Emmitt David Leihsing, 73, of Paola, Kansas, formerly of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Wednesday, August 17,2011 at his home. He was born August 13, 1938 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the son of Herman J. and Julia A. Jenkins Leihsing.
He married
Carolyn Baugh and to this union his children, Belinda and David were born. Emmitt was employed as a trailer mechanic and truck driver prior to retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Herman J. Leihsing and one sister, Lenora G. Jenkins. Survivors include one son, David Leihsing and Leslie of Paola, Kansas; one daughter, Belinda E. Ernest of Pleasanton, Kansas; one brother, John Leihsing, and one sister, Marie Hime, three grandchildren; William Ernest and wife, Jessica, Elisabeth and Matthew Ernest and three great grandchildren, Maddisyn, Brooke and William Wyatt Ernest.
Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Centerville Cemetery, Centerville, Kansas. Friends and family will gather at 9:30 AM at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas until departure to the cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Ruby Joan Singmaster, age 75, Fort Scott, Kansas died Thursday August 11, 2011 at the Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was born on August 25, 1935 at Pleasanton, Kansas the daughter of Hughie U. and Margaret E. Norbury Black. She graduated from Pleasanton High School and worked at the Bank of Pleasanton for many years before retiring. She was married
to Jack Graves and to this union two children were born, Jeff & Jacqueline. She later married
Robert Singmaster on August 20, 1987. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2000. She was a member of the Community Christian Church and was involved in the Women's Bible Study. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was preceded in death also by her parents, and a brother Fred Black. She is survived by her son Jeff Graves of Lake Wales, Florida, daughter Jacki Long of Lansing, Kansas, a sister Carolyn Black of Mound City, Kansas, grandson Nick Long and wife Ashley, granddaughter Ashley Whelpeley, husband Kyle and son Brody, and nieces Carla Slaughter and Cathy Hoover, and almost son Eddy Staton.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday August 17, 2011 at the Community Christian Church in Fort Scott, Kansas. Burial will be in the Hume Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held. Joan will lie in state all day Tuesday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Kansas. Wilma Marie Wright, age 87, of LaCygne, Kansas died Wednesday August 3, 2011 at the Vintage Park in Osawatomie, Kansas. She was born at LaCygne on December 29, 1923 the daughter of Eldon H. and Flora “Betty” Lee Stites. She graduated from LaCygne Rural High School and married
Norvin Wright on May 20, 1956. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1990. Wilma was also preceded in death by a brother Robert Lee Stites. She was a member of the LaCygne United Methodist Church and UMW, she was involved in the LaCygne Historical Society, LaCygne Alumni Association and enjoyed traveling. She is survived by a nephew Alvin Stites and wife Rolleen and niece Naomi Simmonds and husband John other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday August 6, 2011 at the LaCygne United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Sunny Slope cemetery in Blue Mound, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 PM Friday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in LaCygne. The family suggests contributions to Vintage Park, or the LaCygne United Methodist Church. Paris Junior Neal, 86, of Mound City, Kansas, died Tuesday, August 02, 2011 at his home. He was born September 17, 1924 in Farlinville,Kansas, the son of Paris William and Lena Patterson Neal. He was married
to Wilma Jones on September 9, 1944 at Mound City, Kansas.
He was a World War II veteran, serving with the United States Army and a member of the American Legion Hewitt-New Post #248 of Mound City.
Junior enjoyed bowling, playing cards and going to auctions.
He was a retired farmer and stockman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, a grandson, Jacob Neal and a great grandson Skyler Neal.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma of the home; two sons, Dale Neal of Mound City, Kansas and Bruce Neal and Tami of Springfield, Missouri; five daughters; Katherine Clay, Carolyn Stokes and Carmen Self and Ed, all of Mound City, Kansas; Mary Lena Fox and Dave of Cameron, Missouri and Wilma “Loretta” Bayless and Bruce of Prairie Village, Kansas; one sister, Ruby Nation; twenty-two grandchildren , twenty-three great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 Am, Monday, August 8, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, Mound City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM, Sunday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City. Memorial contributions are suggested to “Everybody’s Trailer” c/o the funeral home. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery, Mound City.

Robert Lee Godard, 79, of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Monday, November 14, 2011 at Kansas City Hospice House.
He was born December 24, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Edmond and Hulda Toeneboehn Godard. Bob graduated from Turner High School.
He married
Phyllis Frary and to this union three children were born, Joseph, Jeffrey and Patricia. He later married
Neva O’Dell in 1975.
Bob was a self employed business owner all his life, including the Dari Kurl and Vickers Service Station in Pleasanton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norman, Alvin”Buck” and Raymond “Dodge” Godard; a sister, Marjorie Trowbridge and a step-son, Ernest O’Dell.
Survivors include his wife, Neva of the home; his sons, Joseph Godard & Lisa of Holiday Island, Arkansas, Jeffrey Godard & Dawn of Pleasanton, Kansas; daughter, Patricia Miller of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; a brother, Edmond Godard Jr. of Tonganoxie, Kansas; stepdaughters, Kelly Moore of Paola, Kansas and Trina Welch and Bob of Spring Hill, Kansas; eight grandchildren; Eric, Alicia, Ryland, Kyle, Nicholas, Jacob, Cierra and Lucas and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Schneider Funeral Home Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until service time at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to the Kansas City, Hospice House.

