Roy W. Enslow
Roy W. Enslow, 83, of Pueblo, Colo., died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, in Pueblo.
He was born March 18, 1918, at his parent's home in Kendall, the son of Phil and Ruby (Wiatt) Enslow. He was one of four high school graduates in the 1936 class at Kendall.
An avid hunter, he also farmed and trapped with his parents in western Kansas. In the 1930s, he worked for the ATSF Railroad. In the 1940s, he was one of the original members of the Kansas Highway Patrol, holding badge No. 12. Later, he was a motorcycle officer for the Garden City Police Department. In the late 1940s, he owned a trailer park and was a gunsmith in Garden City.
In 1950, he married Lillian Easton. They moved to Canon City, Colo., later that year and bought a ranch north of Orchard Park on Wilson Creek. He continued his love of the outdoors with hunting, fly-fishing, camping and boating. During the 1950s, he farmed in Orchard Park, ranched, worked at "Old Max" (Colorado Department of Corrections) and was a bartender for the Elks Lodge.
During this time he started in home construction and became a contractor/homebuilder in both Canon City and Pueblo. He also worked with Western Knapp Construction as a foreman on the NORAD construction project on two occasions, as well as other projects around the state.
From 1968 to 1976, he served two terms as the sheriff of Fremont County. He was an active member of the Republican Party, was an early member of the Fremont County Search and Rescue team, was active in civil defense and was a member of the South Central Law Enforcement Association.
Mr. Enslow also belonged to First Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Canon City. He excelled as a silversmith and loved geology as well as being a gunsmith.
After retirement from the sheriff's department in 1976, he built his retirement home in Howard. He and his wife traveled with friends or together in their motor home across North America and worked as a couple at Yellowstone National Park one summer.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a daughter, Patricia Ann Binder; and two brothers, Leslie and Dallas Enslow.
He is survived by five children, Betty Kurtz, Pueblo, Wayne Enslow, Parker, Colo., Eugene Wright and Robert Wright, both of Canon City, and Jerry Dudley, Paris, Texas; two sisters, Twila Woods, Lakin, and Lavesta Binder, Colby; a brother, Leonard Enslow, Lakin; two sisters-in-law; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Holt Chapel of the Garden, Canon City.

Madeleine S. Stewart
SCOTT CITY - Madeleine S. Stewart, 90, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.
She was born Sept. 24, 1911, in Gove County, the daughter of John Wesley and Inez (Slocum) Harrington. She graduated from Healy High School in 1928.
A Scott City resident since 1976, moving from Lane County, she was an Assistant Post Master at the Healy Post Office in Lane County until her retirement in 1976. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Scott City.
On Dec. 28, 1928, she married George Eugene Stewart at Rush Center. He died March 12, 1973, at Scott City. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles Dean Stewart; a grandson; and a sister, Hazel Lee.
She is survived by a son, Alan Stewart, Scott City; a daughter, Joyce West, Wichita; a brother, Robert Harrington, Wichita; four granddaughters; and four grandsons.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City, with the Rev. Lynne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Healy Cemetery.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or the Scott County VIP Center, both in care of the funeral home.
Robert Victor Blue
Robert Victor Blue, 57, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born March 21, 1944, at Garden City, the son of Emerson L. and Barbara M. (Geier) Blue. He attended St. Mary Catholic School and Garden City High School.
A lifetime resident of Garden City, he worked on the family farm while growing up. He later worked as a truck driver.
He is survived by a brother, Richard Blue of Denver. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Floyd Blue; and a sister, Joan Blue.
A private family graveside service is planned at Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. Catherine Hospital, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. Seventh St.
Jose Alfonzo Camacho
Graveside service for Jose Alfonzo Camacho, the infant son of Jose Alfonzo Camacho and Brianna Leigh Briscoe of Amarillo, Texas, was to be 2 p.m. today in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, with the Rev. Ted A. Skalsky officiating.
Jose died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo.
He was born Jan. 5, 2002, in Amarillo.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Larry and Twila Briscoe, Garden City, and Jose and Dora Camacho, Amarillo; his great-grandparents, Donald and Deloris Lamb, and Billie Perry, all of Garden City, Alfonzo Camacho, Alton, Texas, Sanchen Camacho, Dodge City, and Alberto and Maria Luz Renteria, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, was in charge of arrangements.
Frances B. Starr
SCOTT CITY - Frances B. Starr, 98, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.
She was born Oct. 6, 1903, at Bison, the daughter of John P. and Martha (Taylor) Neal.
On June 20, 1926, she married Dewey Starr. In the early 1960s they moved from Scott City to St. Francis where they owned and operated the Elm Hotel. He died March 15, 1978, at St. Francis. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sisters.
After her retirement, Mrs. Starr moved to Stronghurst, Ill., in 1979 and then returned to Scott City in 1994. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Scott City.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Simpson, Stronghurst, and Tava See, Scott City; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, with the Rev. Lynne Smith officiating.
Visitation hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church of Scott City or the United Methodist Church of Stronghurst, both in care of the funeral home.
Curtis L. Reinert
Funeral for Curtis L. Reinert, 58, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Randy Caddell officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery
in Ford County.
Mr. Reinert died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born July 23, 1943, at Montezuma, the son of Lloyd and Bessie (Markel) Reinert. He grew up in Montezuma and attended schools there.
In April 1973, he married Lee Boyd at Tahlequah, Okla.
A Kansas resident for most of his life, he lived for a short time in Oregon and California. He lived in Dodge City for about 15 years and had been a Garden City resident since 1996.
Mr. Reinert worked as a truck driver for R.O. Eves Trucking Inc. He enjoyed fishing and playing dominoes.
He is survived by four daughters, Ginger Dominguez, Fresno, Calif., Tanya Macias and Brandy Reinert, both of Garden City, and Misty Ortiz, Fowler; two stepsons, Brad Foster, Wichita, and Boyd Foster, Fowler; two stepdaughters, Cindy Viers, Dodge City, and Tresa Mandeligo, Woodward, Okla.; two sisters, Carol Reinert, San Antonio, and Hazel Cornett, Hugoton; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund, in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St.
