RUSSELL E. DEAN

Russell E. Dean, 81, Lenexa, KS, went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 28, 2005 surrounded by his loving family in the home that he shared with his wife of 52 years, Jacqueline Dean. Russ, as he was fondly known by all, who knew and loved him, passed away at home peacefully after a brave and gallant battle with a very long and taxing illness.

Russell was born on August 3, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri to John M. and Jane (Taylor) Dean. Russ was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran where he proudly served his country on the USS South Dakota and the USS Washington as a Yeoman 2nd Class and Chaplain’s Aid.

Russ moved his family from St. Louis in 1959 to work for Gould Battery and in 1965 fulfilled his dream by owning and operating Midwest Battery. He had the time of his life working side by side with his sons until his retirement in 1983.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Dean and grandson, Christopher Dean.

Russ is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; seven sons, John Dean and wife, Melissa, Merriam, KS; Michael Dean and wife, Mary, Bucyrus, KS; James Dean and wife, Candy, Olathe, KS; Thomas Dean and wife, Michelle, Fairway, KS; Robert Dean and wife, Belinda, Highland, CA; Timothy Dean and wife, Jeannine, Cape Girardeau, MO; Patrick Dean and wife, Kay, Overland Park, KS; thirteen grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Pat Gastorf, St. Louis; Margaret Huber and husband, Bill, St. Louis and many extended family and friends.

Russ was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was a man of the highest integrity. He believed in hard work, making an honest dollar and most importantly, taking care of his family. His contributions to his country, fellow man and family are treasures that will be cherished forever.

A celebration of Russ’s life will be held on February 1, 2005, 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be held Monday, January 31, 2005 from 6-8 pm at the Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa. The Rosary will be at 7:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Catholic Community Hospice of Catholic Charities. The family is extremely grateful to this wonderful and caring organization.

RUSSELL “TED” BEEBE

Ted Beebe, 66, of Gardner, KS passed away January 3rd, 2005. Memorial services will be held January 7th, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. The family requests no flowers, in lieu of flowers please make donations to Wayside Waifs.
Ted was born November 9th, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to Russell and Garnett (Keith) Beebe. He attended Shawnee Mission North High School. Ted married Norma Jean Phipps June 6th, 1959 and they made their home in Overland Park. He owned and operated Beebe’s Best Service Company a plumbing contracting firm that eventually led to his son’s company Beebe Heating and Air-conditioning which is still operating today. Ted retired in 2003. Ted enjoyed and was an avid auto racer. In the early sixties he raced at the Olympic Speedway, Holmes Road Speedway, and Riverside Speedway. In the early 70’s Ted helped his son begin his racing career. He enjoyed motorcycles and custom cars and especially loved his pets and all animals. Ted is survived by his wife; his son Rick and his wife Lori of Olathe, and his grandson Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents. (Arrangements: Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee 913-631-5566)

ROBERT A. KAKERT

Robert A. Kakert, 72, of Lenexa, KS passed away Friday, Jan 28, 2005 at St. Joseph Medical Center. Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005 at the Amos Chapel of Shawnee from 3-5 PM. A visitation will be held Tue. Feb. 1, 2005 at Runge Funeral Home from 10-12 PM. Graveside services following at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, IA. Family suggests memorial contribution be given to the American Cancer Society.
Robert was born Oct. 18, 1932 to Clarence and Hilda Kakert in Davenport, IA. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Robert work for AT@T for 33 years as a Project Manager until his retirement in 1986.
Robert is survived by his wife Judy of 44 years of the home; one son, Jay, 2 nephews and 2 nieces. He is preceded in death by one son, Rob, and his sister Marilyn. (Arrangements the Amos Chapel of Shawnee 913-631-5566).

