Rae Janeen Papa, 48, Tonganoxie, KS, died Friday March 14, 2008 at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, KS.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday March 18, 2008 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie, KS. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday March 17, 2008 at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, 4th and Delaware, Tonganoxie, KS.

Janeen was born April 11, 1959 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Raymond and Elaine King Robinett. She was united in marriage to Ben Papa in Kansas City, KS on November 5, 1988. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie, KS.

Survivors include her husband, Ben Papa, of the home; daughter, Traci Papa, of the home; her mother, Elaine Robinett, Leavenworth, KS and brother, Cliff Robinett, Edwardsville, KS.

John Roland Dickinson

John Roland Dickinson, 76, Oskaloosa, KS (formerly of Leavenworth) died Wednesday, May 07, 2008 at Hickory Point Nursing Center, Oskaloosa, KS.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, 4th & Delaware, Tonganoxie, KS. Burial will be in Fall Creek Cemetery, Jarbalo, KS. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Quisenberry Chapel.

John was born December 27, 1931 in Kansas City, KS, the son of George and Alma (Loggans) Dickinson. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was an elementary school Principal at Leavenworth Public Schools (1960-78) and Ft. Leavenworth Schools (1978-92). He received his Bachelor of Science and Education Degree from the University of Kansas in 1959 and Master Degree of Education in 1962. On August 16, 1953, he was united in marriage to Rita Ann Slawson in Tonganoxie, KS.

He is survived by his wife, Rita, of the home; three sons, John, Jeff and Jay, all of Leavenworth, KS; two daughters, Joyce Simmons, Seymour, MO and Julie Tribble, Ft. Worth, TX; two brothers, James, El Dorado Springs, MO and Rollie, Bolivar, MO; three sisters, Ella Mae Loomis, Irving, TX, Ruth (Sis) Butler, Stockton, MO and Lucille Cramer, Stockton, MO; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

John D. Robinson

John D. Robinson, 74, Tonganoxie, KS passed away May 13, 2008 at Medical Lodge Post Acute Care Center, Kansas City, KS.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday May 19, 2008 at West Haven Baptist Church, Tonganoxie, KS. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.

John was born June 24, 1933 in Harris, Missouri, the son of Joseph and Wilma (Staats) Robinson. He grew up in Harris, MO and Kansas City, KS. He was a 1952 graduate of Wyandotte High School, Kansas City, KS. He served two years in the army during the Korean War. He was self employed as a barber in Kansas City, KS and Basehor, KS for 17 years and also worked at General Motors for 17 years, retiring in 1988. John married Donna Schmaltz on May 12, 1963, she passed away April 19, 1996. He then married Elta Fisher on October 28, 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Elta Robinson, of the home; four stepsons, Larry Schmaltz (Christine), Kansas City, KS, David Nelson (Beverly), Carbondale, IL, Roy Nelson (Vicky), Overland Park, KS, and Charles Nelson (Donna), Blairstown, N.J.; two stepdaughters, LeAnne Allbritton, Huntsville, AR; Adrea (Claude) Warren, Kansas City, KS; eighteen step grandchildren, Levi Schmaltz, Cy Schmaltz, Meridith Kitchell, Angela Belcher, Brian Nelson, Lisa Nelson, Michael Nelson, Heidi Enloe, Derick Enloe, Vivian Dyer, Ashley Short, Homer Allbritton, Jessica Nelson, Troy Millenbine, Tim Millenbine, Lisa Gerkin, Josh Nelson and Nick Nelson; two brothers, Earl Robinson, Lansing, KS and Bill Robinson (Charlotte), McLouth, KS; and many wonderful great grandchildren.

John was truly a Man of God.

Linnie Herrmann

Linnie Herrmann, 89, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, 4th and Delaware, Tonganoxie. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Sepulcher Cemetery, Gretna, Nebraska.

Linnie was born January 29, 1919 in Grofton, Nebraska, the daughter of James and Minnie Groth Boardman. She was a homemaker and had previously worked in a restaurant and for Western Electric in Omaha, NE.

