Bo Wells
Bo Dean Wells, age 30, loving son, brother, and uncle, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Sandy; brothers, Bobby (Katie), and Tommy; niece, Bayley Baker; nephews, Brayden and Blake Wells; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Bo will be remembered by the smile always on his face, a laugh that would fill the room and an extra big heart.
Bo was born Jan. 18, 1982, in Wellington, Kan. He was one of three children born to his parents, Robert Christopher Wells and Sandy Faye Finney Wells.
A rosary was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Clonmel. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, also at St. John’s Catholic Church.

Clifford White
Clifford G. White, age 94, of Clearwater, retired Cessna Sheet metal mechanic and farmer, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012. Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary Chapel in Clearwater. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Bethel cemetery in Amorita, Okla.
Clifford was born April 21, 1917 in Wakita, Okla. He was the only child born to his parents, William and Ellen (Cox) White. He was a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. He loved to fly and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He also belonged to the Hudson Club and loved to drive his ’49 Hudson convertible to many parts of the U.S. He was a longtime member of the Clearwater Church of the Nazarene.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents. He was a kind and loving husband to his wife of 71 years, Viola. He is also survived by his daughter, Sharon and son-in-law, Bill Garrett; grandchildren, Cindy Weems and her husband, Jack of Amarillo, Texas, Bill Garrett and wife, Nea of Bridgeport, Texas, and Michelle Sackett and husband, Scott of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Sarah Weems, Joshua, Alexis, Brittany, Collin, Micayla, Elisabeth, and Christina Garrett; and great-great-grandchildren, Lily, Terra and Emily Weems.

Maxine Dixon
Maxine (Smith) Dixon, age 85, of Clearwater, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many, passed away on Jan. 12.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Edd and Ethel Smith, three brothers, Allan Smith, Edd Smith Jr. and Lloyd Smith and sisters Helen Smith, Dorothy Baird and Roberta Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Gale Dixon, daughters, Barbara Emberson, Joy Day and Karen Loftus; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and another due in August; and five great-great grandchildren; sisters Louise Dukes, Jennella Stitt, Betty Blasdel, Fern DeStasio and Norma Jones.
Maxine was born Sept. 27, 1926, in rural Conway Springs, Kan. She was one of 13 children born to Edd Smith and Mary Lou Ethel (West) Smith. She was united in marriage on October 31, 1953, in Wichita to Gale Albert Dixon. They had 58 lovely years together. Maxine retired from The Coleman Co. on April 30, 1990 after 40 years of service.
Memorial service were held on Monday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. at Clearwater United Methodist Church.

