Etta 'Pat' Reece
Etta "Pat" Pathena Reece, 68, a former Garden City resident, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at her home in Brookings, Ore., following a long illness.
She was born Aug. 22, 1933, in Stafford County, the daughter of Marion and Emma Reece.
She was raised in Garden City and graduated from Garden City High School.
After high school, she joined the Marines for three years.
She moved to California and worked in testing electronics and worked for Datum Electronics.
She retired from there in 1994 and moved to Brookings in 1995.
She enjoyed yard work, shopping, especially antique shopping, and enjoyed doing her own repairs around the home.
She was known for being outgoing and friendly.
She is survived by a sister, Lola Romine, Garden City; a niece, Debra Mullins, Mount Vernon, Ind.; and a close friend, Joyce Crawford of Brookings.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service was to be 3 p.m. today at Redwood Memorial Chapel, Brookings.
Inurnment will take place in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Redwood Memorial Chapel.
Michael Webber
DODGE CITY - Michael Webber, 59, of Dodge City, died Thursday Aug. 1, 2002, at his home in Dodge City.
Born Oct. 10, 1942, at Topeka, he was the son of Howard G. and Neva McCullough Webber.
A Dodge City resident since 1980, moving from Ulysses, he was a meat cutter for Excel Corp., Dodge City.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
On Nov. 27, 2001, he married Jeanette Lorlovick at Dodge City. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Escondido, Calif; two brothers, Allen Webber, Salina, and Steve Webber, Escondido; and one sister, Mary Webber, Denver.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Pastor Dennis Zimmerman presiding.
Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to noon today at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
The casket will remain closed. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, with full military rites by Ft. Riley.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society in care of Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801.

Bertha A. McGaughey
Vigil service for Bertha Anna McGaughey, 91, a former Garden City resident, was to be 6 p.m. Thursday at Halley-Olsen-Murphy Memorial Chapel, Palmdale, Calif.
A Mass of Christian burial was to be celebrated at 10 this morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Palmdale, with burial to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Palmdale.
Mrs. McGaughey died Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Lancaster, Calif.
She was born Jan. 19, 1911, at Pierceville, the daughter of Anna and Walter Brennaman.
A Garden City resident before moving to Palmdale in 1954, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Jackie Jordan, Kathy Thomas and Judy Duffield, and four sons, Bob, Jerry, Rick and Tim McGaughey, all of Antelope Valley, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Joyce McGaughey; six sisters, Gladys Pounds, Marjorie Morgan, Imogine Quint, Ann Whitman, Delores Wilson and Clarabell Long; two brothers, Fred and Bus Brennaman; a sister-in-law, Rita Stuckey; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and two sons, Don and Frank McGaughey.
Consepcion Garcia
COPELAND - Funeral for Consepcion Garcia, 54, will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Salem Mennonite Church in rural Copeland.
Verle Yost and Sam Unruh Jr., ministers, will officiate.
Burial will be in Salem Mennonite Cemetery, Copeland.
Mrs. Garcia died suddenly Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Satanta District Hospital.
She was born Jan. 1, 1948, at Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Manuel and Guadalupe Marquez Garcia.
She had moved to the Copeland area to be near her family.
Survivors include her mother, Copeland; five brothers, Jesus Garcia, Spearman, Texas, Mario Garcia, Chihuahua, Cruz Garcia, Columbus, N.M., Guadalupe Garcia, El Mirage, Ariz., and Miguel Garcia, Albuquerque, N.M.; and three sisters, Cayetana Antillon, Albuquerque, Diva Withers, Copeland, and Lourdes Mendoza, Los Lunas, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Juan Ramon Garcia.
Visitation hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette, and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested for the family, in care of the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.
Martha M. Lucas
Martha M. Lucas, 93, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City.
She was born July 17, 1909, at Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of Stanley and Nell June Ochiltree Matthews.
A Garden City resident since 1997, moving from Goodland, she was a retired social worker for the state of Kansas.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Sugar Hills Country Club, Beta Sigma Phi sorority and several bridge clubs, all at Goodland.
On July 17, 1935, she married Robert Muir Lucas at Salina. He died Jan. 7, 1982, at Goodland.
She is survived by two daughters, Roberta Huddleston, Garden City, and June Passarelli, Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Dave Sweley officiating.
Private family burial will take place later.
Visitation hours are from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to service time Sunday at the funeral home.
