Mary Jacqueline "Jackie" Ice
Funeral for Mary Jacqueline "Jackie" Ice, 75, was 10 this morning at Rich's Funeral Home, Springfield, Colo. Burial followed in Springfield Cemetery.
A celebration of life is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Homestead Assisted Living Residence in Garden City.
Mrs. Ice died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born June 9, 1926, at Elkhart, the daughter of Cecil and Sally Isley (Crawford) Padget. She attended school in Vilas, Colo.
On Jan. 21, 1945, she married James Leonard Ice at Bernalillo, N.M. They raised their family of two daughters and one son on the homestead farm near Two Buttes, Colo. A homemaker, Mrs. Ice enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Kay Crichton, Bremerton, Wash., and Susan Carole Rishel, Garden City; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Moore, Wichita; and a brother-in-law, Robert Ice, Canon City, Colo. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, James Michael Ice; and her parents.
Memorials are suggested to the Garden City Dialysis Center, in care of Sandy Scaia, 310 E. Walnut St., Garden City, KS 67846.
Mildred L. Yager
LAKIN - Funeral for Mildred L. Yager, 89, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, Lakin, with Steven Payne and the Rev. Rafael Franco officiating. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery.
Mrs. Yager died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.
She was born July 21, 1912, at Tulsa, Okla., the daughter of James Franklin and Winnie Marie (Endicott) Webb. She grew up in Oklahoma, attending schools there.
On Nov. 26, 1929, she married John Dale Yager at Kaw City, Okla. They moved to Lakin in 1948. Mrs. Yager worked as a cook at Kearny County Hospital, baked for Hazlett Grocery Store, catered for years at events taking place in Lakin, and also operated the bowling alley in Lakin in 1952 and 1953.
Mrs. Yager was a member of First Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Ladies VFW Auxiliary, was a founder and former Kansas State Queen of TOPS, and was active in the Boy Scouts. She enjoyed cooking and had published her own family cookbook. She also enjoyed playing cards, watching car races, embroidery and watching sports, especially football.
Her husband died Jan. 14, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Charles Franklin Yager and John Dale Yager Jr.; two brothers, Robert F. Webb and Sherrill Webb; a sister, Nellie "Rosie" Passmore; and a great-grandson.
Survivors include two daughters, Bettie Swinscoe, Fort Collins, Colo., and Beverly Damme, Pueblo West, Colo.; three brothers, Dale Webb, Hominy, Okla., Val Gene Webb, Chanute, and William Webb, Collinsville, Okla.; two sisters, Mary Jane Kauffman, Washington state, and Shirley Altmark, Sarasota, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Elizabeth Maes
An evening service for Elizabeth Maes, 59, of 1406 Harding Ave., No. H-2, was 4 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Funeral was 10:30 this morning at Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, Garden City, with the Rev. James Charles officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
Mrs. Maes died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born May 7, 1942, at Ciudad Madera, Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Francisco and Josefa (Sandoval) Salido.
A Garden City resident since 1983, moving from Deming, N.M., she was a homemaker. Her hobbies were crocheting, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of Apostolic Faith Tabernacle Church.
She married Ventura Flores, whom she later divorced. In 1983, she married William Maes. He survives. She is also survived by three sons, Benjamin Flores, Holcomb, Moises Flores, Douglas, Ariz., and Francisco Flores, Garden City; three daughters, Rosa Maria Flores, Mesa, Ariz., Silvia Flores, Apache, Ariz., and Bertha Alicia Duran, Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Pedro Salido, Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua; a sister, Susana Duran, Deming; 15 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.
Jenny J. Nodine
LEOTI - Funeral for Jenny J. Nodine, 59, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Leoti, with the Revs. Rick Just and Charles Mazouch officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery.
Mrs. Nodine died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at her home in Leoti.
She was born Jan. 4, 1942, in Indiana, the daughter of Walter E. and Margaret Shaw.
Mrs. Nodine had been a Leoti resident since 1960. A homemaker, she had formerly worked as a nurse's aide at Wichita County Hospital. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
On Nov. 22, 1959, she married Charles N. Nodine at Wheeler, Texas. He died Dec. 18, 2000, at Leoti. She was also preceded in death by a sister.
Survivors include two sons, Walter, of Duchess, Alberta, Canada, and Waide, Leoti; a daughter, Jolene Berning, Marienthal; her stepmother, Margaret Shaw, Perryton, Texas; four brothers, Billy Shaw, Alvin, Texas, Gene Shaw, Houston, Guy Shaw, Canadian, Texas, and Tim Shaw, Mutual, Okla.; a sister, Nancy Zuniga, Ulysses; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation hours are until 8 tonight and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti. Memorials are suggested to Wichita County Hospital or the American Diabetic Association, both in care of the funeral home.
Bradford D. "Buzz" Neel
Funeral for Bradford D. "Buzz" Neel, 70, of Meade, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Meade, with the Rev. Lynn E. Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
Mr. Neel died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at his home.
He was born May 17, 1931, at Ulysses, the son of Charles and Leda (Klotz) Neel.
A lifetime resident of Meade, he was an air-condition and duct work contractor for Eads Plumbing, and Smith and Edwards. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and the VFW, both at Meade.
On April 3, 1954, he married Nelda Mae Edmondson at Albuquerque, N.M. She died Sept. 18, 1997.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Leda and Bill Golobay, Meade; three sons, Kenneth Neel, Denver, William J. Neel, Meade, and Bradford D. Neel Jr., Pueblo, Colo.; two daughters, Wanda Sue Furry, Meade, and Tammy Kay Sheldon, Lakin; a brother, Lloyd Neel, Pampa, Texas; a sister, Donna Lee Holmes, Andrews, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Linda G. Swafford
Linda G. Swafford, 51, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at Dunlap (Iowa) Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born July 15, 1950, at Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Donald M. and Helen L. (Short) Swafford. The family moved to Iowa when she was young.
During her earlier adult years, Miss Swafford was a resident of WESCO in Denison, Iowa, and entered the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center on Dec. 30, 1997. She loved music, dancing and socializing with her friends.
She is survived by her mother and two sisters, Christina Lynn Bluml and Ellen Marie Gillespie, all of Garden City; a niece, Holly Bluml, Denver; and a nephew, Casey Gillespie, Garden City.
A memorial service was 7 p.m. Saturday at Huebner Funeral Home, Denison.
Donald Clayton Mills
ULYSSES - Donald Clayton Mills, 44, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born April 8, 1957, at Wichita, the son of Elsie (Bennett) Jaso. He attended schools in Alva, Okla., Kiowa, Hugoton and Ulysses.
A Ulysses resident since 1972, he was a welder for T & L Irrigation.
He is survived by his mother, Ulysses; his grandmother, Ethel Bennett, Coldwater; a brother, Darren Mills, Ulysses; a sister, Deb Mitchell, Moscow; three nephews, Tim Thomason and Dakota Mills, both of Ulysses, and Justin Mitchell, Wichita; three nieces, Tabatha Mitchell and Mikka Mitchell, both of Moscow, and Brittani Wettstaedt, Plainview, Ill.; two great-nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, George Jaso; and his grandfather, Everett Bennett.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Coldwater, with the Rev. Kent Little officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater.
