Paul E. Beckley
SCOTT CITY - Graveside service for Paul E. Beckley, 89, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, with the Rev. Mike Lynne Smith officiating.
Mr. Beckley died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
He was born July 12, 1913, at Scott City, the son of Dr. E.M. and Minnie Merica Beckley.
A lifetime resident of Scott City, he was a carpenter and cabinet maker until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of First Baptist Church, American Legion, VFW, and the Historical Society, all at Scott City, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
On Sept. 12, 1937, he married Ruth Riney at Scott City. She survives. He also is survived by three daughters, Jacqulyn Ruth Bell, Shreveport, La., Paula Sue Porter of Lawrence, and Beverly Lynn Norman, Scott City; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Memorials are suggested to the Historical Society or the donor's choice, both in care of the funeral home.
Ioshua Goytia
Funeral for Ioshua Goytia, 9-month-old son of Adrian and Sandra (Villa) Goytia of Garden City, will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Carlos Garcia Pena officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Ioshua died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born April 14, 2002, at Garden City.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Isaac and Iovan Goytia, and a sister, Itzel Goytia, all of the home; his grandparents, Cesareo and Celia Villa, and Adela Talamantes Goytia, all of Liberal; and his great-grandparents, Crisofora Michel, Los Angeles, Susana Vargas, Liberal, and Luz Goytia, Mexico.
Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. Seventh St.
Kenneth Milton LeMasters
HUGOTON - Funeral for Kenneth Milton LeMasters, 77, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Assembly Of God Church, Hugoton, with the Rev. Robert Bailey officiating. Military graveside service will follow at Hugoton Cemetery.
Mr. LeMasters died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
He was born June 20, 1925, at Oakland, Calif., the son of Al and Frances Dworshak LeMasters. His mother later married Carl Hall, a stepfather he admired for his ability as an artist. He attended many schools as the family moved quite often, eventually graduating from Benson Tech High School in Oakland, where he trained in the ROTC program.
Mr. LeMasters served in the 216th Ordnance Maintenance Company in the U.S. Army Aircorps during World War II. He served on a detached duty to the Navy, piloting crash boats in Guam. He later was on a ship that was blown up and, after his recuperation, he was discharged from the service. He then returned to Hugoton to rejoin his wife, Betty Lou (Heaton) LeMasters, whom he had married Dec. 4, 1943, at Alva, Okla. She preceded him in death as did his parents; a daughter, Sherry Leighty; two stepbrothers; and a stepsister.
Throughout his lifetime, he had been a farmer, worked on drilling rigs, and served as a police officer for the Stevens County Sheriff's Office and the Hugoton City Police. Before his death, he had been Hugoton Municipal Judge for 16 years. He also ran the Iron & Metal Company in Hugoton during the 1950s, and continued to sell campers and trailers. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, a charter member of VFW Post No. 5391 at Hugoton, and was active in the Hugoton Senior Center.
Mr. LeMasters enjoyed camping at Cimarron Canyon, N.M., fishing for rainbow trout in Eagles Nest Lake, N.M., and also enjoyed hunting, riding his motorcycles, ballroom dancing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his companion, Faye DeWitt, Hugoton; two daughters, Sharon Karol, Berkeley, Calif., and Shannon Greenstreet, Great Bend; a son-in-law, Dennis Leighty, Ulysses; a stepsister, Leola Hall, El Cerrito, Calif.; his mother-in-law, Fay Hagaman, Hugoton; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

Otis W. Jennings
LAKIN - Funeral for Otis W. Jennings, 79, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wesleyan Church, Lakin, with the Revs. Steve Sparks and Jeffrey Lee officiating. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery.
Mr. Jennings died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.
He was born April 11, 1923, at Burr Oak, the son of Roy F. and Mae E. Burgin Jennings. The family moved to Garden City when he was young, and he attended schools there.
On Aug. 10, 1943, he married Shirley Haflich at Garden City. They moved to a farm in eastern Finney County, near Kalvesta, then moved to Lakin in 1962.
A stockman and rodeo producer, Mr. Jennings enjoyed the rodeo, hunting coyotes and watching his grandchildren in sports. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church of Lakin, a former member of Church of the Brethren in Garden City, belonged to the Garden City Roping Club, Kearny County Saddle Club, A.Q.H.A., N.L.B.R.A., N.I.R.A., N.P.R.A., and the Mid-States Rodeo Association and was a Kansas State brand inspector for 12 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Victor A. "Deke" and Wayne Otis "Bud" Jennings, both of Lakin; three daughters, Marilyn K. "Jo" Vanatta, Lakin, Rebecca J. Grusing and Rita Mae DeVaughan, both of Kendall; a brother, Roy J. Jennings, Vallejo, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Jennings; a brother, Paul Jennings; and two sisters, Kathryn McGuire and Ruth Anderson.

