Richard F. Bull
1949-2004
Services for Richard F. Bull, 54, De Soto, will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mr. Bull died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at his home.
He was born May 24, 1949, in Chicago, the son of Richard and Mary Bull. He moved to De Soto in 1989.
Mr. Bull joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968 and retired after 22 years of service. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6654, the Marine Corps League, the Mahaffie Civil War Reenactment group with his wife for several years and Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora. He also worked for Ree's Security and had his own garage door business.
He married
Glenda Istas on July 31, 1972. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Richard S. Bull, Shawnee; a daughter, Heather L. Kirk, Lawrence; and four grandchildren.

Robert W. Johnson Sr.
1942-2004
Services for Robert Wesley Johnson Sr., 61, Lawrence, were Saturday, Jan. 24, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at his home.
He was born Jan. 28, 1942, in Little Blue, Mo., the son of Lawrence Selvin "Mike" and Eva Mae (How) Johnson. He moved to Kansas when he was young and lived in the De Soto area until he moved to rural Baldwin in the late 1950s. He attended schools in Lenape, Willow Springs and De Soto.
Mr. Johnson worked on his family's farm from an early age and did farm work the rest of his life. He was also a carpenter with Carpenters Local 2279, a millwright and a truck driver for Moore Mail Service before he retired in 2002. He also repaired, restored and researched tractors and other farm machinery.
He married
Lora Lee Wiggins on Dec. 14, 1963, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include his mother, Lawrence; two daughters, Kelly Jo Breitenbach, Berryton, and Kathryn Lorinda Johnson, Lawrence; two sons, Daniel Ray Johnson and Robert Wesley Johnson Jr., both of Lawrence; two sisters, Roxie Glaza, Shelby Township, Mich., and Winona Evans, Lawrence; six brothers, Leland Johnson, Overbrook, Dennis Johnson, Louisberg, Mo., Jimmie Johnson, Baldwin City, Billy Johnson, Olathe, Gary Johnson, Muleshoe, Texas, and Lawrence Johnson, Eudora; and six grandchildren.

Brett M. Ross
2004-2004
Graveside services for Brett Michael Ross, infant son of Benjamin and Susan Ross, De Soto, were Saturday, Jan. 24, at De Soto Cemetery.
Brett was born and died Monday, Jan. 19, at Olathe Medical Center.
Survivors include his parents, of the home; grandparents, Mike and Kathy Ross, De Soto, and Mike and Janet Wilson, Overland Park; and great-grandparents, Bob and MaryAnn Ross, De Soto, Goulding Sanderson, Newton, Eva Spaeth, Salina, Phyllis Wilson, Leawood, and Janet Wilson, Scottsdale, Ariz.;

