Harold Lee Pritchett
TRIBUNE - Funeral for Harold Lee Pritchett, 77, of Newton and formerly of Tribune, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, Newton, with the Revs. Donald A. Myer and Roger Megli officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mount Hope.
Mr. Pritchett died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater.
He was born Sept. 22, 1924, at Wichita, the son of Albert E. and Katie (Marriott) Pritchett.
A resident of Newton since 1995, moving from Tribune, he worked as a Union Pacific Railway Station agent for western Kansas and eastern Colorado for 38 years.
Mr. Pritchett was a member of First Baptist Church of Tribune and attended Newton Bible Church. He belonged to Gideon's International, the American Legion and the VFW, was a former member of the Newton Area Senior Center, was a lay minister and taught Bible classes in Tribune. He was a veteran of the U.S. military service.
Survivors include a son, Alan, Waynesville, Ohio; two daughters, Sandra Dye, Seguine, Texas, and Shelia Lamm, Murdock; three sisters, Ruth Megli, Newton, Eva Jantz, Butler, Mo., and Mary Lou Barker, Topeka; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
Visitation hours are until 9 tonight at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight. Memorials are suggested to Gideon's International, the Newton Senior Center or the donor's choice, all in care of the funeral home.
Dennis Horning
Dennis Horning, 70, a former Garden City resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, in Carrollton, Texas.
He was born Dec. 23, 1930, at Loveland, Colo.
Survivors include his mother, Ludwine Kreutzer; five children, Kathy Clary, Patty Wood, Ron Horning, Connie Martin and Debbie Cullinane; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five brothers; one sister; and his companion, Doris South, and the South family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Beverly Horning; his father, John Horning; and a brother, Leroy Horning.
Claude Preston
MONTEZUMA - Funeral for Claude Preston, 76, of Dodge City, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Dodge City, with Larry Williams officiating. Burial will be in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City.
Mr. Preston died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, in Dodge City.
He was born March 23, 1925, at Bucklin, the son of George Print and Lydia Lyllian (Gee) Preston. After graduating from high school in Bucklin in 1944, he moved to Dodge City where he was employed by Skaggs Motors as a collision repair specialist until his retirement.
Mr. Preston was a member of the First Christian Church and Boothill Iris Club, both at Dodge City, and also belonged to numerous automotive affiliations.
On Sept. 10, 1946, he married Evelyn Brown at Norwich. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Cliff, Dodge City, and Steve, Carterville, Ill.; a daughter, Sherry Wheeler, Manhattan; a sister, Blanche Hood, Montezuma; a brother, George, McPherson; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and seven sisters.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church Youth Ministry or Hospice of the Prairie, both in care of the funeral home.
Evelyn Lucille Thomas
Funeral for Evelyn Lucille Thomas, 87, of Colby, will be 10 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Norton, with Lew Van DerWege officiating.
Mrs. Thomas died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at the Prairie Senior Living Complex in Colby.
She was born Jan. 27, 1914, at Arriba, Colo., the daughter of William Henry and Luella Frances (Emerson) Emery. She attended school in Arriba, graduating from Arriba High School in 1932.
In 1934, she married Lavander E. Thomas at Limon, Colo. They made their home in several communities in eastern Colorado before moving to Norton in 1956. She worked as a cook for the Norton school system for many years.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Norton United Methodist Church and Eastern Star Chapter No. 126 having served as past worthy matron and receiving her 50-year pin in 1995, and was a Girl Scout leader. Her hobbies included crocheting, playing bridge and socializing with her friends.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia D. Winn, Garden City, Wilda K. Forbes, Goodland, and Pamela L. Ulmer, Olathe; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Nora; and a brother, Richard.
Visitation hours are until 8:30 tonight at Enfield Funeral Home, Norton. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Prairie Senior Living Center, both in care of the funeral home.
Ray Earl Grace
HUGOTON - Ray Earl Grace, 72, of Hugoton, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
He was born May 15, 1929, in rural Stevens County, the son of George R. and Rosa Etta (Ice) Grace.
A lifetime resident of Stevens County, he was a farmer. He enjoyed farming, and spending time with his family and friends. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On Oct. 26, 1952, he married Sandra Bowland at Raton, N.M. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Robin Grace, Garden City; two sisters, Gladys Mae Powers, Columbia, Mo., and Audrey F. Arnold, Hugoton; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother, Roy Ellis Grace; and a brother, Donnie Grace.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Church of God, Hugoton, with the Revs. Bill Vincent and Leslie Ratzlaff officiating. Burial will be in Barden Cemetery
in Texas County, Okla.

Cordelia Allen
SCOTT CITY - Cordelia Allen, 92, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.
She was born March 1, 1909, in Logan County, the daughter of James Wiley and Ida (Patton) Farr. She graduated from Scott Community High School in 1928.
A lifetime resident of Scott City, she was a homemaker. She belonged to Rebekah Lodge, Past Noble Grand Lodge and Homemakers EHU.
On Dec. 22, 1928, she married Robert Paul Allen at Garden City. He died Dec. 14, 1982, at Scott City. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Keith Ray Allen; five sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Merlin Allen, Weslaco, Texas, and Russell Allen, Scott City; two daughters, Mary Clark, Dighton, and Judy Erskin, Garden City; two brothers, Francis "Sam" Farr, Oberlin, and Clellan Farr, Wichita; a sister, Lena Russell, Scott City; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City, with the Rev. John Warring officiating. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Park Lane Nursing Home, in care of the funeral home.
Clarence C. Davis
SATANTA - Clarence C. Davis, 76, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Satanta District Hospital.
He was born Jan. 26, 1925, at Satanta, the son of C.C. and Lucy (Sanger) Davis.
Mr. Davis was a lifetime resident of Satanta. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Satanta American Legion Post No. 276.
On July 7, 1947, he married Twila Jane Rhiness. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter, ZoAnn Torrey, Ulysses; a daughter-in-law, Vickie Deaton, Satanta; two grandsons; a niece who had lived in his home at one time, Shelly O'Gara of Philpot, Ky.; two sisters, Lexine Harlow, Satanta, and Marietta Harlow, Haysville; a brother, Leroy Davis, Satanta; a brother-in-law, Paul Eugene Rhiness, Owensboro, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Clarence Sherrill Davis; two brothers, Everett and Donald Davis; and a sister, Mary Beckman.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Satanta. Burial will be in Banner Cemetery
in rural Seward County.

Casey Donald Gillespie
Memorial service for Casey Donald Gillespie, 12, will be 4 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Robert Cousins officiating.
Casey died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
The son of Ellen Swafford Gillespie, he was born Feb. 20, 1989, at Garden City. A lifetime Garden City resident, he was a sixth-grader at Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center, where he was known as someone who had a lot of fun and liked to joke around a lot.
Casey enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping and fast cars. He was a member of the Protestant faith.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his grandmother, Helen Swafford, Garden City; his aunt and uncle, Bob and Chris Bluml, Garden City; a cousin, Holly Bluml, Denver; and his special friend, Richard Geier, Garden City. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Swafford; and an aunt, Linda Swafford.
