Robert Gibbs

Robert D. Gibbs, 79, of Wichita, retired Motorola project manager, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013. A wake was held 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary in Clearwater. A funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jasper and Byrnese (Schoonover) Gibbs. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gert; children, Michael (Cindy) Gibbs of Topeka, Jerry Gibbs of Rose Hill, Bill Gibbs and Ann Terrill, both of Wichita, Tom Gibbs of Kansas City, Mo., and Laura Gibbs of Lenexa; sister, Judi (Kenny) Heaton of Liberty, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be to Victory in the Valley, 3755 E. Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS 67218.

Webb-Shinkle Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Ted Gorges

Ted J. Gorges, 69, died Jan. 11, 2013. He was born on Aug. 13, 1943, in Wichita, to the late Otto and Helen (Breitenbach) Gorges. On Aug. 3, 1968, he married Sheila Simon Gorges. He was a retired farmer, dairyman, and was employed by Dubuque Packing.

Visitation was at the family home. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Monday. Funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Both were at St. Mark Catholic Church, St. Mark, with Father Tom Hoisington officiating.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sheila; and brother, Steve. Survivors include a son, Sterling of St. Mark; daughters, Tammy (Mark) Kerschen of Garden Plain and Crystal (Derek) Grimes of St. Mark; brothers, Bill (Florence) of Schulte, Jim (Judy) of Wichita, Ron (Ruth) of Ost, Dick and Ken (Rose), all of Colwich; sisters, Mary Lou (Bart) Mohr of Oklahoma and Rosie (Tom) Youngers of Washington; grandchildren, Cale, Beau, Cali and Kyri Kerschen, and Brooke, Hunter and Taylor Grimes.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark Building Fund. Wulf-Ast Mortuary, Colwich, was in charge of arrangements.

Norma Klausmeyer

Norma Jean Klausmeyer (Hein), 80, died Jan. 10, 2013. She was born March 6, 1932. On May 2, 1953, she married Lewis Klausmeyer.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis Klausmeyer; son, Dan; daughters, Debra Koch, and Cheryl Reidt; sister, Edith Klausmeyer; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Rosary was at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aleppo. Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Visitation was from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Wulf-Ast Mortuary in Garden Plain. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the church, in care of the funeral home.

Lois Webb

Lois E. (Dunn) Webb, age 88, retired Boeing methods analyst and executive secretary, of Wichita, formerly of Clearwater, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013.

Lois was born on Wednesday, August 20, 1924, near Bayneville, Kan., to her parents, John Gardner Dunn and Lois Edna Showalter Dunn. She received her early education from rural Pleasant Plains District 58. She graduated from Clearwater High School in 1942.

Lois was united in marriage to Robert Dale Webb on Oct. 14, 1944, at the First United Methodist Church in Wichita. To this union were born two daughters, Terrie and Michelle. They moved to Clearwater in March 1954. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1971.

On March 4, 1972, she married Richard L. Webb at the Clearwater United Methodist Church. They resided most of their married life in Clearwater before moving to Wichita.

Lois was employed by Cessna doing office work from September 1942 to October 1944. In 1945, she worked in the credit department at Town & Country Clothing Store in Wichita. She returned to Cessna in 1946. From the fall of 1947 to 1949 she worked in the sales office for Marsh Steel Corporation in the Orpheum Building in Wichita. She stopped working during her pregnancy with her daughter, Terrie. On March 4, 1954, she returned to work as a time keeper at Boeing until 1957.

From 1957 to 1979, she was a secretary, and from 1979 to 1987, she was a methods analyst. She retired from Boeing on Jan. 1, 1987, after 32 1/2 years of employment.