Frances Gilman
Frances Barbara Gilman, 89 of Madison, Kansas passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11 at an Emporia hospital.
She was born Dec. 1, 1922 in the Rock Valley community northeast of Madison, the daughter of Nicholas and Frances Haughton Nuessen. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School at Olpe in 1940 and attended Emporia State University.
She was employed as a clerical worker in an aircraft plant in Wichita during World War II. Following the war, she remained in Wichita and was employed by Farmers and Bankers Life Insurance Company.
She was united in marriage to Gerald Houston King on May 25, 1946. The couple moved to an oil lease northeast of Madison then moved to Lamont in 1948. Mr. King was struck by lightning and killed on June 25, 1951.
She and daughters Barbara and Jacquelyn lived with her parents following Mr. King’s death. She worked for the Kansas Power and Light Company in Madison and later was co-owner of Skelly Grocery in Madison.
She married
Charles Stephen Gilman on May 22, 1954. They were owners and publishers of The Madison News, retiring Dec. 31, 1996.
Mrs. Gilman was a member of the National Press Association and Kansas Press Association.
She was a charter member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Madison and St. Teresa Altar Society of the church. She taught religion classes there for many years.
Mrs. Gilman served as precinct committeewoman for the Republican Party in Madison Township from 1989 to 1994.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary to Post 124, Madison, and later Auxiliary Post 5 of Emporia, and Madison Concert and Lecture Series. She was a life member of Greenwood County Historical Society. She was a former member of GFWC Junior Study Club and Civic Culture Club, both of Madison.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Stephen N. Gilman of Madison and David (Rhonda) Gilman of Burlington; four daughters, Barbara (Richard) King Coke of Fremont, Nebraska, Jacquelyn (Russell) King Harrison of Cheney, Mary Leigh (Robert) Dyck of Vassar and Kathleen (Michael) Hess of Stillwell; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, George Nuessen, Clayton Nuessen, and Martin Nuessen.
Mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday Jan. 14 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Madison. The rosary was recited at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial followed services at Maydale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Madison and sent in care of the VanArsdale Funeral Home.
Elma Harbison
Elma L. (Marsh) Harbison, age 89, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012. Visitation will be 9 a.m. 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, with family present, 6-7:30 p.m. at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary Chapel. Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary Chapel.
Elma was born on May 2, 1922 in Moscow, Kan. She was sixth of nine children born to her parents, Clyde Leroy Marsh and Sarah Ellen Blakesey. She received her education through Clonmel, Viola and Clearwater schools. On Aug. 20, 1940, she was united in marriage to Frank Daniel Harbison in Ulysses, Kan. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1988.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; daughter, Virginia Lymn; her son, Gary; brothers, Bill, Gabe, Henry, and Ira Marsh; sisters, an infant sister, and Gladys Marsh. Survivors include her son, Stanley Harbison of Wellington; daughter-in-law, Dorothy (Bill) White, of Clearwater; brother, Melvin (Darlene) Heckert of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister, Mary (Jesse) Ybarra of Udall, Kan.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Delbert Michael
Delbert R. Michael, 73, retired road maintenance supervisor for Sedgwick County Dept. of Public Works went to be with the Lord January 13, 2012. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 450 and the Shriners.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Mary Michael. Survivors are his loving wife of 51 years, Sandy; children Christy (Michael) Petersen of Clearwater and Christopher Michael of Wichita; brother Bob (Debra) Michael of Derby; sisters Charlene Fair of Goddard, Gwen (Bob) Hinckley of Leon; grandchildren Micca (Jimmy) Shipman, Mariah Petersen, Maddie Petersen, Cole Petersen, Sandi Michael, Jonathan Michael; great grandchildren Aiden, Eli and Averi and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Resthaven Mortuary. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be sent to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
Julietta Seiler
Julietta Rose (Pelz) Seiler of Colwich, 84, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died on Thursday, May 3, 2012. Julietta was a loving wife and dedicated homemaker. She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Parish, Colwich, and a St. Anne Altar Society member.
Julietta was preceded in death by her husband, James, whom she married
on April 25, 1949; her son, Thomas; her parents, John and Caroline Pelz; brothers, John, Eugune and Virgil; and sisters, Otilia, Mary Joan and Bernadette. Julietta is survived by her children, Mary Rose and Francis Jirak of Tampa, Kan., Ruth Korecki of Englewood, Colo., Daniel and Maria Seiler of Colwich, Rebecca Dugan of Wichita, Donna and Bill Quaney of Colwich, Jane and Terry Gorges of Colwich, and Jusey Seiler of Colwich. Julietta was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Aloyius Pelz of Aurora, Colo., and sister, Pauline Russell of Grand Rapids, Mich.
Rosaries will be at 4:30 and 7 p.m. Monday, May 7, and funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, all at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colwich.
A memorial has been established with Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

David Kerr
David C. Kerr, 59, of Wichita, died April 27, 2012, in Wichita. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at Wulf-Ast Mortuary Chapel in Garden Plain. Interment will be at Calvary cemetery in Garden Plain.
Kerr is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Mabel (Bond) Kerr; two sisters, Betty McDonald and Susie Ham; and a brother, Dean Kerr. He is survived by three sisters, Evelyn (Stephen) Smith and Mary (David) Goode of Wichita, and Ruby (Chester) Berg of Topeka; 14 nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service has been established with Giddeon International.

