Lena F. (Smith) White, age 91, homemaker, of Winfield, died Sat, Aug. 19, 2006. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church, Monkey Run, Ark. Memorial to Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband, William; brother, Willis, sisters, Marie Pointer, Ida Hayes, Molly Bradberry, Opal Smith; son-in-law, Jim Holland; grandchildren, Kevin White, Sammy Chisum, Darrel Holland, Cassandra White; great-grandchild, Adrian Hayden. Survivors include daughters, Sue Holland of Wichita, Shirley Setzkorn of Arkansas City, Connie Ables of Ponca City, Okla.; sons, Clifton White of Wilcox, Ariz., James White of Clearwater, Stanley White of Wichita, Ron White of Emporia, Chris White of Gassville, Ark.; brothers, Harvey and Guy Smith; 24 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

Gene Bongiorni, Jr.
Gene Bongiorni Jr., 75, of Peck, Sumner County Commissioner, musician, carpenter, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, at Clearwater United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by parents, Eugene Bongiorni, Sr. and Julia (Patterson) Bongiorni; step-mother, Viola Bongiorni; brother, Richard Bongiorni; sister, Brenda Renko. Eric Proctor
Eric A. Proctor of Goddard, age 26, Dry Wall Systems dry wall installer, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, as a result of a motorcycle accident. Memorial services were held Monday at First Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his wife, Tara, father, Robert Proctor, of Goddard, mother, Nelda (Jim) Taylor, of Augusta, sister, Debbie Proctor, Kansas City, Kan., and grandparents, George and Patsy Proctor, of Wichita.

Brian Thomas Younger, 38, oilfield worker, Cheney and formerly of Garden City, died Nov. 3, 2006 at his home in Cheney.
He was born Jan. 18, 1973 in Garden City, the son of Darrel and Theresa Pettz Younger. He was preceded in death by his mother and biological father, James Threadgill. Survivors include sons, Alec Rhodes, Garden City, Thomas Younger, Cheney, Brian Younger, Jr., Arizona, Trevor Rhodes, Garden City; fiancé Gerry Kuhn, Cheney; father, Darrel Younger, Garden City and brother, David Younger, Houma, La.
Memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, with Rev. Donald Mace presiding. Memorials may be given to the Brian T. Laverna Goldsmith
Laverna Fern Goldsmith, 84, of Garden Plain, died Sunday, May 6, 2007.
Survivors include: sons and spouses, Norman and Carol Goldsmith of Lincholn, Neb., Ed and Debby Goldsmith of Richmond, Kan., Steve and Jessie Goldsmith of Cheney; daughters and spouses, Elaine and Mark Corder of Olatha, Kan., Amy and Mark Scheer of Cheney; sister, Juanita Morrison of Newton; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Dale, brother Elmer Wayne Cook, sister, Aberta Boone and grandson Andy Goldsmith.
Funeral service was 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Cheney.
Memorials have been established with Trinity United Christian Church youth group and Fairview Cemetery.

Gerard ‘Bud’ Seiler
Gerard “Bud” K. Seiler, 46, manager of Kingman Equipment and contractor and developer, of Andale, passed away May 5, 2007, in Fall River, Kan. Rosaries were May 9, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and service is Thursday May 10, at 10:30 a.m., both held at St. Mark Catholic Church, St. Mark, Kan., with Msgr. John Gilsenan officiating.
Interment is at St. Marks Cemetery, St, Marks.
He was born Dec. 12, 1960, in Wichita, the son of Gilbert Seiler, Sr., and Mary Joan (Pelz) Seiler. On Feb. 16, 2001, he was united in marriage to Kathy Merritt, at St. Marks. Survivors include his wife, Kathy, of the home, sons Joshua and Chase Seiler, both of St. Marks, Jordan Seiler, Andale, step-daughter, Regan Holt, Andale, Jennifer Ryan, Wichita; Father, Gilbert Seiler, Sr., Garden Plain; brothers, Gilbert Seiler, Jr., Conway Springs, Gregory Seiler, Goddard, Gordon Seiler, St. Joe Ost, Guy Seiler, Tajique, N.M., Gary Seiler, Hanston, Kan., Gavin Seiler, Andale; sisters, Gwen Martin, Andale, Gail Schuler, Hazelgreen, Wis.

Geraldine Speer
Geraldine FitzGerald Speer, 72, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at her home near Amistad, N.M. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 5, at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton, N.M., with Rev. Kevin Phillips and Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Burial followed in Clayton Memorial Cemetery, Clayton.
She was born Sept. 7, 1934, to Wayne Miles FitzGerald and Dorothy (Kiddoo) FitzGerald. After graduating from Clearwater High School, she married
Robert Speer on May 3, 1953 in Clearwater. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2005. She is survived by a daughter, Johanna Speer Milam (Bryce), Dalhart, Texas; sons, Wayne Speer (Joyce), Dalhart, Texas, and Roy Speer (Kimberly), Sedan, N.M; brothers David FitzGerald, Clearwater, and John FitzGerald, Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Miles.

Phillip L. Cotton, age 54, Molder at Tweeco, died Friday, July 20, 2007. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 26, at First Baptist Church in Clearwater.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanine; parents, Leon and Mildred Cotton, of Wichita; daughters, Jacqueline Babcock, Marsha (Brian) Oakley, all of Wichita; sisters, Carol (Paul) Clark, Kay (Jerry) Harris, all of Clearwater; Dana (Robert) Fitzsimmons, Winfield, Mo.; brothers, Steven (Barbara) Cotton of Viola, Gregory Cotton of Clearwater; and five grandchildren.

