Barbara 'Gail' Hale
SATANTA - Funeral for Barbara "Gail" Hale, 73, of Satanta, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Satanta, with the Rev. Ray Tweed officiating. Burial will be in Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta.
Mrs. Hale died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Wichita.
She was born Oct. 6, 1928, at Bowie, Ariz., the daughter of Tom Sr. and Willie Pearl Phillips Bodine.
A Satanta resident since 1942, moving from Borger, Texas, she was a homemaker and also had worked as a teller for Satanta State Bank. She enjoyed her family activities.
Mrs. Hale attended First Baptist Church of Satanta, was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, served as county commissioner of Haskell County for 14 years and was the county's first woman commissioner, was secretary for the board of trustees of Satanta Hospital District from 1979 through 1982 and was director of State Bank of Satanta from 1992 through 1993.
In 1947, she married Ray Davis. He died in 1948. She married Joe Kenneth Augerot on July 13, 1949, at Amarillo, Texas. He died Sept. 23, 1975. She also was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Vicki Lee Davis.
On Jan. 15, 1977, she married Bill L. Hale at Satanta. He survives. She also is survived by two daughters, Beverly Wasinger, Hays, and Blenna Hoenig, Tulsa, Okla.; four stepsons, Kenneth L. Hale, La Junta, Colo., Henry L. Hale, Satanta, Bill D. Hale, St. Helens, Ore., and Jeffrey A. Hale, Scappoose, Ore.; a brother, Tom Bodine Jr., Amarillo; a sister, LaVerine Campbell, Portsmouth, Va.; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. Memorials are suggested to Satanta Long Term Care Unit and may be left at Shopping Stop True Value at Satanta or mailed to the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.
George 'Duke' Stallard
LAKIN - Funeral for George T. "Duke" Stallard, 64, was to be 2 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Roswell, N.M. The Rev. Archie Echols was to be assisted by the Rev. Danny Sons, Roswell Veterans Honor Guard and Roswell Masonic Low Twelve. Emerald Lodge No. 289 of Lakin will conduct a graveside service 10 a.m. Wednesday in Lakin Cemetery.
Mr. Stallard died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at his home in Roswell, from complications of multiple sclerosis.
Born at Lakin on Oct. 1, 1937, he was the son of George Aubrey and Gladys Agnes Prather Stallard. He graduated from Lamar (Colo.) Junior College and Adams State College of Alamosa, Colo.
A Roswell resident since 1967, previously residing in Colorado and Kansas, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Masonic Lodge No. 18, Oriental Band Patrol and Elks Lodge No. 969, and was a life member of Roswell Sertoma Club, all at Roswell.
He also belonged to Emerald Lodge No. 289 of Lakin and was a life member of Ballut Abyad Shriners and of the Paralyzed Veterans of America ZIA Chapter of Albuquerque. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall.
Mr. Stallard was the recipient of the Outstanding Handicapped New Mexican of the Year in 1983, and was a former member of the Governor's Committee on Concerns of the Handicapped. He was in the "Who's Who in the West" from 1989 to the present. One of his greatest missions and accomplishments was being involved with improving the handicapped accessibility for the public and private businesses in Roswell and throughout New Mexico.
On March 18, 1967, he married Diane Flower of Wichita. They owned and operated Shepler's Western Wear for 20 years, retiring in 1987.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, William Lee Scott, Falcon, Colo.; and two sisters, Betty Ann Miller, Roswell, and Dixie Jean Barnes, Perryton, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brothers.

Hope Dreiling
Vigil service for Hope Dreiling, 71, will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. James E. Baker as celebrant. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mrs. Dreiling died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born March 13, 1931, at Holcomb, the daughter of Juan and Paula Mendoza Delgado, and attended Garden City schools.
She worked at St. Catherine Hospital as a baker in the kitchen and then spent many years working at the Mexican-American Ministries office in Garden City. Her special interest was helping new people to Garden City with their needs. She also enjoyed painting.
Mrs. Dreiling was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella.
On Nov. 13, 1965, she married Charles W. Dreiling at Garden City. He survives. She is also survived by a sister, Kathryn Delgado, Garden City. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Rufus, Frank and Greg Delgado; and two sisters, Mary Guillen and Carman Jimenez.
Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and noon to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St.
Jacquelyn Marie Ott
Jacquelyn Marie "Jackie" Ott, 79, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, in Farmington, N.M.
Born April 2, 1922, at Garden City, she was the daughter of John William and Gladys Finnup Nolan.
She enjoyed playing bridge and duplicate bridge with her friends. After selling her business, she learned to play golf. She enjoyed being outdoors with her friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Chelle Durbin, Farmington; and two sisters, Gladys Ann Nolan, Colorado, and Sandra Nolan Rush, Redondo Beach, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Irene N. Stewart; her husband, Andrew "Andy" Ott; a son, Andrew "Drew" Ott; and her special friend, Edward C. "Huck" Kinney.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, following the Mass.

