jess Arnold, both of Ft. Madison, Iowa; two sisters Naomi Hansen, Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Debbie Petty, Ft, Madison, Iowa, five grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

M. Ruth Sigman
M. Ruth Sigman, 93, DeSoto, KS, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2009 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Basehor, KS. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, Basehor.
Ruth was born March 22, 1915 in Leavenworth County, KS, the daughter of Michael and Mary Wenzel Kelly. She was united in marriage to Jack Emmett Sigman on July 19, 1941. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1974. Ruth was a beautician for 73 years and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, KS.
Survivors include her son, John Kelly (Sharon K.) Sigman, Shawnee; daughter, Kathleen (Larry) Garvin, Kennewick, WA; sister, Cecilia McDermott, Shawnee; 3 grandchildren, Shawn M. (Tina) Sigman, Cynthia M. Sigman and David B. Anderson; and 2 great granddaughters, Katie and Breanna Sigman.

Phil E. Standish
Phil E. Standish, 56, Tonganoxie, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at his home.
Funeral service will be 1 pm Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. Burial will follow in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.
Phil was born July 12, 1952 in Kansas City, KS the son of Paul and Stella (DeMaranville) Standish. He was a member of the Pipefitters Local #533 Kansas City, MO.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Renee (Koons) Standish; two sons, Pete Standish, Kansas City, KS, Trevor Standish, Bonner Springs, KS; his mother, Stella Standish, Basehor, KS; two sisters, Alice Clark, Olathe, KS, Jackie Brunker, Basehor, KS; and five grandchildren.

Robert H. Gravatt
Robert H. Gravatt, 83, Basehor, KS, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Basehor, KS. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church, where the Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, Basehor, KS.
Robert was born October 18, 1925 in Lenexa, KS, the son of Homer and Leona Mollett Gravatt. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage to Edith Winterscheidt on October 29, 1949 in Kansas City, KS. Robert was a machinist for Sealright Packaging Company and Owens-Corning Corp., both of Kansas City, KS. He was a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church, Basehor.
Survivors include his wife, Edith, of the home; one son, Robert H. Gravatt, Jr., Tonganoxie; four daughters, Roberta Brown, Kansas City, Gail Willits, Fayatteville, AR, Marian Pant, Basehor and Anita Hay, Huntington, WV; two sisters, Evelyn Cook, Lee’s Summit, MO and Shirley Suman, Kansas City, MO; 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Robert Gene Whitehouse
Robert Gene Whitehouse, 76, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at his home.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
Mr. Whitehouse was born February 16, 1932 in Chillicothe, Ohio, the son of Brown H. and Marie L. Herholtz Whitehouse. He served in the Korean War with the US Air Force. He was united in marriage to Peggy Evans on November 23, 1955 in Portsmouth, Ohio. Mr. Whitehouse retired as a Senior Lieutenant for the US Federal Correctional Institution, Sandstone, MN. He was a member of the Community Christian Church and Masonic Lodge, Sandstone, Minnesota and the American Legion, Hardy, Arkansas.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy, of the home; son, Robert M. Whitehouse, Ozawkie; daughter, Teri Jane Povenmire, Kansas City; brother, Brown H. Whitehouse, Jr., Raleigh, NC; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Robert “Bob” William Eberth
Robert “Bob” William Eberth, 83, Basehor, KS, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Kansas City Hospice House following an extended illness of cancer. During his lifetime he was surrounded by his adoring family and many wonderful friends. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation for Robert “Bob” Eberth, 83, a lifetime resident of Basehor, KS, will be held on Friday, January 23, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Quisenberry Funeral Home, 4th and Delaware, Tonganoxie, KS. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, 14308 Fairmount Road, Basehor, KS. His body will be laid to rest at Mt. Muncie cemetery in Lansing, KS.
Bob Eberth was born on June 22, 1925 in Basehor, the son of Edward G. Eberth, Sr. and Margaret Emma (Norden) Eberth. He was a devoted father, grandfather and was a member of the Lutheran Church his entire life. He had great faith and was devoted to the Lord. Farming was his livelihood and his passion, along with being an avid lover of Belgian Draft horses and mules; in particular his beloved Mule named “Bosco”, antique tractors and bulldozers.
Those who preceded him in death are his parents, three brothers and one sister. Those left to honor his memory include his three daughters; Susan Martley and husband Lloyd, Basehor, KS; Sharon Sutton and fiancé, Jim Ferri, Olathe, KS; and Karen Kourany and husband, Oscar, Lenexa, KS and five grandsons; Adam, Alex, Jordan, Ryan and Devin. His companion and best friend, Dorothy Kovac; brother, Floyd Eberth; numerous nieces and nephews and many great friends also survive him.

John T. Holloway
John T. Holloway, 67, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009 at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Fairmount United Methodist Church, Basehor, KS. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, KS.
John was born April 8, 1941 in Lincoln, Missouri, the son of Kenneth and Anna Mothersbaugh Holloway. He was united in marriage to Nancy Oswald on September 15, 1962 in Kansas City, KS. He was a truck driver for Havens Construction Co., Liberty, MO.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Holloway, of the home; his son, Kyle Hayward, Basehor, KS; his daughter, Michalene Snead, Cluster Springs, VA and 4 grandchildren.

Gene Edwin Slusser
Gene Edwin Slusser, 73, Kansas City, KS, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009 at his home after battling Alzheimer’s disease for several years.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday January 27 at the Parkway Baptist Church, 12320 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, KS. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. A second funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 28 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 SW Gage Bldv., Topeka, KS. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka, KS.
Gene was born on June 1, 1935 in Osage City, KS, the son of Orville and Myra Morray Slusser. He was a 1954 graduate of Washburn Rural High School. Gene was united in marriage to Nellie May Johnston on June 19, 1955 in Topeka. He was a farmer and owned American Auto Service, Topeka, KS, for thirty years. He was a volunteer for the Shawnee County Sheriffs Department and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Topeka. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Slusser.
He was a wonderful husband and father who always put the Lord and his family first. He served faithfully throughout his life at First Southern Baptist Church in Topeka. He believed in evangelism and went on many mission trips, three to other countries. He worked with youth and two year olds, served as chairman of Deacons, as well as serving on three building committees and most other church positions.
Gene also served as a board member and president of Shawnee County Farm Bureau and made several trips to lobby on the behalf of farmers.
Gene and Nellie provided a temporary home, guidance and loving support to twenty-three young men in addition to raising their two girls.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Slusser, of the home; two daughters, Dr. Joyce Geneine Slusser, Kansas City and Gayla Christine Slusser, Topeka and two brothers, Gordon and Duane Slusser, both of Topeka.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Kansas City Hospice for their assistance and support during his final days.

Nadine Fern Hoegler
Nadine Fern Hoegler, 78, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.

Nadine was born November 22, 1930 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Henry and Fern Morton Swallow. She was united in marriage to Frank Richard Hoegler. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1983. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Riford Senior Citizen Center, Tonganoxie.
Survivors include four sons, Paul, Parkville, MO, Jerry, Bonner Springs, Duce and Tom Hoegler, both of Kansas City, KS; daughter, Tina Coleman, Tonganoxie; sister, Bonnie Wilson and 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