Survivors include her husband, Elton Herrmann, of the home; her son, Dennis Lukowski, Tonganoxie, KS; and two daughters, Teddy Waugh, Paxton, NE and Kathy Jo Eiler, Reno, NV; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Bolkavic, Omaha, Neb.; a stepson, John Herrmann, Omaha, Neb.; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

Cecil E. Vinyard

Cecil E. Vinyard, 64, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center.

Memorial service will be 1 pm Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie, KS. A private inurnment will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.

Cecil was born January 15, 1944 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Cecil F. and Wilma S. Lasley Vinyard. He served in the U.S. Army for ten years and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a truck driver for Crouse Cartage Company and Police Officer in Tonganoxie. Cecil was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the VFW Post 9271, all of Tonganoxie and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local #41, Kansas City, MO. He was united in marriage to Sophia Wyka on August 8, 1964 in Kansas City, MO. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his son, Michael Vinyard, Tonganoxie; three daughters, Vickie Vinyard, Pam Turner and Lisa Vinyard, all of Tonganoxie; brother, Bill Sams, Sedalia, MO; sister, JoAnn Cannon; 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

Mary Lou Selby

Mary Lou Selby, 85, Tonganoxie, KS died Friday, May 23, 2008 at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Quisenberry Chapel, Tonganoxie, KS. Burial will be in Mt. Sidney Cemetery, Linwood, KS.

Mrs. Selby was born March 13, 1923 in Tonganoxie, KS. She was a homemaker and nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Eugene Selby III, June 5, 1994.

Survivors include her son, Norman E. Selby IV; seven daughters, Mary Louise McMillan, of CO, Norma Gene Madigan, Roeland Park, KS, Marion Laverne Baker, Sacramento, CA, Victoria Sue Bichelmeyer, Tonganoxie, KS, Michelle Selby, Leawood, KS, Tomorah Gail Selby, Sacremento, CA and Stephanie Cay Fansler, Laguna Beach, CA; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Josephine A. (Martel) Foley

Josephine A. (Martel) Foley, 84, Kansas City, KS, was called Home by her Heavenly Father Tuesday, May 20, 2008.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2008 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Basehor, KS. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral at the church, where the Rosary will be said at 9:45 a.m.

Josephine was born on October 8, 1923 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Alex and Mary (Ostertag) Martel, who were legal immigrants from Russia in 1911. Josephine walked side by side with her husband forming The Bob Foley Co., and electrical manufacturing representative from 1961 until retiring in 1990. She was known as Grandma Jo to all the Tonganoxie Grade School students she volunteered to work with.

She walked with the Lord closely and now is with him and her loved ones in Heaven.

Mom, until we are reunited with you through the power of Jesus Christ, you will always be loved and missed. –Your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alexander M. Martel, JR., John A. Martel, Joseph W. Martel, Charles A. Martel and sisters, Marie Martel (infant), Mary E. (Martel) Rice, Felicitas B. (Martel) Deichler; her husband, J. Robert (Bob) Foley and her infant son, Michael F. Foley.

Josephine is survived by her sisters, Anna M. (Motchie Martel) Dobson and Dorothy L. (Martel) Weller, both of Kansas City, KS; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Terri Foley, Basehor, KS; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and LeRoy Maurer, Tonganoxie, KS; step son, Bill Foley, Bonner Springs, KS and step daughters, Linda Karman, Lake Stevens, Washington and Barbara J. Foley, Everett, Washington; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Josephine requested memorials to the Tony Maurer Fund, c/o Citizens Savings and Loan, 15500 State Ave, Basehor, KS 66007.

Ronald G. Starcher

Ronald G. Starcher, 55, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 in Tonganoxie, KS.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Tonganoxie Christian Church, 204 Washington Street, Tonganoxie, KS. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.

