Funeral services for Nellie Virginia Smith, 76, Arkansas City, who died Friday, April 4, 2003, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Williams of Hillcrest Bible Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in Parker Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers wer Jeffrey Oliver, Jr., Corey Reininger, Christopher Watts and Matthew Smith.

Arrangements were under the direction of Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.

Corbin Adair Rathbun, infant son of Joshua and Lynsey (Bowman) Rathbun died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born March 21, 2003, at Flagstaff Medical Center in Flagstaff, Ariz. Cremation has been effected.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Phoenix. Contributions may be made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Helen Frances Tolles, 87, Arkansas City, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Hospice or the Good Samaritan Fund at the Presbyterian Manor. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Lorraine L. Hoover, 64, Winfield, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Good Samaritan Village in Winfield. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, in Highland Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Southwinds Community Alternatives in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield.

Noriko (Suzuki) McDowell, 68, Arkanas City, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at Via Christi - St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

Arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Funeral services for Doloreta Virginia "Dolly" Judd, 79, Arkansas City, who died Saturday, April 5, 2003, were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, with Pastor Gale Rider of Mt. Zion Church officiating. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers were Vera Burkhart, Don Burkhart, Merle Peters, Wayne Lacey, Jerry Plush, Gale Paton and Jack Paton.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Funeral services for Earl Wayne "Bud" Messner, 73, Arkansas City, who died Friday, April 4, 2003, were conducted at 2 p.m Monday, April 7, 2003, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, with Pastor Robert L. Ferris of the First Christian Church in Newkirk, Okla., officiating. Interment was in Parker Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers were Gene McCorgary, Danny Mitchell, Randy Marrs, Monte Hunt, Les Waldeck, Cloyd Cully, Phil Marrs and Rod Marrs.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Funeral services for Apoline Stella Larson, 89, Arkansas City, who died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church in Arkansas City. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery. Casket bearers were Brett Bates, Bruce Endorf, Jesse Shane Larson, Luke Larson, David Smith and Zakary Larson.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Ethel Vita (Roberts) Tope, 85, died Monday, March 17, 2003, at Ulysses. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. (MST) Thursday, March 20, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church, Syracuse. A graveside committal service will follow in the Kendall Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 p.m. (MST) today. A memorial has been established for the Sunflower Square VIP Senior Center in Syracuse. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Greene-Fellers Funeral Home & Monuments, Syracuse.

Larry D. Jones, 63, Newkirk, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003, in Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City, with Brother Jess Fisher officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Lawrence E. Capron, 78, of Oxford, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at the Riverview Manor in Oxford. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Oxford Funeral Service, Oxford. There will be no visitation, as cremation has been effected. A memorial has been established with the Oxford American Legion Post. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Oxford Funeral Service, Oxford.

Juanita Elizabeth Symes, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at the Life Care Center Nursing Home in Wichita. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Countryside Christian Church, 1919 South Rock Road, Wichita.

Old Mission Mortuary, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.

Beula H. Esch, 95, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at the Elk Manor Nursing Home in Moline. She was a longtime Moline resident. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Moline Christian Church, with Pastor Gary Boles officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Winfield.

Memorials have been established with the Elk Manor Nursing Home and the Moline Christian Church. Contributions may be made by way of Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard, which is in charge of arrangements.

Eva M. Schifferdecker, 95, of Arkansas City died today, Jan. 7, 2003, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit here. Service arrangements are pending and will be announced by Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

Phyllis June Babcock, 71, of Arkansas City died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit here. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Arkansas City. Interment will follow in the Parker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 1412 North Second St. on Thursday, Jan. 9. Memorials have been established with Adams Elementary School and with the First Southern Baptist Church Music Ministry. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City is in charge of arrangements.

Edwin W. Bechtel, 71, longtime Ponca City resident, formerly of Arkansas City, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at Grace Memorial Chapel with David Hamor officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery with Larry Hall officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel, Ponca City.

Floyd Lester McIrvin, 103, Newton, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at the Friendly Acres Retirement Community in Newton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at the Friendly Acres Retirement Community Chapel with Rev. Pam Martinez, chaplain and Rev. James Starkey, retired United Methodist minister, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at the Altoona Cemetery in Altoona with Rev. James Starkey officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Altoona United Methodist Church or Friendly Acres Retirement Community.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Wichita.

Lydia P. Parkerson, 99, longtime resident of Cowley County died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Good Samaritan Village in Winfield. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Wilmot, Kan., cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Friday. A memorial has been established for Good Samaritan Village. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield.

George Alan Snyder, 62, Arkansas City, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at his home.

Arrangements are pending and under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.

Henry R. Freese, Jr., 86, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Fosters Ivory Chapel with the Rev. Jack Manley, Bill Crow and Ken Holladay officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Casket bearers were Lester Burris, Jack Nelson, Michael Mayo, Steve Johnson, Jim Chappell, Jeff Howell and Donell Rogers. A memorial has been established for the Evangel Assembly of God Annual Christmas Gift Giveaway, where he was an active worker. Contributions may be made through the church at 2200 S. 32nd St., Muskogee, OK 74401.

Virginia Ruth Knuckey, 88, Winfield, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at her daughter's home in Winfield. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Winfield. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. today and the family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. Memorials have been established for the First Baptist Church and for the Good Samaritan Village Activities Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Carl Maurice Corder, 87, Winfield, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at William Newton Hospital in Winfield. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. A memorial has been established for the American Lung Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.

Sarah Jane Nichols, 76, Arkansas City, formerly of Newton, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at the Medicalodge North Post Acute Center in Arkansas City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at the Church of Christ in Newton. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery in Preston, Kan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials have been established with Maude Carpenter's Children's Home of Wichita or the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
