Martha A. Mitchener 89, of Winfield, KS, passed away on Friday norning, April 4 2003 at Wnfield Rest Haven. Born on August 15, 1913 in Malta Bend, MO., she was the daughter of Craven Ernest and Mary Charlotte (Walker) Fulton. She was reared and educated in Malta Bend. Following graduation fiom Malta Bend High School, she attended Missouri Valley College in MarshalI, Missouri and later college in Columbia, Missouri.
Private graveside services will be held. Friends may sign a register book at Miles Funeral Service, 4:00 to 9:00 P.M.' Sunday, April 6, 2003.

Earl Wayne "Bud" Messner, 73, of Arkansas City died Friday, April 4, 2003 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert L. Ferris officiating. Internent will follow in the Parker Cemetery. Born March 10, 1930 at Arkansas City, Bud was the son of Phillip Earl (P.E.) and Viola (Eash) Messner. Bud grew up and attended schools in .Arkansas City. On April 24, 1953 he married Marilyn (Clason) of Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Arhansas City, where thev have lived since. Bud and Marilyn owned and operated the Messner Oil Company from 1956 until 1973. They also ran the Portland and Ashton Elevators from 1970 until 1975. Bud farmed cattle, hogs and wheat. He faithfully attended the Winfield livestock auctions every Wednesday. A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
