EdnaMae Lehman
SCOTT CITY - Funeral for EdnaMae Lehman, 92, of Scott City, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, Scott City, with the Rev. John Warring officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
Mrs. Lehman died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.
She was born March 19, 1910, in Sedgwick County, the daughter of Martin and Ada Belle Cooley.
A lifetime resident of Scott City, she was a telephone operator in the early 1930s. On March 6, 1932, she married Alvia J. Lehman at Scott City. They owned and operated the Western Auto store in Scott City until their retirement in the early 1970s. Mrs. Lehman was a member of First Christian Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Emogene Harp of Scott City and Russell Komlofske of Holcomb. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ralph and Leroy Cooley; and two sisters, Lillie Greathouse and Viola Dones.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Memorials are suggested to Park Lane Nursing Home, in care of the funeral home.
Beulah Maria Myers
LAKIN - Funeral for Beulah Maria Myers, 69, of rural Lakin, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wesleyan Church, Lakin, with the Rev. Steve Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery.
Mrs. Myers died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.
She was born April 10, 1933, at Wichita. When she was 6 weeks old, she was adopted by William Paul and Eva Maria Stutzman Bumgardner.
On Dec. 26, 1948, she married Kenneth Edward Myers at Garden City. Over a 40-year period, they cared for more than 137 children in their home. A homemaker, Mrs. Myers also helped on the farm. She enjoyed raising a garden, canning her produce, crocheting, reading and making baked goods for the fairs. On kidney dialysis since August 1998, she felt like her caregivers and the other patients were a part of her family.
Mrs. Myers was a charter member of Pilgrim Holiness Church, which was established on May 8, 1952, and is now the Wesleyan Church of Lakin, and enjoyed working in the church. She also belonged to the Extension Club for several years.
Her husband died May 17, 1993. She also was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Cecil George Jr., Ronald George, Jack Thomas and Carl Edward Thomas; an infant twin brother; and two sisters, Dorothy Behm and Debbie Goff.
She is survived by a daughter, Roseanna Bahntge, Lakin; five sisters, Lula Belle Fahnert, Amarillo, Texas, Loreli Smith, Joplin, Mo., Virginia Bechdoldt, Pragre, Neb., Linda Grover, Pueblo, Colo., and Shirley Herman, Rocky Ford, Colo.; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of Haskell County Funeral Home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.
Mae Rainer Massey
HUGOTON - Funeral for Mae Rainer Massey, 94, a former Hugoton resident, will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hugoton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.
Mrs. Massey died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Wellington Care Center in Wellington, Texas.
She was born June 20, 1908, at Foss, Okla., the daughter of Thomas H. and Salley Matthews Rainer. She grew up in Oklahoma and Texas, graduating from high school in Sweetwater, Texas.
On Dec. 24, 1935, she married George D. Massey in Texas. They moved to St. Louis, where she held a variety of civil service jobs. In 1948, the family moved to Hugoton. Mrs. Massey retired from selective service in the mid-1970s as a clerk. Following her husband's death on March 4, 1981, she moved to Wellington to be near her brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Massey was a member of Hugoton Baptist Church, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and P.E.O. Her special interests included singing in her church choir, bowling, being active in church, and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William Rainer and Thomas H. Rainer Jr.; and two sisters, Gladys Rainer Richards and Bessie Rainer.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Kyle, Seattle; a sister, Rachel Campbell, Wellington; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Ernestine Aileen Brewer
ULYSSES - Ernestine Aileen Brewer, 84, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, in Jackson, Calif.
She was born July 18, 1918, at Lamar, Colo., the daughter of Harvey E. and Mamie E. Robinson Moosdorf, and grew up in Purcell, Colo.
Since 1978, she had been a resident of Pioneer, Calif. She worked for 22 years for the Freemont School District as a business manager and was a past president of the California School Employee Association. She was a life member of Order of the Eastern Star and was a past State Grand Officer, and also was active in the Presbyterian Church.
On Sept. 17, 1937, she married Charles Brewer at Littleton, Colo. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Charles Gary Brewer, Bullhead City, Ariz.; a sister, Meta Popst, Brentwood, Calif.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ulysses Cemetery, with the Rev. Glenn Fogo officiating.