Charles 'Ben' Hughes
Charles "Ben" Hughes, 74, of Dodge City, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at Trinity Manor in Dodge City.
He was born May 18, 1927, on his grandparent's farm seven miles west of Dodge City, the son of Fredrick Selden Hughes and Mae Mary Trent. He lived in Moscow, Kan., until moving to Dodge City in 1934.
A truck driver, Mr. Hughes was an employee of Kindsvater Trucking for 19 years and had also worked for Lou Reimert, Dodge City Sand Co., and Sallie Trucking. He was a former stock car and modified race car driver, and belonged to First Baptist Church of Dodge City and the American Association of Retired Persons.
On July 26, 1963, he married Velda Mae (Baird) Anders at Hutchinson. She survives. He is also survived by a brother, Darrel Ray Hughes, Dodge City; two stepdaughters, Sandra "Sandy" Anders, Valirica, Fla., and Patricia Ann "Pat" Mills, Garden City; two stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Lorena Donley.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, with the Rev. Charles West officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.
Visitation hours are from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie, in care of the funeral home.
Myrtle June Robinson
SUBLETTE - Myrtle June Robinson, 87, of Olsburg, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Mercy Health Center of Manhattan.
She was born Feb. 20, 1915, at Blaine, the daughter of James and Anna McCullouth Lyons.
In June 1930, she married Artie Ellsworth Robinson. He died Aug. 1, 1963. On Dec. 24, 1970, she married Cecil Robinson. He died July 13, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jackie Darrell Robinson; and three sisters, Frances Anderson, Mary Powell and Irene Fairbanks.
A homemaker, Mrs. Robinson enjoyed her family activities. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Olsburg.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Robinson, Olsburg, and Donald Robinson, Garden City; two daughters, Dolores Angell, Estes Park, Colo., and Patricia Burch, Sublette; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Sublette, with the Rev. Mary Al Titus officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Liberal.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette. Memorials are suggested to the Heart Fund, in care of the funeral home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.
Elvira A. Reyes
Elvira A. Reyes, 63, died Friday, March 17, 2002, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
Born March 12, 1939, in Balcones, Coahuila, Mexico. Her parents were Blaz and Francisca (Chacon) Atayde.
She married Guadalupe Reyes Nov. 20, 1959, in Mexico. Elvira came to Garden City in 1997 from Lakin. She lived in Lakin for three years and before that, lived in Ulysses. While in Ulysses, she worked for 14 years at the Kentucky Fried Chicken. She was a member of the Church of God of the First Born and helped with church activities.
Her hobbies were crocheting, flowers and gardens, and she loved house plants. Elvira enjoyed spending her time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and one sister.
Survivors include: husband, Guadalupe Reyes, Mexico; two sons, Gonzalo Reyes and Guadalupe Reyes, both of Garden City; one daughter, Natividad Velasquez, Garden City; two brothers, Alvaro Atayde and Abelardo Atayde, both of Ulysses; one sister, Tomasa Barron, Mexico; 23 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Evening service will be 7:30 p.m. today at the Church of God of The First Born, Garden City. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Church of God of The First Born, Garden City. The minister will be Pastor John Janas. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Memorials will be in the name of Elvira A. Reyes Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home. Calling hours will be 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, both at the Church of The First Born.

Mary Otero
Vigil service for Mary Otero, 71, will be 8 tonight at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. James E. Baker as celebrant. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mrs. Otero died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at her home in Garden City.
She was born April 9, 1931, at Holly, Colo., the daughter of Pedro Silva and Josefa Garcia.
A Garden City resident since 1954, moving from Lakin, she had been a cook at Coffee Ann Restaurant in Garden City for 25 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
On July 23, 1954, she married Jesse Otero at Deerfield. He survives. She also is survived by three sons, Jack Otero, Garden City, Jessie M. Otero, Atlanta, and James Otero, Jacksonville, N.C.; a daughter, Nida Rios, Garden City; six brothers, Maurillo Silva, Stockton, Calif., Cirilio Silva, Lawrence Silva and Jack Silva, all of Granada, Colo., Tony Garcia, Holly, Colo., and Pete Silva, Lamar, Colo.; six sisters, Timmie Hernandez, Lakin, Jenny Bribiesca, Grand Prairie, Texas, Frances Medina and Dolores Marshall, both of Garden City, Florence Rodriguez, Colby, and Margaret O'Neal, Colorado; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a grandchild.
Per Mrs. Otero's wishes, there will be no visitation.