Ron was born April 19, 1953, the son of Billy G. and Jo Ann Barnett Starcher. He graduated from McLouth High School in 1971 and was a 1973 graduate of N.E. Kansas Technical School in Auto Collision Repair. He was united in marriage to Vicki Walbridge on June 18, 1977 in McLouth, KS. Ron was co-owner of S&S Body Shop, Tonganoxie for 35 years. He worked alongside his brother at their full service bodyshop, which included towing and auto collision repair. He soon became an ASE Certified Master Technician and began rebuilding cars by often cutting them in half and precisely putting them back together piece by piece. His work was widely noticed at a young age and many referred to him as a perfectionist. Not only in his line of work, but his personal life as well. Ron enjoyed traveling to race events and car shows with his family and friends. The most important thing in his life was the happiness of his girls and wife. He was a loving father who was a mentor and idol and taught the both of them the importance of humor, honesty and the ability to be humble. Ron recently took up the love of rebuilding bikes and enjoyed spending his weekends working in his garage and playing with his pride and joy, Baron “Hotrod” Dohrn. Ron would just light up at the sight of Baron and referred to him as “perfect”. Ron was deeply loved by all his family and friends and will be forever missed.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Starcher, of the home; two daughters, Leslie Dohrn and husband, Matt, and Lindsey Starcher; one brother, Jerry Starcher and wife, Melanie, all of Tonganoxie; one sister, Dixie Jones and husband, Mike, McLouth; one grandson, Baron Dohrn; and three nephews, Jerad Starcher, Tonganoxie, Colton and Kyle Jones, McLouth.

Gage Andrew Hauk

Gage Andrew Hauk, 18, McLouth, KS, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008 in Lawrence, KS.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008 at St. Martin Lutheran Church, 14308 Fairmount Road, Basehor, KS. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, 4th and Delaware, Tonganoxie, KS. Burial will be in McLouth Cemetery, McLouth, KS.

Gage was born January 26, 1990 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Melbourne C. Hauk, III and Kathleen J. Burnett Hauk. He was a student at Kansas City Kansas Community College. He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandfathers, Kenneth Oyer and Pete Burnett.

Survivors include his parents, Mel and Katie Hauk, of the home; daughter, Akalaha C. Hauk, Winchester, KS; brothers, Charlie and Jett Hauk, of the home; paternal grandparents, Mel Hauk, II, Atchison, KS and Ruth Ann Hauk, Kansas City, KS; maternal grandparents, Cathy and Richard Manis, Kansas City, KS and Wayne and Julie Burnett, Edwardsville, KS; maternal great grandmothers, Patricia Oyer, McLouth, KS and Jeannie Burnett, Kansas City, KS; and a host of other family members and friends.

Gage’s smile and laughter will never be forgotten and he will be sadly missed by all who love him.

Jane F. Cree

Jane F. Cree, 84, McLouth, KS passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Tonganoxie Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Tonganoxie Christian Church. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Monday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS.

Jane was born Feb. 15, 1924 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Gordon and Lida (Sloan) Hester. She had been a church secretary for Stony Point Christian Church and sold Avon products. She was united in marriage to John W. Cree in Emporia, KS, Sept. 14, 1953.

Jane is survived by her husband, John, of the home; two daughters, Debbie Bowen and Cindy Overbaugh, both of McLouth, KS; one sister, Nancy Euritt, Gladstone, MO; 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Memorials are suggested to the Tonganoxie Christian Church.

Dale A. Cox

Dale A. Cox, 92, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Thursday, June 05, 2008 at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2008 at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Dale was born December 31, 1915 in Leavenworth, KS, the son of Arthur and Bessie England Cox. He was a WWII Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a farmer.

He was united in marriage on January 2, 1939 to Ruth Marie Robbins. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2007.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Jackie Voelker, Tonganoxie, KS; two sisters, Irene Robbins, Overland Park, KS and Esther Robbins, Kansas City, KS; three grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Donald Leo Conrad

Donald Leo Conrad, 80, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Tonganoxie High School. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the school.

Don was born February 11, 1928 in Douglas County, Kansas, the son of John Horace and Laura Margaret Coffman Conrad. He was a member of the Tonganoxie Volunteer Fire Department for over twenty-five years. Don worked for Tonganoxie Rural High School USD #464 for thirty-five years, retiring as Superintendent of Maintenance.

He was united in marriage to Shirley McGraw on September 4, 1948 in Leavenworth County, KS.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, John (Bud) Conrad and Jack E. Conrad.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Ronald Conrad and Charlie (Tuna) Conrad, both of Tonganoxie, KS; sister, Esther Lynch, Topeka, KS; four grandchildren, Johnnie, Donna (Sissy), Sherri and Shelli; and seven great grandchildren, Wesley, Anthony, Ronald, Kelsey, Tucker, Bailey and Sydney.