Stanley Ray “Stan” Schneck
Funeral services for Stanley Ray “Stan” Schneck, 51, Lawrence, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Schneck died Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at his home, from complications of liver cancer.
He was born Dec. 16, 1958, in Lawrence, the son of Merle Roy and Donna Rae Carlson Schneck. He graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1977, where he participated in wrestling, football, band, jazz band, Thespians, student council and was the class president his sophomore and junior years. He later attended Kansas University after receiving the McDanield scholarship. He was also on the Lake of the Forrest swim team, and played summer baseball. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 149 in April, 1975.
Mr. Schneck started his own company, Senor Stan’s Salsa in 1996. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Kaw Valley Mycological Society.
He married
Christine Ridpath on Sept. 24, 2010, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Angel Dawn and Jessica Lauren; two grandchildren, Emma and Parker Story; his parents, Merle and Donna Schneck, of Bonner Springs, formerly of Lawrence; three brothers, Marlon and wife Michele, and Monty and wife Maria, Lawrence, and Glenn, Bonner Springs; a grandmother, Lucy Schneck, Lawrence; and five nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Maurice and Edna Carlson and Gaylord Schneck.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mathilda Mary “Tillie” Dodson
Graveside services for Mathilda Mary “Tillie” Dodson, 93, Lawrence, will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Dodson died Monday, October 4, 2010 at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.
She was born February 1, 1917, in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Julie Wojtech.
She worked as a telephone operator for 14 years in Chicago, and later as a sales clerk at Kroger in Lawrence. Tillie was a landlady and enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bingo, boating, dancing, telling jokes, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She married
Ed Dodson in 1951 and lived in Lawrence for over 50 years. He died in 2006.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Crawford and husband Steve, Lawrence; three grandchildren, John, Wes, and Stephanie; a brother and sister; two sister-in-laws, Goldie Harmon and Virginia Copp, of Lawrence; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tillie will be forever remembered for her kindness, big smile, and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed!
Friends may call from noon to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Following the service on Thursday, there will be a celebration of Tillie’s life at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community, 4851 Harvard Rd., Lawrence, KS 66049-3964 at 3:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Ronald Leroy Buerman
Services for Ronald Leroy Buerman, 65, Lawrence, will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 23, 2010 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Vinland Cemetery.
Mr. Buerman died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at his home. He was born October 20, 1945 in Lawrence, the son of Everett L. and Ruth Genevive (Colman) Buerman. He grew up and attended schools in Eudora.
He married
Shirley Reekie on August 23, 1963, in Lawrence, Kansas at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. They shared over forty-seven years of marriage. She survives of the home.
Mr. Buerman worked at Penny Ready-Mix from 1963 to 1978 and N.R. Hamm Construction from 1978 to 2008, retiring due to illness. He was a member of Topeka Local Teamsters Union 696. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Was an avid K.U. sports fan and loved animals, especially horses.
Other survivors include a son, Monte L. Buerman and wife Shelly of Baldwin City; a daughter, Brenda L. Shockley and husband Jeremy of Baldwin City; a sister, Mary Lois Galyardt of Topeka; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Buerman was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Sandra Alverson, Judith Romines and Diane Buerman.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Robert Walter Eggert
Funeral services for Robert Walter Eggert, 82, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Eggert died Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Lawrence, the son of Robert and Florence Wheeler Eggert. He attended Lawrence High School and then served in the Army and was stationed in South Korea. He returned to Lawrence and majored in accounting at Kansas University.
Upon graduation he embarked on a 20-year career as an accountant with Mobil Oil in California, Venezuela, New York, Paris, and Tripoli, Libya. He was a rural mail carrier in Lawrence for 20 years and was active in civic groups including Landlords of Lawrence, NARFE, Elks Club and East Lawrence Neighborhood Association. He attended high school reunions and coffee clubs with classmates.
He raised two small children in Libya with his wife and returned to Lawrence in 1967.
He met his future bride, Gladys Montero, in Venezuela, and they married
in Paris in 1961. She died in February 2010.
Survivors include a son, Robert W. Jr. and wife Amy, Houston, Texas; a daughter, Carolyn Pannier and husband Paul, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Florence Jean Eggert, Lawrence, and four grandchildren, Allison Eggert, Robert Eggert III, and Christopher and Catherine Pannier.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday before the service.

Charles David Reno
Graveside services with military honors for Charles David Reno, 71, Linwood, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Sidney Cemetery, Linwood, with Pastor Joe Igla officiating.
Mr. Reno died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 18, 1939, in St. Joseph, Mo., the son of Charley N. and Helen Walker Reno. He attended Shawnee Mission North High School. He later served in the United States Marine Corps in Japan and the Philippines.
Mr. Reno was employed by the United States Postal Service in Shawnee Mission, and retired in 1992 after 35 years of service. He attended Linwood Baptist Church, and was a Ham Radio operator. He loved his family.
He married
Mary (Kathy) Holmes on Apr. 23, 1977 in Kansas City, Kan. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three children, Hugh Reno, Linwood, Joshua Reno, Overland Park, and Deanna Hanson, Fairway; a sister, Sharon Lydick, Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sarah, Lindsey, and Kelsey; and one great grandchild, Emiliano.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed.

Chester McMillen
Funeral services for Chester McMillen, 93, Baldwin City, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Topeka Cemetery.
Mr. McMillen died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at his home.
He was born July 13, 1917, in the Stony Point community of rural Douglas County, the son of Jack E. and Bertha Lawson McMillen. He attended school in Stony Point. He later served in the United States Army Air Forces, and attained the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. McMillen and his wife owned the A & B Root Beer Stand in North Lawrence until the 1951 flood, when they moved to Baldwin, and purchased the restaurant and gas station from O.D. Webb. He later worked at Audra’s Dawg House and Cordoba’s. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Kansas City Royals, and loved to cook, travel, and being around people.
He married
Audra Mae Rainey on May 21, 1951, in Rogers, Ark. She died July 23, 1993. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Don, Carly, and Dale McMillen.
Survivors include a daughter, Dotty Newland, Baldwin City; a sister, Letha Myers, Baldwin City; four grandchildren, Lary Trowbridge, Eudora, and fiancee Margie Delfelder, Lawrence, Merle Newland, Richmond, Jana Kelley and husband Garry, and Nancy Cassity and husband Bill, all of Baldwin City; eight great grandchildren, Jill Watson, Tyler and Morgan Trowbridge, Maria Swonger, Melody Newland, Megan Woods, Clayton Culley, and Jenny Thomas; and a great-great grandson, Carter Watson.