Laura A. Wolfe
DEERFIELD - Laura A. Wolfe, 76, of Deerfield, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Dec. 11, 1926, at Menlo, the daughter of Clifford Marsh and Hazel Jane Middleton Liester. She grew up in Hoxie and attended schools there. She moved to Colby in 1946.
On March 7, 1947, she married Darrel E. Wolfe at Norton. They lived in various places before moving to Deerfield in 1951. A homemaker and long-time bookkeeper for the family business, Mrs. Wolfe retired in 1990. She enjoyed bowling, traveling to 49 states and several provinces of Canada, handwork and sewing. An accomplished seamstress and quilter, she made numerous baby quilts. She was a member of Deerfield United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Terry L. Wolfe, and a daughter, Marilyn Sue Wolfe, both of Lakin; two sisters, Twila Miller, Hoxie, and Fern Fox, Grand Junction, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Chester and Leland Liester.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Deerfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Warren Hett officiating. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery.

Richard Haviland Risley
DIGHTON - Richard Haviland Risley, 90, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Lane County Long Term Care in Dighton.
He was born Oct. 1, 1912, at Nickerson, the son of Frank Haviland and Mary Eva Bressler Risley, and grew up in Reno County.
A Lane County resident since 1944, he was a lifelong farmer/stockman and one of the original stockholders of Lane County Feeders. He was well known in Dighton for bringing eggs to town to distribute in the community and supplying Shetland ponies for the 4-H Rodeo.
Mr. Risley attended the United Methodist Church of Dighton, was a former member of the Farmers Co-op Oil Board and a longtime member of Amy School Board.
On March 21, 1936, he married Keistle Louise Pence at St. John. She died Sept. 8, 1999. He also was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glen and Gaylord Risley; and a sister, Mary Risley.
Survivors include a son, Jon Risley, Dighton; two daughters, Janice Murphy, Tucson, Ariz., and Lora Hanel, Placentia, Calif.; two brothers, Gene Risley, Wichita, and Bill Risley, Nickerson; a sister, Frances Martin, Coral Springs, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Dighton, with the Revs. Lennie Maxwell and Phil Shull officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation hours are 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or Lane County Historical Society, both in care of the funeral home.
Marie Louise Myers
CIMARRON - Marie Louise Myers, 80, a former Kalvesta resident, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born Jan. 16, 1922, at Wichita, the daughter of Walter Frank and Ruth Esther Butterworth Colby. After her birth, the family moved to Owego, N.Y. When she was 16, they moved to Halstead where she was employed at Halstead Hospital.
She moved to Garden City in 1944, where she worked at St. Catherine Hospital until her marriage Sept. 18, 1949, to Wallace Oscar Myers at Garden City. He died May 10, 1978. She also was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Julia Colby; four brothers, Bob, Daniel, Wesley and Johnny Colby; and a sister, Geraldine Wilson.
Mrs. Myers had lived in Kalvesta from 1949 until 1982, when she moved into the Hillcrest Manor Apartments at Cimarron. She moved into The Shepherd's Center at Cimarron in May 2002. She was a member of Church Of The Nazarene at Cimarron and the Cheerful Workers Club at Kalvesta. A homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with her family, going to her grandchildren's activities and embroidering.
She is survived by two sons, Leonard Wallace Myers, Cimarron, and Calvin Edward Myers, Kalvesta; a daughter, Carolyn Joann Woltje, Wright; a brother, Lorrin Colby, Franklin, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Church Of The Nazarene, Cimarron, with the Rev. Randy Harrel officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today through Wednesday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette.
Esperanza Solis
Funeral Mass for Esperanza Solis, 84, of Post, Texas, was to be 10 this morning at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Post, with the Rev. Hugh Thekkel as celebrant. Burial was to be at Terrace Cemetery
in Post.
Mrs. Solis died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Lubbock, Texas.
She was born Feb. 23, 1918, at Chihuahua, Mexico.
On Jan. 26, 1936, she married Ascencion Solis at Las Cruces, N.M. He died Feb. 23, 1985. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Romilia Luna.
A resident of Post since 1951, Mrs. Solis worked at the Postex Cotton Mill until her retirement. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons, Ruben Solis, Lubbock, Texas, and Raul Solis, Amarillo, Texas; six daughters, Mary Quinonez, Denver, Alice Varela of Post, Esperanza Soto and Susan Lierra, both of Lubbock, Frances Bustoz, Amarillo, and Martha Luna, Garden City; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
