Jacob Leonard Lamb
LAKIN - Jacob Leonard Lamb, 30, of Lakin, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Denver.
He was born Sept. 2, 1972, at Tulsa, Okla., the son of Jack D. and Marie L. LeBlanc Lamb. He grew up in Sand Springs, Okla., attended elementary school in Sapulpa, Okla., and graduated in 1991 from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Sgt/E5 in the 82nd Airborne Division, stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.
After being medically discharged in 1996, he returned to Oklahoma for a short time before moving to Lakin in 1999. He was the coach for the Lakin Mat Crew Wrestling Team, enjoyed playing golf and all sports, and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners.
Mr. Lamb was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lakin and Tamarisk Golf Club of Syracuse.
On July 3, 2000, he married Tracy Ann Mitchell at Las Vegas, Nev. She survives. He also is survived by two daughters, Lauryn Mitchell and Kailey Lamb, both of the home; his father and stepmother, Jack and Vernette Lamb, Skiatook, Okla.; his mother, Marie Doyle, Denver; two brothers, Josh Lamb, Golden, Colo., and Jeb Lamb, Denver; two sisters, Jan Rea, Denver, and Amy Lamb, Lakin; two stepbrothers, Matthew Johnson, Tulsa, Okla., and Michael Johnson, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; a stepsister, Rebecca Thompson, Broken Arrow, Okla.; and his grandfather and stepgrandmother, Jack and Sue Lamb of Sand Springs.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Lakin, with the Rev. David Bolz officiating. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery, with graveside rites conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
Roger Lewis Stiver
LEOTI - Roger Lewis Stiver, 69, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Hays Medical Center in Hays.
He was born Oct. 18, 1932, in Ponca City, Okla., the son of Oliver T. and Helen F. Nyfeler Stiver.
He was a self-employed brick and stone mason for 36 years, and since 1990 had been owner and operator of Novus Windshield Repair Service, serving 11 western Kansas counties. He was a 1950 graduate of Springdale High School in Springdale, Ark.
He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in August of 1942 in Cleveland. He enjoyed his ministry, gardening, bonsai-tree cultivation and visiting with friends.
On July 2, 1955, he married Donna Louise Schuyler at Winfield. She survives.
Other survivors include his father, Leoti; one son, Rodney Stiver, Carpinteria, Calif.; one daughter, Angela Stiver, Garden City; three brothers, Joe Stiver, Santa Fe, N.M., Richard Stiver, Elkhart, and Gary Stiver, Sutherland, Neb.; one sister, Gayle Harris, Lakewood, Colo.; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Lee, Shady Cove, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Leoti, with Ray Gonzales officiating. Inurnment will be in Leoti Cemetery, Leoti.

Jerry L. Small
Jerry L. Small, 38, of Wilson, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, from injuries suffered in a boating accident at Lake Wilson.
He was born Nov. 25, 1963, at Russell, the son of Gillen and Karen Krentzl Small.
A lifetime resident of Wilson, he was the owner/operator of Smokey Hill Auto Body of Wilson and belonged to the Wilson United Methodist Church, Wilson Masonic Lodge, Russell Shrine, ISIS Temple, Yorkrite Masonic Body and Wilson Masonic Lodge.
On June 2, 1990, he married Loretta Whitmer at Wilson. She survives. He is also survived by his parents, Wilson; three sisters, Malia Rich, Garden City, Desde Prockish, Louisville, and Tanaya White, Ulysses; a brother, Gary Small, Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Wilson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Elaine Lord officiating. Burial will be in Wilson City Cemetery
with Masonic rites conducted by Sumeria Lodge No. 298 of Wilson.
Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Foster Mortuary, Wilson, and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Children's Hospitals, in care of the mortuary, 610 24th St., Wilson, KS 67490-0205.
Wendell J. Hahn
Vigil service and rosary for Wendell J. Hahn, 83, of Fayetteville, Ark., will be 8 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. James E. Baker as celebrant. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with military graveside rites conducted by the Garden City Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr. Hahn died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at his home.
He was born Aug. 1, 1919, at St. John, the son of George and Minerva Myers Hahn, and grew up in the Kinsley area. He moved to Garden City in 1942 and to Fayetteville in the late 1980s. He was a truck driver and had worked for more than 15 years for Wilson Trucking Co.
Mr. Hahn was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the VFW and the Eagles Lodge, all at Garden City, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed watching baseball, playing cards, fishing and raising tomatoes.