Vivian Pendlay
Vivian Jean Pendlay of Yates Center, 79, died Monday, July 9, 2007 in Iola, Kan. Services were Friday July 13, 2007 at Cambell Funeral Home. Interment was at Yates Center City Cemetery.
Mrs. Pendlay was born Oct. 8, 1927 in Kansas City, Kan. to the late Homer and Frances Coy. Vivian had lived in the Yates Center community for 59 years. She graduated from Colorado State College of Education. She taught school in Norwich, Burlington, Topeka, Midway, Yates Center and Hutchinson Community College. She was a member of the First Christian Church. On July 6, 1952, she married
C.S. (Strut) Pendlay at Topeka.
Survivors include her husband, C.S , daughters, Linda and husband, Ron Neifert of Yates Center, Christyn and husband Todd Schroeder of Canton, Kan.; brother Kenneth and wife Jo Ann of Clearwater, KS.; niece Susan Coy Philbrick; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

E. Virgil Wellman, Jr.
E. Virgil Wellman, Jr., 72, retired Boeing sheet metal mechanic, loving husband, father, and grandfather went to be with the Lord July 22, 2007.
He was preceded in death by his father Encil Wellman Sr.. Survivors include: wife, Betty; mother; Mae Wellman; sister, Nancy (Jim) Hunter; brother, Richard (Carol) Wellman, all of Wichita; children, Martha (John) Morales, Meza, Ariz., Rhonda Truett, Paula (James) Tull, Christopher Kester, all of Wichita, and Pamela (Kester) Jones, of Clearwater, 24 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. on Friday, with services at 2 p.m. Friday, both at Lake-view Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name.
Neil H. Butterfield
Neil H. Butterfield, age 69, real estate investor and retired Boeing Jig builder, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007.
Neil was born Dec. 23, 1937 in Hutchinson, Kan. He was one of six children born to his parents, Lester and Corine (McCammon) Butterfield. He grew up in Burton, Wichita, and Wellington, Kan. In the fourth grade, they moved to Milan.
Neil fell in love with the little girl in braids. He married
Carla Neal on Nov. 27, 1957 in Wichita. He worked as a Jig builder at Boeing from 1957-1993. He also worked as a real estate investor. One summer, right out of high school, he drove a cement truck to help build the Kansas Turnpike. He enjoyed woodworking, building and remodeling houses, playing checkers and trigonometry, riding motorcycles and traveling. He loved reading Louie Lamour and Zane Grey books. He piloted small aircraft. When it came to his love of chocolate cookies, he was known as “The Cookie Monster.” Neil was a member of the Clearwater United Methodist Church, a past youth leader and a member of various church boards.
Graveside Services were held on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Milan Cemetery, Milan, Kan.
He was preceded in death by parents, Lester and Corine Butterfield. Survived by his wife, Carla; son, Curtis Butterfield of Clearwater; daughter, Debra Peterson of Lawrence; sisters, Mary (Ted) Garten of Warrensburg, Mo., Marcia (Bill) Dean of Wichita, Janet Edge of Tulsa, Okla., Jill Butterfield(Terry Meadors) of Aviano, Italy; brother Jason Butterfield of Shawnee, Kan.; grandchildren, Hannah, Carl, and Eric Peterson.

Vera Amanda Cox
Vera Amanda Cox, 79, of Cheney, died Dec. 14, 2007 in Wichita. She was born June 13, 1928 in Seneca, Kan., the daughter of Anthony Joseph and Christina (Strathman) Spielman. On Aug. 27, 1955, she was united in marriage to Jack L. Cox in Seneca, Kan. Survivors include husband Jack; sons and spouses Steve (Tammy) Cox, Kevin (Darlene), Kent (Tori), all of Cheney; sisters Olivia Numrich of Kansas City, Mo., Luella Hinton of Fayetteville, Ark.; seven grandchildren.
Rosary was 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, and service was 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, both at St. Rose Catholic Church, Mt. Vernon, Kan., with Father Ivan Eck officiating. Interment was at St. Rose Catholic Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Hospice. Wulf-Ast Mortuary, Garden Plain, was in charge of arrangements.
Payton Allen Mitchell
Payton Allen Mitchell, four months, died Dec. 12, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born July 19, 2007, in Hutchinson, the son of Curtis and Pam Mitchell.
Survivors include: his parents, Hutchinson; a brother, Gregory Davis, Hutchinson; a sister, Madison Paige Mitchell, Hutchinson; grandparents, Jay and Jo Davis, Hutchinson, Linda and Lyle Housh, Hutchinson, and Bob and Charlotte Mitchell, Camdenton, Mo.; and great-grandparents, Kenneth and June Sparr, Clearwater.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Bonnie L. Davis.
A funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 17 at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian presiding. Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery.

Agnes K. Pauly
Agnes K. Pauly, 90, of the Viola community, died Monday, Dec.17, 2007 at her home.
A Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Dec. 19, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, also at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons: Larry Pauly and Earl Pauly, Jr., both of Viola, Kan.; three daughters, Marlene Barkley of Conway Springs, Kan.; Diann Jones of Penalosa, Kan., and Shorty Sterling of Wichita, Kan.; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Philippine Mission.