Richard Alan James
ULYSSES - Graveside service for Richard Alan James, 47, of Ulysses, was to be 2 p.m. today at Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, with military rites conducted.
Mr. James died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 6, 1955, at Elyria, Ohio, the son of William Arzander and Velma Burris David James.
A Manter resident since 1979, he moved to Ulysses in 1992. He had been a journeyman lineman at Pioneer Electric Cooperative Inc., for 21 years and was a systems administrator for the past two years.
Mr. James coached youth baseball in Johnson and Ulysses and enjoyed guns, fishing, computers and NASCAR racing. He had served in the U.S. Air Force, being honorably discharged in 1977.
On Nov. 12, 1977, he married Mary Ann Rush at Castle Rock, Colo. She survives. He also is survived by two sons, Keith Aaron James and Christopher Lee James, both of Ulysses; his mother, White Deer, Texas; his stepfather, Jerry Dean Miller, Stuart, Fla.; two brothers, William Timothy James, Quarryville, Pa., and David Lee James, Amarillo, Texas; three sisters, Elizabeth Ann Wright, Elyria, Carol Robin Blacker, Bennett, Colo., and Roberta Patricia Chambers, Santa Fe, N.M.; two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a son, J.D. James.

Sadie L. Porter
ULYSSES - Sadie L. Porter, 91, of Ulysses, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses.
She was born Dec. 8, 1910, at Midway, N.M., the daughter of Thomas Clement and Cumi Jordan Hennington
A Ulysses resident since 1943, she worked at the Big Bow Mellon Shed, at restaurants and was a farm wife. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Sew and So Club, Rebekah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary and the Kitchen Cuties, all at Ulysses.
In 1929, she married Floyd David Browder. He died in 1956. She married H.D. Porter in 1962. He died in 1987. She also was preceded in death by six brothers, one sister and one grandson.
She is survived by a son, David L. "Butch" Browder, Gordon, Neb.; a daughter, Leta M. Sullivan, Ulysses; a brother, Johnnie Hennington, Alabama; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Ulysses, with the Rev. Barry Durkee officiating. Burial will follow at Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson.

Mary E. Specht
SCOTT CITY - Mary E. Specht, 92, passed away at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kan., Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002.
She was born on Sept. 10, 1920 in Garfield, Kan., the daughter of Arthur Pike and Daisy E. Cook Daugherty.
On November 24, 1932, she married Harry J. Specht in Scott County. He passed away Sept. 30, 2000, in Scott City.
A lifetime resident of Scott City, she worked at the First National Bank in Scott City after graduating high school, was assistant clerk at the Selective Service Board in the 1950s and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, EHU and American Baptist Women.
Survivors include a son H. Gene Specht, Wichita, a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Orville Ives, Scott City.
Other survivors include three grandchildren, Cynthia Kay and Brian Appel, Scott City, Terry and Brenda Ives, Wichita, and Michael Lynn Ives, Wichita.
Five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Hilda M. Steele, and one great-grandson.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Scott City. Funeral is at First Baptist Church in Scott City at 2 p.m. Monday Sept. 30, 2002. The Rev. Lynne Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at the Scott County Cemetery.

Joy Anne Watson
TRIBUNE - Joy Anne Watson, 76, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at her home in Tribune.
She was born Dec. 31, 1927, at Sublette, the daughter of Fritz and Louisa Jeffers Reimelt.
A Greeley County resident since 1950, moving from Sublette, she was a homemaker and had been a bookkeeper for Watson Farms Inc., Tribune. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tribune.
On Sept. 30, 1950, she married Marvin Watson at Sublette. He survives. Other survivors are a son, Mitchell Watson, Tribune; two daughters, Betty Watson and Joy Laney, both of Arkansas; a sister, Wanda Meairs, Sublette; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons and one daughter.
Funeral will be 10:30 am. MT Monday at First Baptist Church, Tribune, with the Rev. Mark Randolph officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune.