Lois was a member of the Clearwater United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was also a charter member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine Arami Court No. 101 in Wichita.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and a brother, Gilbert. She is survived by her current husband, Richard; daughters, Terrie (Jim) Huntington of Fairway, Kan., and Michelle Self of Blackwell, Okla.; sisters, Vivian Maechtlen and Mary Miller of Clearwater; brother, Wayne Dunn, Clearwater; grandchildren, Rebecca Winslow, Matt Huntington, Ashleigh Adamosky, and Mike Self; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Molly, Kirra, and Kona.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 14, at Clearwater United Methodist Church. Interment was in Clearwater Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name with Clearwater United Methodist Church, 130 N. First, Clearwater, KS 67026.

Webb-Shinkle Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

John Fearey

John “Jack” Fearey, 97, retired farmer, passed away Jan. 1, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Lulu Duncan Fearey; and brother, Charles.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; son, Wayne (Norma); daughters, Phyllis Pray of Wichita, Laina (David) Smith of Haysville, and Janda (Charles) Allred of Salina; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Service was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Trinity United Christian Church.

Gerald Hall

Gerald “Gerry” Alan Hall, 62, of Belton, Mo., passed away Dec. 28, 2012, at Research Medical Center. He was born in Newton, on Jan. 1, 1950, to Gerald “Bink” and Maxine Hall.

Funeral services were at McGilley & George Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in Belton, Mo. Cremation followed. Gerry was a customer service representative with the IRS for 22 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bink. He leaves his wife, Norma, of the home; four sons, Bryan (Cari) Hall and Eric (Stacey) Hall of Kansas City, Mykal (Amanda) Smith of Delaware, and Isaac (Brandi) Smith of Maryland; six grandchildren; his mother, Maxine Hall; and sister, Paula (Terry) Voth, both of Cheney; plus many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and co-workers.

Memorial contributions may be made to True Life Church, 33 Lotus Circle North, Bear, DE, 19701, or the American Diabetes Association.

Carl Hodges

Carl F. Hodges, 69, of Topeka passed away on Jan. 1, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. He was born June 8, 1943 in Cheney, the son of Russell and Mary (Fearey) Hodges. Carl was raised by his Aunt Carol and Uncle Paul.

Carl attended Wichita East High School and graduated from Salina High School in 1961. Carl attended K-State on a track scholarship. Later he served in the United States Army. He was stationed stateside during the Vietnam War. He moved to Topeka and had lived in Topeka the past 40 years. He worked at the Shawnee County Health Department over 20 years and later Garda Armored Car Service. More recently he had been associated with Holster’s and More where he was a salesman. Mr. Hodges, taught firearm safety courses in accordance with Carry and Conceal legislation, State of Kansas Hunter Safety Courses, YMCA Hunter Safety Program, just to name a few.

He was married to Barbara Riggle, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 25, 1996. Survivors include three sons, Brian L. Hodges and wife Joyce of Topeka, Joshua B. Hodges of Topeka and Christopher P. Hodges of Lawrence; his companion, Lucinda Dyke of the home they shared in Topeka; his sister, Linda Jeffery and husband Wes of Cheney; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation is planned, and a memorial visitation will be held at Davidson Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 1-3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes.

Mary Webb

Mary Charlene (Heller) Webb, 95, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Ark. The daughter of Charles Herman and Kate Young Heller, she was born March 31, 1917 in Croweburg (Mulberry, northeast of Girard). Charlene graduated from Girard High School, and attended Kansas State College at Pittsburg, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education on May 29, 1940.

On July 22, 1943, Charlene married Carl Webb from Galena. She taught at Crawford Community High School in Cherokee and Baxter Springs High School in Baxter Springs while Carl was in the Marines during World War II. From Baxter Springs, Carl and Charlene moved to Clearwater, where Charlene began teaching at Garden Plain High School. She was a member of both the state and local Kansas Teachers’ Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Society for Women Teachers, and the Wichita Administrators’ Wives Club. While living in the Wichita area, Charlene was also a member of the Riverlawn Christian Church, affiliated with the Red Cross, the Junior Red Cross and the cancer drives locally and in Baxter Springs.

