Kathy Richman
Kathy Richman, 51, of Olathe, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at the home of her daughter in Olathe.
Born in Garden City on Jan. 6, 1950, she had lived here her entire life before moving to Olathe in the past year. She was a graduate of Garden City High School and attended Garden City Community College and Brown Mackie College.
Mrs. Richman was an emergency medical dispatcher for St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City where she worked for 17 years. She was a former member of First Christian Church in Garden City and a member of Christ Community Church in Olathe.
Survivors include two sons, Matthew Richman, Garden City, and Michael Richman, Overland Park; two daughters, Jessica Richman-Edwards and Michelle Richman, both of Olathe; her mother, Beulah Clayton, Garden City; a brother, Marvin Frizzell, Garden City; a sister, Charlotte Heller, Hebron, Neb.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marsha Mathias, in 1998; and her father, Roy Clayton, in 1973.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, with the Rev. Doug Brady officiating. Cremation has taken place.

Velma Louise Crotinger
CIMARRON - Funeral for Velma Louise Crotinger, 95, was to be at 2 p.m. today at First Christian Church, Cimarron, with Charlie Kerr officiating. Burial was to be in Greencrest Cemetery, Dodge City.
Mrs. Crotinger died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at The Shepherd's Center in Cimarron.
She was born Nov. 28, 1905, at Cimarron, the daughter of Robert English and Anna Steinkuehler. She graduated from Cimarron High School.
A homemaker, she was a member of First Christian Church of Cimarron and the Home Economics Unit in Ford County.
On June 1, 1925, she married Ralph Crotinger at Cimarron. He died Aug. 13, 1971. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rogena Gibbs, and two grandsons.
She is survived by a son, Lloyd, Cimarron; a brother, Nathan, Cimarron; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or The Shepherd's Center, both in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron.
Charles Dean Foster
Funeral for Charles Dean Foster, 82, of Natoma, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church, Natoma, with the Rev. L.J. McDermott officiating. Burial will be in Natoma Cemetery.
Mr. Foster died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.
He was born Sept. 22, 1919, at Caney, the son of Charles Glenn and Alpha Ora (McClure) Foster. His early life was spent in Russell, where he graduated from high school.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, Pacific Theater. After the service he moved to Natoma where he operated a Standard Service Station for several years. For the past 40 years, he was employed by Pohlman's Mortuary, Natoma, and at Pohlman's Home Furnishing Co. until its closure in 1966.
Mr. Foster was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, American Legion Post and Lions Club, all at Natoma, and a life member of the VFW Post at Russell.
On Feb. 13, 1946, he married Anita Foster at Russell. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Charles "Chuck" Foster, Des Moines, Iowa, and Larry Foster, Wilson; three daughters, Karen Blank, Smith Center, Sharon "Susi" Clark, Natoma, and Carol Gotsche, Garden City; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger Foster; and a brother, Dale Foster.
Visitation hours are until 9 tonight at Pohlman's Mortuary, Natoma, and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran Hour or the American Diabetes Association, both in care of the mortuary, 701 N. First St., Natoma, KS 67651.
Verda Wright
DIGHTON - Verda Wright, 77, of Alden, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Lyons District Hospital in Lyons.
She was born April 24, 1924, at Dighton, the daughter of Virgil and Melissa (Glentzer) Beamer.
A resident of Alden, formerly of Liberal, she was a retired bank bookkeeper and loan company bookkeeper. She was past secretary for the Council on Aging.
On Aug. 15, 1957, she married Jim Wright at Dodge City. He survives. She is also survived by four sons, Jim Compton, Boca Raton, Fla., Bill Compton, Alma, Mich., Larry Wright, Albuquerque, N.M., and Michael Wright, Georgetown, Texas; two daughters, Deborah Sair, Jefferson, Colo., and Linda Highly, Harrisonville, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thane and Brian Beamer.
A private family service is planned. Sillin Funeral Home, Sterling, is in charge of arrangements.
Paul Bryant Garnand
Vigil service for Paul Bryant Garnand, 50, will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Joseph Bahr as celebrant. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mr. Garnand died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born Oct. 13, 1951, at Garden City, the son of Alton B. and Stella (Pajunas) Garnand. He attended St. Mary Catholic School, graduated from Garden City High School in 1969, and attended Fort Hays State University in the early 1970s.
While growing up in Garden City, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Santa Fe Trail Council and collected Cleveland Indians memorabilia.
A lifetime resident of Garden City, he worked at a motorcycle shop and the Datsun dealership before opening his used vehicle dealership, Paul Garnand Sales.
Mr. Garnand was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. His special interests were his Corvette cars and he formerly participated in motorcross racing. He belonged to GoodGuys, a regular gathering of vintage and stock car enthusiasts. He was known for extensive model car assembly and NASCAR collectibles.
He is survived by his mother, Garden City; three aunts; and three uncles. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the St. Dominic Parish Center Fund, in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St.
Kathryn M. Curtis
HUGOTON - Kathryn M. Curtis, 82, of Hugoton, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
She was born Aug. 2, 1919, in Stevens County, the daughter of Carl Sr. and Catherine Marie (Kascak) Jones.
A lifetime resident of Hugoton, she owned and operated the Flower Nook there for 10 years and had worked for Bloodhart Drug in Hugoton. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church and was a sponsor of the Be Boop Dance Club, both at Hugoton.
On June 1, 1940, she married Ralph Murel Curtis at Syracuse. He died May 23, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Sammy, Donny and Tommy Jones.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie L. Shelite, Hugoton; two brothers, Carl Jones Jr., Grand Junction, Colo., and Bruce Jones, Fruita, Colo.; a sister, Jo Brown, Eagle, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews, including Betty Smitherman of Kismet and Sondra Bruner of Elkhart.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Hugoton, with the Rev. Floyd Daharsh officiating. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.
Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Tuesday at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton.
Karen Kay "K.K." Unger
Karen Kay "K.K." Unger, 55, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born April 15, 1946, at Denver, the daughter of Edward Michael and Dorothy (Atteberry) Ritter. She graduated from Douglas County High School in Castle Rock, Colo., in 1964.
She began working for Peoples Natural Gas Co. in Brighton, Colo., as a meter reader. After two years, she was transferred to Garden City where she also worked as a meter reader for the company. She retired after 17 years with the company.
A Garden City resident since the early 1980s, her special interests were crocheting, dancing and her family activities.
Survivors include two sons, Wade and Frank Unger, and a daughter, Anna Hahn, all of Garden City; her mother and stepfather, Lyle and Dorothy Cook, St. Francis; three brothers, Buyrel Ritter, Mullinville, Lloyd Ritter, Kiowa, Colo., and Wayne Ritter, St. Francis; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and a son, Shawn Unger.
Funeral will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, with the Rev. Randy Caddell officiating. An additional service is planned for 2 p.m. CST Wednesday at St. John United Church of Christ in Idalia, Colo., with Mike Atteberry officiating. Burial will be in St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery, Idalia.