Dennis L. Clay, age 54, DeSoto, Kansas died Friday November 11, 2011 at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born on October 29, 1957 at Olathe, the son of Alfred F. and Dorothy Makemson Clay. He was most recently employed as a truck driver. He was an Army Veteran. Survivors include a daughter Julie Roberson and grandson Ayden Roberson, and three brothers; Wayne, Duane and Fred Clay. He was preceded in death by a brother Alfred R. Clay and his parents.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday November 15, 2011 at the Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City, Chapel . Burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery. HARLEY DUNSWORTH
Harley Elbert Dunsworth, 87 of Mound City, Kansas, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at his home. He was born May 13, 1924 in Pappinsville, Missouri, the son of John and Margaret Martin Dunsworth. He was a graduate of Mound City High School. He was employed for a number of years as an auto mechanic with Cox Motor Company and Dennis Chevrolet.
Harley married
Wanda West Pitts on July 7, 1978.
He was preceded in death by children, Jimmy Howard and Julie, a son, John Dunsworth; a brother, Bueford Dunsworth and a sister, Rose Dunsworth.
Survivors include his wife; Wanda; children, Joyce Pitts and Terry Crump and Janet Kerr; a son, H.L. Dunsworth and two daughters; Norma Dunsworth and Margaret Ann Dunsworth; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
As per Harley’s wishes he was cremated. A visitation will be held from 1-3 PM on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City Chapel.
Harley enjoyed fishing regularly with Terry therefore contributions are suggested to the Friends of Mound City Lake c/o Schneider Funeral Home.

Doris L. Henesey, 93, of Mound City, KS passed away at the Olathe Medical Center Tuesday, November 1st, 2011. She was born November 21st, 1917 to Robert R. and Levah Campbell Boyd in Blue Mound, KS.She was preceded in death by her husband Orval K. Henesey who died November 14, 1973; one great grandson, a brother Robert B. Boyd and sister, Virginia Chapman.She is survived by her daughter Pam (Gary) Schmitz of Mound City, KS, her son, Mike (Brenda) Henesey of Derby, KS, four grandchildren: Doreen Thomas, Kurt Schmitz, Nicole Henesey and Michael Henesey, seven great grandchildren, her sister Reta Milliken of Williamsburg, KS, and sister-in-law Alberta Boyd of Pittsburgh, PA.
She was a member of the Mound City Christian Church, former member of the Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Jolly Dozen Bridge Club.
Visitation will be at the Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City, Chapel
from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Friday.
Celebration of Life services will be Saturday, November 5th, 10AM at the Mound City Christian Church with interment at Woodland Cemetery, Mound City. Minda Sue Clay, age 61, passed away on Saturday October 29, 2011 at the Manor Care in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born on February 26, 1950 at Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of Howard and Evelyn Beacham McDaniel. She married
Henry Clay on August 31, 1979. To this union, two daughters were born. Minda Sue enjoyed reading, fishing and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband Henry Clay of Overland Park, Kansas, two daughters, Rebecca Thomas and Justin, and Nancy Clay all of Freeman, Missouri; five brothers: David, Robert, Richard, John and Carl McDaniel; and two sisters, Lori Cook and Tina McDaniel, five grandchildren and others she considered her own.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Mound City, Kansas. Burial will be in the Richland Cemetery. Clarence Whitten Adams, 92, of Pleasanton, Kansas died Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. He was born March 12, 1919 in Pleasanton, Kansas, the son of Homer Harrison and Kittie Mae Whitten Adams. He was a farmer, worked for Frisco Railroad and employed with Farmers & Merchants Bank for 32 years.
Clarence graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1937. He married
Fern Mullis on August 9, 1940 and to this union five children were born. She preceded him in death on November 9,1995. He later married
Evelyn Russell who also preceded him on December 1, 1999. He then married
Alice Mae Wilks.
He was a member of the Bykota Southern Baptist Church in Pleasanton and later the New Life Baptist Church in LaCygne, Kansas.
He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge # 33 of Mound City, Kansas.
He was preceded in death also by a daughter, Donna Mae Vandewynkel and two brothers, Willis and Albert Adams.
Survivors include his wife, Alice of LaCygne, Kansas; one son, Dennis Adams & Judy of Wamego, Kansas; three daughters, Nancy McGinnis of Arvada, Colorado; Lougena Austin & David of Fort Collins, Colorado and Joyce McReynolds & Oren of Fort Scott, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bykota Southern Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery.

Ethel Alice “Susie” Makemson, 93, of Prescott, Kansas, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, Coffeyville, Kansas.
She was born October 10, 1918 in Mound City, Kansas, the daughter of James E. and Emma Leona Cummins Thomas. She married
Emmett Makemson on November 25, 1936 at Mound City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1975.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pleasanton, Kansas, and attended the Prescott Baptist Church also.
Ethel was a homemaker and babysat for many children.
Ethel was preceded in death also by her parents; two brothers, George and James Thomas; and four sisters, Clara Ralph, Mary McKimmey, Florence Doudna and Leona Wurtz.
Survivors include one son, Bill Makemson and Jan of Sebring, Florida; two grandchildren; Brian Makemson and Dalia and Lora Kirkland and Dennis; great grandchildren; Daniel, Paul and Elena, Abigail, Deborah, Joseph and Nathan and one great great grandson, Shawn.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 30, 2011 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Biblical Ministries Worldwide. Interment will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery.