After retiring, Charlene and Carl moved to Rogers, Ark. She was a member of Rogers Christian Church and the Preceptor Alpha Theta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Survivors include four nephews, Jim McInturff of Wichita Falls, Tex., David Webb of Tulsa, Okla., Dan Webb of Tulsa, and Kirby Webb of Tulsa; and a niece, Judy Seifert of Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Rogers Christian Church with Pastor Jack Galbraith officiating.

A visitation was from 11 a.m until service time.

Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at the National cemetery in Fort Scott.

Memorials may be made to the Rogers Christian Church, 2421 West Oak Street, Rogers, AR 72758.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.

Barbara Yoho

Barbara Sue Yoho, 69, passed away on Nov. 2, 2012 in Wichita. Barbara was born in Stigler, Okla. on July 30, 1943.

Barbara retired from Boeing Aircraft after 20 years of service as a sealer.

Memorial service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Goddard.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John Steve and Jessie (Kemp) Ruddle; husband, Kenneth Yoho Sr.; son, Kenneth Yoho Jr.; and her brother, Charles Ruddle.

Barbara is survived by her children, Steven (Peggy) Yoho of Wichita, Kendra (Robert) Mork and Monica Yoho, both of Goddard; siblings, Jessie McCamon of Wichita, Vannie Wayne (Linda) Ruddle of Fort Smith, Ark., Jackie (Debbie) Norris of Searcy, Ark., Penny Ruddle of Wichita, Karen Wasson of Slidell, La., and Nancy Weaver of Claremore, Okla.; six grandchildren, Jessie (Chase) Fishel, Keith (Pilar) Yoho, Robert Jr. (Nakisha) Mork and Kenneth Yoho, and two great-grandchildren, Renesmee Mork and Matthew Fishel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Goddard Public Library and First Baptist Church in Goddard.

Mary Ann Brown

Mary Ann Brown, 85, departed this life on Dec. 21, 2012. She was born Nov. 4, 1927 in Denver, Colo. to parents, Frank and Minnie Benson. Mary Ann married Cecil Brown on Nov. 18, 1945 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage before he passed away in 2006. They were engaged in farming near Belmont in their early married life and then moved to Cheney to open the Gambles Store. Mary Ann was an active partner in the business venture from the beginning. She felt she had the best of both worlds as she could leave the business to take on her first love and best role of being a mother to Cecelia, Deanna and Roger.

As her health declined in 2006, she moved into the Cheney Golden Age Home where she resided until her death. Being a grandmother was definitely a role that suited her as she showered love on each and every one of her eight grandchildren and their offspring of 18 great-grandchildren. Her family was a great joy and comfort to her as well as her faith. Mary Ann was a member of the Cheney United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities in the United Methodist Women, teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir. She loved music and saw to it that her children have a deep appreciation for it also. Her faith was strong and fear was never a concern as she approached her end of life knowing her splendid destination.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil, her daughter, Cecelia Rosenhagen, and a brother, Stanley “Bud” Benson.

She is survived by daughter and husband, Deanna and Michael Hedrick, of rural Clearwater; son and wife, Roger and Sue Brown, Cheney; and son-in-law and wife, Renard and Patty Rosenhagen of rural Kingman; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Visitation was 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Wulf-Ast Mortuary in Garden Plain. Memorial Service was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cheney United Methodist Church. Burial is in Fairview cemetery in Cheney.

Memorials may be made to the Cheney United Methodist Church or the Cheney Golden Age Home.

Camden Browning

Camden Lee Browning was stillborn Friday, Dec. 21, 2012. A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Clearwater cemetery in Clearwater. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Cortney Sigwing and Robert Browning. He is survived by his parents, Jason and Shawna (Sigwing) Browning of Clearwater; brothers, Braden and Logan Browning; grandmothers, Debbie Hawley of Ada, Okla., and Etta Browning of Wichita; and great-grandmother, Mary Sigwing of Cheney.

Memorials may be sent to the Camden Browning Memorial Fund, c/o Emprise Bank, P.O. Box 128, Clearwater, KS 67026.

Webb-Shinkle Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