Survivors include four sons, Michael Hahn, David Hahn and Alvin Lesley Flynn, all of Garden City, and Norman Hahn, Fayetteville; two sisters, Elnora Sloan Butler, Garden City, and Marie Unruh, Cheyenne Wells, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Virgil Hahn; six brothers, Lawrence, Frances, Victor, Leonard, Ellis and Lester "Hap"; and a sister, Doris Webb.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St.
Amogene Waddle
A private family service for Amogene Waddle, 82, a former Garden City resident, was Saturday at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home in Palm Bay, Fla.
Mrs. Waddle died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla.
She was born March 14, 1920, at Jonesboro, Ark., the daughter of Bess E. and William H. Lohnes.
She is survived by a daughter, Dianne B. Shepherd-Gallardo, Palm Bay; a son, Randy E. Waddle, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three brothers, Harold H. Lohnes, Hot Springs, Ark., G.W. Lohnes, Shreveport, La., and Robert M. Lohnes, Pine Bluff, Ark.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Hoyt Lohnes.

Samuel E. Swann
Samuel E. Swann, 42, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at his home in Garden City.
He was born May 1, 1960, at Garden City, the son of Daniel "Carl" and Juanita May Hicks Swann. He attended Garden City schools.
Mr. Swann worked as a driver for Hapes Trucking before spending the last 23 years with Bocats (now J & A Livestock Co.) where he was the welding shop supervisor. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed fishing, camping, playing pool and motorcycles. His special interests were his family and friends.
On June 3, 1994, he married Terri Ladner at Garden City. She survives. He also is survived by four sons, Scott Swann, Fort Bragg, N.C., Daniel Swann, Garden City, Levi and Gavin Swann, both of the home; a daughter, Riley Swann, Topeka; a brother, Bill Case, Oak Harbor, Wash.; a sister, Carla Bakken, Garden City; and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral was 10:30 a.m. Aug. 17 at First Christian Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Donald E. Carter officiating. Burial followed in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Mae M. Showman
Memorial service for Mae M. Showman, 82, of Fort Dodge, was to be 2 p.m. today at Fort Dodge Chapel, with the Rev. Dick Robbins officiating.
Mrs. Showman died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at the Kansas Soldiers Home, Halsey Hall, Fort Dodge.
She was born Jan. 20, 1920, at Pierceville, the daughter of Jasper Sterling and Dovie Mae Woodruff Morgan.
A former Garden City resident, moving to Fort Dodge in 1989, she was a homemaker and had worked at Garden City Laundry for many years. She was a lifetime active member of VFW Women's Auxiliary Post 1520 at Fort Dodge and the Moose Lodge at Garden City.
On Dec. 16, 1935, she married Clyde Ellis Bulkley at Garden City. He died Aug. 10, 1964. On Jan. 12, 1980, she married Eugene F. Showman at Garden City. He died July 20, 2001. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Clyde Bulkley; two brothers, Roy and Lee Morgan; and four sisters, Vina Morgan, Olga Bale, Alta Woodrow and Dora Bale.
Survivors include a son, Clinton Bulkley, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Pat Fenton, Spring, Texas, and Betty Kells, Manhattan; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Jerry D. Richardson
LAKIN - Jerry D. Richardson, 55, of Lakin, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Canon City, Colo.
He was born March 27, 1947, at Oklahoma City, the son of Nathaniel G. and Alma Furgeson Richardson Stout and the stepson of Ruby Richardson. He grew up in Oklahoma and California, graduating from high school at Crooked Oak, Okla. He later attended Central State University at Edmund, Okla., for about four years.
After moving to Wilburton, Okla., he worked for Amoco Gas Co. for 14 years. In July 1993, he moved to Lakin where he was a self-employed truck driver and had been the owner-operator of Richardson Family Trucking Enterprises for the past six years.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, was active in the Boy Scouts, serving as Assistant Scout Master for years, and was also active in the Republican Party. He was a family man who loved the outdoors and spending time with his family at his cabin in Colorado. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he was the recipient of a Purple Heart.
On Dec. 29, 1973, he married Bedeanna F. Norrell at Lakin. She survives. He also is survived by two sons, Aaron Richardson, Wallace, Neb., and Jerry D. Frewaldt, Albuquerque, N.M.; three daughters, Kendra Richardson, Albuquerque, Vicki Cantrell and Tari Thomas, both of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Ronald Dean Richardson, Daniel Richardson and Danis Richardson; a stepbrother, Ronald Eugene Stewart; three sisters, Jean, California, Beverly Lohman and Cheryl Knight, both of Oklahoma; his father- and mother-in-law, Burl and Patricia Norrell; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother-in-law, Bobby Norrell.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Lakin Wesleyan Church.
