Victor Becker
Victor P. Becker of Cheney, 70, dairy farmer and township road maintenance worker, died Monday, Oct. 1. He was born Dec. 25, 1941, in Cheney.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, with funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe Ost. Interment will be at St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, Kan. Father Ivan Eck will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Wulf-Ast Mortuary in Garden Plain.
Victor married
Jeanette Knoblauch on Feb. 6, 1965, in Mt. Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Peter Becker and Barbara Ann Hilger. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Becker, of Cheney; sons, Patrick Becker (Heidi) of Cheney and Marvin Becker (Melissa) of Plano, Texas; brother, Ed Becker (Brenda) of Cheney; sisters, Agnes Metzen (Donald) and Donna Rausch (Tom) of Viola, and Mary Jo Smythe (Darryl) of Tampa, Fla.; and grandchildren Keri, Nathan, Macy, Alexi, Jony and Lydia Becker.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School or St. Rose Catholic Church.

Mavis Dutton
Mavis Cozette (Hurn) Dutton passed away Sept 15 in Waco, Texas, after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 6, 1936 to John William Hurn and Anna Debba (Hensley) Hurn of Cheney. She graduated from Cheney High School and attended Kansas State University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was married
to Maurice Dutton on June 23, 1956. They had three children: Michelle Debba, Michael Kevin, and Mark Douglas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and her son Michael. She is survived by her husband Maurice of Waco; daughter Michelle Marker, son-in-law Burt Marker and granddaughters Sierra and Brynn Marker of Greene, N.Y.; son Mark, daughter-in-law Michelle Baca and grandsons Andrew and Kevin Dutton of Albuquerque, N.M.; her brother and sister-in-laws, David and Jennifer Dutton of Benbrook, Texas, and fifteen nieces and nephews.
She was a very intelligent, loving and giving person who made life better and more joyous for all who knew her. Memorial services will be held at the first Presbyterian Church, 1100 Austin Ave, Waco, TX on Oct 13 at 1 p.m.

Jeanette Niemann
Jeanette Josephine Niemann, daughter of William and Leafa May (McCullough) Kernohan, was born Jan 22, 1921 in Sharon. She attended school in Sharon until graduating with the class of 1939.
On April 30, 1946, she was united in marriage with Felix Niemann in the St. Boniface Catholic Church at Sharon and this union was blessed with four children, Kay, Jeanette, Nancy, and Greg.
The family made their home in Attica where Felix and Jo, as she was known to family and friends, owned and operated the Otasco Store for many years until retiring.
In earlier years, Jo was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW. She was also a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Harper and of the St. Joan of Arc Parish Community, before moving to Goddard.
After Felix passed away May 4, 1978, Jo moved to Goddard to be near her children. She moved her membership to the Church of the Holy Spirit.
On Wednesday, Sept. 26. 2012, Jo passed away at the Medicalodges in Goddard at the age of 91 years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Dustin Pfannenstiel; her son-in-law, Tom Pfannenstiel; and one brother, Max Kernohan.
She will be missed by her children, Kay Bowen (Stan) and Greg Niemann (Sharon) both of Goddard; Jeanette Parker (Lynn) of Wichita and Nancy Garlow (Steve) of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one brother, Glen Kernohan (Peggy) of Longview, Texas; one sister, Jean Buhrman (Carl) Hutchinson; other relatives and many friends.
Recitation of the Rosary was held at 9 a.m. with the Mass of the Christian Burial following at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, both held at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Goddard. Father Dwight Birket officiated. Soloists were Randy and Debbie Stockman, accompanied by A.J. Ritter. Casket bearers were Keith Neimann, Jared Scott, Isaac Smith, Dan Smith, Casey Garlow, John Rackey, Steve Smith, Rocky Garlow, and Eli Smith.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday Sept. 29, 2012 at the Attica cemetery in Attica with Father Curtis Robertson officiating.
Memorials may be given in Jo’s name to the American Cancer Society or to the Church of the Holy Spirit building fund and sent in care of the funeral home.