RENE HABIB HANNA

Rene Hanna, died at home in Kingston, Jamaica on Tuesday, December 21, 2004. He leaves his daughters Lisa Hanna and Ella Smith, grandsons Alexander Panton and Jamieson Smith, brothers Charles, Michael and Joe, sister Janet Suleiman, nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

Visitation at the Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa, 10113 Lenexa Dr., from 10am - 12 noon, Friday. Graveside services will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. PHILIP W. TRUE

Philip W. True, 84, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away, Thursday, January 27, 2005 at St. Joseph Health Center. Memorial services will be 3 p.m., Monday, January 31, at Prairie Baptist Church, 7416 Roe Avenue, Prairie Village, KS 66208. Visitation will be 3 – 5 p.m., Sunday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Prairie Baptist Church.
Mr. True was born in Carnegie, OK. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was a District Engineer for Southwestern Bell and retired after over 30 years of service. He had been an active member of Prairie Baptist Church since 1956 and also had served six years on the Mission City Council. He was a very creative person and enjoyed writing poetry, telling stories, wood carving, painting and painting portraits. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn M. True, of the home; a daughter, Jean Michelson and her husband, Paul, of Huntington, IN; two sons, Donald True and his wife, Judy, Austin, TX and Bill True and his wife Cheryl, Overland Park, KS; five grandchildren, David Michelson and his wife, Bethany, Oxford, England, Paul-Philip “Paco” Michelson, Huntington, IN, Megan True, Nanging, China, Emily True, Overland Park, KS and Ann True, Austin, TX; two great grandchildren, Simeon and Joel Michelson, Oxford, England and two brothers, John True, Herington, KS and Raymond True, Gladstone, MO. MARK ALAN FORD

Mark Alan Ford, 45, Shawnee, KS passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at his home. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, Jan 4, 2005, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.
Mr. Ford was born in Decatur, IL. He was an Automobile Mechanic. Mark was a past member of the Shawnee Kiwanis club, member of the National Rifle Association and Falls Church Presbyterian at Falls Church, VA. HELEN MYERS BRIGHT

Helen Myers Bright, 81, of Shawnee, KS, passed away, Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Alterra Clare Bridge in Leawood. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church with burial in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Mrs. Bright was born March 8, 1923 in Richmond, MO to Boyd Alfred and Blanche Lillian Roadcap Myers. She was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Hardin, MO High School. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. She married Charles A. Bright on January 24, 1943 and he survives at the home. Additional survivors include a daughter, Paula Anderson, of Merriam, KS; a son, Ken Bright, Olathe, KS; four grandchildren, Kimberly Marie DeLaughder, Jessica Marie Bright, Elizabeth Dianne Hayden and Nathanael David Anderson and four great grandchildren. MARY O. KEPNER

Mary O. Kepner, 90, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Tuesday, Jan 25, 2005 at John Knox Care Center, Lee’s Summit, MO. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, Jan 26, 2005 at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers family suggests contributions to Shawnee United Methodist Church.

BETTY FAYE BRIDGMAN

Betty Bridgman passed away on December 30, 2004 at her home. Private family services will be January 3, 2005 at 9 a.m., Leavenworth National Cemetery. Betty Beckett was born November 18, 1932 in New London, MO. She married Joseph Bridgman October 15th, 1953 in Hannibal, MO and he preceded her in death in 2002. They moved to the KC area in 1960 and have resided here since. Betty spent her life devoted to her family. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a generous and caring person. She is survived by her daughters Brenda Whitener of Bonner Springs, Linda Van Nieuwenhuyse of Lenexa, her son Michael Bridgman of Shawnee, and a sister Shirley Jeter of Shawnee. ANTHONY (TONY) VICTOR GRIMM

