Leonard Epp
Funeral for Leonard Epp, 83, of Linden, Texas, was Nov. 12 at Greenwood Chapel, Fort Worth, Texas.
Mr. Epp died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001.
He was born Sept. 1, 1918, at Meade, the son of Henry W. and Marie (Knak) Epp.
He is survived by a son; a daughter; four brothers, Melvin and Wesley, both of Inman, Herbert, Garden City, and Anton, Goessel; four sisters; five grandchildren; and two-great-grandchildren.
Brad E. McDonald
HUGOTON - Funeral for Brad E. McDonald, 37, of Salina, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rolla United Methodist Church, Rolla. Burial will be in Richfield Cemetery, Richfield.
Mr. McDonald died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Salina Regional Health Center.
He was born June 20, 1964, at Hugoton, the son of Roildon and Joyce (Drew) McDonald. He graduated from Seward County Community College in Liberal and Emporia State University, and was a graduate student at Kansas State University.
A Salina resident since 1995, he was a drama teacher at Salina Central High School and a member of the National Education Association and the Kansas National Education Association.
He is survived by his father, Rolla; a brother, Brent, Rolla; and three sisters, Terri Rankin, Satanta, Jody Popplewell, Oxford, and Miki McDonald, Emporia. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight at Harrell Funeral Home, Elkhart. Memorials to the donor's choice may be sent in care of the funeral home, Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
Quentin Todd Sharpe
Funeral for Quentin Todd Sharpe, 21, of Oklahoma City, was to be 10 this morning at Mercer-Adams Chapel, Bethany, Okla. Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mr. Sharpe died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, in Oklahoma City.
He had attended Putnam North High School and was employed by J-3 Construction, both in the Oklahoma City area.
Survivors include his mother, Kathy Sharpe, and two sisters, Dara and Christian, all of Oklahoma City; his grandmother, Mary Richardson, Garden City; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Muriel Ellis
HUGOTON - Muriel Ellis, 91, of Hugoton, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
She was born Nov. 23, 1909, at Alton, the daughter of DeWitt and Hattie (Howe) Worden. She graduated from Friends Haviland Academy in Haviland in 1948.
A homemaker, she was a member of Bethel Friends Church at Hugoton where she was an Adult Sunday School teacher for more than 25 years. She had also been active with Bible School and children's ministries.
On Dec. 25, 1933, she married Carl Ellis at Alton. He died in March 1980. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Kenneth Worden; and a sister, Arlene McKinney.
Survivors include a son, M. Gene Ellis, Lenexa; a daughter, Joyce Plank, Hugoton; a brother, Myron Worden, Friendswood, Texas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Friends Church, Hugoton, with the Rev. Eric Mason officiating. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home, Hugoton. Memorials are suggested to Barclay College at Haviland or the Bethel Friends Church Building Fund, both in care of the funeral home, 423 S. Main St., Hugoton, KS 67951.
Sister Christian Ney
Wake service for Sister Christian Ney, 86, of Great Bend, will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Dominican Chapel of the Plains, Great Bend. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Sisters' Calvary Cemetery, with the Rev. Eugene Kenny officiating.
She died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in the Dominican Sisters' convent infirmary, Great Bend.
Born Rose Marie Ney on Dec. 9, 1914, at Hanston, she was the daughter of Emil and Anne (Dimmer) Ney.
She entered the Dominican Sisters' Community on Sept. 5, 1940, and pronounced her first vows Aug. 13, 1943. For most of her religious life she ministered as a registered nurse, was obstetrics supervisor at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City and St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned, was staff nurse supervisor at Larned State Hospital and an obstetric and night nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital in Lamar, Colo. She worked as night duty nurse and in the pharmacy of Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend, worked in microfilming at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend, as an infirmary nurse at the convent, and had been in the convent infirmary since 1988.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Landry, Cheyenne Wells, Colo., and Lucille Jarus, Ellsworth.
Visitation hours are today, Thursday and until 9 a.m. Friday at the convent in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to the Dominican Sisters' Mission and Ministry Fund in Great Bend, in care of Bryant-Christians Funeral Home, Great Bend.
Mary R. Neufeld
Mary R. Neufeld, 69, of Garden City, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
She was born July 14, 1932, at Little River, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Downing) Hailings.
A Garden City resident since 1997, moving from Leoti, she was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Assembly Church of Garden City.
On July 23, 1950, she married Arnold E. Neufeld at Blackwell, Okla. He survives. She is also survived by two sons, Jerry Neufeld, Albuquerque, N.M., and Jeff Neufeld, Moscow, Idaho; two daughters, Janell LaFrenz, Evans, Colo., and Jeana Lamaster, Leoti; a brother, Merlin Hailings, Blackwell; a sister, Jenny Koehn, Moundridge; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Pauline Hailings, Alberta Koehn, Eva Miller and Orlena Bonham.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Arnie Leidy officiating. Inurnment will take place later.
There will be no visitation. Memorials to the Mary R. Neufeld Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 620 N. Main St.
Franklin Harding Grumbein
DIGHTON - Funeral for Franklin Harding Grumbein, 80, of Pocatello, Idaho, was Nov. 10 at the First United Methodist Church, Pocatello, with the Rev. H. Lee Baker officiating.
Mr. Grumbein died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at his home in Pocatello.
He was born March 29, 1921, in Ness County, the son of Edwin Heberling and Clara Amelia (Haas) Grumbein. He attended schools in Kansas.
Mr. Grumbein founded Frank's Repair Service, Pocatello, and continued to work with his son after retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.
On Aug. 15, 1942, he married Edith Armstrong at Blackfoot, Idaho. She died May 23, 1994.
Survivors include a son; three daughters; a brother, Clarence Arthur, Dighton; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his companion.

Bertha M. Jones
CIMARRON - Funeral for Bertha M. Jones, 99, of Ness City, was to be 10:30 this morning at the United Methodist Church, Hanston, with the Rev. Mitch Reece officiating. Burial was to be in Burdett Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at Ness County Long Term Care in Ness City.
She was born Oct. 9, 1902, in Hodgeman County, the daughter of Charles and Ida (Howell) Smith.
A homemaker, she had been a lifetime resident of Hanston before moving to Ness City in 1998. She belonged to the United Methodist Church, Hanston.
On June 10, 1917, she married Bert Jones at Kinsley. He died Feb. 7, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter Smith; a stepsister, Mary Deany; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond, Dodge City, and Dennis, Hanston; two daughters, Arline Byrum, Larned, and Iline Cox, Hanston; two sisters, Ethel Langer, Wichita, and Marge Sauer, Cimarron; a stepbrother, Fred Smith, Wichita; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, was in charge of arrangements.