Jerome Thimesch
Jerome J. Thimesch, 76, passed away on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, after a short battle with cancer.
Jerome was born on May 14, 1936, to Frank and Helen (Mies) Thimesch. Jerome retired from Cessna. He was a school bus driver for the Renwick School District No. 267. He also farmed for many years.
Jerome was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and volunteered for the Garden Plain religion classes.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jeannette Dick; brother, Kenneth Thimesch; and sister, Constance Rigsby. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Catherine (Martin) Thimesch; children, Valerie (Damon) Hermes, Jason (Christina) Thimesch, and son-in-law Bennie Dick II; brothers, Robert, Charles, Leon, Richard and Gary Thimesch; sisters, Darlene Robinson, Mary Frances Flores and Betty Jo McLaughlin. He has eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two step-grandchildren, and one step-great-granchild.
A rosary will be at 8 pm. Friday, Oct. 5, and funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, both at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Garden Plain.

Cecilia M. Thome
Cecilia M. (Bell) Thome, 91, of Clearwater, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012. A Rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Schulte. A Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Cecilia Mae Bell Thome was born on Monday, May 16, 1921 in Wichita, Kan. She was the second oldest of six children born to her parents, Frederick Martin Bell and Helen Rose (Sponsel) Bell. She was united in marriage to John Richard Thome on Feb. 11, 1941 in Wichita. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1988.
In early 1960s, she received the Pro Deo et juventute (for God and youths) award and was instrumental in starting CYO for Wichita Diocese.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Helen Bell; husband, John R. Thome; brothers, Ernest, Paul, and Larry Bell; sister, Leona Adair. Survivors include nine children, John (Darla) Thome of Wichita; Natalie (Dan) Boughey of Ventura, Calif.; Sharon Patton, Marcelline Arnold and Jeannine (Dan) Goertz, all of Wichita; Stephen Thome of Caldwell; Loretta (Fred) Viramontes of Wellington; Tim (Patti) Thome and Tony Thome, all of Clearwater; one brother, Elvin John Bell of Wichita; 26 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Webster
Dorothy Marie (Wedman) Webster, 43, passed away Sept .27, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born April 3, 1969 in Harper, daughter of Roger and Delores (Hess) Wedman.
Marie, as she was known to family and friends, grew up on the family farm near Argonia. She was baptized and confirmed in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Danville, now of the St. Joan of Arc Parish community. She attended school in Argonia until graduating with the class of 1987. She furthered her education at Hutchinson Community College, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Business.
On May 10, 1997, Marie married
Ty Webster at the St. Teresa Catholic Church in Hutchinson. This union was blessed with two children; Joshua Michael and Dorothy Amber, whom she loved more than anything.
Marie was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Naomi Hess and Joseph and Dorothy Wedman; two brothers, Larry Wedman and David Wedman, and one nephew, Nicholas Wedman.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Ty Webster; her children, Joshua Michael and Dorothy Amber Webster, all of Argonia; her parents, Roger and Delores Wedman of Danville; four brothers: Eugene Wedman and wife, Kristina of Anthony, Richard Wedman and wife, Teresa, Ronald Wedman and wife, Stephanie, all of Argonia, and Galen Wedman and wife, Jo of Medicine Lodge; one sister, Linda Head and husband Jay of Argonia; her mother and father-in-law, Don and Nancy Webster of Hutchinson; sisters-in-law, Angie Williams and husband, Kyle and Kiley Buggeln and husband, Chuck, all of Hutchinson; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Recitation of the Rosary was held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Danville, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish community. Mass of the Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. Oct 2 with Father Michael Peltzer officiating both services. Lectors were David & Carla Wedman. Soloist was Jeff Jelinek accompanied by Kay Troyer on organ. Hymns sang were “Amazing Grace”, “Ave Maria”, “Prayer of St. Francis”, “On Eagles Wings”, and “Song of Farewell”. Gift Bearers Karyn, Danielle and Jonathan Head and Allison Martin. Altar servers were Allison Blanchat and Matt and Dylan Drouhard. Casket bearers were Stan Wedman, Jeff Wedman, Derek Zimmer, Jake Wedman, Scott Vaughn and Jason Head. Interment was held at Fairview cemetery in Danville.