Anthony (Tony) Victor Grimm of Shawnee, KS, was born on June 22, 1937 in Kansas City, MO. He met his maker on January 24, 2005 at St. Joseph Medical Center. The wake services will be held at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee on Thursday, January 27 from 6-8 PM. Services on Friday at 1 PM at the chapel with burial at Shawnee Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1955 and was in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1964. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1964 with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He then worked for Honeywell as an Electrical Engineer for the past 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Elsie M. Grimm of Shawnee, KS; daughter, Cathleen L. Murry and her spouse Chester M. Murry of Overland Park, KS; son James A. Grimm and his spouse Melissa Grimm of Kansas City, KS; daughter Mary E. Hays and spouse Ryan Hays of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Roxanna Mainster, James Stuart, Cassandra Murry, Joshua Grimm, and Caleb Grimm. He is also survived by his mother Agnes Grimm, sister Carole Faltermeier, brothers Donald Grimm, Ronald Grimm, and Gary Grimm. Virginia A. Ketter, 78, Roeland Park, KS passed away December 29, 2004 at her home. Mass of Christian burial will be 1 PM, Monday, January 3, 2005 at St. Agnes Catholic Church Roeland Park, KS with entombment at Resurrection Mausoleum Lenexa, KS. Friends may call from 5-7 PM,. Mrs. Ketter was born August 13, 1926 in Seneca, KS to Chris and Agnes Sack. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Bill, daughter; Barbara, sisters; Rita Schulte and Eleanor Love, brother; Raymond Sack. She is survived by her daughters; Carolyn Messbarger and husband Dick. Judy Morr and husband Dan, Joan Brown and husband Ron, Sons; David Ketter and wife Jean, Jim Ketter and wife Ann. KATHRYN ROSE FRIEND ANDERSON

Kathryn Anderson, 81, Overland Park, KS passed away December 23, 2004 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, December 28 at St. Pius X Catholic Church; graveside services will be at 10 AM, Wednesday at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lawrence, NE. Friends may call from 6 -8 PM, Monday at St. Pius X. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Pius X.
Mrs. Anderson was born October 14, 1923 to Glen and Clara (Goerig) Friend in Lawrence, NE. She married Paul H. Anderson August 7, 1948. She was a personnel specialist for NASA. Both her husband’s and her names were taken and left on the moon by Neil Armstrong.

NORMA JEAN “BETTY” BAXTER

Norma Jean “Betty” Baxter, 73, Shawnee, KS passed away Mon. Jan. 24, 2005, at her home. Memorial Service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee – Cremation. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Friday at the Chapel. The family request no flowers and contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Betty was born in Kansas City, MO. She was a cook in the Shawnee Mission School District. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Baxter. Survivors include three daughters, Emma Miller of Shawnee, Glennda and her husband Jerry Sease of Columbus, OH, and Dianna Baxter of Shawnee; Four sons, Kenneth C. Baxter of Shawnee, Larry and his wife Margie Baxter of Prairie Village, KS, Michael and his wife Violet Baxter of Shawnee, KS and Russell and his wife Kay Baxter of Gibson City, IL; eighteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. JOAN BICHELMEYER GRIMM

Joan Bichelmeyer Grimm, 66, of Shawnee, passed away at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday December 22 at Lakeview Village in Lenexa. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and a patron of the arts throughout the State of Kansas.
Born March 23, 1938, in Kansas City, Kansas, she was the first of the 10 children of John F. and Mary H. (Matson) Bichelmeyer. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1956, and attended Loretto Heights Academy in Denver Colorado. Before she began her marriage and family, Joan worked as a stewardess for TransWorld Airlines.
Joan married C. Louis Grimm on December 27, 1958 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas, where they were faithful members throughout their lives.
Joan was an avid photographer and lover of music. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Resurrection Choir, a benefactor of the Ottawa Suzuki Strings and the Kansas City Youth Symphony, and supported KANU Public Radio Station in Lawrence through service and contributions. She was also co-author of the book “Country Boy, City Boy,” which was a chronicle of her father’s life.
Joan is survived by five children: Michael L. Grimm of Overland Park, Kansas; Douglas A. Grimm of San Antonio, Texas; Mary K. Grimm Dyche of Shawnee, Kansas; Andrew A. Grimm of Shawnee, Kansas; and Anne M. Grimm of Hamilton, New Zealand; and by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by eight brothers and sisters: Judith K. Sumpter of Lenexa, James N. Bichelmeyer of Shawnee, Joseph M. Bichelmeyer of Shawnee, Jerome L. Bichelmeyer of Shawnee, Jean M. Jenkins of Emporia, Jane C. Wetzel of Westwood, Mary B. Lucas of Mission Hills, and Barbara A. Bichelmeyer of Bloomington, Indiana.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, mother, and brother John G. Bichelmeyer, and her father who passed away fourteen hours before her.
A double funeral mass will be held for Joan and her father John at 10 a.m. Monday, December 27, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Shawnee. Burial will follow the funeral mass at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 26, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

