Clayton (Bill) Hemphill, 96, Tonganoxie, Formerly of Linwood, KS, passed away Saturday March 25, 2006 at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center.
Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, March 30 at the Quisenberry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Reno Cemetery, Reno, KS. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, March 29 at the Quisenberry Chapel.
Bill was born July 3, 1909, in Linwood, KS, the son of Crosby, and Elizabeth (Kellsal) Hemphill. Bill was a farmer and volunteered for “Meals On Wheel’s” at the Riford Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include two sons, Jack C. Hemphill, Topeka, KS, and Robert C. Hemphill, Linwood, KS; one daughter, Linda Hemphill, Tonganoxie, KS; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Joice Elizabeth Freeman
Joice Elizabeth Freeman, 44, Multrie, GA, formerly of Bonner Springs, KS, died Saturday, March 18, 2006 in a motorcycle accident in Tifton, GA.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2006 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Joice was born September 12, 1961 in Lawrence, KS the daughter of Lewis Dale and Marjorie Louise (Marvin) Freeman. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her mother, Marjorie Freeman, Tonganoxie; son, Nickolas Leipard, Bonner Springs, KS; two daughters, Jessica and husband, Jonathan Losier and Felisha Leipard, all of Bonner Springs, KS; three brothers, Cecil Freeman, Spring Hill, KS, Dale Freeman, Brick, NJ and Clifford, Bonner Springs, KS; half-sister, Nancy Drake, Salina, KS and grand-daughter, Trinity.

Lucille Riley, 70, Leavenworth, KS passed away Saturday, March 18, 2006 at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.
Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, KS. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Lucille was born October 31, 1935 in Dora, MO, the daughter of Lawrence and Nora (Driskell) Cearley. She was a homemaker. On July 28, 1960, she was united in marriage to Paul Riley in Ava, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Eugene Cearley.
Survivors include her husband, Paul, of the home; son, David, McLouth, KS; 4 daughters, Judy Clark, Kathy Price, Sherri Edwards and Linda Graf, all of Leavenworth, KS; brother, Darrell Cearley, Magdalena, NM; sister, Louise Cearley, Dora, MO and 10 grandchildren.
Catherine Mary Curtis
Catherine Mary Curtis, 92, Tonganoxie, KS passed away Friday, March 17, 2006 in Perry, KS.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie, KS. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS, where the Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, Basehor, KS.
Catherine was born on September 16, 1913 in Bonner Springs, KS, the daughter of Matthew and Katherine Anna (Dewitt) Elmer. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie, KS. Mrs. Curtis was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Curtis in 1966.
Survivors include one son, Mike Curtis, Burlingame, KS; four daughters, Carol Hagan, Eudora, KS, Jeanine Blanck, Perry, KS, Barbara Kramer, Tonganoxie, KS and Mitzie Gimblet, Lawrence, KS; 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Jane Michelle Kindle
Jane Michelle Kindle, 23, Basehor, KS passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.
Private funeral services will be held Friday. Burial will be in Kickapoo Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the United Methodist Church, Basehor, KS.
Jane was born March 3, 1983, the daughter of Forrest and Donna (Mueller) Kindle. She was a 2001 graduate of Basehor High School and a 2005 graduate of Washburn University School of Nursing, Topeka, KS, where she was Treasurer for SNOW, a student nursing organization. She worked as a Registered Nurse for Shawnee Mission Medical Center and was a member of the Basehor United Methodist Church. She was proceeded in death by her father, Forrest T. Kindle.
Survivors include her mother, Donna J. Kindle, Basehor, KS and two sisters, her twin, Lara Kindle, Basehor, KS and Cynthia Ferguson, Climax Springs, MO.