Genevieve Greer Wilbur
Genevieve Greer Wilbur, 97, of Clearwater, retired Sedgwick County Election Commissioner, farm wife, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012. Graveside Services were held at 2pm, on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, Wichita Park Cemetery.
Genevieve Nadine Greer Wilbur was born on Sunday, June 27, 1915 in Wichita, Kan. She was the second of three daughters born to her parents, Arthur Orville Greer and Hazel Ione Howell Greer. She attended Harry Street Grade School, Hamilton Junior High, and graduated from Wichita East High School. She went on to attend Friends University for a few years of study. She was united in marriage to Horace Wesley Wilbur on March 1, 1936 in Wichita. They made their first home in Wichita for a short time before moving to a farm west of Wichita. In 1952 they moved to the farm northeast of Clearwater at Hoover and 71st. Horace preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1968. In 1974, she moved into Clearwater. She was a homemaker and farm wife above all else. She was also a substitute teacher in the 1960s for Clearwater and Oatville schools. In the early 1970s, she worked at the Sedgwick County Treasurer’s office and in 1974, she started work at Sedgwick County Election Office. In 1981, she retired as Sedgwick County Election Commissioner.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Horace W. Wilbur; parents, Arthur and Hazel (Howell) Greer; son, Glenn Wilbur; sisters, Dorothy Swartz and Betty Young. Survivors include two sons, Wesley (Linda) Wilbur of Peck and David Wilbur of Clearwater; one daughter, Janet (Myron) Isern of San Ramon, Calif.; and two grandchildren, G.W. Wilbur and Jordan Isern.

Julia Bega
Julia R. (Briley) Bega, 73, medical secretary and retired Boeing printing expediter, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012. Visitation with family present will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, and funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, both at Goddard United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merlin and Edith (Rhoden) Briley; baby sister, Sondra; brothers, Wes, Martin and Michael Briley; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Gary; children, Gary (Guillermina) Bega of Wichita, Stacie (Wayne) Arensman of Salina, Lisa Oakley of Clearwater, and Scott (Michelle) Bega of Haysville; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Alvin Zerger
Alvin D. Zerger, 79 died Sept. 19, 2012 at Goddard. He was born Sept. 24, 1932 at Cheney, the son of Henry J. and Edna Simous Zerger. A lifetime resident of the Cheney community, he was a retired farmer and stockman.
On July 19, 1971 he married
Rosemary Leighty at McPherson: she died Oct. 19, 2000. Survivors include a sister Alvena “A.J.” Conrad and her husband Joe: nephew Tarry Zerger and his wife Nancy, five great-nieces and great-nephews: and six great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Cheney United Methodist Church, Saturday, Sept. 22. Burial was held at the Pioneer Cemetery, Cheney.
Memorials may be made with Cheney United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home. Livingston Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Caroline Stuhlsatz
Caroline Stuhlsatz of Cheney, passed away peacefully into our Lord’s arms on Sept. 16, 2012. She was born March 31, 1918, being the only daughter of Albert and Emma (Bohrer) Henning.
Caroline met her husband Paul at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Willowdale, Kan. She was a member of the St. Rose Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella.
Caroline’s passing follows her beloved parents (Albert and Emma), brother Raymond Henning, her husband Paul and daughter Jeanette Beard. She is remembered through her sons Ronald (Mary) and Donald (Vivian) of Wichita, and Richard (Sue) of Garden Plain; daughters Patricia (Richard) Dwyer, and Diane (Mike) Bonczyk of Newton; son-in-law Richard Beard and sister-in-law Marie Henning, all of Wichita. Caroline was blessed with 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Her Rosary will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Mt. Vernon, Kan. The mass and burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, also at St. Rose Catholic Church. Memorials established with St. Rose Cemetery.