JOSEPH M. WEBER

DONALD D. FLEENOR

Donald Fleenor, 78, of Overland Park passed away Wednesday January 19th, 2005 at his residence in The Atriums of Overland Park. Services will be held Saturday January 22nd, 2005 at The Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment

Will be at Silent City Cemetery, Desoto, KS following the service Saturday. The family requests donations to Old Mission United Methodist Church
Donald was born November 30th, 1926 in Scott County, KS to William and Lillian (Goertz) Fleenor. He served in the United States Merchant Marine during WWII and The US Army following the war. Donald moved to the Kansas City area in 1975 and drove for Safeway Stores until his retirement. In 1998 Donald moved with his wife Dorothy to Colorado Springs, she preceded him in death in 1999. Donald is survived by his daughters Jean Dreiling of Lawrence, KS, Elaine Moyer of Salina, KS; his sons Wayne Fleenor of Hays, KS and Lee Fleenor also of Hays. His step children James Chiga of Colorado Springs and Ann Chiga Wilson of Chicago, Ill. His sisters Emily Galyon of Phoenix, AZ and Alice Rinke of Wichita, KS; his brother Robert Fleenor of McPherson, KS. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. ALLEN RICHARD KISTNER

Allen Richard Kistner, 78 of Shawnee, KS passed away Monday, December, 20 2004 at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Center. Memorial services will be held 11 AM Thursday Dec. 23, 2004 following a visitation from 10 to 11 AM. Family suggests memorials be sent to Crosslines.
Allen was born Jan. 13, 1926 in Cleveland, OH. to Winifred and Frank Kistner. He graduated from Holy Name High School in 1944. He worked at Electric Products in Cleveland for 33 years. He was an avid bowler and once bowled a 300 game. He is survived by son Timothy and his wife Angela; stepdaughters Donna Adamowicz and her husband Kevin, Julie Ohahoske and her husband Brian, stepson Darrell Meeker and his wife Kathy, two brothers; George and Ronny Kistner. LAWRENCE H. FULGHAM

Lawrence Fulgham, 85, Louisville, MS passed away January 14, 2005 in Louisville. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 18 at Pleasant View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Jo Co 4H Dog Club College Scholarship Fund, 13480 S Arapaho Dr., Olathe, KS 66062.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Pearl (Blankenship) Fulgham, parents, Arthur and Etta (McMinn) Fulgham, step-son, Tommy Smith, sisters Edna Oswalt and Lesli Mae Gill, and brothers, Rook and Eugene Fulgham. He is survived by his daughters, Linda (David) Rayburn, and Glinda (Jim) Salyer; son, Richard (Dianne) Fulgham; step-son, Barney Smith; brother Noah Lee Fulgham; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. Scott Michael Bond, 41, Overland Park, KS passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at the St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Scott was born Oct. 15, 1963 in Kansas City, KS. He enjoyed playing chess and was once a member of the United States Chess Federation. Scott was also a member of the Shawnee Mission Baptist Temple. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Ray Bond. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Shirley and Daniel Bowers, Shawnee, KS; step-mother, Judy Bond, Roeland Park, KS; grandparents, William and Rosemary Cusintz, Neosho Rapids, KS; uncle and aunt, Henry and Betty Dahlin, Shawnee, KS and many cousins.