Lester W. Shoemaker
Lester W. Shoemaker, 93, Tonganoxie, KS died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at his home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2006 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie, KS. Friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Lester was born November 20, 1912 in Pomona, KS, the son of Jesse and Ora (Fishburn) Shoemaker. He was a WW II Army Air Corp veteran and a member of V.F.W. Post 9271, Tonganoxie, KS. He had been a board member of Leavenworth County Soil Conservation Board and Rural Water District #9. He was a farmer. On December 28, 1943 he was united in marriage to Mildred Lee in Salt Lake City, UT. She preceded him in death July 11, 2005.
He is survived by two sons, Kenny W. and wife, Jonna Shoemaker and David L. and wife, Georgette Shoemaker, all of Tonganoxie, KS; two sisters, Ellen and Alma James, Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Laura M. Vining
Laura M. Vining, 73, Kansas City, KS, died April 26, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, MO, surrounded by her family.
A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Kansas City, KS. Cremation and private inurnment will follow.
Laura was born February 26, 1933 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Hearst and Marion (Bowie) Pressly. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority at Denver University. She was united in marriage August 22, 1952 in Denver, Colorado to Charles E. Vining. Laura was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, KC, KS. She was a secretary for Kansas City Kansas Community College and Trinity United Methodist Church. She also owned her own knitting shop, Busy Needles. She enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and cross stitching, making many items to be treasured by friends and family.
Survivors include her husband, Charles, of the home; two sons, Tim, Kansas City, KS and Jim, Half Moon Bay, CA; one daughter, Jayne Yunghans, Olathe, KS; one brother, Bud Pressly, Longmont, CO; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Edna E. Morgan, 94, Tonganoxie, KS died Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Tonganoxie Nursing Center.
Graveside services will be 11 am Monday, May 15, 2006 at Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, KS.
Mrs. Morgan was born June 20, 1911 in Quincy, KS the daughter of Pat and Edith (Schwint) Ditty. She worked for the University of Kansas, Lawrence from 1968 to 1977 as a cook and custodian. On June 18, 1936 she was united in marriage to William Lee Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband, and two sons, Donald and Larry.
She is survived by a son, Duane L., Paola, KS; daughter, Rita K. Lovell, Tonganoxie; two sisters, Bev Ditty and Mary Robison, both of Virgil, KS and one granddaughter, Cindy Hontz.

Robert E. (Bud) Gress, Jr., 93, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Monday, May 15, 2006 at Pioneer Ridge Assisted Living Center, Lawrence, KS.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Tonganoxie. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Bud was born March 7, 1913 in Tonganoxie, the son of Robert E., Sr. and Myrtle (Derbshire) Gress. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Tonganoxie. He was a grocer in McLouth and Tonganoxie, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellwyn (Ratliff) Gress, December 31, 1973.
Survivors include his son, John R. and wife, Cindy Gress, Lawrence, KS; 4 four grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Frank L. Bateson
Frank L. Bateson, 76, Basehor, KS died Monday, May 22, 2006 at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Basehor, where friends may call one hour before service.
Frank was born March 26, 1930 in Lawrence, KS, the son of Benjamin and Ruth (Dawson) Bateson. He was Korean War veteran and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. He retired as a welder and mechanic for Scherer Truck Equipment Co., Parkville, MO. On April 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Rose Fantasia in Watertown, MA. She survives of the home.

William Joseph Hardisty
William Joseph Hardisty, 59, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie, KS. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, KS. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, where Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
Bill was born December 28, 1946 in Maryville, MO, the son of John and Amelia (Wiederholt) Hardisty. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1968 and was a member of the American Legion Post 407. He was also a member of Cement Mason’s Local 518 for over 30 years. He married
Barbara Ann Cooper on September 7, 1968 in Kansas City, KS.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; one son, Matthew Hardisty, Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Shellie Hardisty, Tonganoxie, and Lori Simmons and her husband, Patrick, Raytown, MO; and two grandsons, Russell and Ryan.
Bill is deeply loved by his large extended family and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Naomi Ruth Warden
Naomi Ruth Warden, 94, Tonganoxie, KS passed away Monday June 5, 2006 at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center, Tonganoxie, KS.
She was born January 5, 1912 in Wheatland, Missouri, the oldest daughter of Marion Lester and Josie Myrtle (Campbell) Farris. On March 1, 1935 she married
Richard Clinton Warden. They resided in Basehor, KS.
Naomi was preceded in death by her husband in 1997 and three sisters, Anna Miller, Sylvia Morgan, Elvie Warmbrodt and a brother M.L. (Bud) Farris.
Naomi is survived by two daughters, Darlene Peterson and husband Charles of Basehor, KS and Medeana Knipp and husband Larry of Tonganoxie, KS; three sisters, Elizabeth Reiss and husband Jake, Olathe, KS, Delta Edwards and husband Bob, Kansas City, MO and Virginia Brigman, Everett, Washington; 9 grandsons and 19 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday June 8, 2006 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS, with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, KS. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