Shirley Buerki
Shirley A. Buerki, 76, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, died April 19, 2012. She was born February 17, 1936, in Wichita, the daughter of Jack and Minnie Parry. Funeral services were Monday, April 23, at Goddard United Methodist Church.
She married
Lynn Buerki on July 30, 1954. After moving to the farm, she devoted her life to Grade A dairying, gave farm tours to local school children, and was a contributing writer for the Dairyman’s Digest. On the farm she wore many hats including wheat truck driver, parts-chaser, head chef, and deliverer of numerous baby calves. She was involved with the KACD Ladies Auxiliary, and the Kansas Junior Livestock show. She wanted so much for urban people to understand the need and value of agriculture.
Shirley was an avid lover of Christian music, played piano and organ, sang in the chancel choir, and was a hand bell ringer. Shirley and Lynn were youth sponsors at Calvary United Methodist Church, attended the Nazarene church for many years, and more recently were members of the Goddard United Methodist Church.
Her dearest love was being a mother and grandmother. She was very active and supportive of her children’s activities in school. Shirley considered it a gift each time the family was together.
Prayer was her greatest medicine and following God’s will was her armor. She will be remembered as being a fully devoted follower of Christ and a devout prayer warrior.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Minnie Parry. She is survived by Lynn, her husband of 57 years; son, Dan (Janice) of Wichita; daughters, Pam (Rick) of Hutchinson, and Tish (Ken) of Goddard; brother, Jack (Barbara) Parry of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Goddard United Methodist Church.
Max Pittman
Max L. Pittman, 72, Grove, Okla., formally of Neodesha, Kan., died April 21, 2012, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Visitation was 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, at the First Christian Church of Neodesha, and memorial service followed at 2 p.m. at the church. The family of Max L. Pittman suggests memorial contributions to Wilson Medical Center Foundation or the Neodesha High School Student Assistance Fund in care of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel.
Max was born on February 28, 1940 to Carl and Doris (Westrope) Pittman in Las Animas, Colo.
Max graduated from Neodesha High school in 1958. He attended Independence Community College prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in El Paso, Texas. Following his military tour of duty he graduated from Kansas State College of Pittsburg, Vocational Technical School majoring in electronics.
Max married
Deanna Cram on August 4, 1963, and they lived in Scott City, the first two years of their marriage, prior to his employment with KG&E in Independence and Wichita.
In 1968, Max and his family moved back to Neodesha where they joined their family business, B&C Hatchery, until 1972. He worked as an electrician at nuclear plants throughout the U.S. for many years under Fluor Daniel Incorporated. He retired from Wilson Medical Center in 2006.
In November of 2011, Max and Deanna moved to Grove, Okla., to enjoy their retirement. He is survived by his wife of 48 years; one son, Craig and his wife Jana of Cheney; two grandchildren, Morgan and Hunter Pittman, and one great-granddaughter Aaliyah McGinnis, all of Pretty Prairie. He is also survived by his father, Carl Pittman of Neodesha.
Max was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Pittman; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Westrope of Lafontaine, and Mr. and Mrs. John Pittman of Elk City.

Joyce Riedl
Joyce E. Riedl 77, died Wednesday, April 19, 2012 at her Sedgwick residence. She is survived by her husband, Bernard “Bernie” Riedl of the home; two sons and their wives, Kevin and his wife Tracy of Cheney, and Kyle and his wife Sheila of Arkansas City, Kan.; one sister, Joan Aden of Wichita; son-in-law Scott Simmons and his new family of Lauderdale, Minn.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth (Moore) Anderson, and daughter Kay Lin Simmons.
Funeral service was 10 a.m., Monday April 23 at Sedgwick United Methodist Church in Sedgwick. Visitation was Sunday, April 22, at Petersen Funeral home. Burial will be in the Hillside cemetery in Sedgwick.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Kay Kin Simmons Scholarship Fund in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
