Olin W. Miles

Miles, Olin W., 93, entered into eternal life, Friday, March 8, 2013.
He was born March 27, 1919 on a farm 1 mile west and 1 mile south of Milton, KS. He was the second child of Dettmer Clempson Miles and Lucy Jane Cosby Miles. Olin received his early education in the Milton School and also attended Norwich his 7th and 8th grade years. He started farming in 1934 at the young age of 15. Olin graduated from Milton High School with the class of 1939 along with his sweetheart Louise Callaway.
Olin was united in marriage to Esther Louise Callaway on November 5, 1939 and to this union three children were born: Larry, Michael and DeAnn. The family made their home in the Milton community.
In addition to farming, Olin began raising thoroughbred race horses in 1936. He became active in horse racing in Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, Oklahoma and Kentucky. Olin worked in construction during World War II. He worked for the Austin Company at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita; the Kewitt & Connen Company at the Naval Base in Hutchinson and later for the Ralph N. Sanford Company in the construction of the Air Base at Pratt, KS. In 1957, Olin was elected regional business agent for the Hoisting and Portable Operating Engineers union local #101 where he served for 23 years. He also served as president of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Central Kansas retiring in 1980.
Olin was a faithful member of the Milton Baptist Church and served as an elected deacon. He was Sunday School Superintendent and also chairman of the church nominating committee for a number of years. Olin served as trustee on the Eden Township Board and was a member of the Norwich Lions Club. He was formerly active in the Norwich Masonic Lodge, Wichita Consistory, Midian Shrine and Aseneth Chapter #430 OES.
Olin was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Hayward, Lloyd, Gene and Leonard Miles; one son Michael Miles in 1955 of a tractor accident, daughter DeAnn Stephens in 2003 of cancer; and daughter-in-law Donna (VanGieson) Miles in 2004 of cancer and wife Esther Louise in 2011 of injuries from an ATV accident.
Olin is survived by son Larry (Helen) Miles of Round Rock, TX; 4 grandchildren: Michelle (Kelly) Ross of Wichita, KS; Tim (Anne) Miles of Norman, OK; Travis (Shannon) Stephens of Norwich, KS; Sherame (Justin) Kneisel of Andover, KS; one step-grandson James (Jill) Leber of Charleston, SC; 14 great grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews.
Visitation with family present will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at Ebersole Mortuary, Conway Springs, KS. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Milton Baptist Church followed by interment in Eden Cemetery, Milton, KS. Margaret A. Gerber

Margaret A. (Timmermeyer) Gerber, 91, of Conway Springs, died Monday, October 19, 2015 at Spring View Manor, Conway Springs, KS.
Vigil: 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015 Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015 both at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs.
She was born December 19, 1923 the daughter of Clarence and Hazel (Markel) Timmermeyer and was a 1941 graduate of Norwich High School.
She married
Leo M. Gerber, Jr. on June 2, 1948 at Conway Springs, KS. Leo died August 22, 2010.
Also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Clarence, Charles, John, Bill and Fred Timmermeyer; four sisters: Agnes Paslay, Angela Anderson, Joan Runnells, Rosemary Coleman; one son Michael and one daughter Marilyn Hudson.
Survivors: seven sons: Pat, Terry and Kevin Gerber all of Wichita; Dennis Gerber of Winfield; Tim, Kent and Shawn Gerber all of Conway Springs; five daughters: Margaret Stevens of Belle Plaine; Michele Hennes of Viola; Marlene Gerber of Wichita; Mary Cash of Newton; Melanie Crowell of Conway Springs; one brother Robert Timmermeyer of Wichita; two sisters: Sister Ruth Timmermeyer of Precious Blood Convent, Wichita; Teresa Geels of Subiaco, AR; 37 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
Memorials have been established to St. Joseph Catholic School or Alzheimer’s Association.

Rose Mary Barnett, 88, retired hairdresser, of Conway Springs, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015 at Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita, KS.
She was born May 31, 1927 at Albuquerque, N.M. and was a 1945 graduate of El Dorado High School.
She married
Ralph E. Barnett on Aug. 29, 1948. Ralph died Aug. 13, 1998. Also preceded by parents Charles and Sarah (Bingaman) Myers, and brother Charles.
Survived by one daughter Pam (Phil) Ternes, one grandson Matthew Ternes all of Dexter, MO; sister Ruth (Carman) Wolfe of Chattanooga, TN.

Larry Ross Sharp, departed this life Friday, November 13, 2015 at Wichita, Kansas at the age of 76.

Larry was born September 25, 1939 in Cherokee, OK to Carl and Jeanette (Wilcox) Sharp.
He moved to Conway Springs, KS at an early age where he attended CSHS, was active in choir, drama, and band, lettering in varsity football, basketball, and track while he worked as a mechanic and bailed hay.
Larry was united in marriage to Eileen Margaret Roths on January 16, 1960. They made their home in Conway Springs, Silver Lake, KS and finally Wichita, KS for the last 27 years.
He was pivotal as a computer programmer for Central Computing, Boeing, Sante Fe & Blue Cross Blue Shield among other jobs & positions and loved putting the “sharp fix” on anyone or anything broken.
Larry was an active & faithful member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wichita, KS for 26 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Paul; sisters: Maxine Ravenstein, Lois Collings, Bernice Haas & Barbara Ast.
Survived by his wife Eileen Sharp of 56 years; sons, Danny (Laura) Sharp of KC and Roger Sharp of Topeka, KS; daughters: Shari Sharp, Catherine Zielke & Stacy Sharp all of Wichita, KS; Cynthia Sharp Topeka, KS; Christina (Pete) Quinlan of Perry, KS; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous other cherished relatives & loving friends.
Larry was the life of his wife & family & devoted to the grace of our Lord.

Dalice A. Cline

Dalice Ann (Shinn) Cline, 79, retired USD #356 administration secretary and former co-owner / publisher of Conway Springs Star and Argonia Argosy, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 at Medicalodges, Goddard, KS.
She was born November 16, 1935 on a farm west of Millerton, Kansas to Theodore Kermet Shinn and Nellie (Hussey) Shinn and was a 1953 graduate of Conway Springs High School.
She married
Raymond James Cline on June 2, 1956. He preceded her in death January 27, 2008. She was also preceded by parents; one son Michael James Cline and one brother Truman Lee Shinn.
Survivors include: sons: Bradley (Michelle) of Goddard, KS, Stephen (Ana Karina) Seattle, WA; grandsons: Iain Frederick Murray Cline and Isaac Raymond James Cline; sister Beverly (Wilfred) Mies of Wichita, KS; sister-in-law Carol Shinn of Conway Springs, KS; nieces and nephews and some true friends.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church, Conway Springs. Interment in Conway Springs Cemetery.

Wanda R. King

Wanda Rhea (Landers) King, 90, a former educator, of Boulder, CO; died Sunday, November 15, 2015 in Riverton, Wyoming.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church, Conway Springs. Interment in Conway Springs Cemetery.
Wanda was born Feb. 2, 1925 in Miami, OK and was raised in Oklahoma. She graduated from Central State Teachers College in Edmond, OK and taught school in Oklahoma and Kansas.
Wanda married
James Edwin “Bus” King on May 19, 1953 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Bus died March 4, 1984.
Also preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Ina (Hopkins) Landers; one brother Darrel Landers; two sisters: Lois Ball and Evelyn Thulin.
Survivors: one son Hugh J. King (Paula) of Brighton, CO; one daughter Tanya King of Kinnear, WY; one brother Tom Landers of Marshfield, MO; four granddaughters: Tiana, Kaylyn, Alexandria and Samantha.
